CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):

READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. You never see it. You see what a caldera does when something under it moves.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE FIRST TREMOR -- the ground moves once, gently, and settles. Free. It teaches scale in one beat: nothing here is going to attack you, and that is not the same as safe.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the strain | the convulsion builds. Reading the strata and holding your own footing; there is no target and no damage to deal. |
| 2 | the surge | BE_0005_S3's evolve-not-swap clause: it INTENSIFIES THE SAME SEISMIC PRESSURE. Nothing new arrives. The same ground, harder. |
| # | ability | phase | kind | body origin | tell shape | counter | element | lore ground + mechanism | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The First Tremor | 1 | non-ordinary | the caldera floor | the ground moves once and settles | any | Earth | LORE GROUND: BE_0005_S3 defender_element = Earth, target_type naming the Batak tradition's own cosmic binding. MECHANISM: the being is UNDER the world and what reaches the player is the world's response; Earth is the row's own cell and the only carrier there is. | The opener, and the only free beat in the encounter. |
| 2 | Fetter Strain | 1 | non-ordinary | the iron fetters of the tradition's own binding | a low metallic note under the ground that arrives before the shake | neutralize | Metal | LORE GROUND: BE_0005_S3 -- 'the serpent strains the IRON FETTERS', the Batak account's own binding. MECHANISM: the fetters are the tradition's, they are iron, and they sing before they slip. Element Metal because the carrier is literally the iron -- the grid family that the row's own noun names. | The row's counter -- 'read the strata and the fetter's stress-line to find where to hold'. |
| 3 | Ground Fissure | 1 | physical | the caldera floor opening along a line | dust falls INTO the floor rather than off it | dodge_only | -- | -- | |
| 4 | Falling Rim | 1 | physical | tephra and block from the caldera wall | the wall's edge above you loses its outline | cover | -- | -- | |
| 5 | The Pressure | 1 | non-ordinary | the whole basin, pressing on the protagonist's own vril | your own reserve reads unstable while you are standing still | neutralize | Earth | LORE GROUND: BE_0005_S3's counter -- 'steady the protagonist's own vril against the scale'. MECHANISM: the being is large enough that proximity is a condition; the answer is a held state, not an action. Element Earth. | composure_nodes = vril_management=vril_steady_hold. This is that node. |
| 6 | Slope Slide | 1 | physical | the tephra stratum losing cohesion under your feet | the footing you are standing on starts travelling | trigger_interrupt | -- | -- | |
| 7 | The Stress-Line | 1 | non-ordinary | the strata, showing where the load is | one band of the caldera wall is lighter than the rest | weak_point | Earth | LORE GROUND: BE_0005_S3's own counter, verbatim -- 'read the strata and the fetter's stress-line to find WHERE TO HOLD'. MECHANISM: the binding has a bearing point and the rock records it. Element Earth. | The named weak point of a fight with no body: it is a place, and holding it is the win. |
| 8 | Steam Vent | 1 | physical | the caldera's own geothermal system, disturbed | the lake's surface breaks in a line | cover | -- | -- | |
| 9 | The Intensified Pressure | 2 | non-ordinary | the same basin, harder | your reserve reads unstable while you are holding it correctly | neutralize | Earth | LORE GROUND: BE_0005_S3's evolve-not-swap clause -- 'intensifies the same seismic pressure'. MECHANISM: the answer does not change; the margin does. Element Earth. | |
| 10 | Sustained Convulsion | 2 | physical | the whole floor, continuously | the shaking does not stop between beats | any | -- | -- | |
| 11 | The Fetter Slips | 2 | non-ordinary | one binding point, giving | the metallic note goes up a tone and stays there | trigger_interrupt | Metal | LORE GROUND: BE_0005_S3's phase_breakdown_object -- the surge and the re-seating. MECHANISM: the binding is not the player's to make; it is the tradition's, and it can be helped to hold rather than replaced. The interrupt is the hold at the stress-line. Element Metal. | The bind secondary verb, and it does not mean the player binds anything new. |
| 12 | The Binding Re-Seats | 2 | non-ordinary | the fetters taking the load again | the note drops back and the ground goes still | any | Metal | LORE GROUND: BE_0005_S3 win_condition = PURGE, has_nonkill_path = TRUE, and the row's target_type -- a NON-KILL cosmic subdual that is the Batak tradition's OWN binding. MECHANISM: the win is the world's existing arrangement holding. Element Metal. | Nothing is defeated. The tradition's binding is helped to keep doing what it already does. |
ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 7 of the 12 moves
above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its
mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather
than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in
which everything glows.
| part | moveset subtraction on break | legibility gain | material the economy wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| the stress-line bearing point | The Stress-Line (7) converts from a read into a held position, which removes Ground Fissure (3) and Slope Slide (6) from the volume the player is standing in | the ground under one band of the caldera stops moving, and the contrast with the rest is the fight's clearest readout | nothing harvested -- there is nothing to take from a fault |
| the slipping fetter | The Fetter Slips (11) resolves and does not recur once the bearing is held through a full surge | the metallic note stops rising | nothing extracted. See the care read: the fetters are the tradition's and are never taken, broken or replaced |

Falling Rim (4) is this row, and the strata that ability 7 reads are its face.EG_0041 Caldera Lake Shallows and Lakeshore Strand -- CARE-BOUND, GEOMETRY ONLY: hard_blocked, HL_0001, enemy_usable = FALSE, attack_verbs = none. The lake is a protected water and it bounds the encounter; it is never entered as a weapon and never disturbed on purpose.| channel | what the player sees or hears |
|---|---|
| posture | there is no body and the kit refuses to invent one. The channel is the LAKE: its surface stops answering the tremors and goes flat, which means the pressure has changed direction |
| breath | the caldera's venting -- the steam that has been intermittent becomes continuous |
| vocal | the iron note under the ground, which is the only voice this encounter has |
| opener | The First Tremor is retired; Sustained Convulsion becomes the standing state |
IT NEVER ENTERS AND NEVER LEAVES. It is under everything and the encounter is its surface. WHAT IT DOES TO THE ARENA: it is the arena, which is why every ability above is an environment row and why the player never swings at anything.
THE ROW'S OWN target_type IS THE RULING AND IT IS LONG BECAUSE IT HAD TO BE: a mythological world-bearer, COSMIC SUBDUAL, NON-KILL, THE BATAK TRADITION'S OWN BINDING, with the earlier J10 handling superseded by the honored-cosmic call. So: Naga Padoha is never killed, never wounded, never even directly touched. The player does not bind it -- the tradition's fetters do, and the player helps them hold. win_condition = PURGE resolves as the world's existing arrangement re-seating. This is the rated-M content bar working correctly in the other direction: a myth's own chaos-serpent is a real encounter, and this particular one is a WORLD-BEARER, which is a different category from a monster, and the tradition itself says what happens to it.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
