Art bible — Flores Island (Ch 2 and Ch 3)

Status: RATIFIED (A2 — “The ladder of stone and fire”). Picked by Josh 2026-08-06 (remote
sitting, in-chat); director apply per REALM_DESIGN_PROGRAM.md §3.5. The A1 addressed-threshold
typology is MANDATED as zone-scale set dressing within A2's macro frame (the recommendation
Josh agreed to, held by the region page's care rules). The asset factory may now read this
file; sections marked SET BY the pick populate from the A2 plate program.

Provenance

the director 2026-08-11 under the 2026-08-03 PICKS-DELEGATED ruling; Josh's 2026-08-06 ruling

scoped to Panel A, and the delegation covers the remainder. Scope evidence:

DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH's "THE BRIEF-BUNDLE ANSWERS" section records the 2026-08-06 ruling as the

ESTABLISHING pick only and names no Panel-B or Panel-C option; Brief 1 was in-chat and is not

archived. Deciding axis for both: CANON FIDELITY. B2 is the only Panel B option that amplifies

the PICKED MACRO FRAME, A2. The pick has two halves and B1 amplifies the other one (the A1

typology the ruling mandates as zone dressing), so this is not a uniqueness claim but a choice of

where the Panel-B amplification budget goes — it goes to the macro frame, because that is the

half the establishing board exists to rule. B2's altered law is NONE (a tempo compression of a

real mineral process), which keeps the recharge-only vril surface the spine rules; and its

vertical-route legibility gives the no-map, no-dialogue survival opener a visible goal, which is

what Josh's FUN AND BEAUTIFUL / ACTION-ADVENTURE-FANTASY-RPG conditions weigh for. The strongest

objection is carried, not buried: B2 amplifies exactly the half of A2 whose geological anchor is

not yet in the corpus, and its own two plates (PLT_0001_B2_1, PLT_0001_B2_2) cite SRC_00193

alone — the source the region page files AUTHORIAL-REBUTTAL. Measured on the citation line, B1

is the better-cited option and the axis argued against this pick; it is overruled because the

establishing board's job is the macro frame and the citation gap is an ACQUISITION, closable

without re-rendering: the intended anchor is the public-domain USGS/Smithsonian volcano-survey

class A2's silhouette and palette plates are already routed to (acquisition PENDING, no plate

filled), a Lane-R condition on the pick line and never a gate. B3 is REJECTED and the reason is

named rather than left implicit: it amplifies A3, the reading the pick did not take and the

weakest-cited option on the board (§9's Manggarai anchor is still MUST-ACQUIRE). The board's own

objection — that B3 is the option most justifying a generative pipeline, via the restored

pre-colonial forest edge — is real and is CARRIED FORWARD, not dismissed: that world state is

documented and reachable through the chapter's own time-fluctuation window, and it routes to the

Ch-3 land-pressure boards where the fan is the subject, rather than to the establishing frame

where it would amplify an unpicked reading. Cards C: C-SQ-1 is the marked build — the card that

converts the MANDATED A1 threshold dressing into play in the same chapter it is established

(C-SQ-4's condition, the fan geometry, was not taken). Routed WITH it as consequence-cards:

C-EX-1 (the Kelimutu rim traverse — the climax geography the picked A2 is the reading of),

C-NZ-1 (the one-slope palette ruling; the panel's own strongest objection concedes it applies

whichever option is taken) and C-NZ-2 (the two-waterfall pair field 6 already rules). The

remaining eight cards are DEFERRED, not dropped — live rows in the quest-seed queue, unrouted,

with this line as the record of that state.

1. Palette

SET BY Panel A (option's palette-and-light plate), refined by Panel B.

What is already fixed by canon regardless of the pick, and therefore not the board's to change:

dry;ash;clear. Not monsoon.

2. Light doctrine

SET BY Panel A — and the pick chose: altitude-banded light from karst dark to caldera glare (A2),

with broken canopy light (A1's doctrine) operating at zone scale inside the forest band under the

mandated threshold dressing. Each altitude band carries its own light as its own material law; the

climb from cave mouth to crater rim is legible as a climb.

The band law is ALTITUDE-scaled, not zone-scaled: the three Manggarai column zones

(lingko_forest_edge, manggarai_village_edge, compang_lingko_fields) sit within five measured

metres of each other (the region page's zone-bounds derivation: fan mean 941.2 m, five metres

below the village edge, slope mean 3.3°), so they are ONE band and take ONE palette ruling,

exactly as card C-NZ-1 states. Bands separate at the karst / forest / bare-cone / caldera-rim

transitions, not at zone borders.

Impossible-light clause: NONE PROPOSED, and the reason is canon rather than caution. The spine states

that the recharge mechanic is the only surface through which the vril substrate is shown, never

declared, so the region's light must stay physical.

3. Material vocabulary

SET BY Panel A. Fixed by canon: limestone, volcanic stone and scree, timber and ijuk thatch, cotton

ikat, worked earth. Real cultural architecture is reference-built, never raw-generated (§17.1); only

fantastical and vril structures are generation-sanctioned, and this region has none.

4. Silhouette and architectural grammar

SET BY Panel A's silhouette plate. This is the field the board's Panel A recommendation and its

strongest objection are actually arguing about: A1 rules a three-metre detail grammar, A3 rules a

hundred-metre pattern grammar, and the objection on the board is that an establishing board owes the

second.

Fixed by canon whichever is picked: the mbaru niang five-storey cone under ijuk thatch; the compang

stone centre with settlement radiating from it; the lodok spider-web fields fanning onto the ground

BELOW the settled edge, not at its doorstep; the Ngada megalithic ngadhu and bhaga platforms.

5. Scale rule

Read off the Zone Catalog's meters_per_vertex column, which is already populated for all eleven

zones: 1 m/vertex at the hero sites (liang_bua_cave, kelimutu_crater_lakes, todo_royal_village),

2 m at recharge_waterfall, wae_rebo_village, compang_lingko_fields, wae_water_spring,

mama_klaras_waterfall, and 5 m at mount_inerie_cone_country, manggarai_village_edge,

lingko_forest_edge. The art call may not ask for detail the geometry budget cannot carry at the

zone's own rung.

6. The vril-physics signature

Visible read — the waterfall recharge, and nothing else. Mechanical read — VS_CH02_001 at the

recharge falls is passive; VS_CH03_001 at Mama Klara's falls is a recharge_ritual that permanently

raises the vril-capacity floor on full success.

Both vril sites are waterfalls, which AssetGen §2 excludes from the Vril-Sites generative mesh backend

and routes to terrain (the Zone Catalog's terrain=water_body already disambiguates), so the

Vril-Sites generative asset category is EMPTY for this region. That is a real routing fact and not an

omission.

EG_ row consequence — SUPERSEDED AS WRITTEN (corrected 2026-08-11 from the corpus): the Rank-7 pass

has since landed. T0_Environment_Grammar_Registry carries 225 rows and the Zone Catalog's

environment_grammar_refs are populated for the Flores zones (liang_bua EG_0005–0007, kelimutu

EG_0003/0009–0011, inerie EG_0003–0005/0012, the recharge falls EG_0008, among them). Field 6

remains those rows' doctrinal input; it no longer awaits them.

7. Motion grammar

SET BY Panel B — and the pick chose B2: a visible rate of colour change on the lakes, a tempo

compression of a real mineral process with NO altered law. The rate is the region's one uncanny

motion and it must be shown as a rate (the ruled plate is a PAIR — two moments of the same rim),

never as an effect. At zone scale the A1 dressing keeps its own real-optics motion — wind on cloth,

drifting spray — as the attended-point cue set B1 described, inherited through the dressing mandate

rather than through a B pick.

8. The forbidden list

Carried verbatim from the board's NAMED VISUAL EXCLUSION block, which is authored in the ruled

may/ · may_not/ · must/ token grammar the live T0_Realm_Ruleset_Registry.care_duty_tokens

column already uses. Ten entries carried by reference from the board's block (see

docs/art_boards/flores_island/BRD_0001/board.md, Named visual exclusion), plus the two folded

de-slop critic findings written out below in the same token grammar — twelve in force:

— no de-anchored volcanic-island composition: a Kelimutu frame that could be relabeled to another

island without contradiction has failed the relabel test; the named lakes (Tiwu Ata Polo among

them) and the Lio reading of altitude as nearness to the dead are what make it Flores.

establishing set without a human-scale read. The de-slop fold reached B1's and B3's plate briefs

only (eye-level walking; shoulder height on a rib); the PICKED B2's two briefs carry no figure,

so this entry binds the B2 generation call rather than describing it: the vertical-read hero

plate is authored with a person-scale element in the cave-mouth foreground before any B2 plate

is generated, and the rate-pair plate carries the same read at the rim.

9. Citation appendix

Substrate rows behind the board, all resolving into T0_Source_Material_Registry:

is a Keo people-to-land source used for the general frame, while the lingko and compang institution

depicted is Manggarai. The pending anchor is Erb, *The Manggaraians*, on the MUST-ACQUIRE list. The

cultural-authenticity critic raised this and the board carries it on its face rather than burying

it. Acquiring the Manggarai anchor is the condition for Panel A option A3 being pickable without an

amendment.

Rights values per plate live in docs/art_boards/PLATES.csv. Nine Panel A plates are routed Lane R

and are PENDING ACQUISITION; none may be filled by generation.

Two of those nine were RE-ROUTED on 2026-08-02, before any acquisition ran. A2's palette plate and

A3's palette plate were both routed licensed, and neither identified a licence — REALM_DESIGN_PROGRAM

§3.4 rules the value as *licensed (with the licence identified)*. A2's row cited the owned National

Geographic run; docs/BOOKS_OWNED.md §8 names that run a production art-reference asset and says

nothing about reproduction rights, so owning it is not holding a licence to reproduce it. Both rows are

now public_domain, routed to source classes their neighbouring plates already commit to. PLATES.csv

also gained image_use_class, the image-side permission column (the C-12 generation_licence_ref is

the MODEL licence and reads n_a_lane_r on all nine Lane-R rows), and read_boards.py fails any plate

routed licensed that does not identify its grant.

Site-level rights are a SEPARATE and unanswered question for this region: Wae Rebo is a living

protected settlement with its own community protocols, and image-level clearance would not by itself

clear a commercial-capture or commercial-reconstruction question there. That check is a second field

and is not yet made.

10. The intensity slot

Flores is the FLOOR of the climb. It is the arc's origin node and the first earthly leg, and the

chapter's own register is a survival-horror opener rising to a crater-lake climax. What follows is

Bali (Ch 4), and what precedes it is the fairy realm, which designs LAST by ruling on the matured

pipeline. So this bible sets the baseline that every later region is read against, which is the

strongest single argument for boarding it first.

11. Downstream consumers

the pre-pass "2 rows, none for Flores" reading is SUPERSEDED — see field 6). EG_0003–EG_0021

carry the Flores feature set: the Liang Bua deep-time stratum EG_0007, the Tiwu Ata Polo lake

EG_0011, the mbaru-niang frame EG_0013, the compang EG_0015 and the lingko fan EG_0016 among

them. Field 6 is those rows' doctrinal input, not a request for them.

environment_grammar_refs are POPULATED (the EG state corrected 2026-08-11; field 6 above);

asset_routing stays DECLARED-EMPTY by REALM_DESIGN_PROGRAM's own law (no value until the

§2.6 / AG7.1 enum is ratified — an unratified enum value would be invented canon), so it is not

this pick's to fill. The five realm art hooks CONCEPT_ART_PROGRAM names as the writeback

destination (palette_law, silhouette_law, impossible_architecture_budget,

signature_phenomenon, concept_choice_slots) are NOT this pick's target and are deliberately

left 0/11: T0_Realm_Ruleset_Registry carries no per-region row — RLM_0000 is the arc-wide

human-world baseline, and writing one region's band law there would over-scope it to every

earthly chapter — and T0_Region_Index carries no art-hook column. The region page §7/§17 plus

this bible are therefore the owning surfaces the pick can reach, and they are the ones this

field's consumer set names. That writeback — the picked look-law cited from the owning region

page (§7 architecture, §17 build spec) — is APPLIED as of the pick reconciliation, and

writeback_status on the manifest row reads applied on exactly that basis.

Canon accounting (the gate face — enrolled as BIB_0001)

This bible is enrolled in gate canon_derivation (sidecar flores_island.coverage.json; the id

universe and every pending destination are copied from BRD_0001's own coverage rows, never

hand-typed). Of the 62 ids CH_02 + CH_03 name in their anchor sections, the bible REALIZES the two

vril-site reads its field 6 rules — VS_CH02_001 and VS_CH03_001 — and declares every other id

PENDING, routed to the lane that owes it. A doctrine bible that realizes doctrine and routes

entities is the honest division of labour; what would be a defect is doing it silently, so the full

pending set is disclosed here on the face:

12. Architecture reference pack (pointer — ratifies nothing)

The Manggarai built-heritage evidence behind fields 3 and 4 lives in

docs/research/MANGGARAI_ARCHITECTURE_REFERENCE.md. It is the reference substrate the game repo's

QA/look/architecture_reference_plan.md asked for, synthesised from two independent deep-research

returns and cross-checked fact by fact: the mbaru niang five-level program, the nine-post and

pin-jointed-mast structural system, the compang, the lodok field geometry, the geometry and

materials tables, the tiered-thatch skin law, the eye-level look register, the §17.1 care layer as

representation guidance, and a named Erb polish worklist. Three numbers in the previz massing move

on it: the 15 m height is confirmed, the uniform 15 m house diameter is not (the cone is a 65-70°

needle at 11 m floor diameter, 14 m on the drum house), and the 52 m ring radius encloses more

ground than the whole 6,500 m² awarded site.

That pack is proposal-tier reference substrate. It is evidence for these fields, never a pick;

it ratified nothing then and ratifies nothing now — the RATIFIED status above rests on Josh's

2026-08-06 pick line alone. (This sentence originally read "this file's AWAITING PICK status is

untouched by it," written before the ratification; corrected 2026-08-11 so no stale state claim

survives on a ratified bible.)

Protagonist garment states (ruled 2026-08-03)

Two declared states, one child: the soaked mud-caked wrap-tunic (cave and waterfall beats) and the dried cream tunic-and-leggings (village edge onward). Look-development only — the character model is an undergarment base with equipment layered on top (thirty-second sitting).
