KIT_BE_0013_S4 -- The sorcerer-lion of the night -- the hunt you are standing inside of

CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order: docs/DOC_MAP.md § 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):
T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry · docs/spine/CH_13.md
READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. A lion that is not looking at you, and will not, and that is the problem.

Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE FIXATION LINE -- it passes close enough to touch and its attention goes THROUGH you. Free, unharmed, and it is the whole encounter: you are not what it came for, and until that changes nothing you do lands.

phases -- evolve, never swap

phasenamewhat it PUSHES (nothing pops)
1the huntit wants one man. The player is scenery to it, weapons do not land, and the job is geometry.
2the turnBE_0013_S4's evolve-not-swap clause: THE SAME NIGHT-LUNGE GRAMMAR, NOW AIMED AT WHOEVER IS IN FRONT OF IT RATHER THAN THROUGH THEM. Nothing new; the same moves, finally addressed to you.

1The Fixation Line1non-ordinarythe whole body, aimed past the playerits attention goes THROUGH you and never at youanynoneLORE GROUND: BE_0013_S4's own counters cell, verbatim -- 'read the fixation line -- it goes through the player and never at them, which is the tell AND THE PROOF THAT DAMAGE IS NOT THE ANSWER YET'. MECHANISM: the /Xam account of the sorcerer-lion is of a hunt with ONE object; the fixation is what makes it unkillable, so the fixation is the mechanic. ontology_class = CONDEMNED. Element none -- the tradition names no element. The opener, and it is the fight's thesis delivered by being ignored.
2The Night-Lunge1physicalhindquarters and shoulders, from outside the firelightthe grass line goes quiet on one sidedodge_only----PHYSICAL. It is a lion and it moves like one; that is half of what makes it frightening.
3The Low Circle1physicala wide prowl at the edge of the lightit crosses the same ground in the same direction twicecover----
4The Weapons That Do Not Land1non-ordinarythe fixation, holdinga clean strike arrives and does nothingneutralizenoneLORE GROUND: BE_0013_S4 -- 'the fixation holds AND WEAPONS DO NOT LAND'. MECHANISM: this is the row's own statement and the kit does not soften it; the answer in phase 1 is not damage. Element none. The most important refusal in the slice: the game takes the sword away for a whole phase.
5The Ground Between1physicalthe player's own body, put in the linethe fixation bends around you rather than through youtrigger_interrupt----The row's counter -- 'put ground, water and the shelter mouth between it and the man it wants'. This is the first of the three.
6The Water1physicalthe pan's standing water, crossedit takes the long waycover----The second of the three. EG_0224 and the sand-country pan both carry it.
7The Shelter Mouth1physicalthe overhang, and a man inside itit stops at the drip lineany----The third. The row names all three and the kit authors all three.
8The Thing That Makes It Unkillable1non-ordinarythe object of the hunt, still in reacheverything about it is answerable except the part that mattersweak_pointnoneLORE GROUND: BE_0013_S4 -- 'the turn, once ITS OBJECT IS OUT OF REACH and the thing that made it unkillable is gone'. MECHANISM: the invulnerability is CONDITIONAL and the condition is a person's location. Element none. The named weak point of phase 1, and it is somebody else's safety.
9The Aimed Night-Lunge2physicalthe same lunge, at youthe grass line goes quiet and the attention comes WITH itdodge_only----The row's evolve-not-swap clause: the same grammar, addressed. And the row's own phase-2 counter -- 'the night-lunge -> a side-break on the commit'.
10The Aimed Low Circle2physicalthe same prowl, closingit crosses the same ground twice and the second pass is nearercover----The row's second phase-2 counter -- 'the low circle -> hold the high ground it will not take'.
11The High Ground Refused2physicalits own unwillingness to climbit stops at the base of the rockany----PHYSICAL, and it is a real cat behaviour used exactly as the row names it.
12The Ordinary Death2non-ordinarythe thing, now killablea strike landsanynoneLORE GROUND: BE_0013_S4 win_condition = FREE;REDUCE, has_nonkill_path = TRUE. MECHANISM: with its object safe it is a dangerous animal and nothing more, and FREE is the row's own first verb -- getting the man out is the win, and the kill is optional. Element none.

ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 4 of the 12 moves

above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its

mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather

than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in

which everything glows.

turf and relocation (MHM-G8, MHM-G9)

IT ENTERS from outside the firelight, on its own schedule. IT RELOCATES around whatever it wants, never around the player. IT LEAVES when its object does. WHAT IT DOES TO THE ARENA: it makes the player's own position irrelevant, which is a terrifying thing for a combat system to do and the reason this encounter is the chapter's best.

the care read

care_tier = elevated, ontology_class = CONDEMNED, target_type = folklore_malevolent_being, has_nonkill_path = TRUE, win_condition = FREE;REDUCE. THE /XAM FOLKLORE-COMBAT CLASS, STAGED AT LAST -- the sorcerer-lion is the tradition's own condemned being and it is rendered as the tradition condemns it: a hunt with one object, unkillable while it holds it. The rated-M bar rules this toward the fight and the kit obeys, but the WIN IS FREE: getting the man out is the victory and the kill is optional afterwards. Nothing in this encounter accuses a living person, and no /Xam or San person is ever a target -- the being is the being. The hunting-people's own working grounds (EG_0209, EG_0211) are care-bound and are never burned, poisoned or destroyed.

difficulty-mode expression

This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4

express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups

on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes

toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and

phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes

with the tier.
