CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):
T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry·docs/spine/CH_10.md
READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. A smaller panel in an alcove, dimming at the edge.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE REHEARSAL MISREAD -- the same free re-perceive the main encounter guarantees, on a surface where the stake is small. It is the tutorial and it says so.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | perception | the read alone. Deliberately forgiving. |
| 2 | vril-management | the second step layered onto the held read. The main encounter's phases 1-2, at rehearsal scale. |
| # | ability | phase | kind | body origin | tell shape | counter | element | lore ground + mechanism | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Rehearsal Misread | 1 | non-ordinary | the lesser panel, read wrongly | the reading does not settle, and it is free | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1's own counters cell -- 'a misread grants a free re-perceive'. MECHANISM: identical to the main encounter's guarantee, at lower stakes. Element none. | |
| 2 | The Small Register | 1 | non-ordinary | the alcove panel's own forms | one form belongs and one does not | weak_point | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1 composure_nodes = puzzle_routed=lesser_panel_read. MECHANISM: the entoptic read at teaching scale. Element none. | |
| 3 | The Node's Feeding-Tell | 1 | non-ordinary | the sickness-node, drawing | the alcove dims twice before anything else | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1 -- 'the feeding-tell telegraphs twice before consequence'. MECHANISM: the same double-telegraph guarantee. Element none. | |
| 4 | The Slow Encroachment | 1 | non-ordinary | the node's edge on the panel | the dimming's boundary moves one hand's width per cycle | cover | none | LORE GROUND: EG_0148 Lesser-Panel Alcove and Protocol-Rehearsal Apron, hard_blocked. MECHANISM: the stake is the same and it is smaller. Element none. | |
| 5 | The Ambiguous Form | 1 | non-ordinary | a shape that reads both ways | a form that is neither clearly the panel's nor clearly the node's | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1 target_type = environmental_protocol_boss_folklore_malevolent_being. MECHANISM: the genuinely undecidable case, included so the player learns that 'undecided' is an answer. Element none. | |
| 6 | The Second Read | 1 | non-ordinary | the same form, from a different position | the ambiguity resolves when you move | any | none | LORE GROUND: the cross-readable structure BE_0010 establishes. MECHANISM: position is the second channel, and it is free. Element none. | The rehearsal's kindest teaching: when a read will not settle, move. |
| 7 | The Inner Heat, Rehearsed | 2 | non-ordinary | the reader's own body under a held read | the heat rises while the read is still required | trigger_interrupt | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1 composure_nodes = vril_management=inner_heat_rehearse. MECHANISM: the stack-hold, introduced. Element none. | |
| 8 | The Drifting Read | 2 | non-ordinary | phase 1's perception, under the new load | a settled reading starts moving again | weak_point | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1's 'layered onto the HELD read'. MECHANISM: the earlier step is held, not banked. Element none. | |
| 9 | The Forgiving Slip | 2 | non-ordinary | the encounter, giving the step back | a dropped hold can be picked up without restarting | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1 -- 'damage impossible, DELIBERATELY FORGIVING'. MECHANISM: the row's own word, made into an ability: dropping a hold here is recoverable, and in the main encounter it is not. Element none. | The difference between the rehearsal and the real thing, stated in one move. |
| 10 | The Node's Reach | 2 | non-ordinary | the sickness-node, extending | the dimming reaches the alcove's far edge | cover | none | LORE GROUND: same EG_0148 context. MECHANISM: the loss condition, and it is slow. Element none. | |
| 11 | The Node Recedes | 2 | non-ordinary | the encroachment, pushed back by a held stack | the alcove's edge brightens | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1 win_condition = PERCEIVE;PURGE. MECHANISM: the same purgation, two steps instead of four. Element none. | |
| 12 | The Panel Kept | 2 | non-ordinary | the lesser panel, legible | the dimming stops | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0010_S1 win_condition = PERCEIVE;PURGE, care_tier = high. MECHANISM: the win is a wall that is still readable. Element none. |
ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 12 of the 12 moves
above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its
mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather
than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in
which everything glows.

IT DOES NOT ENTER OR LEAVE. It is on a wall. WHAT IT DOES TO THE ARENA: nothing but take it, slowly.
care_tier = high. Same constraints as BE_0010 and stated rather than inherited: damage impossible, panel never touched, entoptic material referenced and never reproduced, HL_0121 and the full EG_0148 stack binding. This encounter exists so that the player arrives at the main protocol having already been forgiven for getting it wrong.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
