Scope: the Cham/Champa grounding obligation that Josh's Champa care ruling (2026-07-20)
attaches to the ELEVATED surfaces of the Angkor region page — the west_baray combat-staging
(the 1177 river-war), the myson_champa sanctuary zone, and the modern-Cham-communities block.
Per the ruling: elevated care is SCOPED to the Cham/war surfaces; Khmer-majority material stays
standard; the combat ceiling is UNCHANGED (the mature two-peer 1177 set-piece stands at full
intensity — care means weight + authenticity, never omission). This file is research notes with
per-claim citations, contested claims flagged, fringe claims refused. It is grounding substrate,
NOT canon; chapter/numerical/naming decisions remain Josh's (do-not-invent).
Note on the local corpus: the RCM Ch 5 section (`_source/01_.../T1_Research_Corpus_Master
[ACTIVE v1.1.4].md`, the "Ch 5 Sumatra-Java" block ~line 2121) is keyed to the Sumatra-Java
excursion; it carries NO Champa/Cham substrate. The Champa material below is entirely
web-scholarly + living-community sourced, as expected for a SPREAD add that post-dates the RCM.
