CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):
T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry·docs/spine/CH_09.md
READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. Three men and a line of traps, moving faster uphill than you are.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE SET SNARE -- one trap, visible, on the path ahead, and nobody near it. Free. It teaches that the crew has been here for weeks and the ground is already theirs.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the pursuit | a chase at altitude across scree and lobelia belt. Endurance and route choice; they are not fighting yet. |
| 2 | the cornering | BE_0009_S2's evolve-not-swap clause: it STEEPENS THE PURSUIT. Same chase, worse ground, until the escarpment ends it. |
| # | ability | phase | body origin | tell shape | counter | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Set Snare | 1 | a wire trap on the path | a trap is visible and nobody is near it | any | |
| 2 | The Thin Air | 1 | the player's own lungs at altitude | your recovery between sprints is longer than it was | neutralize | PHYSICAL: EG_0128's own exposure_hazard = altitude. Pacing is the answer, and the row names it -- 'use the altitude ... to outpace the crew'. |
| 3 | Scree Traverse | 1 | the crew crossing loose rock at speed | they take the unstable line rather than the solid one | dodge_only | |
| 4 | The Lobelia Screen | 1 | the giant-heath belt's own cover | a man goes into the stand and does not come out where he should | cover | EG_0129 is COVER class, enemy_usable = TRUE, and it is genuinely tall enough to hide a person. |
| 5 | The Rifle Rest | 1 | one poacher, braced, at range | he stops climbing | cover | |
| 6 | The Wolves' Ground | 1 | the endemic wolves' own hunting range | the crew avoids a whole slope for no visible reason | neutralize | The row's counter -- 'use the altitude and the ENDEMIC WOLVES' OWN GROUND to outpace the crew'. The animals are not fought; their range is knowledge, and knowing it is the answer. |
| 7 | The Cut Line | 1 | the crew abandoning traps to move faster | they leave equipment behind | any | |
| 8 | The Steepened Line | 2 | the same route, higher | the chase leaves the path entirely | trigger_interrupt | |
| 9 | The Cliff-Edge Pocket | 2 | the crew's chosen fallback | they stop running with a drop behind them | parry_only | EG_0130 is CONSTRICTION, enemy_usable = TRUE, loaded_potential = gravitational. They chose it, which is tier-4 behaviour and a mistake. |
| 10 | The Desperate Rush | 2 | a cornered man with a hunting spear | he comes forward instead of sideways | dodge_only | |
| 11 | The Escarpment Cutoff | 2 | the player's own route, closing the last exit | there is one way off the shelf and you are on it | any | The row's second counter -- 'cut off their escape along the escarpment'. |
| 12 | The Surrender | 2 | hands, and dropped equipment | the spear goes down before the man does | any | win_condition = REDUCE. They are poachers, not soldiers, and most of them stop. |
CLASS PURITY (tooth T5). Every move above is physical. No element family, no vril
mechanism, no non-ordinary affordance appears in this kit, because this being's own canon
row carries no hollow row, no lore home and nothing that elevates it. It is dangerous the
way the real animal or the real person is dangerous, engineered up until it reads at the
shipped combat camera. TIMID here would mean BORING-PHYSICAL, never insufficiently magical.
| part | moveset subtraction on break | legibility gain | material the economy wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| the trap line | The Set Snare (1) and The Cut Line (7) lose their inventory -- the crew has nothing left to abandon and nothing left to catch | the paths stop being dangerous, which changes the whole chase | the wire and the traps, taken OUT of the range -- the only harvest in the kit and it is a removal |
| the rifle | The Rifle Rest (5) leaves the moveset | the chase becomes a footrace, which the player can win | nothing harvested |

|---|---|
| posture | they stop looking back and start looking for ground |
| breath | theirs is worse than the player's by the second phase, and it is audible |
| vocal | they stop calling to each other and start calling to one man |
| opener | The Set Snare is retired; The Steepened Line becomes the standing state |
THEY ENTER already ahead of the player. THEY RELOCATE upward, always, because that is where their ground is. THEY LEAVE cornered. WHAT THEY DO TO THE ARENA: they had already done it -- the traps were set before the chapter started.
care_tier = elevated, target_type = oppressor_apparatus, threads = T18. MUNDANE, and the ENDEMIC WOLVES ARE NEVER FOUGHT: ability 6 makes their range a piece of knowledge rather than an encounter, which is the correct handling for a critically endangered species being poached. The antagonist is the trade that pays for the pelts; these are three men working for it, and most of them surrender.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
