CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (structural — the registries this kit's canon rows live in, plus its chapter's spine node):

READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
PROPOSAL-TIER. This kit serves canon and never outranks it. It writes no registry row.
The law it obeys: docs/proposals/combat/KIT_SCALING_TABLE.md. The intelligence scale:
docs/proposals/combat/INTELLIGENCE_TIERS.md. The body it fights with is the bestiary
lane's: docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md and its sheets. This file
describes the FIGHT; it never restates the BODY. Authors no magnitude -- no damage, no
health, no timing, no coefficient. Those are Phase-5M's behind the tuning firewall.

Silhouette read. Your own silat, thrown back at you by something with no body behind the screen.
Opener (MHM-G10, the cheap lesson first). THE MIRROR STEP -- a shadow on the screen takes one step, and it is a step the player took thirty seconds ago. Nothing attacks. It is free and it names the whole fight: this thing does not invent, it COPIES, and everything it can do is something you did.
| phase | name | what it PUSHES (nothing pops) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | the shadow-duel | one construct, running silat forms taken off the player's own record. Legible, slow, and beatable on rhythm alone. |
| 2 | the constructs multiply toward the source | the row's evolve-not-swap clause: it MULTIPLIES AND SPEEDS THE SAME SHADOW-CONSTRUCTS. No new form is introduced in the whole encounter -- there are simply more of them, and everything phase 1 taught stays exactly true. |
| 3 | the reveal | the certification apparatus exposed and shown to the Dalang. The constructs persist; what is pushed is the paperwork -- the laundered lakon, the forged lineage, and the man who has to be shown what was done in his name. |
| # | ability | phase | kind | body origin | tell shape | counter | element | lore ground + mechanism | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Mirror Step | 1 | physical | the construct's whole body, on the screen | it repeats a step the player took | any | -- | -- | |
| 2 | Silat Entry | 1 | physical | hip and lead hand, a low committed line | the lead hand turns palm-up before the weight moves | parry_only | -- | -- | |
| 3 | Sweep Low | 1 | physical | the trailing leg, cutting at ankle height | the shadow's height on the screen drops by a third | dodge_only | -- | -- | The screen is the tell surface. Reading the SHADOW rather than the body is the fight's central skill and it is taught for free here. |
| 4 | Kris Thrust | 1 | physical | elbow and shoulder, straight, from a closed guard | the shadow narrows to a single line | parry_only | -- | -- | |
| 5 | Rhythm Break | 1 | physical | footwork against the gamelan's beat | it moves off the gong instead of on it | neutralize | -- | -- | The row's own counter -- 'break a shadow-construct's silat rhythm on its tell'. Neutralize is the player taking the beat back. |
| 6 | Lamp Drift | 1 | physical | no strike -- the construct moving the light source | the shadow grows without the body approaching | cover | -- | -- | Scale on the screen is a lie it can tell. The answer is to stop reading the screen and find the body. |
| 7 | The Draining Pass | 1 | non-ordinary | the construct passing through the player's vril rather than around it | the shadow crosses your own outline on the screen | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0004's own counters cell -- 'hold vril-budget through a draining pass'. MECHANISM: the certification apparatus runs on extracted authorisation, and the construct extracts the same way; element none because what is taken is budget, not an element. Neutralize is the budget hold itself. | composure_nodes names vril_management=vril_budget_hold. This is that node. |
| 8 | The Second Shadow | 2 | physical | a construct with no matching body on either side of the screen | two shadows move and one lamp is lit | cover | -- | -- | |
| 9 | Converging Forms | 2 | physical | three constructs closing on separate lines | the shadows stop overlapping | cover | -- | -- | PATTERN COUNTER: no single tell answers this. The read is that they have stopped sharing a silhouette, which only exists across several beats. |
| 10 | Sped Entry | 2 | physical | the same silat entry at a tempo the form cannot actually hold | the lead hand turns palm-up and the weight is ALREADY moving | dodge_only | -- | -- | MHM-G10's variant law: ability 2's root with the brakes off, and the parry timing the player learned is now a dodge. |
| 11 | Screen Break | 2 | physical | a construct coming THROUGH the shadow-screen | the cloth moves before the shadow does | parry_only | -- | -- | |
| 12 | The Laundered Form | 2 | non-ordinary | a silat form the player has never performed | the shadow runs a sequence with no record behind it | weak_point | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0004's counter -- 'read the performed lakon against the true lontar to catch the laundered edit'. MECHANISM: the apparatus manufactures provenance, so it can manufacture a form -- and a manufactured form has no lineage, which is exactly the weak point the lontar comparison exposes. Element none; forgery is not elemental. | The fight's thesis in one ability. |
| 13 | Encirclement | 2 | physical | four constructs, evenly spaced, none advancing | they stop and hold a ring | any | -- | -- | |
| 14 | The Feint Chorus | 2 | physical | every construct beginning the same entry at once | all the shadows start the same move and one of them finishes it | dodge_only | -- | -- | PATTERN COUNTER: the answer is which one is a beat ahead, and that is a sequence read. |
| 15 | The Certified Lineage | 3 | non-ordinary | the apparatus, asserting a provenance out loud | a claim of authority arrives with a document behind it | neutralize | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0004 target_type = institutional_proxy and win_condition = PERCEIVE;EXPOSE;FREE. MECHANISM: the apparatus's actual weapon is paperwork with force behind it; the vril substrate carries the assertion as a standing claim that has to be answered with a truer one. Element none. | Phase 3's push, and it is a document rather than an attack. |
| 16 | The Source Behind the Screen | 3 | non-ordinary | the certification-shadow itself, finally located | every construct's shadow converges on one point that is not a lamp | weak_point | none | LORE GROUND: BE_0004's phase_breakdown_object -- 'constructs multiply TOWARD THE SOURCE'. MECHANISM: the constructs are projections and projections have an origin; finding it is the geometry problem the whole encounter has been posing. Element none. | The named weak point of a thing that spent two phases having no body. |
| 17 | The Dalang's Silence | 3 | physical | Pujanegara himself, when he is shown what was signed | the gamelan stops | any | -- | -- | PHYSICAL, and the win. character_engagement_node = phase=P3;verb=weigh;integrity_routed=true. |
| 18 | The Apparatus Withdraws | 3 | physical | the constructs going flat against the screen | the shadows stop having depth | any | -- | -- | has_nonkill_path = TRUE. Nothing is killed here; an institution is exposed and a man is freed from it. |
ELEVATED, AND NOT ELEMENTAL BY DEFAULT (KIT_SCALING_TABLE 3.1b). 4 of the 18 moves
above are non-ordinary and each names its element family, its lore ground and its
mechanism. The rest are a body doing physical things, and they are marked physical rather
than dressed up. An elevated kit is one that CONTAINS the non-ordinary; it is not one in
which everything glows.
| part | moveset subtraction on break | legibility gain | material the economy wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| the lamp | Lamp Drift (6), The Second Shadow (8) and Screen Break (11) all lose their surface | the constructs have to fight in the round, where their forms are readable as bodies rather than as silhouettes | nothing harvested |
| the laundered lakon (the paper part) | The Laundered Form (12) and The Certified Lineage (15) leave the moveset | the constructs stop being able to do anything the player has not seen | the true lontar reading -- the chapter's evidence item |
| the shadow-screen itself | every screen-keyed tell in phases 1-2 is gone, which cuts the construct set's legibility for BOTH sides | the fight becomes ordinary and much harder to read, which is a real cost to the player and therefore a real choice | nothing harvested -- and see the care read |
EG_0031 Wayang Shadow-Screen and Lamp Stage -- CARE-BOUND: hard_blocked, HL_0001;HL_0005;HL_0007, enemy_usable = TRUE for its CONCEALMENT affordance and attack_verbs = none. The stage shapes this entire fight -- it is the tell surface, the geometry and the thesis -- and it is never destroyed, never burned, never armed. Ability 6 and 8 CONSUME its concealment; nothing damages it. The part-break above is authored as the screen going dark, not as the screen being cut.EG_0022 Walled Temple Court Enclosure -- CARE-BOUND, GEOMETRY ONLY: hard_blocked, CONSTRICTION, enemy_usable = TRUE, attack_verbs = none. The court's walls are what Encirclement (13) uses; they are never a weapon.EG_0032 Bamboo-and-Net Blood-Site Ward -- BOTH: enemy_usable = TRUE, CONCEALMENT, transient_combat. The one arena object in the fight that either side may actually spend.EG_0024 Aling-Aling Screen Wall -- PLAYER: COVER, and its own function -- a wall that straight-moving things cannot pass -- is a real answer to Sped Entry (10).| channel | what the player sees or hears |
|---|---|
| posture | the constructs stop mirroring the player's stance and settle into one that is nobody's |
| breath | none -- a shadow does not breathe, and the kit refuses to invent one. The channel is carried by the LAMP instead: its flame steadies unnaturally at each transition |
| vocal | the gamelan's tempo rises without the players changing what they are doing |
| opener | The Mirror Step is retired; Silat Entry becomes the opener and the chorus is live |
IT ENTERS on the screen, which means it is present before it is locatable. IT RELOCATES by moving light rather than by moving. IT LEAVES by going flat. WHAT IT DOES TO THE ARENA: it turns a performance space into a fight without touching a single object in it, which is both the design constraint and the point.
care_tier = standard, target_type = institutional_proxy, has_nonkill_path = TRUE. THE ANTAGONIST IS THE CERTIFICATION APPARATUS, never wayang and never the Dalang -- CVD 17.1's route-the-antagonist-through-the-institution rule, exactly. Wayang kulit and pencak silat are depicted as the living, certified, sophisticated arts they are; the encounter's whole grievance is that an apparatus laundered a lineage in their name. Pujanegara is a victim of the forgery and the win is showing him. HL_0001, HL_0005 and HL_0007 bind through EG_0031, and nothing in this fight damages a stage, a puppet, a manuscript or a shrine.
This kit is authored ONCE, at Fading. The five modulators of KIT_SCALING_TABLE section 4
express it across the ladder: active_ability_set grows upward through reserved follow-ups
on roots the player already learned, window_class tightens, answer_tree_depth prunes
toward the single true answer, hazard_concurrency rises with the arena rows above, and
phase_overlap interleaves the phase cycles. No second kit exists and no number here changes
with the tier.
