CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):

READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. A stair with no end visible, and a great many people on it.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE FIRST STATION -- a marker at the path's edge, and passing it costs nothing. It is free, and it names the mechanic: the climb has STATIONS, each belonging to a tradition, and each is a thing to attune to rather than an obstacle.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the hardening | the path resists a depleted or disrespectful climb. Pacing, recharge and attunement; nothing attacks. |
| 2 | the steepening | BE_0006_S3's evolve-not-swap clause: it STEEPENS THE SAME PATH. No new hazard is introduced; the same stair, harder, with the same answers. |
| # | ability | phase | kind | body origin | tell shape | counter | element | lore ground + mechanism | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The First Station | 1 | non-ordinary | a tradition's marker at the path's edge | a marker whose register is unfamiliar | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0006_S3 target_type = guardian_trial, threads = T18, and its own counter -- 'attune to each tradition's marker at its station'. MECHANISM: the peak is a shared pilgrimage of four traditions and the ascent reads whether the climber meets each on its own terms; element none because reverence has no elemental family. | Free, and the whole ladder in one step. |
| 2 | The Stair | 1 | physical | the stepped pilgrim way itself | the risers stop being even | any | -- | -- | |
| 3 | The Thin Air | 1 | physical | the climber's own lungs | your breath cost rises before the gradient does | neutralize | -- | -- | PHYSICAL: altitude is real. The row's counter -- 'endure the altitude by pacing the recharge'. |
| 4 | The Register Mismatch | 1 | non-ordinary | a station met in the wrong tradition's register | the marker does not answer, and the path ahead is harder | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: the same convergence framing on BE_0006_S3. MECHANISM: meeting a Buddhist station in a Hindu register is not an insult and not a failure -- it is simply not a meeting, and the path notices. Element none. | CARE: no tradition is ranked and none is the correct one -- see the care read. |
| 5 | The Crowd | 1 | physical | the other pilgrims on a stair built for one file | the way ahead has people on it and they are not moving | cover | -- | -- | PHYSICAL, and the reason this is not a solitary trial. The player is one of many. |
| 6 | The Cold Above the Cloud | 1 | non-ordinary | the mountain's own upper air | the cloud layer is BELOW you and the temperature drops through it | any | Ice | LORE GROUND: EG_0073's own exposure_hazard = altitude and EG_0074's hazard = cold. MECHANISM: the summit court is genuinely cold and the ascent's own environmental rows carry it; Ice is the family because the carrier is temperature and nothing else -- the smallest honest read of those cells. | |
| 7 | The Chain Section | 1 | physical | hand and arm on the fixed chains | the stair stops having a rail and starts having a chain | trigger_interrupt | -- | -- | |
| 8 | The Steepened Path | 2 | non-ordinary | the same stair, at a worse gradient | the risers you have been managing are taller | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0006_S3's evolve-not-swap clause -- 'steepens the same path'. MECHANISM: no new hazard; the same one, more of it. Element none. | |
| 9 | The Recharge Gap | 2 | physical | the distance between one rest and the next | the next station is further than the last | neutralize | -- | -- | PHYSICAL. composure_nodes = vril_management=recharge_pace_endure -- pacing IS the ability. |
| 10 | The Convergence | 2 | non-ordinary | all four registers, present at one station | a marker that belongs to more than one tradition at once | weak_point | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0006_S3's own name -- the CONVERGENCE-ascent -- and threads = T18. MECHANISM: the shared station cannot be met in one register alone, so the answer is to meet it as what it is: shared. Element none. | The named weak point of a trial, and it is a piece of understanding. |
| 11 | The Last Section | 2 | physical | the final steep run before the court | the chain ends | trigger_interrupt | -- | -- | |
| 12 | The Summit Opens | 2 | non-ordinary | the court, admitting the ascent | the way ahead simply continues | any | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0006_S3 win_condition = PURGE, win_shape = passage, has_nonkill_path = TRUE. MECHANISM: the win is arrival. Element none. | win_shape = passage -- the only one in the chapter, and the kit respects it. |
ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 6 of the 12 moves
above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its
mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather
than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in
which everything glows.
| part | moveset subtraction on break | legibility gain | material the economy wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| the player's own pacing | The Thin Air (3) and The Recharge Gap (9) stop being losses once the pace is correct | the ascent's own rhythm becomes visible in the stations passed per rest | nothing harvested |
| the mismatched register | The Register Mismatch (4) resolves permanently once a station is met correctly -- the hardening it caused is undone | the path ahead visibly eases, which is the trial telling the player they were heard | nothing extracted |

IT DOES NOT ENTER OR LEAVE. It is a mountain. WHAT IT DOES TO THE ARENA: it is the arena, and the only encounter in the chapter whose terrain and whose adversary are the same object.
care_tier = standard, target_type = guardian_trial, has_nonkill_path = TRUE, win_shape = passage. FOUR TRADITIONS SHARE THIS PEAK AND NONE OF THEM IS RANKED. Ability 4 makes a register mismatch a non-meeting rather than a sin, ability 10 makes the shared station the highest read in the kit, and the revered footprint at the summit is arrived at rather than examined. HL_0001 and HL_0007 bind through every environment row. Nothing is fought, nothing is damaged, and the encounter's only violence is gradient.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
