CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):
T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry·T0_Character_Index·docs/spine/CH_05.md
READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. A man of standing in his own compound, and two things standing behind him.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE STANDING CLAIM -- he states his authority, out loud, once, and does not move. Free, and it is the fight: everything he does is downstream of a claim he believes he can make.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the interception | the broker chain and the approach to the compound. He is not here yet; his money is. |
| 2 | the compound duel | BE_0005's evolve-not-swap clause is exact: it LAYERS horn-telegraphed guard-interrupts AND the spirit's neck-strike ONTO THE EXISTING DUEL SET. His own swordplay never stops and never changes -- two things are added behind it. |
| # | ability | phase | kind | body origin | tell shape | counter | element | lore ground + mechanism | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Standing Claim | 1 | physical | voice and posture, at the compound threshold | he speaks before anyone draws | any | -- | -- | |
| 2 | Retainer Line | 1 | physical | his household men, holding the courtyard's narrow side | they set their feet across the court's short axis | cover | -- | -- | |
| 3 | The Bought Testimony | 1 | physical | a witness who has been paid | a statement arrives that is too specific to be remembered | neutralize | -- | -- | PHYSICAL. The row's own counter -- 'bring the decoded institutional-destruction evidence for a pacify route bypassing phase 2'. Neutralize is the true document. |
| 4 | Piso Halasan Draw-Cut | 1 | physical | wrist and elbow, a short pull on the lead line | his lead hand turns palm-down | parry_only | -- | -- | |
| 5 | Compound Step | 1 | physical | footwork inside a court he knows and you do not | he moves to a flagstone rather than to a position | dodge_only | -- | -- | |
| 6 | The Closed Gate | 1 | physical | the compound's own entry, shut behind you | the courtyard gets smaller by one exit | any | -- | -- | |
| 7 | Guard Change | 1 | physical | two retainers rotating without a call | the man in front of you is a different man | any | -- | -- | PATTERN COUNTER: the rotation has a period and the gap is in the period, not in any one man's tell. |
| 8 | Horn Interrupt | 2 | physical | a household horn, sounded on his commit | a horn note arrives DURING his own attack | trigger_interrupt | -- | -- | The row's counter -- 'beat the horn-interrupt with a stagger-strike or gap-dodge'. It is his own guard being cued, which makes the horn the tell for a move that is not his. |
| 9 | The Unbinding | 2 | non-ordinary | the datu's own practice, releasing what he keeps | he stops fighting for exactly one beat and says a name | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0005's own phase_breakdown_object, verbatim -- 'he unbinds the begu ganjang he keeps (a datu-commanded killing-spirit striking the neck's vital-force; LINK_0147)'. MECHANISM: the begu ganjang is COMMANDED, not summoned from nowhere -- it is kept, and the keeping is the crime. Element none; the tradition names no element and the game supplies none. | The CASTING half of tier 5, and the row authorises it explicitly. |
| 10 | The Neck-Strike | 2 | non-ordinary | the begu ganjang, at the vital force rather than the body | the air behind your own shoulder goes cold before anything is visible | cover | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0005 -- 'a datu-commanded killing-spirit striking the neck's vital-force', LINK_0147. MECHANISM: it strikes the vital force directly, so armour is irrelevant and geometry is not; cover means interposing something, and the row's counter names Healer Boru Simanjuntak's ward as the other answer. Element none. | CARE: the honored sombaon/sumangot dead are held entirely apart -- see the care read. |
| 11 | The Ward Contest | 2 | non-ordinary | the healer's ward against the commanded spirit | the cold stops arriving on one side of you | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0005's counter -- 'break the begu ganjang's hold alongside Healer Boru Simanjuntak's ward (perceive its tell against the honored sombaon/sumangot dead)'. MECHANISM: the ward does not destroy it; it takes ground from it. Element none. | composure_nodes = vril_management=begu_ganjang_hold_break. This is that node, and the healer is an ALLY in it. |
| 12 | Pangulubalang Animation | 2 | non-ordinary | a war-construct, given motion | a standing figure in the court starts bearing weight | any | Earth | LORE GROUND: BE_0005 -- 'animates a pangulubalang war-construct'. MECHANISM: the pangulubalang is a made war-object of the Batak tradition, animated by the datu's practice; element Earth because the carrier is worked material and mass, which is the smallest honest family for a walking construct. | |
| 13 | Construct Guard | 2 | physical | the pangulubalang's mass, interposed | it steps between you and him without being told | weak_point | -- | -- | PHYSICAL once it is moving -- it is a heavy object and it has seams. |
| 14 | Construct Overhead | 2 | physical | the construct's full weight, brought down | it raises its whole upper mass and pauses | dodge_only | -- | -- | |
| 15 | The Datu's Riposte | 2 | physical | his blade, into the opening the construct made | he attacks on the construct's beat rather than his own | parry_only | -- | -- | PATTERN COUNTER: the read is that his timing has stopped being his. |
| 16 | Household Rally | 2 | physical | every remaining retainer at once | they stop rotating and all commit | cover | -- | -- | |
| 17 | The Hold Costs Him | 2 | non-ordinary | the datu, paying for what he is commanding | his own guard drops between commands and he does not notice | weak_point | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0005 win_condition = EXPOSE;PACIFY;REDUCE, has_nonkill_path = TRUE. MECHANISM: commanding two things at once is a cost, and the cost is the opening -- which is how the fight can be won without killing him. Element none. | character_engagement_node = phase=P2;verb=spare-or-kill;integrity_routed=true. |
| 18 | The Compound Falls Silent | 2 | physical | his own household, when the evidence lands | the retainers stop moving before he does | any | -- | -- | PHYSICAL, and the pacify route's actual moment. awareness_category = FAMILY_BRIEFED -- he knows what he was told and the household did not. |
ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 5 of the 18 moves
above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its
mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather
than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in
which everything glows.
| part | moveset subtraction on break | legibility gain | material the economy wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| the household horn | Horn Interrupt (8) leaves the moveset and Guard Change (7) loses its cue | the retainers rotate late and visibly | nothing harvested -- it is a household object |
| the pangulubalang's seam | Construct Guard (13), Construct Overhead (14) and The Datu's Riposte (15) all lose their carrier | the construct stops bearing weight, which is the same signal in reverse as ability 12 | worked stone -- and taking it is a choice with a Thread cost, because it was made by somebody |
| the decoded ledger (the paper part) | The Bought Testimony (3) and The Standing Claim (1) stop working, and the pacify route opens -- the row states this bypasses phase 2 entirely if brought early | the compound's own people react before he does | the institutional-destruction evidence, which the chapter's main line wants |

|---|---|
| posture | he stops standing like a host and starts standing like a swordsman, and the household notices before the player does |
| breath | his speech stops between exchanges -- a man who has been talking the whole fight goes quiet |
| vocal | the horn stops being sounded FOR him and starts being sounded BY him |
| opener | The Standing Claim is retired; Piso Halasan Draw-Cut becomes the opener |
HE ENTERS at his own threshold, on his own ground, having already closed the gate. HE RELOCATES by flagstone -- he knows the court's footing and the player does not. HE LEAVES by being pacified, exposed, or put down. WHAT HE DOES TO THE ARENA: he shuts it. The compound gets smaller through phase 2 and the two things he keeps take up the rest.
care_tier = standard, target_type = corrupted_authority, has_nonkill_path = TRUE. THE BEGU GANJANG IS THE TRADITION'S OWN CONDEMNED THING and it is rendered as the tradition condemns it -- a killing-spirit that is KEPT AND COMMANDED, so the crime is the keeping and the criminal is the datu. THE HONORED DEAD ARE HELD ENTIRELY APART: the row's own counter requires perceiving the begu ganjang's tell AGAINST the honored sombaon/sumangot dead, and this kit never blurs them. The pangulubalang is a made war-object, not a person. Healer Boru Simanjuntak is an ALLY holding a ward, never conflated with the datu's practice. The story antagonist is the sale of the strait and the institution that bought it, routed per CVD 17.1; Datu Siahaan is one man who took the money, and the pacify route exists because of it.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
