CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):

READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. Something at the top of the hill that the hill has been complaining about.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE OPPRESSION -- the ascent simply becomes worse, everywhere, at once, and nothing is visible. Free, and it establishes what an asura of this class actually is: not a body in your way, a condition on the place.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the oppression | it holds the abode-ascent. The pressure is environmental and the asura is not yet a target. |
| 2 | the putting-down | BE_0007_S3's evolve-not-swap clause: it DEEPENS THE OPPRESSION rather than adding attacks. The same weight, more of it, while the ascent is completed in the right spirit and the thing is struck. |
| # | ability | phase | kind | body origin | tell shape | counter | element | lore ground + mechanism | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Oppression | 1 | non-ordinary | the hill itself, under the asura's hold | the ascent's own difficulty rises with no visible cause | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0007_S3 target_type = mythological_monster_folklore_combat, a Surapadman-class asura at Palani, threads = T18;T19. MECHANISM: this class of asura holds a PLACE, so its first expression is a condition on terrain; element none -- the tradition names dominion, not an element, and supplying one would be invention. | The opener, and it has no body in it. |
| 2 | The Heat | 1 | physical | the abode-hill's own exposure | the stone is too hot to hold before noon | neutralize | -- | -- | PHYSICAL -- EG_0088's own exposure_hazard = heat. Pacing and shade are the answer. |
| 3 | The Marker Silence | 1 | non-ordinary | the ascent's stations, giving no answer | a station that should read gives nothing back | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0007_S3's own counter -- 'read the abode's markers to answer the asura's forms'. MECHANISM: the hold suppresses the place's own registers, so restoring a marker's answer is how the player takes ground. Element none. | |
| 4 | The Narrowed Way | 1 | physical | the pilgrim ascent's own width | the way ahead is a single file where it was two | cover | -- | -- | EG_0088 is CONSTRICTION class and the hold uses it. |
| 5 | The Borrowed Shape | 1 | non-ordinary | the asura, taking a form off the hill | a rock or a tree on the path is in a place it was not | dodge_only | Earth | LORE GROUND: the Surapadman account's own shape-taking, carried on BE_0007_S3's mythological_monster_folklore_combat type. MECHANISM: it wears the terrain it holds; Earth because the carrier is the hill's own material. | |
| 6 | The Weight on the Climb | 1 | physical | the climber's own limbs | your endurance drains on the flat sections as fast as on the steep | trigger_interrupt | -- | -- | |
| 7 | The Refusal of the Summit | 1 | non-ordinary | the abode's own approach, turned back | the shrine court is further than the last time you looked | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0007_S3 -- 'the asura OPPRESSES THE ABODE-ASCENT'. MECHANISM: the hold's purpose is to keep people from arriving, so distance is its weapon. Element none. | |
| 8 | The Deepened Hold | 2 | non-ordinary | the whole hill, harder | the oppression is present on ground that was clear | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0007_S3's evolve-not-swap clause -- 'deepens the oppression rather than adding attacks'. MECHANISM: more of the same. Element none. | |
| 9 | The Form Made | 2 | non-ordinary | the asura, finally embodied on the path | the borrowed shapes converge into one that stays | parry_only | Earth | LORE GROUND: the Soorasamharam is the ENACTED SLAYING -- the tradition's own festival re-enactment, named on BE_0007_S3. MECHANISM: it has to take a body to be slain, and the tradition's whole narrative is that it does. Element Earth, the same carrier as ability 5. | The rated-M content bar working as ruled: a myth's own demon is a BOSS and the fight is staged. |
| 10 | The Asura's Reach | 2 | physical | the made form's arms, at the path's width | it fills the constriction rather than standing in it | cover | -- | -- | |
| 11 | The Committed Blow | 2 | physical | the form's whole mass, downward | it raises its upper mass and pauses | dodge_only | -- | -- | |
| 12 | The Slaying | 2 | non-ordinary | the strike, delivered in the demon-slaying spirit | the form stops borrowing from the hill and is only itself | weak_point | Earth | LORE GROUND: BE_0007_S3 win_condition = REDUCE, has_nonkill_path = FALSE, and its own counter -- 'hold the ascent in the demon-slaying tradition's own bearing'. MECHANISM: the weak point exists only when it is fully embodied, which is why the ascent has to be completed first. Element Earth. | has_nonkill_path = FALSE and that is CORRECT: the tradition's account is a slaying, and softening it would be the disrespect. |
ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 7 of the 12 moves
above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its
mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather
than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in
which everything glows.
| part | moveset subtraction on break | legibility gain | material the economy wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| the borrowed shapes | The Borrowed Shape (5) and The Asura's Reach (10) lose their material once the marked stations are restored -- it can no longer wear the hill | the path stops rearranging itself, which is the clearest possible sign the player is winning | nothing harvested from the hill; the stations are restored, not stripped |
| the hold on the summit | The Refusal of the Summit (7) and The Deepened Hold (8) resolve; the ascent's distance becomes honest | the shrine court is visible and stays visible | nothing extracted |
EG_0088 Abode-Hill Pilgrim Ascent Way -- CARE-BOUND, GEOMETRY ONLY: hard_blocked, HL_0001;HL_0005;HL_0007, CONSTRICTION, exposure_hazard = heat, enemy_usable = TRUE, attack_verbs = none. The pilgrim way is the arena and it is never damaged, blocked or armed -- the asura's hold is a CONDITION on it, which is the only way a protected site can carry a fight.EG_0089 Abode Summit Shrine Court and Measure Pocket -- CARE-BOUND, GEOMETRY ONLY: hard_blocked, enemy_usable = FALSE, attack_verbs = none. The shrine is the destination and is never a combat volume.EG_0090 Laterite Ghats Flank and Monsoon Gully -- BOTH: heals_over, no care ref, exposure_hazard = drag. The off-path ground, and the one row in this fight either side may actually spend.| channel | what the player sees or hears |
|---|---|
| posture | the borrowed shapes stop being scattered and start being adjacent |
| breath | the climber's, and the hill's -- the wind on the ascent stops entirely |
| vocal | the pilgrims' own calls from further down the path stop arriving |
| opener | The Oppression is retired; The Form Made becomes the opener of phase 2 |
IT ENTERS as a condition and only later as a body. IT RELOCATES by wearing different parts of the hill. IT LEAVES by being slain. WHAT IT DOES TO THE ARENA: it IS the arena until phase 2, which is what makes the moment it takes a form feel like a reward.
care_tier = standard, target_type = mythological_monster_folklore_combat, has_nonkill_path = FALSE. THE STANDING CONTENT BAR RULES THIS ONE AND IT RULES IT TOWARD THE FIGHT: a tradition's own demon is a BOSS, and the Soorasamharam is the tradition's own ENACTED SLAYING -- an annual re-enactment in which the demon is put down. Refusing to stage it, or bolting on a spare-the-asura route, would be the timid option and the wrong one. has_nonkill_path = FALSE is the row's own cell and it is respected. What is NOT done: the deity is not the player, the player does not stand in for Murugan, and the abode itself is never fought in. HL_0001, HL_0005 and HL_0007 bind through the ascent's rows.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
