CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):

READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. A story that has decided to have a conversation with you.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE FIRST WAGER -- an offer that is generous, clear, and obviously fair. It costs nothing to hear. It is the whole encounter: every later wager is this one with a premise moved, and the first one is fair so the player can feel the difference.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the riddle-and-wager | a contest of terms. Nothing materialises yet and nothing can hurt anyone. |
| 2 | the materialized argument | BE_0012_S3's evolve-not-swap clause: it COMPOUNDS THE WORDPLAY-FORMS AND TIGHTENS THE WAGER WINDOWS. |
| # | ability | phase | kind | body origin | tell shape | counter | element | lore ground + mechanism | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The First Wager | 1 | non-ordinary | the story itself, offering terms | an offer whose terms are actually fair | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3 target_type = materialized_folklore_construct, the first Type-6 Trickster Puzzle, threads = T11. MECHANISM: Akan Anansesem is a story cycle in which the spider wins by TERMS, so the encounter's weapon is a proposition; element none because a wager has no element and giving it one would be padding. | MHM-G10: the fair wager is the root every rigged one is a variant of. |
| 2 | The Moved Premise | 1 | non-ordinary | the same offer, with one assumption changed | the terms are identical and one word is different | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3's own counter -- 'read the false premise and refuse the rigged wager'. MECHANISM: the trick is always in the premise, never in the arithmetic. Element none. | |
| 3 | The Story-Trap | 1 | non-ordinary | a narrative that has to be walked through | the argument acquires a shape with a middle | dodge_only | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3 engagement_modes_object -- Puzzle-dominant, axis_split = 20/55/25. MECHANISM: the materialized argument occupies space and a wrong step inside it is a wrong step in the reasoning. Element none. | The row's second counter -- 'time the evade to the story-trap's turn'. |
| 4 | The Flattery Clause | 1 | non-ordinary | a term that praises the player | the wager gets better when you object to it | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: the Anansesem cycle's own method, carried on BE_0012_S3. MECHANISM: the spider concedes to bind; a concession is a hook. Element none. | |
| 5 | The Audience | 1 | physical | the people at the crossroads, listening | the crowd laughs before you have finished speaking | any | -- | -- | PHYSICAL. A story fights in front of people and the room is the scoreboard. |
| 6 | The Refused Wager | 1 | non-ordinary | the contest, when a rigged term is simply declined | the offer is withdrawn rather than argued | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3's counter -- 'REFUSE the rigged wager'. MECHANISM: refusal is a legal move and the encounter rewards it. Element none. | The most important ability in the kit and it is the player saying no. |
| 7 | The Compounded Form | 2 | non-ordinary | two wordplay-forms nested | a term that is a premise inside another premise | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3's evolve-not-swap clause -- 'compounds the wordplay-forms'. MECHANISM: nesting, not novelty. Element none. | |
| 8 | The Tightened Window | 2 | non-ordinary | the wager's own acceptance period | the offer expires while you are reading it | trigger_interrupt | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3's same clause -- 'tightens the wager windows'. MECHANISM: time pressure on a reading problem. Element none. | |
| 9 | The Materialized Argument | 2 | non-ordinary | the contest, taking a shape that acts | the story stops being told and starts standing there | dodge_only | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3 phase_breakdown_object -- 'the argument MATERIALIZES and must be out-reasoned'. MECHANISM: the same class as BE_0003_S3's proverb-constructs and BE_0006's counterfeit. Element none. | |
| 10 | The Borrowed Win | 2 | non-ordinary | the argument claiming a victory it did not get | it declares the wager settled | weak_point | none | LORE GROUND: the Anansesem method again, on BE_0012_S3. MECHANISM: the spider's last trick is asserting the outcome; the weak point is the assertion. Element none. | |
| 11 | The Out-Reasoning | 2 | non-ordinary | the trick, named out loud | the audience gets there a beat before you do | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3 win_condition = PERCEIVE;REFUTE, character_engagement_node = phase=P1;verb=declare. MECHANISM: the win is a naming, and the room has to hear it. Element none. | |
| 12 | The Story Ends Well | 2 | non-ordinary | the contest, conceded gracefully | it laughs | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0012_S3 win_condition = PERCEIVE;REFUTE. MECHANISM: Anansi loses wagers in the tradition and it is never a tragedy. Element none. | Nothing is killed. It was a story and it stays one. |
ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 11 of the 12 moves
above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its
mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather
than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in
which everything glows.

|---|---|---|---|
| the moved premise | The Moved Premise (2), The Flattery Clause (4) and The Compounded Form (7) all resolve once the player has named a premise correctly twice | the wagers stop being longer than they need to be | nothing harvested |
| the audience's patience | The Audience (5) turns: the crowd starts laughing at the trick rather than at the player, and The Borrowed Win (10) stops working | the room's reaction inverts, which is audible | nothing harvested -- and there is nothing to take from a story |

IT ENTERS at a crossroads, which is where it belongs. IT DOES NOT RELOCATE. IT LEAVES laughing. WHAT IT DOES TO THE ARENA: it makes an audience into terrain, exactly as BE_0003_S3 does -- the two are a deliberate pair a chapter apart.
care_tier = elevated, target_type = materialized_folklore_construct, threads = T11. ANANSI IS NOT A MONSTER AND IS NEVER FOUGHT. Akan Anansesem is a living story cycle in which the spider is a trickster who wins and loses by terms, and the encounter is a CONTEST, not a combat -- nothing is damaged and nothing dies. The tradition's own shape is honoured: he concedes gracefully and the story ends well. The okyeame's register is referenced with respect and never parodied.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
