Read-only design analysis, 2026-07-27, fourth sitting. Axis: the three sub-forks' full option sets
(ADMISSION · NAME · REVEAL WINDOW), each with the lens-grounded reasoning and a recommendation.
Proposal-tier throughout. This brief authors no canon and ratifies nothing; it is the substrate for
Josh's ruling and for the fresh-context critic that would gate any apply.
Binding lenses carried: the vril-altered-physics doctrine; the locked numerical canon (33 legendary
species HL_0057, 22 familiar slots HL_0058); reveal discipline (HL_0043/0044/0045/0046/0115, CVD
§17.9); the naming method (deep-dive-canon → adversarial-filter → player-vibe-test) plus the
natural-voice doctrine; the no-mode-taxonomy rule; the care doctrine at bolder calibration and the
§17.1 / HL_0109 / HL_0114 guardrail at its Ch-76 sharpness.
KEY CORRECTION (2026-07-27 — integration record X-3). This brief was written citing the containment
fork as WS_029. The live key is WS_039 hollow_containment_fork_last, in
registries/T0_Worldstate_Variables [ACTIVE v0.1]/Sheet1.csv at row 40. WS_029 is
trade_sovereignty_valence, an unrelated base-building row. Corrected in place at sections 1.1, 2.3
and 2.4; no argument in this brief turns on the key.

ratified. The improvement: give the LOCUS its own negative-space row on the realm axis as well.
The realm program's own words are that the Hollow is "the negative-space counterpart to the
realms." A counterpart to a realm is a place plus an inhabitant, not an inhabitant alone. Two
rows, two tables, one class. Section 2.
what negative vril does to a PERSON — HL_0014 ("Evil-path protagonist is hollowed not
cartoonish", universal scope, player-facing pipelines), CH_76's own framing of Cassius as "a
hollow vessel the condition found and fit", and CHAR_0008 Rangku Wera "hollowed by the polo's
bargain". Making it also the player-facing proper noun for a MONSTER quietly teaches that
negative vril is a kind of being rather than a condition a person falls into, which is exactly
what HL_0114 forbids and the shape the Ch-76 antisemitism guardrail exists to prevent. The remedy
is not removal — it is which SURFACE carries the word. Section 3.
opening recommendation. That is the pre-refinement FORK-3 wording. Josh's own 2026-07-13 steer
(creature-system.md FU.1) already superseded it to a TWO-TIER window — surface legible from first
appearance, depth held — and the WS7 registry const encodes the two-tier version. Presenting the
charter line to Josh as "carry the existing recommendation forward" would quietly un-do his own
steer. Section 4.
resolves into the protagonist's own face. The Hollow is a shape wearing a face that is not its
own. The Hollow is the exact structural negative of the waterfall — the design's single greatest
asset and its sharpest leak vector, and neither the creature-system doc nor the charter names it.
HL_0044 explicitly names "environmental storytelling, art direction, music" as forbidden
foreshadow channels; check_reveal_discipline.py scans prose and check_grand_sage_silence.py scans
voice and scene bindings, so the visual grammar is unwatched. Six art-layer firewall rules are
proposed at §4.5. Section 4.
Plus three live-tree defects found while grounding, at §6.

reveal window (FORK 3). Chapter assignment is declared deliberately unset. Josh's fourth-sitting
order routes all three into this deep dive.
Negative vril congealed into flesh. Where negative vril has pooled and hardened — in a vril-null
deadzone, at a Velheim extraction scar, along a corruption seam — it occupies a vacated
substrate-gap and takes a half-formed body. It wears the eroded shape of something the depletion
took, while what animates that shape is negative vril, not life. R-rated body horror: unrendered
flickering flesh, wrong anatomy, silence, vril-static, and a light hardening-pull on approach that
leans on the player's signature for the duration and is never a debuff you cannot leave.
It is canon-native rather than novel: it is the wild, ambient cousin of the Ch-6 False Naga — the
same mechanic (negative consciousness occupying a being's vacated space and rising as a false
substitute that must be identified) but spontaneous and environmental rather than a targeted vessel
substitution. Anchoring to an existing chapter boss removes the last "is this a rendering bug" risk.

identity hints are forbidden across dialogue, journal, inscription, NPC exposition, environmental
storytelling, art direction and music; the reveal is released exactly once, carried by the image;
the Grand Sage never speaks; the morph is the protagonist's own gender presentation.

The fork reads as one question but is three: does the phenomenon enter canon at all; if it does,
what ontological KIND is it (a being, a place, or both); and which tables carry rows. Answering
them separately is what makes the recommendation checkable rather than a vibe.
the pattern's only expression. Pro: zero firewall surface, zero reveal surface, zero new care
obligation, one fewer unratified class in a corpus that already has many. Con: it discards the
creature layer's declared signature hook and the single most direct visual expression of the
vril-altered-physics doctrine available outside the realms; it also leaves the arc with a
depletion the player is told about and never MEETS, which is the show-don't-tell pillar failing
in the one place it is easiest to satisfy. The realm program's negative-space argument has no
answer under this option.
T0_Environment_Grammar row, ambient VFX and SFX in drained places, no codex row, no collect verb,
no dex, no record. It is weather, not a being. Pro: the cheapest admission; unimpeachable against
the 33/22 firewall because there is nothing to firewall; no naming fork survives (weather needs
no proper noun). Con: it deletes the loop. There is no encounter, no procedure, no conscience
fork, no completionist tributary, no folklore-generation. The R-rated horror beat becomes a
particle effect. It also fails the layer model: an ambient effect cannot carry an L3 meaning
because there is nothing for the player to have DONE with it in retrospect.
registry, its own verb, a sealed sub-codex record, no CR_ id, never TAME, never a slot, never
legendary, never bred. Pro: keeps the entire loop; the firewall holds by CONSTRUCTION rather than
by discipline (the class is defined by what it can never be); the ontology map at FU.3 already
routes every supernatural being in the game to exactly one lane and lane E is this one, so
refusing it leaves a hole in a ratified-candidate sort. Con: it is a genuinely new phenomenon
class in a corpus whose cardinal rule is do-not-invent, and every new class is a new surface for
drift and a new care obligation.
anti-realm — with a T0_Realm_Ruleset_Registry row, and the creature is that place's sole
inhabitant. Pro: it is the literal reading of the program's own "negative-space counterpart to
the realms" claim, and it gives the harmony doctrine its NEGATIVE CONTROL: a place whose ruleset
row is all "holds, and less" is the strongest available test of the doctrine's claim that the
realms are one physics at different densities. Con: alone, it has no creature, so the horror and
the loop still have no home; and a "realm" that is an Earth deadzone strains the roster's meaning
(the nine road realms are mythological otherworlds, not terrestrial hazards).
extension columns carry it. Pro: one fewer table; the sort lives where the sort lives. Con: it
puts the Hollow in the table whose whole purpose is the living bestiary, one column away from
familiar_slot_eligible and father_pre_rift_individual_marker. The firewall stops being structural
and becomes a field value that one careless populate can flip. This is the option that most
endangers HL_0057/0058, and it should be rejected for exactly that reason.
Rather than a label, the class is the conjunction of six negatives and four positives.
The six negatives, each of which is a gate assertion rather than a note:
HP bar, no win/lose axis, no defeat state, no kill reward, no corpse. This is the load-bearing
one: a Hollow that gets a BE_ row has silently become a monster, and every care problem in this
brief follows from that.
docs/spine/DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH.md; integration record
docs/pipeline_review/HOLLOW_EXPANSION_INTEGRATION_2026-07-27.md §3 and §4.4). The never-fought
negative is superseded in full. Josh removed the Hollow class from HL_0080's non-damage protocol and
ruled that the player defeats the Hollow, so BE_ rows are now the authored-encounter home. What
replaces this bullet is the four-phase grammar — perceive, pressure, break, resolve — and the four
anti-kill-loot teeth: no drop from the being, since there is no corpse and the row may carry no drop
anchor or loot table; rewards attach to the container and never to the entity; no kill credit, so a
"Hollows defeated" statistic is a banned surface; and the fork is unskippable. The no-kill-reward
and no-corpse clauses survive inside those teeth.
slot. No CR_ id, never TAME-status, therefore outside the binding-stone pool by construction, so
it can never be elevated to legendary at the L2/L4/L5 finale.
on its containment. This is what protects HL_0020: the arc's single canonical negative-vril purge
is a purge "on a single individual", and a Hollow is definitionally not an individual. The class
definition is what keeps the Ch-76 Phase 3 purge singular. Weaken the definition and the hard
line quietly breaks.
and the natural-voice doctrine's difficulty routing. No progression path requires containing one.
integration record §1.7 and §4.4). Never-gates holds for the WHISPER tier, whose records may never
appear in any gate reference, unlock condition, or completion denominator. On the CONTENT tier the
world's cleansing meter lawfully gates some ability, mastery, prestige, cosmetic, optional-region
and easter-egg unlocks, and may never gate the main story path, any chapter progression, or any node
the multi-path and no-dead-end law protects. The meter counts authored non-event non-random rifts,
plus easter-egg and hard-to-find rifts which are counted and never progression-gating, plus
affliction cleansing. The no-lockout law binds: neither progression nor the completionist 100 percent
may be gated by an integrity path or an absorb choice.
The four positives:
once the bestiary is deep enough for the player's Vril Sight to read the gaps — makes the class a
reward for the completionist rather than a random ambush, and composes with the standing
early-chapter-perception rule (early chapters perceive via inscription, reverence and lore, not
tier-6 Vril Sight), which naturally floors first contact well past the opening arc.
the record. That is a puzzle-routed or vril-management encounter in the existing internal mode
vocabulary and never a direct one — and it inherits the Ch-6 PERCEIVE-verb precedent, where the
challenge is discernment and a wrong read is a reset with the tell now marked, never a fail wall.
substrate returned to the land) versus harvest (the negative charge drained into the player's own
signature, a hardening act with an integrity cost). Both log the same record. Never a power gate,
never a dead end. WS_039 already holds the state.
Forgotten One prestige content. No combat power, ever.
"No combat power, ever" is superseded on the ABSORB branch: toward endgame that path grants
hollow-type abilities as the protagonist turns less elf and less herself, priced in integrity, in
substrate and in the community mark. The documentation payout above holds for the whisper tier and
for the cleanse branch. Read the conscience fork's purify and harvest as the retired synonyms of
CLEANSE and ABSORB, and read the contained-not-killed bullet as CONTAIN relocated to phase four of a
four-phase fought encounter rather than as the whole procedure.
Rows it TAKES:

anchor for Hollow loci; the codex rows reference drain sites rather than inventing a parallel

deadzone as an anti-realm, per the recommendation below.
Rows it DOES NOT TAKE, and the refusal is the firewall:
row, and that absence is the class definition made structural.
with the never-fought negative it rested on: T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry BE_ rows are now the
authored-encounter home, and the live 45-column schema already carries every field a Hollow
encounter needs, with BE_PROLOGUE, BE_0029 and BE_0002 as the precedents for an encounter that is
neither a person nor malice. Every other refusal in this list SURVIVES, and the T0_Creature_Roster
refusal in particular remains the firewall made structural.
ADMIT as the OBSERVE/CONTAIN entity class (option C), and additionally give the LOCUS a single
negative-space row on the realm axis (the useful half of option D). Call it the two-row shape: the
class row says what stands up, the ruleset row says what the place has stopped doing. Reject option
E outright, on the grounds that folding the class into the living bestiary converts a structural
firewall into a field value.
The reasoning, by lens:
and that realms are one physics at different densities. Every realm on the road is that claim in
the POSITIVE direction — more density, more refraction, more law. The deadzone is the only place
the doctrine can be shown in the negative, and a ruleset row that reads "holds, and less" is the
doctrine's only falsifiable case. Admitting the locus is therefore not decoration; it is the
harmony doctrine's negative control.
because the class is never TAME and therefore never in the binding-stone pool. The admission is
provably silent on both counts, and §5.2 proposes the gate that keeps it silent.
the region's own record of what it lost, in its own voice (L2). Meaning: what the shape was, and
what that says about the world (L3, held). The class populates all three lanes without a single
line of exposition, which is the show-don't-tell pillar working as designed.
option. A silent, wrong-anatomied thing wearing the shape of something a place lost, that you
seal rather than kill, and that costs you something to harvest, is the mature register the bar
asks for. The care obligations it creates are real and are handled at §5, not by omission.
The corpus's cardinal rule is do-not-invent, and this is a new phenomenon class — a new ontological
kind of thing in the world, not a fill-in of locked structure. Every argument above is an argument
that it FITS, and fitting is not the same as being necessary. The corpus already has the False Naga
carrying this exact pattern as authored chapter content, at a care register that has been reviewed;
generalizing it to an ambient, repeatable, collectible class multiplies the surface where the
pattern can go wrong by however many loci exist, and it does so for a hook whose stated value is
partly that streamers will clip it. A reasonable ruling is that the pattern is already expressed,
once, well, and that the arc does not need a systemic version of it.
The honest answer to that objection: it is strong on scope and weak on kind. The class multiplies
INSTANCES, not metaphysics — every instance is the same mechanic the Ch-6 boss already ratified —
and the multiplication is bounded by the sigma discipline and the perception gate, both of which
are already specified. If Josh rules against admission, option B (locus grammar only, no creature)
is the correct fallback rather than option A, because the drained places should still LOOK drained.

The naming method is deep-dive-canon (quote the axis), generate widely on DISTINCT axes,

property the Ch-77 reveal is built on (a shape and whose face it wears). A player-facing common

"Hollow" is already the corpus's load-bearing word for what negative vril does to a PERSON:
hollowed not cartoonish."
the condition found and fit, the consciousness upstream and the apparatus downstream)".
BOSS_PERSONAS reads him as "a hollow hunter... driven by an emptiness he cannot name".
So the corpus already uses hollow to mean a person emptied by a condition. If the same word becomes
the player-facing proper noun for a monster you seal and file, the game has taught, in its own
vocabulary and without ever saying it, that negative vril produces a KIND OF BEING. That is
precisely what HL_0114 forbids ("negative vril is not personified evil... a vibrational state"), and
it is the failure mode the Ch-76 guardrail is sharpest about: an evil that is separable from the man
at Phase 3 because it is not who he was born as. If the player has spent forty chapters containing
Hollows, and Cassius is a hollow vessel, the Truly-Good purge reads as exterminating the last one.
Stated that baldly it is a vermin metaphor attached to a dynasty, which is the antisemitism
guardrail's master failure wearing a bestiary costume.
The devil's-advocate pass, calibrated against over-conservatism, because the care doctrine requires
it: the resonance is DELIBERATE and it is superb. Cassius means hollow; the blight his substrate
throws off being called the Hollow is the kind of five-thousand-year rhyme the corpus is built to
reward. The care doctrine says the tool is rename or reframe, never removal, and that care-tier
inflation is itself a defect. So the answer is emphatically not "drop the Hollow". The answer is
that the resonance belongs to the AUTHOR and the reader of the design, not to the player's mouth —
exactly as the anti-fringe corrective is authorial-only, and exactly as the Vril-Society lineage is
held as an excluded association that is never surfaced and never debunked in-game.
"substrate-echo" as the internal class term. Pro: one memorable franchise noun; streamable; the
cassus loop is legible to any player who later learns Cassius's etymology. Con: the §3.5
collision, unmitigated. Also flattens seventy-six regions and five thousand years into one folk
word, which the natural-voice doctrine forbids in as many words.
the player-facing layer is per-culture folk names only. Pro: solves the collision by construction
(no player surface ever says "a Hollow", so "hollowed" stays a description of what happened to a
person and never becomes a species); it is what the natural-voice doctrine and the
golden-standard enrichment mandate actually ask for; it is how real folklore behaves (a revenant
is a strigoi in Wallachia, a draugr in Iceland, a vetala in India); and the codex can display the
LOCAL name the player first learned it by, so a player's own bestiary says what their world
called it. Con: no franchise noun. MissingNo is famous partly because it has a name.
Shape, the Standing Dead). Pro: keeps a single shared word without the person-condition clash.
Con: still flattens the per-culture layer; and every candidate that is vivid enough to be a
franchise noun tends to name the face-wearing property, which §3.4 killed for reveal reasons.
name. Pro: maximal eerie; maximal community coinage. Con: a phenomenon nobody in-world has a word
for is not folklore, and the design's whole claim is that NPCs whisper about them. Villages name
what frightens them; a nameless thing reads as unfinished rather than as mysterious.
N-B, with two designed additions.
RETIRED with a supersession note. The retirement is not a taste call: substrate-echo names the
superseded §2.7 metaphysics (an echo of a lost creature) that FU.1 replaced (negative vril
congealed into flesh wearing an eroded shape). Keeping it would leave a stale term describing a
retired ontology sitting in the schema, which is precisely the stale-reference class that makes
later agents hallucinate. The registry name T0_Hollow_Codex is already correct and needs no
rename.
clusters, not seventy-six, authored inside the natural-voice pass with the two critic lenses
("does a person say this?" and "does this carry the culture?"), meaning-carrying rather than
literal, and never machine-derived. The set is not enumerated here: naming a Manggarai or Sámi or
Congolese folk-word is culture-bearing authorship that belongs in the region-page substrate with
its own care read, not in a systems brief.
key each codex row on spawn-locus type crossed with region cluster, and let
manifestation_designation carry that cluster's own word. That is one schema note, not a
migration.
On the lost franchise noun: this is the objection to take seriously, and the answer is that the
community coins one. A phenomenon with a dozen local names and no official word is the strongest
folklore generator available, because the shared word becomes the players' own rather than the
marketing department's — which is how every real cryptid name in the corpus's own source material
happened. The design brief's stated goal was community-folklore-generating; N-B is the option that
maximizes it rather than the one that sacrifices it.
A game needs a word for the thing it wants people to talk about, and "the Hollow" is a genuinely
excellent one — evocative, short, canon-rooted, and already written into a registry, a design doc,
a charter and a wiring plan. The collision at §3.5 is real but it is a CRAFT problem, and craft
problems are normally solved by craft rather than by withdrawing a word: hold the line that no
narration ever calls a person a Hollow, keep the purge language separative ("the condition, not the
man"), and the collision never fires. Under that reading N-B pays a permanent cost in shared
vocabulary to insure against a risk that a style rule already covers.
The counter, offered fairly: style rules degrade across a thirty-million-word corpus and dozens of
authoring passes, whereas a word that is never on a player surface cannot leak. And N-B loses less
than it appears to, because it keeps the word everywhere it actually earns its resonance — in the
design, where the reader who notices cassus is the one who was going to notice anyway.
---
and the five-thousand-year pattern surface player-facing at their patriarch. The thesis and the
Grand Sage stay HELD — no hint reaches even Cassius's mouth or the father's (HL_0043/0046). The
father-silence bookend begins (HL_0116): the King has consulted a wordless presence for ten
thousand years and knows its nature, and says nothing; the weight is felt as displacement, never
as content.
SEPARATION of the condition from the man — an ending, not a redemption, aimed at the negative
vril and never at the family as a group.
water gives back, in the place where its face should be, HERS; the shape standing where the
presence stood resolves into her own form; the recognition assembles wordlessly. HL_0044 states
the fact plainly: the Grand Sage is the protagonist's own collective consciousness reflected
back. HL_0045 locks the phrasing as understood and not spoken; HL_0046 says the Grand Sage never
speaks; HL_0115 makes the morph the protagonist's own gender presentation. There is no combat, no
fail state, and the dwell is player-paced.
The Ch-77 reveal is a shape that RESOLVES INTO YOUR OWN FACE.
The Hollow is a shape that WEARS A FACE THAT IS NOT ITS OWN.
The Hollow is the exact structural negative of the waterfall. Every property inverts: the presence
is luminous and silent and already there, and what fills it is you; the Hollow is unrendered and
silent and newly stood up, and what fills it is the wrong substrate. That inversion is
simultaneously the design's greatest asset and its sharpest leak vector, and neither the
creature-system doc nor the realm charter names it.
It is an asset because the CVD's whole reveal architecture is earned pattern recognition — the
reveal "lands differently for the L3-engaged player because they have followed the breadcrumbs to
the conclusion themselves, rather than being told." A phenomenon that trains the player's eye on
"a shape, and what is inside it" is the perfect grammar-teacher for the waterfall, and it teaches
without one word of exposition.
It is a hazard because HL_0044 forbids foreshadowing across "dialogue, journal entries, inscription
content, NPC exposition, environmental storytelling, art direction, music" — and environmental
storytelling and art direction are exactly where a creature's visual grammar lives. The existing
teeth do not reach it: check_reveal_discipline.py scans body prose for name-before-reveal, the Corr
leak, who-frame single-agent forms and thread mislabels; check_grand_sage_silence.py scans voice
rows, scene bindings and the two endgame chapter files. Neither scans a creature concept board, a
material, a silhouette or a staging note. The Hollow is the first content class whose reveal risk
is primarily VISUAL, and it arrives just as the realm program stands up an art-board pipeline.
The charter's §6.2 opening recommendation reads "pure atmosphere pre-Ch-76". That is the
pre-refinement wording of creature-system.md FORK 3 option (a). Josh's own 2026-07-13 steer
superseded it: FU.1 states that because negative-vril corruption is on stage from Ch 6 onward, the
Hollow's SURFACE reading — a negative-vril blight, a corruption organism — is reveal-SAFE and can be
legible from first appearance, and what stays Layer-3 and post-Ch-76 is the DEPTH: that the shape it
wears is what the depletion erased. FU.1 says in terms that this is SAFER than the original framing,
which leaned its whole meaning on the reveal-locked depletion substrate.
The WS7 registry const encodes the refined version (reveal_tier 'SURFACE_blight_legible;
DEPTH_L3_post_Ch76'), while the WS7 FORK-3 recommendation LINE still carries the old wording, and the
charter carried that line forward. So the stale phrasing has now propagated through three documents
while the schema underneath it says the right thing. Presenting "pure atmosphere pre-Ch-76" to Josh
as the standing recommendation would ask him to re-ratify a position his own steer already replaced.
That correction is the most consequential single thing in this section.
eerie presence and all meaning is post-reveal. Pro: maximum reveal safety, no interpretive
surface to police. Con: it is strictly MORE dangerous than R-B, not less, for the reason FU.1
gives — an unexplained wrongness invites the player to explain it, and the only explanation the
world offers is the reveal-locked depletion substrate. Silence does not prevent inference; it
concentrates it. R-A also wastes an already-legible canon fact (negative-vril corruption has been
on stage since Ch 6) and produces the "cryptic or like a computer wrote it" register the
natural-voice doctrine was created to end.
a blight, negative vril has pooled here and stood up; said diegetically, in a person's voice, per
culture. DEPTH held to L3 and post-Ch-76: that the shape it wears is what the depletion took, and
what the depletion points at. Pro: it is the position Josh already steered; it is
reveal-SAFER because the surface answer satisfies the question the encounter raises; it gives the
L2 lane real content (a region's own record of what it lost) without touching the reveal; and it
gives the natural-voice pass something a person can actually say.
the rabbit-hole player, which the layer model wants. Con: the depth IS the depletion substrate,
which is one inferential step from the Grand Sage. HL_0044's scope is total across every channel.
This option asks the reveal ceiling to hold a line that is drawn inside the reveal itself. Reject.
the player has been accumulating recontextualize after Ch 77, and the codex's L3 lane opens. Pro:
it turns a forty-chapter completionist grind into a retrospective payoff, which is exactly how
the octopus, Kasa and Khan foundations are canonically specified to work ("surface only in
retrospect"); it costs the pre-reveal window nothing; and it gives the class a destination.
A reveal window is normally a chapter number. For this class it must also be a set of visual
prohibitions, because the leak vector is the image. Proposed, each phrased so a critic or a board
review can check it:
before Ch 77. HL_0115 makes the morph the reveal's own instrument; a Hollow pre-echoing it is the
single worst leak available anywhere in the corpus.
glass surface or a reflecting water plane. The mirror belongs to the waterfall. A Hollow standing
over its own reflection is an art-direction foreshadow under HL_0044 even if no word is spoken.
nobody present recognizes. Never a named character, never a companion, never a person the player
has met, and never the protagonist. This also keeps the class clear of the persona system and of
the community-ripple canon, both of which attach to people.
half-formed shapes and stops. Resolution — a shape settling into a legible face — is the
waterfall's move and Ch 77's alone. This is the rule that most directly separates the two images.
The presence is luminous, warm, directional and already-there; the Hollow is unrendered, cold,
silent and newly arrived. Nothing in the art bibles may let them rhyme.
signature, and it keeps the class structurally distant from HL_0046.
R-B as the standing window (which is a correction back to Josh's own 2026-07-13 steer, not a new
position), PLUS R-D as the additive post-reveal layer, PLUS the six art-layer rules at §4.5 adopted
as the window's operative content and enrolled in the concept-board review before any Hollow art is
generated.
On the chapter window itself: do NOT hand-set one. Derive it from the perception gate and locus
availability, exactly as WS7 specified, with a floor no earlier than the Vril-Sight tier the gate
requires. Two loci naturally produce two arrival points — deadzone Hollows whenever the perception
gate opens, extraction-scar Hollows once the family's operational footprint is player-facing from
Ch 39 — and that split is reveal-coherent without anyone assigning a chapter. Note at §6 that the
live registry row already carries CH_39-CH_65 and a specific region without authority.
THE LADDER IS NOW FIVE GATES, AND THE PERCEPTION FLOOR IS CORRECTED (integration record §4.4 and §7).
Every three-gate reference in this brief reads as the FIVE-gate ladder: gate 0 surface legible from
first appearance, said diegetically in each region's own register; gate 1 the extraction-scar locus
absent before Ch 39; gate 2 the depth at Ch 76-77; gate 3 the procedural spawn table chapter-scoped by
construction, so a spawner cannot emit VELHEIM_EXTRACTION_SCAR or CORRUPTION_SEAM below Ch 39; gate 4
the substrate read returning ground and never a signature, a hand, a mark, or a negation of one,
before Ch 39; gate 5 the absorb-path power names held descriptive until the Ch 76-77 re-titling, which
arrives as a gated runtime overlay and never as shipped string data. Underneath it runs a THREE-RUNG
perception ladder — rung 1 the Neophyte vril-trace from Ch 2, rung 2 Vril Sight at Tier 2 Zelator from
Ch 15, rung 3 substrate perception at Tier 6 Adeptus Minor — which corrects the derived floor above:
the class does NOT floor at the Vril Sight tier. The whisper tier and the sensing half of the
affliction lane run from Ch 2, and the game already ships a player-facing drained-vril clue there. The
lane windows are per lane rather than per class: whisper from Ch 2, rift dungeons recommended from
Ch 3 inside the vertical slice, affliction from Ch 2 with the first authored quest at Ch 6-8 and the
absorb fork floored at Ch 14, realm traversal in the astral register from Ch 15 and on the
mythological road at Ch 66-74, and events content-scaled rather than story-gated. One placement is
refused outright: no Hollow stands in the Prologue rift, because the mother's death must have no
author.
One further option, surfaced deliberately and NOT recommended for bundling: a post-Ch-77 Hollow
that wears HER face, legal only in the Epilogue or new-game-plus, landing as the reveal's dark twin
— a shape filled with the wrong substrate against a shape that was you all along, with the
Evil-path resonance of HL_0014's "hollowed not cartoonish" behind it. It is the most powerful beat
this class could ever produce and it is also the one most able to re-open a closed reveal and to
re-personify negative vril. It should be routed to its own ruling with its own care read, never
folded into the admission.
R-B asks the game to SAY something about negative vril at every Hollow encounter, forty-odd
chapters before the reveal, in a voice that is per-culture and therefore authored many times by many
passes. Each saying is a chance to say one sentence too much. R-A's silence, whatever its cost in
warmth, has no such surface: nothing said is nothing leaked, and the corpus's own history is that
prose fan-outs introduce reveal leaks that gates cannot catch. A ruling for R-A on pure risk grounds
is defensible.
The counter: the risk R-A avoids is a prose risk, and the risk it creates is an INFERENCE risk,
which is worse because it cannot be reviewed. A player who is told "this is a blight, negative vril
pooled here" stops asking. A player told nothing keeps asking, and the corpus has exactly one
unexplained wordless presence for them to reach toward. The safest window is the one that answers
the small question so the large one is never raised.

Compose the three forks at their charter defaults and read the result aloud: a monster class named
after the antagonist patriarch's own etymology, spawning at that family's industrial sites, which
the player hunts, seals and files, in a game whose Ch-76 §17.1 block calls the antisemitism
guardrail its absolute sharpest because the family's raw premise is a hidden banking dynasty. That
composition is a vermin metaphor attached to a dynasty. No single fork produces it; the three
defaults together do.

historical over-draw. The extraction scar is what EXTRACTION does, not what a bloodline emanates,
and any negative-vril accumulation makes the same scar. A codex whose every row points at the
family has made the family the world's only source of rot, which is both a care failure and, per
CH_76's own framing, a canon error: the reach traces THROUGH Cassius, not FROM him.

Reported because each is a real divergence, not a reading.
registries/T0_Hollow_Codex [DRAFT v0.1]/Sheet1.csv is HW_0001 with region_id=central_africa_congo
and chapter_window=CH_39-CH_65. The WS7 seed spec that landed it (WS7_WIRING_BUILD_PLAN.md line
376) specifies region_id empty and chapter_window='deadzone-availability', and states in terms
that any specific first-discoverability chapter is a chapter-assignment call for Josh. The
2026-07-27 canon inventory's claim that "chapter assignment is deliberately unset" is therefore a
false clean against the live tree. Landed in commit 22dac91 (WS7 Increment A).
spawn_locus_type is 'drain-deadzone' where the spec says VRIL_NULL_DEADZONE; reveal_tier is
'design-layer' where the spec says 'SURFACE_blight_legible; DEPTH_L3_post_Ch76' — so the one field
that encodes the reveal window does not currently encode it; purify_harvest_fork is 'purify|harvest'
where the spec says EITHER; firewall_anchor carries only the Vril-Society firewall and drops the
spec'd HL_0057;HL_0058;outside_33_22;never_TAME;never_slot;no_CR_id chain — the numerical firewall
is absent from the row that most needs it. HW_0002 (the extraction scar) was specified and never
landed, so the canon inventory's "two seed rows" is also inaccurate.
HL_0073 confirms WGM owns a per-zone vril_density enum including null — but
docs/spine/V3_CONVERSION_RUNBOOK.md line 202 rules the spine enum as {baseline, low, moderate,
high, anchor} and "never mid/null", while CH_17 carries vril_density null in a live zone row. The
realm program already flags this reconciliation as scoping work. The Hollow's spawn locus lands
squarely on it, so the class's locus vocabulary should be authored AFTER that reconciliation, not
before. Separately, note that the world-state ATMOSPHERIC band vocabulary (Luminous, Restored,
Neutral, Damaged, Corrupted — T1_Vril §10.6) is a different axis from the per-zone density enum;
conflating them would be an easy and invisible error in any Hollow locus authoring.

"substrate-echo" and "HW_0001" sweeps each returned their known homes; the seed-row divergence was
confirmed field-by-field against the WS7 spec line and the git history of the file rather than
inferred from the design doc.
