CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):
T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry·T0_Character_Index·docs/spine/CH_07.md
READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. A man in a sunken pit who has done this ten thousand times.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE SALUTE -- the formal opening of the bout, offered and held. He waits for it to be returned. It costs nothing, it cannot hurt anyone, and it is the fight's whole thesis: this is a TEST, and everything he does is a question.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the formal test | kalari forms, offered in sequence, each one a question with a correct answer. He is not trying to win. |
| 2 | marma-point pressure | BE_0007's evolve-not-swap clause: it TIGHTENS AND DEEPENS THE SAME MARMA EXCHANGES. Nothing new enters the fight -- the same points, pressed harder, with less margin. The row states it plainly: a measure, not a kill. |
| 3 | recognition | he stops testing. Everything persists; what is pushed is his reading of what he has been shown, and the fight ends in it. |
| # | ability | phase | body origin | tell shape | counter | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Salute | 1 | both hands and a step, at the pit's edge | he offers the opening and waits | any | |
| 2 | Vadivu Shift | 1 | the whole body, changing animal stance | his base drops and his lead hand changes height | any | The eight animal postures are the fight's alphabet. Reading which stance he is in tells you which four abilities are live, and that is the whole skill. |
| 3 | Straight Entry | 1 | rear leg driving, lead hand leading | his rear heel lifts and the lead hand extends | parry_only | |
| 4 | Low Sweep | 1 | the trailing leg through the ankle line | his base drops below the stance he was in | dodge_only | |
| 5 | Kaduthala Cut | 1 | shoulder and wrist, a descending sword line | the blade goes above his shoulder line | parry_only | |
| 6 | Otta Thrust | 1 | the curved wooden weapon, driven at a point | the otta's tip stops moving before he does | dodge_only | The otta exists to strike marma points and the fight tells the player so by using it gently first. |
| 7 | The Question | 1 | no strike -- an opening deliberately offered | he leaves a line open and does not close it | any | He is asking whether the player takes a free hit on a man who is testing them. Both answers are read. |
| 8 | Urumi Arc | 1 | the flexible blade, from a full body rotation | his whole trunk winds and the blade is not visible | cover | The one weapon in the fight the player cannot parry, and the arena's low wall is the answer. |
| 9 | The Reset | 1 | a full disengage to the pit's east stair | he walks back to the entrance and re-salutes | any | Tier-4 discipline: he resets the bout rather than pressing an advantage the test does not need. |
| 10 | Marma Press -- Adhipati | 2 | fingertips, at the crown line | his hand goes above the player's guard and STOPS | dodge_only | He does not complete it. That restraint is the phase-2 escalation and it is far more frightening than a strike. |
| 11 | Marma Press -- Sringataka | 2 | a two-finger drive at the throat's hollow | his hand turns edge-on before it travels | parry_only | |
| 12 | Marma Press -- Kurcha | 2 | the thumb into the hand's own web | he takes your weapon hand instead of attacking your body | trigger_interrupt | The row's counter -- 'answer a marma strike with the correct kalari defense'. The interrupt is a specific release, taught earlier in the chapter. |
| 13 | The Chained Points | 2 | three presses in sequence, each opening the next | the first press lands and he does not withdraw | weak_point | PATTERN COUNTER: no single press is answerable in isolation; the read is the SEQUENCE, and the counter is breaking it at the second. |
| 14 | The Tightened Form | 2 | the same straight entry, from inside the pit's centre | his rear heel lifts and he is already inside your reach | dodge_only | MHM-G10's variant law: ability 3's root at a distance where the parry does not exist. |
| 15 | The Healing Hand | 2 | his own hands, on a point he just pressed | he touches the point he struck | any | A kalari master is a healer. He undoes what he does, mid-bout, and it is the clearest possible statement of what kind of fight this is. |
| 16 | The Honest Read | 3 | no strike -- his attention on how the player has been fighting | he stops answering your attacks and starts watching them | any | PATTERN COUNTER: the row's second counter -- 'meet his testing with honest fighting that reads clean'. What he is reading is the whole bout, and the answer was every choice in it. |
| 17 | The Full Exchange | 3 | everything at once, once | he uses all eight stances inside a single exchange | parry_only | The only time he fights to win, and it lasts one exchange. |
| 18 | Recognition | 3 | a lowered weapon and a spoken judgement | he steps back and salutes again | any | win_condition = PACIFY, has_nonkill_path = TRUE, character_engagement_node = phase=P3;verb=spare-or-kill;integrity_routed=true. The fight ends in a verdict, and the verdict is about the player. |
CLASS PURITY (tooth T5). Every move above is physical. No element family, no vril
mechanism, no non-ordinary affordance appears in this kit, because this being's own canon
row carries no hollow row, no lore home and nothing that elevates it. It is dangerous the
way the real animal or the real person is dangerous, engineered up until it reads at the
shipped combat camera. TIMID here would mean BORING-PHYSICAL, never insufficiently magical.
| part | moveset subtraction on break | legibility gain | material the economy wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| the urumi | Urumi Arc (8) leaves the moveset and the pit's low wall stops being load-bearing | his rotation stops concealing a blade, which makes his whole body readable again | nothing harvested -- he is a living master and the part economy pays only in legibility |
| the otta | Otta Thrust (6) and the Kurcha press (12) both lose their instrument | the marma work moves to bare hands, which is closer and slower and easier to read | nothing harvested |
| his testing distance | The Question (7), The Reset (9) and The Honest Read (16) stop being available -- once the player has closed inside his teaching range he is simply fighting | the bout stops having pauses in it | nothing harvested. Taking this part is a CHOICE with a cost: it removes the encounter's own teaching structure and makes phase 3 harder to reach well |

They bound the space and are NEVER fought over, struck, or used as cover.| channel | what the player sees or hears |
|---|---|
| posture | he stops changing stance between exchanges and holds one -- a kalari master who has stopped moving through the vadivu has stopped teaching |
| breath | his breathing, which has been audible and metrical from the first exchange, goes silent |
| vocal | he stops naming the forms as he offers them |
| opener | The Salute is retired; Straight Entry becomes the opener and the marma set is live |
HE ENTERS down the single eastern stair, formally. HE RELOCATES within the pit only, and always back to its centre. HE LEAVES by recognising the player, or by being beaten -- and the row's own words are that this is a measure, not a kill. WHAT HE DOES TO THE ARENA: nothing. He is the only B4 in the slice that touches no object, and that restraint is his characterisation.
MUNDANE, and it is the batch's whole argument -- a three-phase chapter boss with no vril, no element and no construct. care_tier = standard, target_type = honorable_adversary, has_nonkill_path = TRUE, win_condition = PACIFY. He is UNCORRUPTED: the row's own word. He is not an antagonist, he is an enforcer doing his job honestly, and the encounter is a test he is administering. Kalaripayattu is depicted as the complete martial and medical system it is -- ability 15 exists because a kalari gurukkal heals, and leaving that out would have been the real disrespect. HL_0001 and HL_0007 bind through the pit's own rows; the puttara is never touched.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
