CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):
T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry·docs/spine/CH_12.md
READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. A ship's officer on land, commanding men who are better armed than anyone here.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE PRESENTED LINE -- his musketeers form and do not fire. Free, and it teaches the volley's shape before it costs anything.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the raid | his line and his crew against a town. Formation fighting. |
| 2 | the cornering | BE_0012_S1's evolve-not-swap clause: it TIGHTENS THE VOLLEY WINDOWS AND IMPORTS THE RAID CADENCE. |
| # | ability | phase | body origin | tell shape | counter | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Presented Line | 1 | the musketeers, formed | they level and hold | any | |
| 2 | The Volley | 1 | the line, on his word | he raises his hand and the line steadies | cover | The row's counter -- 'the musket volley -> hard cover or a dodge-roll'. |
| 3 | The Reload | 1 | the line's own drill | the muskets come down together | any | The gap. Free to see, and the whole first phase turns on it. |
| 4 | The Cutlass Lunge | 1 | his own arm, from a seaman's guard | his lead foot slides before his arm moves | parry_only | The row's second counter -- 'the cutlass lunge -> a parry-riposte or a stagger-break'. |
| 5 | The Boarding Rush | 1 | his crew, in a wedge | they stop shooting and close in one body | cover | |
| 6 | The Taken Ground | 1 | the line advancing to the town's first houses | they fire from between buildings instead of open ground | dodge_only | |
| 7 | The Crew's Hesitation | 1 | a sailor who did not sign for this | one man reloads slower than the drill | trigger_interrupt | They are crew, not soldiers, and some of them can be turned. |
| 8 | The Tightened Volley | 2 | the same line, on a shorter count | the muskets come down and go straight back up | cover | MHM-G10's variant law: ability 2's root with the reload gap halved. |
| 9 | The Imported Cadence | 2 | his own attacks, on the raid's beat | his lunges arrive on the volley's interval | parry_only | PATTERN COUNTER: the read is the interval the player learned in phase 1. |
| 10 | The Pistol | 2 | a belt pistol at contact range | his off hand goes to his belt | cover | |
| 11 | The Back to the Water | 2 | his own retreat toward the lagoon lane | he gives ground toward the surf | any | |
| 12 | The Struck Colours | 2 | a sword reversed | the line stops before he does | any | win_condition = REDUCE. His crew stops first, which is the point. |
CLASS PURITY (tooth T5). Every move above is physical. No element family, no vril
mechanism, no non-ordinary affordance appears in this kit, because this being's own canon
row carries no hollow row, no lore home and nothing that elevates it. It is dangerous the
way the real animal or the real person is dangerous, engineered up until it reads at the
shipped combat camera. TIMID here would mean BORING-PHYSICAL, never insufficiently magical.

| the line's discipline | The Volley (2), The Tightened Volley (8) and The Presented Line (1) lose their formation | the shots stop being simultaneous | nothing harvested |
| his cutlass | The Cutlass Lunge (4) and The Imported Cadence (9) lose their instrument | he fights with the pistol alone, which has one shot in it | nothing harvested |

HE ENTERS from the beach with a formed line. HE RELOCATES toward buildings, which is where his volley is worth most. HE LEAVES toward the water. WHAT HE DOES TO THE ARENA: he takes the town's own streets and uses them as firing lanes.
care_tier = elevated, target_type = oppressor_apparatus. MUNDANE. The barracoon is geometry and never spectacle; the people held in it are never depicted, counted or described, and the encounter's purpose is stopping the raid. The antagonist is the factory system, routed per CVD 17.1; the crew are sailors and some of them stop.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
