HOLLOW EXPANSION INTEGRATION RECORD — 2026-07-27 (eighth sitting)

PROVENANCE

of docs/spine/DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH.md, the HOLLOW ADMISSION BRIEF, and the live tree.

B3 evil path and affliction, B4 reveal, naming and care — then one synthesis pass (this record's

first form), then one fresh-context adversarial critique (verdict GO WITH FIXES, six required

fixes plus one over-escalation and one under-escalation), then this fix-and-land pass.

ESCALATES to a Josh brief and the rift-ontology item DROPS to a director ruling. M-2: the

cleansing meter's scope fork is NAMED and sent to Josh as a small item rather than silently

widened. M-3: the swap-bar arithmetic is corrected — the budget closes on two bars of three.

M-4: the WS_029 sweep is scoped, with its two exclusions named. M-5: the Congo repair is

re-grounded on PROVENANCE and the colonial-posture argument is demoted. M-6: the counts and

anchors are corrected. Plus the three missing class-wide lifetime-cap restatements added to

section 4.2, and the two residual reveal exposures carried as named items.

substrate for the supersession pass, the registry apply, and the ranked worklist at section 11.

docs/DOC_MAP.md in the same commit (anti-orphan rule).

HL_0080 SCOPE brief. The rift-ontology item that held JB-1 in the synthesis form is now D-2, a

DIRECTOR ruling with no blocking flag. The meter-scope item is the new JB-2. The

promote-rift-to-the-marketing-noun item that held JB-2 is now JB-6. JB-3, JB-4 and JB-5 keep

their slots and their content.

Register: CVD §17.14 throughout. Every zero or absence claim carries a positive control (section 12).

Contradictions between the dives and against the live tree are NAMED at section 10, not smoothed.

0. HEADLINE — the seven findings that carry the wave

eighty percent already-ACTIVE canon read at a new scale, twenty percent genuinely new. The spawn

authority (CVD Pillar 1's three declared random systems, one of which IS Rift Instability Zones),

the reward currency (the ratified fifths quantum), the roll constraint (§17.13 sigma), the rarity

ladder (T0_Rarity_Grade), the dungeon licenses (HL_0002, HL_0005, HL_0092), the world-restoration

meter (T1_Tier_C_MMO_Spec §8.4), the ability home (T1_Ability_Tree §14 Layer E with Void Command

as its literal seat), the affliction template (Ch 6 False Naga plus T1_Integrity §8.8) and the

community-outcome key (WS_019) all already exist. Reporting any of them as new is a defect.

encounter is CONTENT-TIER if and only if its resolution writes the world cleansing meter;

otherwise it is WHISPER-TIER. One boolean column, one authorial question, every other tier

property falling out as consequence. Section 2.

four of a four-phase fought encounter — which is exactly where Josh's heal-or-absorb fork lives.

The prior grammar was describing an ENDING, and the ruling added the part where it resists.

the fought content tier must answer to: "Cannot be defeated through damage," and a scope clause

reading "this non-damage protocol governs ONLY the negative-vril / sacred-site atmospheric echo

(the Hollow-adjacent CONTAIN-verb class)." That sentence reads at least as naturally as naming the

governed class BY its adjacency to the Hollow as it does as excluding the Hollow. The fought

content tier gives Hollow encounters a CONTAIN-verb negative-vril manifestation with a phase-2

fight, which on the face of the row is the thing that cannot be defeated through damage. Section

2.6 carries an INTERIM DIRECTOR INTERPRETATION and the ambiguity returns to Josh as JB-1; the

BLIGHT and CONTAIN_BLIGHT mint (X-9) must land after it resolves.

dives. B1 shows the corpus defines a rift as an EVENT (a pressure-threshold crossing), which has

no inside, and that a player who can reliably find and enter rifts deflates the antagonist

family's canonical decades-of-failure rift-research thread and the Ch-58 climax. B4 independently

recommends promoting "rift" to the player-facing door-noun and flooring the first authored rift

dungeon inside the vertical slice at Ch 3. These compose only under B1's membrane-pocket reading.

Section 10, C-1 and C-2. It resolves as DIRECTOR RULING D-2, not a Josh brief: Josh already ruled

the direction in the eighth-sitting verbatim ("those rifts can even be dungeons like the legend of

zelda breath of the wild"), so choosing the reading that honours it is execution under the

locked-versus-execution rule, not a re-opening of a ruled question. The blocking flag is dropped;

escalate only if authoring surfaces a real contradiction.

the whisper tier does NOT floor at Ch 15. Canon already owns a three-rung perception ladder whose

first rung (the Neophyte vril-trace) is live from Ch 2 and already carries a shipped player-facing

drained-vril clue string. Section 7.

via one structural move the admission brief had not made: NAME THE DOOR, NOT THE OCCUPANT. Only

two naming items remain, and both are narrow. Section 8.

1. THE AXES, EACH GROUNDED IN CITED CANON

The ruling block names six Josh-seeded axes plus two same-sitting appended axes (7 the cleansing

meter, 8 the vimana traversal-encounter layer). All eight are recorded here. Per the

examples-not-limits rule these are seeds for proper expansion, never exhaustive lists.

1.1 Axis 1 — REALM-TRAVERSAL CLEANSING

chain at server scale: regional vril recharge rate rises permanently, negative-consciousness spawn

rates in the region fall permanently, resource abundance rises, settlements recover, the global

vril restoration meter advances and at canonical thresholds new world realm content unlocks, and

the casual difficulty floor lowers without touching high-end content. Axis 1 plus axis 7 are the

solo-scale twin of a mechanism that is already ACTIVE T1 canon.

realm-road seam key, live and written three times by CH_72 alone. No parallel power stat is

needed.

demand ordinal rising 5 to 11 across Ch 70-76 with the T-RLM-CURVE monotone tooth.

its power yield, releasing it at the ruled climb points (Ch 72-74) and the ceiling (Ch 75). The

trough at Ch 70-71 accepts cleansings and returns nothing. Without this, cleansing makes the

road's single best intensity instrument player-defeatable. The diegetic reading is exact: the

realms of the dead have no living substrate to pay you back with.

declared entry or exit seam — the spine's authored curve outranks the accumulated meter, always.

Cleansing yields POWER, never DEMAND RELIEF: no cleansing may write demand_ordinal.

sits at ambient_threat none-or-low and satisfies the T-A site terrace off existing populated

fields; a cleansed site hosting a character or discovery beat is a natural T-B.

1.2 Axis 2 — RIFT DUNGEONS

Policy (T1_CVD [ACTIVE v1.4] L166-171) confines the random layer to exactly three declared systems

with player-legible triggers: Aggro Magnet, RIFT INSTABILITY ZONES, and Antagonist Hunter

Triggers, with the executable test "random encounters outside the three declared systems = pillar

violation." Rift Instability Zones are already the standing combat trigger across Ch 39-63. A

pop-up rift dungeon is a Rift Instability Zone that has become ENTERABLE — it mints no fourth

system — but the integration wave MUST state that mapping explicitly, because an undeclared

"pop-up dungeon spawner" reads as a pillar violation on the face of the test.

(Health, Vril, Stamina/Rage), the FIFTHS QUANTUM (five collected pieces make one unit), the

sourcing split of roughly sixty percent progression and forty percent found exploration, and fixed

ceilings (vril bubble at seven layers, health stack at five bars, one scaling swap bar). Axis 2 is

a stat-upgrade SOURCE, not a stat-upgrade system.

the citation gate: HL_0002 (mythic monsters, boss encounters, DUNGEON/SITE DESIGN carry fantasy

license, not bound to a citable source), HL_0005 (ruins, tombs and abandoned temples MAY be

trap-laden puzzle-dungeons; a living or occupied sacred site is never reduced to a trap), HL_0092

(fantasy, monster-hunt, vril-combat, DUNGEON, bounty and pure-gameplay generation is NOT gated on

ethnographic sourcing). The procedural licence for the pop-up tier already exists.

ladder with mythic obtainable_by_roll FALSE; CVD §17.13 plus T1_RNG_Sigma_Constraint_System whose

declared scope already covers ambient world events; T0_RNG_Drop_Table's schema; WS_046

item_instance_ledger; Gate 27 (harness/check_rarity_firewall.py) already policing the ladder.

stat-upgrade SOURCE and its budget arithmetic. INSTANCED, REPEATABLE, RANDOMLY-PLACED content

inside Tier A (a new content shape for the solo arena). And a DUNGEON-GRADE rarity axis — a fourth

axis on T0_Rarity_Grade beside item_grade, creature_spawn and pool_option. That fourth axis is a

controlled-vocabulary MINT and must be declared as one, not smuggled in as reuse.

three. T1_Combat_System_Spec caps the vril bubble at seven layers and the health stack at five

bars — twelve BOUNDED units at five pieces each, roughly forty percent of them riding the

exploration channel — but it describes the Stamina or Rage swap lane as "a single bar that scales

numerically with no visual stacking," and states no ceiling on it. The swap bar is therefore an

OPEN-ENDED SINK that can absorb additional dungeon rewards without exhausting a currency. The

constraint is real and still gates authoring: the count of authored stat-upgrade dungeons granting

VRIL or HEALTH upgrades is fixed by the twelve-unit arithmetic and the 60/40 split, and any

authored count beyond it must route its reward to the swap lane or to a non-stat reward class. It

is not the wall the first form of this record described. The arithmetic must be DERIVED before

authoring, not chosen and reconciled after (C-11, worklist X-2).

1.3 Axis 3 — THE VISIBILITY LAW

perception across Tier 1-5 Outer Order: "the protagonist sees vril concentrations, recharge sites,

and atmospheric density variation," with the substrate-perception threshold locked at Adeptus

Minor (Tier 6) per CVD §17.3. A Hollow at a natural deadzone is a vril-density anomaly standing

up, so reading a drained place as wrong is precisely the Outer-Order capability.

and distinguishes it from both Vril Sight and the tier-6 substrate read, bound by HL_0028. The

game already ships a player-facing drained-vril clue at Ch 2 (CLUE_CH02_H1, key hollow_gift).

one of the encounter playable rather than a loading screen.

1.4 Axis 4 — AFFLICTION CLEANSING

template with its care discipline intact: unmask the counterfeit without harming the genuine Naga,

striking the genuine is a failure state, the counterfeit carries a role-title and never a

people-name. The Ch-26 strigoi-as-vril-parasite plus creature-system.md FU.3 class B fix the verb

where the affliction sits on a PERSON — contain, purge and restore; the person is saved, the

monster is not kept.

atmospheric resolution model (perception, vril-management and restraint rather than raw damage;

gates on Intuition plus Constitution plus Integrity) AND two authored failure states:

combat-scale vril expenditure destroys both the genuine echo and the negative manifestation

producing environmental degradation and faction loss, and insufficient vril management feeds the

manifestation so it strengthens for the later revisit. Reuse both rather than re-deriving them.

distinct from the five-band world state), faction standing (§8.7 on the §8.11.1 nine-band ladder),

and cross-chapter accumulation (§4.9, §8.3, the Ch 59-65 continental revisits). WS_019

community_state_per_region already carries recovery_state and a last-protagonist field, so axis 4

needs NO new community key.

objectives_array, completion_condition, fail_state, progression_guarantee, state_writes,

fork_option_refs and reward_class; the quest_type enum already contains folklore_combat. No enum

mint is needed for the affliction form.

triangulation, locus, fork) and the recognition that an un-cleansed affliction is a VISIBLE STATE

OF THE PLACE rather than social memory — which makes the affliction layer the natural primary

populator of the currently-thin Ch 59-65 revisit content.

triangulate) and is therefore more expensive per unit than a boss encounter. Author a small number

deliberately; do not let the affliction form become the default Hollow encounter.

1.5 Axis 5 — EVIL-PATH HOLLOW ABILITIES

Layer E path-locked alternates emerging through integrity-band gating on existing catalog entries;

§13 names the L4/L5 predation roster, and the live line names FOUR — Soul Drain, Corruption Stone,

Drowning Grasp, Void Command. A fifth, "Corruption Spread," was carried by the evil-path dive and

does NOT verify against the live §13 line; it is dropped here rather than propagated, and a

re-read is the cheap confirmation. Void Command — cited as §11.7, with its live text sitting at

T1_Ability_Tree L938 (confirm the section number before any citation lands) — is Tier 7 Adeptus

Major, unlocking at L5 Pure Evil plus Crown numerical 151-199 plus all evil-path Tier 5 abilities

completed, and it has the protagonist DIRECT NEGATIVE-CONSCIOUSNESS MANIFESTATIONS AS SUMMONS. A Hollow IS a negative-consciousness

manifestation (creature-system.md FU.1; T1_Integrity §8.8 uses that phrase as the standing class

term). Void Command already commands Hollows in canon. Axis 5 is the completion of an existing

terminal branch that was authored with a chain prerequisite and no successors.

existing disciplines and mint no new schools) and T0_School_Registry carries exactly SCH_001

through SCH_013. State both grounds, because D-RR.5's literal chapter scope is 70-74 and a later

agent could read a 66-69 debut as a loophole; the locked 13-count binds everywhere regardless.

class: the integrity score routed through the §5.1 choice-type architecture exactly as the

assimilation-integrity choice does at §5.5.3 (cite §5.5.3 so no later agent reads a new band into

this); the substrate, per §10.7's Soul Drain precedent accumulating negative vril at a vril-seat

position; and the mark at §5.5.4, which is the currency that makes absorb heavy without a morality

scorecard because the village keeps the receipt.

belief-distance scalar from the integrity BAND, never from observed deeds, precisely because

integrity is a real property per §2.2. A hollow build therefore strains loyalty automatically and

even unwitnessed (§7.4: conscious beings read the appearance shift as direct vril-signature

perception). Adding a "companions react to hollow abilities" mechanic would double-count the same

signal and contradict §2.2. Record the refusal explicitly so the schema pass does not helpfully

add one. WAVERING (effective trigger minus 15) is the authored warning window. The for-life

inversion at §8.11.3 is the deep-build cost: Ntala (CHAR_0002) travels for life on the good

registers and on Evil the bond INVERTS into an endgame opposition encounter, care register grief

never triumph — and the affliction layer supplies her motivation cleanly.

protagonist ages like a human through Childhood and Adolescence and regains elven long-life once

vril is remastered. Elven nature is ALREADY modelled as a function of vril-substrate quality

rather than a fixed racial stat, so nothing needs inventing to make it lose-able. T1_Ability_Tree

§11: an ability is channelled from vril within (the reclaimed elven birthright) and vril around.

Hollow abilities are channelled from what she absorbed instead — the same power curve, a different

substrate. On the absorb path the longevity restoration curve stalls or inverts; magnitudes are a

Phase-5M item and no numbers are minted here.

cassus, hollow; the Hollow is the blight his substrate throws off; the absorb-path protagonist

becomes the third instance of the same word). The journal is never completed on the Evil path

(§8.4, §9.4). The familiar becomes trace-only and her own corrupted substrate cannot stably read

it (§9.5) — the cruellest and most mechanical line in the corpus. And Void Command's authored cost

is that the Grand Sage stops appearing, which given Ch 77 is the most literal "less yourself"

available. HL_0014 needs EXPRESSION, not invention.

pools like every other capability (§5I.3 admits no exception, and exempting the lane would make

the sweeps blind to it). Hollow abilities must NEVER route to the gear-imprint lane, because an

affix is removable by unequipping and that directly contradicts "you turn less yourself" — the

permitted adjacency is an absorbed residue as an imprint SOURCE, which is loot rather than

selfhood. Absorbs must never grant MYTHIC pool options: §5I.4 makes mythic earned and never

dropped, and absorbing is a drop-shaped source. And hollow power belongs in CATALOG ACCESS, never

in the §13 integrity-band modifier table, or the L1/L5 mirror symmetry breaks.

viability-breadth scorecards per path bucket with L4 and L5 hollow builds as first-class rows, and

the three defect definitions applying within the evil bucket rather than only in aggregate. The

Evil path is a minority playthrough and under THE JOSH GATE the AI QA loop is the only player, so

loop playtime concentrates where the content mass is. This is not new scope: ENTITY_PERSONA_SYSTEM

§3.4 Mechanism 3 already weights the Evil and Good paths equally in production scope.

1.6 Axis 6 — THE EVENT LAYER

pre-Claude operational architecture: four teams (Environmental Manipulation 10-15, Combat Core

25-30, Spawnling Management 60 in groups of 5-10, Enhancement and Protection at elevated vantage)

plus an adaptive boss AI that weights successful attack patterns upward mid-fight and resets on

respawn. Three non-generic fits follow. The SPAWNLING mechanic is the Hollow's own physics at

scale — negative vril pooling, hardening and standing up is exactly FU.1, so throwing off lesser

bodies needs no invented justification. The ENVIRONMENTAL team has real work because a Hollow is

locus-bound by definition, so reshaping the place is mechanically load-bearing against it in a way

it would not be against a mobile monster. And the KILL BENEFIT is already the cleansing chain

(§8.4).

§12.7 rules negative vril is not personified evil. An adaptive boss AI reads as a WILL unless it

is authored as a hardening SYSTEM: the substrate finds the paths that meet less resistance and

hardens along them, and it forgets on respawn because nothing was remembering. That framing keeps

§8.8 intact and never gives the substrate a mind.

"Seasonal" matches eight-plus files (fauna seasonal_behavior, Sami drum iconography, monsoon

kusi/kaskazi) and "weekly" matches (Khmer near-weekly ceremonies, book-pipeline cadence); neither

ever denotes a live-ops content schedule. Nothing in T1, CVD or T0 defines a rotation.

window changes one RULE of the encounter — the site's law (how gravity behaves, what light does,

whether sound carries, how the vril pool refills) — reusing the realm signature-law grammar the

road already teaches. Every scheduled event row declares a changed_law_ref, and a window reusing

the immediately preceding window's law FAILS the gate. This is Pattern A's clause-3 register

rotation re-pointed at a different column: proven rule machinery, not new. Novelty by rule costs

design time rather than art time, which is the right trade for a solo build.

never published in-game. The event layer must not ship a recommended composition — per-server

strategy variation is one of the two canonical counterweights to meta-collapse and the event layer

is what can most easily destroy it.

1.7 Axis 7 — THE WORLD'S CLEANSING METER

architectural move Tier C itself keeps making at §8.7 and §8.9 (design once, read at two arena

sizes). The benefit vocabulary is already written — regional recharge, reduced negative spawn,

resource abundance, settlement recovery, threshold unlocks, and a lowered difficulty floor that

never touches high-end content. Tier A should use the same six at solo scale rather than inventing

a parallel list. The lowered-floor clause is a quiet gift to the valleys-never-boring rider: a

cleansed region is a region where ambient pressure drops, which is a terrace generator.

tiers, optional region content, optional venue access. MAY NEVER GATE: the main story path, any

chapter progression, any node the multi-path and no-dead-end law protects, or any content whose

absence strands a player. THE HARNESS TOOTH: every meter-gated unlock declares a gate_ref and the

gate walks the story graph to prove a non-meter path to arc completion exists — testable off the

existing gate graph rather than by review.

axis-7 verbatim scopes the completionist claim to a noun: "so completionists can track to 100%

completion on rift cleansing." The scope word is RIFT. This record's tier predicate (section 2.1)

makes meter-writing the tier boundary and section 2.4 places the AFFLICTION and REALM-TRAVERSAL

lanes inside the content tier, which writes more than rift cleansing into the same number. Those

do not compose without a decision: either the meter counts more than rift cleansing, which

silently widens a ruled scope, or the affliction lane does not write it, which tiers that whole

lane as whisper and contradicts sections 2.4 and 3.6. RECOMMENDED RESOLUTION, carried to Josh as

JB-2 rather than applied: the ledger carries a RIFT SUB-AXIS that is Josh's literal completionist

100 percent, sitting inside a broader CONTENT COMPLETION LEDGER that the affliction and

realm-traversal lanes also write; the tier predicate then restates as "its resolution writes a

content completion ledger," and holds under either reading of Josh's sentence. Everything else in

section 2 survives that restatement unchanged, and the cost of being wrong is one column.

forever. The Tier-A denominator counts IN-BOX content only; live-ops event cleansings accumulate

on a separate seasonal tally that never enters the completionist denominator. THE OFFLINE TEST,

stated so it can be run: disconnect the machine and every Tier-A axis must still reach 100%. Under

the recommended resolution the rule applies to the RIFT sub-axis and to the broader ledger

independently — each must reach its own 100% offline.

unlock condition, or any completion denominator. Whisper records are lore and nothing else.

1.8 Axis 8 — THE VIMANA TRAVERSAL-ENCOUNTER LAYER

appended to the ruling block after the four dive briefs were issued. B2 §6.6 explicitly hands it

forward; B1, B3 and B4 do not reach it. It is named here rather than papered over.

the controlled dimensional-traversal device, demonstrates dimensional-space navigation at Ch 66

Atlantis, and does NOT enter Ch 67, Ch 68 or Ch 69 (those use threshold traversal). NAMING

CAUTION, and it is a separate repo defect: L225 still writes those three as Pohjola, the Apsu and

the Duat, while the same document's own drift log records the v2.1 canonical-name lock to

POHLJAR, TIAMARATH and MAATHERION. The retired names are reproduced here only to identify the

source line; no axis-8 derivation may propagate them, and L225 is flagged as a residual-staleness

site (C-14). The Fork-C playable-travel ruling (compressed-geography segments, 78 seams typed

T0-T3, important crossings built as dungeons) is the surface axis 8 turns into an ENCOUNTER

surface. The pre-Ch-41 coordinate-foreshadowing discipline binds the acquisition question.

applies without variation; and the encounter-while-travelling grammar is the natural home for the

valleys-never-boring rider on travel segments.

the per-medium encounter grammar; and whether a vimana-borne rift encounter can reach loci the

foot-traversal gates would otherwise exclude, which is a Gate-3 exposure. Worklist item X-14.

2. THE TWO-TIER ARCHITECTURE

2.1 The predicate

LEDGER. Otherwise it is WHISPER-TIER.

scopes the completionist claim to "100% completion on rift cleansing," while sections 2.4 and 3.6

place the affliction and realm-traversal lanes inside the content tier. Under the recommended

resolution the ledger carries a RIFT SUB-AXIS (Josh's literal 100 percent) inside a broader

content completion ledger the other lanes also write, so the predicate holds whether Josh scopes

the meter narrowly or broadly. The fork is JB-2 and is NOT self-closed here; nothing else in

section 2 depends on which way it lands.

ledger_axis token (RIFT | AFFLICTION | REALM) so a narrow ruling is a filter rather than a

migration. A gate reads both directly and no judgement call survives into the build.

AUTHORIAL and REGISTRY terms only. They carry no player-facing implication and do not touch H-2.

2.2 Why the ledger line and not the alternatives

gating power to the same one, in a single clause.

sigma-spawned wild encounters is uncompletable by construction because the player can never know

how many exist. A meter reaches a knowable 100% only if its denominator is the count of authored,

density-governed content nodes. Axis 7 therefore REQUIRES this boundary.

opposed instruments) gets its cleanest expression: the thing the game counts is content, and the

thing the game refuses to count stays dreadful. The whisper tier is not rare because a designer

capped a spawn rate; it is rare because nothing in the game will ever tell you how many there are.

advances the global meter per §8.4 and a wild encounter does not.

tuning pass, inverts under the pop-up rarity grade); PERCEPTION (axis 3 binds BOTH tiers, and a

shared property cannot discriminate); EMBODIMENT (factually wrong — FU.1 makes a half-formed body

the CLASS definition, not a tier property); AUTHORSHIP (a production axis, and it cuts the wrong

way since realm and affliction content are heavily authored while a whisper is sigma-spawned —

retained only as the SECONDARY axis deciding a content row's registry home); ANNOUNCEMENT (needs

its own boundary drawn first; adopted as a consequence, not the discriminator).

2.3 Whisper-tier governance

§17.13 sigma runs INSIDE it, one sigma window per capped slot. Stated the other way round it

breaks: an unbounded sigma ceiling across the whole arc is a promise to keep delivering, which is

the farm the cap exists to prevent. This ordering survives the ruling unchanged.

first sight, no NPC explaining that the class exists or how to find one. The admission brief's

precision holds — this forbids announcing the Hollow, never knowing the verb, because HL_0080

teaches the same four-step protocol as authored chapter content from Ch 10.

(section 7.1). Documentation opens perception.

Earth-arc register, and where the folklore economy lives.

upgrade, no drop.

never-fought as a class property, and the valleys-never-boring rider makes an encounter the player

can only stand and watch a defect rather than a mood. The dread comes from rarity, silence and the

total absence of system acknowledgement — never from unfightability.

2.4 Content-tier governance — five density budgets, one per surface

curve. Tightest budget on the board, because a Hollow density that flattens the Ch 70-71 trough

would destroy the road's best instrument.

dungeons in a region is the number of upgrades the region is allowed to grant, and the arc total

is fixed by the fifths-quantum arithmetic at 1.2. This is where most of the meter's denominator

lives.

2.5 The one line where the tiers touch, and how it resolves

world's rarest thing becomes perceptible to the player who did the work, which is the Outer Wilds

knowledge-as-progression lens.

and may NEVER raise the whisper CAP. The cap is arc-wide and fixed. A gate can read it; nothing

can grow it.

2.6 The hard-line check — HL_0080's SCOPE IS AMBIGUOUS AND RETURNS TO JOSH

This section is an INTERIM DIRECTOR INTERPRETATION, not a clearance. The first form of this record

self-closed the question; the adversarial critique found the closure unsafe and the escalation

inverted — a stale chapter NUMBER was being sent to Josh (JB-4) while a substantive SCOPE ambiguity

on the same registry was being closed by the loop, in a wave whose own ruling block says any

hard-line touch returns as a brief. The contradiction is therefore named on the record and carried

to Josh as JB-1.

through damage," and "Scope: this non-damage protocol governs ONLY the negative-vril / sacred-site

atmospheric echo (the Hollow-adjacent CONTAIN-verb class)." Severity is canonical.

class NEXT TO the Hollow, so the Hollow itself sits outside the governed subject and the fought

content tier does not contradict the row. READING 2 (the critique's, and it is at least as

natural): the phrase names the governed class BY its adjacency to the Hollow — that is, the

Hollow's own family — in which case a fought Hollow is exactly the thing the row says cannot be

defeated through damage. The record's supporting premise for reading 1, that HL_0080's subject is

"an atmospheric manifestation with no body," is an INFERENCE: the row says "not

person/animal/conventional opponent" and never says no body, and the FU.1 half-formed-body

distinction is a PROPOSAL-TIER claim being used to narrow a CANONICAL row. Proposal tier does not

narrow canon. That is an ambiguity, not a clearance.

BLIGHT and collect_verb CONTAIN_BLIGHT, with a phase-2 fight and a phase-3 body failure. That is a

fought CONTAIN-verb negative-vril manifestation being minted into the same vocabulary space

HL_0080's scope clause names. SEQUENCING RULE: X-9 lands AFTER JB-1 resolves, or the mint hardens

the ambiguity into the registries.

tier proceeding at proposal tier only and no registry mint landing. If Josh rules reading 2, the

fix is small and known — either a five-word scope edit on HL_0080 (the cost the admission brief

already priced) or a routing clause that names the fought tier explicitly. Nothing else in this

record moves under either ruling; the tier boundary, the four-phase grammar and the fork are all

independent of it.

failure mode this expansion is most likely to produce: the containment beat is staged as "an

action-forward, vril-taxing set-piece — dodge, parry, and manage the pool under real pressure —

not a static perceive-and-wait puzzle," and the protocol is "ONE encounter class within a chapter,

never the chapter's sole combat layer." Those riders and the valleys-never-boring rider agree.

That agreement is NOT evidence that the damage clause clears — it is a different clause, and the

first form's "which is a good sign" inference is withdrawn.

route a Hollow encounter into the HL_0080 protocol because both involve negative vril and a

containment verb. RECOMMENDATION, and it is free: put the disambiguation in the class row's

firewall_anchor field and in the creature-system.md supersession pass — both proposal-tier,

neither a hard-line touch — whichever way JB-1 lands.

HL_0020: protected structurally, because a Hollow is definitionally not an individual so no Hollow

beat can be a purge on an individual (its stale Ch-74 number is a separate repo defect, JB-4).

HL_0057/HL_0058: untouched — fighting a thing does not make it collectible as a living entry.

HL_0046: the class never speaks, and a dungeon boss must not be given a voice line to break it.

HL_0043: the content tier has the most exposure, because a dungeon UI and a quest log are where an

explanation leaks; handled by section 8. HL_0048's peak clause binds Ch 1-69 only after the fourth

sitting, so realm-road Hollow density is unconstrained by it; the mode-variety clause still binds.

3. THE ENCOUNTER GRAMMAR

3.1 The reconciliation, stated once

thing that is no longer resisting; the ruling adds the part where it resists.

becomes CLEANSE (heal the place or the person), harvest becomes ABSORB (the evil-integrity path).

Adopt Josh's words as canonical and record purify and harvest as RETIRED SYNONYMS, so no later

agent reads them as a different mechanic.

3.2 The four phases

vril-conscious read at the locus. Affliction: the clue chain (symptom-testimony from people who

cannot see the cause, a diagnosis assembled, the locus found). Dungeon: the rift mouth, visible to

the vril-conscious, and the one content-tier surface where the world addresses the player. The

Obra Dinn lens applies here and only here — the record the player later lifts should require them

to have UNDERSTOOD something, not merely to have arrived.

under real pressure — HL_0080's own language for the class its protocol governs, and the correct

register here whichever way the scope question at 2.6 lands.

The HARDENING-PULL is the class's signature mechanic: an escalating field that leans on the

player's signature the longer they stay close, never an unleavable debuff. This is where the

layer-1 fun lives and where the valleys-never-boring rider is satisfied for the whole class. As

the class's ONE signature law it composes with each realm's own law rather than competing.

neither standing nor sealed. IT IS NOT DEATH AND THERE IS NO CORPSE — the body was never alive.

Stated as an invariant because it is the single most likely place for a kill-loot grammar to

creep in. The break is a state and not a cutscene: the player acts during it, which is what makes

phase four a choice rather than a menu.

CLEANSE: the charge stabilized, the gap sealed, a measure of positive substrate returned, the

record lifted, the person or place set right; on the content tier this writes the content

completion ledger, and its RIFT sub-axis where the node is a rift node (section 1.7, JB-2).

ABSORB:

the charge drawn into the player's own signature, the Hollow gone and the immediate affliction

lifted so nothing dead-ends — but the gap NOT sealed and no substrate returned, with the

evil-integrity cost charged and the absorb track advanced.

3.3 The unsealed gap — the price that makes absorb cost something real

rather than CLEANSED; the place stays drained, the region's vril does not rise, the meter does not

advance on that node, and the node remains RE-CLEANSABLE later.

working as story: you took the substrate that belonged to the land. It gives world state a

visible, walkable record of the player's path, which is what WS_003 and the integrity-visible

aesthetic layer already exist to express.

path, at a revisit cost and never a lockout. An evil-path completionist can still finish the axis.

punished for the player's path and no quest dead-ends. Josh's framing supports it — "defeat it to

heal or absorb it instead" is two ways to end one encounter, not one way and one failure.

Pro, the completionist axis becomes path-neutral with no revisit tax. Con, the meter then measures

nothing about the world and becomes a kill counter, collapsing axis 1's premise (cleansing

strengthens world vril potency, and that strengthening is part of the way home) because absorbing

strengthens the PLAYER, not the world. Rejected here, but it is a genuine fork and a one-column

change. Director ruling, worklist item D-1.

3.4 The anti-kill-loot teeth — four assertions that make a tone rule a schema rule

or a win_reward containing an item id. There is no corpse to loot.

dungeon; a pop-up's rarity-graded rewards belong to the chest and the site; an affliction quest's

reward belongs to the community relationship. The entity yields the fork's outcome and nothing

else.

A "Hollows defeated" statistic is a BANNED SURFACE — it is a kill counter wearing a completionist

hat and it re-imports the farm the cap exists to prevent.

without the player choosing. The moment a fork can be skipped, the encounter is a kill.

3.5 The one-being ontology at content scale

pocket); the WORN SHAPE (the eroded silhouette of what that place lost — locus-derived, the

class's own canon per FU.1, cosmetic and narrative only, never a stat or ability set); the

MAGNITUDE (a threat scalar); the PHASE CONFIGURATION (how many pressure phases, which site hazards,

which realm law is in force).

substrate-gap); the verb set and the four phases; the fork and the fact that it is the only ending;

the visibility law, the silence, and the hardening-pull signature; the reward class.

definition, referenced by every encounter and record; no encounter row may declare a species id, a

proper name or an elemental affinity another lacks. NO ABILITY DIFFERENTIATION: no Hollow may have

an ability another lacks in KIND — a larger one hits harder, it does not have a different move.

ONE ABSORB SCHOOL: the hollow-ability lane unlocks on absorb DEPTH, never on which Hollow was

absorbed, because a per-Hollow ability drop would create a collect-them-all incentive that

manufactures variants by demand and destroys both the ontology and the dread in one move.

region's Hollow wears something the coast lost and a highland region's wears something else. That

is apparent variety at zero species proliferation, and it feeds the L2 folklore layer directly.

3.6 The affliction variation — the one grammar worth authoring separately

shared anomaly through their own life, job and relationships per the thirteen-field persona

schema — the dough will not rise, the animals will not cross a line, a child sleeps too much, the

well tastes of nothing. No one says "hollow." STAGE 2, TRIANGULATION: testimonies cross-reference

against each other and the world; the natural-voice doctrine binds hardest here, so the diagnosis

carries a FLOOR (a low-perception player still reaches the Hollow, later and with less credit) and

the demanding read rides the completionist and L3 tiers. STAGE 3, THE LOCUS: resolves to a

deadzone or a Velheim extraction scar or corruption seam — and the reveal constraint binds

precisely here (pre-Ch-39 quests use DEADZONE loci only). STAGE 4, THE FORK.

absorbing sets the village right AND takes from it. The villagers cannot see either. A genuinely

uncomfortable choice with no NPC to judge it, which is the mature register the class exists to

carry.

requires that whatever the healed village would have opened — a trader, a route, a recipe, a

companion candidate — has an equivalent-class alternative reachable on the absorb path, and

because "the good path gets the full dex" is a natural drift for a later author to introduce.

construction. Every affliction quest carries the §8.8 playable encounter at minimum plus at least

one L1 verb per stage: the symptom field is explored physically rather than menu-read, the

triangulation includes a test the player PERFORMS, the locus is reached by traversal or a

rift-dungeon approach, and the fork is a fight. The terrace critic rubric's boring-check lens

should list the affliction quest class explicitly, since its natural failure mode is exactly the

one the rider bans.

build in or find something in is playable rest; a cleansed site that is a stat bump and a fade is a

rider violation. The restored site is content, not a reward screen.

PURGE, FREE, PACIFY), win_shape (live values include seal and witness), restore_target,

has_nonkill_path (16 rows TRUE), defeat_protected, ontology_class, collect_verb, composure_nodes

(280 of 281 populated), pip_count, phase_trigger, escalation_vector, engagement_modes_object,

ws_writes, care_tier, and the full mesh and generation pipeline block. The precedents are already

in the table: BE_PROLOGUE ("The First Rift," explicitly not an antagonist and not a person,

primary_verb seal, no fail wall); BE_0029 (boss_kind environmental, "not a person and not malice,"

resolved by PURGE); BE_0002 (ontology_class CONSTRUCT, collect_verb FIGHT, win_condition

REDUCE;FREE, has_nonkill_path TRUE). The ONLY stated reason the admission brief refused a BE_ row

was the never-fought property, and Josh superseded it.

encounter templates assembled at runtime from a bounded token pool, per the doctrine

RUNTIME_GENERATIVE_LAYER.md already states (deterministic code owns the mechanics, the model

contributes strategy tokens only, everything validated against the canon graph with an authored

fallback; class 6 environments-and-world-state is the right home for site assembly). This is the

only way the pop-up surface scales without minting thousands of rows.

cap-versus-density tension: THE CODEX STAYS THE WHISPER LOGBOOK. Its rows are the capped

observation records of the uncounted tier; content-tier resolutions log to the METER and to the

region and community ledgers. Sharpening 2's cap survives untouched, the logbook stays a folklore

logbook rather than a dex, and the content tier gets its tracking from the systems that already

track world state.

boss surface already has (composure nodes, pip counts, the attack rail, care tier, the mesh

pipeline, the QA belt's encounter sweeps) and the twins would drift — the same defect the realm

charter already rejected in a different form. Loading encounter mechanics into the codex either

breaks its cap or caps the content, and both are wrong.

6.3 New worldstate keys — three, all deliberately keyed-replace

to the player as N of M (which is what a completionist meter must be), the denominator can grow as

content ships without migrating saves, and a float would make the 100% claim unauditable.

PER-AXIS, not single: the numerator and denominator are carried per ledger_axis (RIFT |

AFFLICTION | REALM) with a roll-up, so JB-2 lands as a display and gating choice rather than a

save migration — a narrow ruling reads the RIFT pair as the completionist 100 percent, a broad

ruling reads the roll-up. Consumers: the ability and mastery gate resolvers, the easter-egg unlock

grade, region_id, last_resolution_ref. This is the row the RIFT sub-axis counts — the affliction

this key — and it is what makes an absorbed node re-cleansable, which is what preserves

no-dead-end under section 3.3.

be separate from integrity_score so the two are independently readable — a player can be

low-integrity without being hollowed, and that distinction is HL_0014's whole point.

WS_046 both required a ruled-list edit to APPEND_LEGAL_IDS in harness/check_ws_value_form.py

because they are append/accumulate shapes, and that list is a Josh-ruled set (D-CG25-APPEND-SET,

currently FOURTEEN ids — WS_008, WS_010, WS_012, WS_018, WS_019, WS_020, WS_021, WS_026, WS_027,

WS_028, WS_031, WS_034, WS_044, WS_046 — read off the frozenset in

harness/check_ws_value_form.py; the first form of this record said twelve). All three keys above

are shaped KEYED-REPLACE so the Hollow wiring lands

WITHOUT touching a ruled list. If a later design wants an append-only cleansing LEDGER (every

event recorded, not just node state), that is the moment the ruled-list edit becomes necessary and

7. THE RE-DERIVED REVEAL LADDER

7.1 The three-rung perception ladder — the wave's largest correction

The live HW_0001 perception_gate reads "tier-gated vril-sight." Read literally against

T1_Ability_Tree L896 that floors the whole class at Ch 15, which would put every Hollow lane OUTSIDE

the vertical slice (Prologue to Ch 13) and make the class invisible at THE JOSH GATE. That reading

is wrong and canon says so three ways: T1_Vril §9 (the owning doc) grants surface-vril perception

across Tier 1-5 Outer Order; HL_0028 locks the SUBSTRATE read at Tier 6 Adeptus Minor and not all

perception, and the pre-Ch-15 limit that follows from it is DERIVED — the row's own text sets the

threshold at Adeptus Minor with universal scope and carries no chapter clause, so the chapter floor

comes through the mastery clock plus the spine's application as a ceiling in CH_02, CH_03, CH_04 and

CH_10 (state it as derived, or the next agent reads the row and finds nothing); and the game already

ships a player-facing drained-vril clue at Ch 2.

it. Carries the whisper tier and the sensing half of the affliction lane.

legible AS a blight. Carries the diagnostic half of the affliction lane and the codex's first real

entries.

substrate: what shape the thing wears and what marked the ground. The depth rung.

carry the five gates rather than the placeholder "design-layer."

7.2 The five gates — three kept, three added, one renumbered

region's own register; NPCs may fear it, describe it in their own worldview's terms, and be wrong.

Safe because negative-vril corruption is on stage from Ch 6 and the drained-vril sensation from

Ch 2. The expansion STRENGTHENS this: a diagnose-by-clue loop is unplayable if the world may not

say what a drained place is.

pre-39 Hollow stands at a natural deadzone. The expansion makes this MORE load-bearing, because a

spawn table that can place a scar locus leaks the pattern without an author ever writing a line.

and random-event spawners draw locus type from a CHAPTER-SCOPED table in which

VELHEIM_EXTRACTION_SCAR and CORRUPTION_SEAM are absent below Ch 39. This is the first reveal

constraint in the corpus that must live in a DATA TABLE rather than in prose, because no prose

critic reads a spawner. It is checkable and should become a harness assertion; until it exists it

is a review obligation, and that limit is stated rather than smoothed.

Perception explicitly reads antagonist-family vessel substrate-state within the canonical region

and comes online at Ch 15. Gate 1 removes the object; Gate 4 constrains the OUTPUT, so a Ch 15-38

Hollow read at full depth returns over-drawn ground, drought, an old wound in the density — and

never a signature, a hand, a mark, or A NEGATION OF ONE. The negation form is the known leak

(D-14 as corrected at RR-32: invoking and negating the who-frame still plants the scaffolding).

that presents as a naming gate, and it converts into the ladder's best payoff (section 8.4).

cleared forty rift dungeons, healed a dozen communities and — on the evil road — drunk several

stolen shapes, and who at Ch 76 learns the patriarch's name, is a larger retrospective detonation

than the rare-ambient class could ever have carried. The expansion INCREASES the value of holding

the depth, which is the strongest argument that the ladder must not be relaxed to buy the

expansion room.

7.3 The lane windows — one window per lane, not one window for "the Hollow"

RECOMMENDED floor Ch 3, with the first authored rift dungeon INSIDE the vertical slice. Three

grounds: the slice is the Josh Gate and a core BotW-register loop that never appears in it is a

loop whose fun is never judged; the diegetic set-up is already perfect and free (the protagonist

FELL THROUGH a rift at Ch 1 and lost the familiar to it, so the first rift she chooses to walk

into is the most loaded door in the early game); and the stat-upgrade reward is exactly what a

slice needs to demonstrate a progression curve. CONTESTED — see section 10, C-2.

mid-slice, after the Ch-2 prototype has taught the sensation and the Ch 3-5 region web has taught

what a community is. THE ABSORB FORK FLOORS AT Ch 14, canon-derived: the resolved D-06 model puts

the Childhood-to-Adolescence crossing at the Ch 13/14 boundary, and offering a seven-to-thirteen

year old the evil-integrity option is both tonally wrong and mechanically wasted (integrity

initializes at zero at Ch 2 and has nothing to weigh yet). The slice therefore ships the HEAL path

only, and the moral fork opens in the same breath as adolescence and the healer's child joining.

Crown vril-seat, Device 1, unlocked at the Ch 15 Egypt tomb-artifact activation; hard canon in

three documents and already load-bearing at Ch 38, 44, 46, 51, 56, 57, 58, 61, 63, 64). The

MYTHOLOGICAL road Ch 66-74 (Ch 66 Atlantis dimensional-space via the Vimana; Ch 67-69 threshold

traversal; the fairy realm via the World Tree crossing at Ch 74). Realm cleansing as an ARC is

therefore a Ch 66-74 structure, which is exactly where the ruled Final Ascent lives — the two

rulings compose rather than compete.

AMULET_PROVENANCE_BRIEF L400 is explicit and ratified — the mother's death must have NO author; a

rift-spawn is the depleted dark pressing through, ambient, unauthored and unnamed. A Hollow

standing in that rift gives the death an author and leaks the antagonist pattern roughly

thirty-eight chapters early. Prologue rift content stays rift-closing without an occupant.

hit and it is Josh's own ruling sentence. The honest reading of "astral realm or spirit realm" is

the ASTRAL register plus the mythological road, both of which already exist. A "spirit realm" as a

distinct authored plane would be new canon and is NOT invented here.

7.4 The two residual reveal exposures, named

The adversarial critique graded the five-gate ladder AIRTIGHT IN STRUCTURE and confirmed that the

harness carries check_reveal_discipline.py and check_grand_sage_silence.py, neither of which reads a

spawn table, a concept board or a material. Two residual exposures survive that grading. Neither is

fatal; both are named here so the landing carries them rather than discovering them later.

ability names AS DATA. If it is implemented as a live string table, the post-reveal keys and their

values must NOT sit in shipped data before Ch 76 — a datamine surface of exactly the same class as

the concept-board gap this record already names, and one no prose critic can reach. THE SHAPE THAT

CLOSES IT: the pre-reveal descriptive names are the shipped keys, and the post-reveal titles

arrive as a gated overlay resolved at runtime against the reveal state, never as a second column

sitting beside the first in the shipped table. ADDED TO X-20's SCOPE.

and HL_0043 bans thesis declaration in marketing copy. "Rift" carries ZERO cassus load and CLEARS

— but the brief must CITE HL_0043 so the clearance is on the record rather than assumed, and so a

later season that wants a heavier noun finds the test already written down.

8. THE NAMING POSTURE AND THE H-2 STRESS-TEST OUTCOME

8.1 The verdict

H-2 DOES NOT RETURN TO JOSH ON FEASIBILITY GROUNDS. The ruled shape — "the Hollow" as authorial and

registry term only, no global player-facing noun, the player layer being what each culture SAYS

descriptively about a drained place in its own attested worldview, a vernacular term only where a

source genuinely attests one — carries every surface the expansion adds.

8.2 The structural move the admission brief had not made — NAME THE DOOR, NOT THE OCCUPANT

BEING. It does not. The expansion hands the player a second, better-behaved object: THE RIFT.

environmental, not tools, and states the protagonist fell through one at Ch 1). It is already

diegetically live on a player surface from the Prologue and Ch 1. It carries ZERO cassus load, so

it cannot spend the ambient field the Ch-76 detonation runs on. It does not attract the

FromSoftware and Hollow Knight collision. And it is TRUE to the fiction rather than a workaround:

rift dungeons are rifts, pop-ups are rifts, the world events happen at rift sites and drained

places. The Hollow is what is inside; the player's vocabulary attaches to the door they walk

through, which is how a person would talk.

what they think is wrong with them. The rift framing does not replace the descriptive layer — it

takes the SYSTEM-UI and LIVE-OPS burden off it, which is exactly the burden the descriptive layer

could not have carried.

8.3 Surface-by-surface outcome

comparator agrees: a shrine is named for where it is and who made it, never for what waits inside.

refuse is a filter category in the legend ("show all X"), which is a class label wearing a UI

costume. Filter by ACTIVITY (rifts) or by STATE (unfinished), never by species.

summary and requires the remembered conversation; a symptom-and-place line is better quest text

than any class noun would produce.

the grouping header is a PLACE-NAME, not a class label. The codex is the player's OWN logbook, so

a name the player wrote is not the game announcing a class.

Achievement text is a permanent machine-listed player surface and must be enrolled in the

natural-voice pass.

8.4 Gate 5 and the reveal re-titling — the constraint that becomes a payoff

fired and the class term is legal, so there is no conflict. But an absorb path that only pays out

at Ch 76 is a forty-chapter promise with no interest, which is bad design.

— take the shape, wear it, drink the dry, stand in the empty. At Ch 76, when the patriarch gives

his name, the ability list and the codex RE-TITLE. The mechanic the player has used for thirty

chapters acquires the word it always belonged to, in the same beat the ambient field detonates.

This makes the naming constraint the single most legible expression of the reveal in the whole

game, it costs a localization key swap, and it is the exact retrospective-detonation structure the

design already specifies for the octopus, Kasa and Khan foundations.

localization key swap" is true of the AUTHORING and false of the SHIPPING. Post-reveal ability

titles sitting in a shipped string table before Ch 76 are datamineable, which leaks the reveal

through data rather than prose and reaches no existing tooth. The post-reveal titles arrive as a

gated runtime overlay, never as a second column beside the pre-reveal names. Section 7.4,

change and no chapter change.

8.5 The event calendar — three solutions, ranked, plus the policy

seasonal or weekly event is an authored story-event with its own name. There is a LIVE PRECEDENT

IN THIS REPO: T0_Festival_Registry carries sixteen rows and every one is a specific named occasion

with its own proper name (Penti, Patika, Uma randang, Nyepi eve and Ogoh-ogoh, Galungan, Tumpek

Landep, Bon Om Touk, Thap Ba Po Nagar). The calendar model already works by proper names.

THE CARE LINE THAT MUST RIDE WITH IT, and it is sharp: those sixteen are REAL LIVING FESTIVALS

belonging to real people. A Hollow-driven combat event must NEVER borrow one, must never be

scheduled on top of one, and must never be named in a way that reads as one. Nyepi is not a

monster hunt. The Hollow event calendar gets its own names for invented occasions, and the

Festival registry stays a separate lane with a separate care register.

the activity (the rift season, the deep rifts, the sealing weeks), giving the storefront and the

events tab a durable, ownable, non-leaking noun with Solution 1's per-event names inside it.

pairing a cleansing verb with a real region and by implication a real people is the §17.1

collective hazard in miniature. If used, the label names the LAND or the PHYSICS, never the

inhabitants.

deliberately never coins a class word; patch notes, community posts, achievement text, store copy

and wiki-facing metadata all use the activity frame or the per-event name. Players will coin their

own word, and that is the design's stated goal — a phenomenon with a dozen local names and no

official word is the strongest folklore generator available. Without a written policy a community

manager or store-page writer mints the class noun in a fortnight and the ruling is undone by drift

rather than by decision, which is precisely how the HW_0001 name-fork pre-emption already happened

once inside this repo.

8.6 The two naming items that remain

marketing noun? It is new, it is cheap to reverse, and it is the one thing in the stress test the

loop is PROPOSING rather than deriving. The brief CITES HL_0043 (no thesis declaration in

marketing copy) and records the clearance explicitly — "rift" carries zero cassus load and passes

— rather than leaving it assumed. Brief JB-6.

MAIN BOSS — a proper-noun "Hollow" on the loudest early player surface in the game. THE SURFACE

LIST IS FOUR FILES, NOT TWO: T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry row 2, build/spine_rows/CH_02/boss.csv,

AND registries/T0_Chapter_Index [ACTIVE v1.2], which carries the same epithet. "The Hollow

Retainer" (BE_0060_S1, Ch 60) likewise lives in BOTH build/spine_rows/CH_60/beats.csv and

build/spine_rows/CH_60/boss.csv. A blocking naming brief that lists half its surfaces produces a

half-applied rename, so the full set rides in the brief. These predate the expansion, and the

natural-voice rewrite pass is already scheduled to touch them. The rewrite MUST NOT independently

keep or independently move an epithet this fork rules on. Brief JB-3.

per-culture layer is an authoring obligation that RECURS FOREVER once live-ops starts. The

campaign's obligation is bounded at 79 nodes and dischargeable by the natural-voice pass; a

seasonal calendar authored against a marketing cadence generates player-facing vocabulary

indefinitely, and each new season needs its own §17.1 read. It is answered by the

community-vocabulary policy plus the activity frame, not by relaxing the rule.

9. THE CARE RULINGS APPLIED

9.1 The frame that must never slip

up. It is a consequence of EXTRACTION, the crime done TO the place, and never a property of the

people who live there.

is what makes the diagnosis possible: the loop is "the people told me where it hurts," not "the

people were wrong about their own world."

completed WITH the community's own practice and credited to them, in the register CH_63 and CH_57

already establish.

people on a purity axis. The place is drained; the people are people.

§17.1 exists to prevent. The player-facing verb is about the LAND and the WATER (the spring runs

again, the ground takes water again); the internal verb stays internal per the no-mode-taxonomy

rule.

9.2 The one live registry DEFECT — a PROVENANCE repair, not a care fork

The first form of this record led this finding on a colonial-posture reading and the adversarial

devil's-advocate pass against over-conservatism found the argument over-reaching. It is re-grounded

here. The ACTION is unchanged and survives untouched; the RATIONALE is corrected, because a

rationale that closes a region is expensive and this one does not need to.

RULED ONTO THAT ROW. It is one of the ten unauthorized divergences (section 4.9), alongside the

unauthorized chapter window, the stripped name-pending marker and the downgraded care register.

Blanking an unauthorized cell removes no content, closes no design space, and needs no care

argument to justify it — it restores the row to what was actually decided. That is the whole

warrant for the repair.

ratified ruling (CH_11.md L293, with L96 and L222 carrying it in the boss and anti-fringe blocks)

is that the chapter deliberately introduces NO folklore malevolent-being boss: Turnbull documents

the Mbuti benevolent-forest cosmology in which misfortune is never an evil agent, and the

neighbouring biloko ogre-spirits belong to the Mongo-Nkundo rather than the Baka or Mbuti. That

ruling's GROUND is ETHNOGRAPHIC ATTRIBUTION, and a Hollow is a non-attributed vril-physics

phenomenon belonging to nobody's tradition — so CH_11's ruling does not by itself bind a Hollow

placement. It is a reason to author such a placement DELIBERATELY, with the chapter's ruling in

the room, not a reason to treat the region as closed.

outsider heals a village that did not know it was sick reproduces a colonial posture" would close

the single most thematically apt Hollow placement in the game — an extraction-scar blight in the

forest whose chapter already names the colonial extraction machine as its sole grounded

antagonist. That is care-tier inflation by this repo's own calibration, and the timid option is

usually the wrong one. The reading survives only as a WRITING CAUTION on how such a quest is

staged (the community's testimony is accurate and load-bearing; the restoration is credited to

them where the design allows; section 9.1 and 9.4 carry the rules), never as a placement veto.

chapter_window token, restore the R17 / firewall / §17.1 care register, populate perception_gate

with the three-rung ladder and reveal_tier with the five gates, restore the name-pending marker if

the name is still open, and author HW_0002 with a NON-family-derived locus.

closure into it: AUTHOR A CONGO HOLLOW DELIBERATELY, with CH_11's ruling in the room, when the

design wants one. The extraction machine — not the forest, and not the people — is what the

drained ground remembers, and that is the chapter's own thesis rather than a departure from it.

9.3 The Ch-2 polo prototype collision — a NEW finding

by the polo's bargain into an emptiness he cannot name, the child senses the offer's vril running

hollow while the village cannot, and the win is a rescue rather than a kill. That is

affliction-cleansing in every structural particular.

game teaches by its own grammar that the polo — a Flores tradition's OWN condemned witch-being —

and the Hollow — vril physics belonging to nobody — are the same class of thing. That collapses

the single care shield the whole class rests on (zero cultural-attribution surface), and it drags

every folklore malevolent-being in the game toward being read as a vril blight in local costume,

which is the flattening the golden-standard enrichment mandate exists to prevent.

FOLKLORE-BEING affliction is resolved WITH THE COMMUNITY'S OWN PRACTICE, with the player assisting

and the credit staying with the tradition (the Balian's right-hand ward at Ch 4, the kattadiya and

edura's drummed rite at Ch 6, the 256-Odu and the ebo at Ch 12). A HOLLOW affliction is resolved

BY THE PLAYER'S VRIL, precisely because no one else can see it. Different verbs, different credit,

different UI, different reward — which makes the two lanes legible as different kinds of wrongness

without one word of exposition.

carries "the Ajogun materialized-affliction" (Yoruba, warded by Ifa) and the Ch-6 Sanni Yakuma

roster is eighteen masked demons "each governing an affliction." Using "affliction" as the lane's

class label puts internal vocabulary on a collision course with two living traditions' own

material. Internally prefer a neutral lane name (the drained-place lane, the deadzone lane);

externally, per H-2, the player never sees a lane name at all.

9.4 The eight care rules, stated so a board or a critic can check them

perception, and that limit is UNIVERSAL rather than local (it binds in the modern cities too).

through the player's vril. The two lanes never share verbs, credit, or UI.

separate lane with its own care register.

verb is about land and water.

own ruling in the room, never assigned by a spawn table or a registry default.

9.5 The devil's-advocate pass, run in both directions

SAFE? Partly yes, and the corrective is HL_0080's riders carried forward verbatim: action-forward,

vril-taxing, real pressure, dodge and parry, never the chapter's sole combat layer. Under the

supersession the Hollow is now FOUGHT, so the risk is no longer the static perceive-and-wait

puzzle — it is the opposite risk, that the fight becomes generic.

default. (a) "No Hollow may ever afflict a real living community" would gut the lane and is wrong

— communities in this game suffer real historical extraction and the game says so; the rule is

about FRAMING, not exclusion. (b) "No absorb path in a real-culture region" is likewise wrong —

the evil path is core, the harvest is the mature register Josh steered toward, and the cost should

be SEEN rather than merely scored.

adversarially: blanking an unauthorized region_id removes no content, defangs nothing and adds no

care tier — that is a provenance repair and it stands. But the colonial-posture ARGUMENT that was

leading it would, taken at face value, have closed the most thematically apt Hollow placement in

the game, which IS inflation by this repo's calibration. The rationale is corrected at 9.2, the

action is unchanged, and the region stays open to deliberate authoring. Recording both halves,

because "the action was right for a reason that was wrong" is exactly the finding a later reader

needs and exactly the one a tidy record loses.

right by a player who took from it, with no NPC able to see either, and no scorecard to judge it —

is precisely the mature register the content bar asks for. It MUST NOT be softened in the

supersession pass, and any later agent that finds it uncomfortable should read that discomfort as

the design working.

shapes) rather than removing any. It is the golden-standard mandate applied, not the timid option.

the expansion adds, and the paternalism is invisible from inside the design because the player is

the hero of it. The five rules at 9.1 are the whole defence, and they are STYLE rules, which

degrade — so they belong in the class row and the critic rubric, not in prose. And the visibility

law is double-edged: "they cannot see it and you can" is excellent horror and, uncarefully written,

"the locals do not understand their own world." The corrective is that their testimony is ACCURATE

and load-bearing and only the CAUSE is outside perception — universally, not locally.

9.6 The art-layer care and reveal hazard

into your own face; the Hollow is a shape that wears a face that is not its own. Exact structural

negatives. The absorb path puts the PROTAGONIST'S OWN BODY on the Hollow side of that inversion,

in the exact chapters running up to the reveal.

Corr leak, who-frame single-agent forms and thread mislabels; check_grand_sage_silence.py scans

voice rows, scene bindings and the two endgame chapter files. Neither scans a concept board, a

material, a silhouette or a staging note — and HL_0044's foreshadow ban explicitly covers art

direction and environmental storytelling.

TRANSFORMATION RENDERS AS SUBTRACTION, NEVER AS SUBSTITUTION. She loses light, colour, warmth and

definition — the §7.1 corrosive register carried to its floor. She never gains a borrowed face,

never wrong anatomy, never a flicker of another shape inside her outline. This keeps the rhyme the

player feels and closes the leak, because nothing on her body teaches the grammar "a shape can be

filled by something that is not it," which is precisely the reveal's grammar. For the same reason

the WORN-SHAPE ability candidate (a false-form or impersonation power, the mechanical inversion of

the Ch-6 False Naga) is DROPPED.

the six art-layer reveal rules — they are currently not named as reveal-relevant assets anywhere,

and that is the concrete gap. And if the wave ever wants the wearing-a-face register on the

protagonist's body, that IS an HL_0044 art-direction touch and returns to Josh as a brief rather

than being applied.

10. CONTRADICTIONS, NAMED

C-1. The enterable rift changes the ONTOLOGICAL CATEGORY of the noun

WHY there is no interior canon: an event has no inside. Axis 2 does not fill a gap; it changes what

the noun IS. That is the honest framing this record owes Josh.

doc saying there is none; "rift interior" returns ten, all in 2026-07-27 analysis docs saying the

same; "within the rift" returns one and it is a MEMBRANE beat; "rift-space", "rift space" and

"other side of the rift" return zero; and all seventeen hits of "through the rift" are CROSSINGS,

never occupancy. Two independent analyses grade the blank DOCTRINAL rather than neglectful.

rift, but the WOUND a rift left — a collapsed pocket where the pressure differential has not

equalized, anchored to a real Earth location. It preserves the event-not-place physics exactly,

leaves the no-controlled-rift invariant untouched (you cannot open one, only find where one WAS),

needs no new metaphysics because negative-vril pooling in a vacated substrate-gap is already the

Hollow's own defined physics, makes the rift dungeon and the Hollow the SAME phenomenon at two

scales (which is what Josh's "those rifts can even be dungeons" actually says), keeps §17.1

exposure at zero, and explains the visibility law for free. R-B the threshold-corridor reading

(makes the corridor a Vimana competitor and collides with the ruled Ch 67-69 threshold traversal).

R-C the full interior mint (maximum freedom, maximum canon cost — it changes what a rift IS, and a

rift's nature is the mechanism of the Prologue death, the Ch-1 fall, the Ch-58 climax and the

seventh-sitting vril-gravity law; not recommended without its own brief). R-D avoid the noun and

site all dungeons in the already-licensed HL_0005 space (zero canon cost, discards the

distinctiveness, does not serve axis 1 at all).

ENTRANCES, so authored stat-upgrade dungeons sit at ruins, tombs and megalith sites already in

T0_Vril_Site_Registry and pop-ups instantiate as membrane-pockets in the open world. The two

compose cleanly and neither touches the no-controlled-rift invariant.

C-2. B1 and B4 disagree about whether the player walks INTO a rift

antagonist family's canonical decades-of-research FAILURE (Ch 46 Area 51, Ch 54 Atacama, Ch 56

Arctic, Ch 58 Antarctica — none of it produces the controlled rift the family seeks) and the Ch-58

climax that the protagonist's Phase-3 stabilization closes.

CHOOSES TO WALK INTO is the single most loaded door in the early game," and separately promotes

"rift" to the player-facing noun.

ontology is the membrane-pocket (the wound). If R-A is adopted, B4's slice hook survives verbatim

in the player's language while B1's invariant survives in the fiction. If R-C were adopted instead,

B1's F-3 becomes live and the Ch-58 climax deflates. NAMED, not smoothed. DIRECTOR RULING D-2 —

the first form sent this to Josh, and the adversarial pass found the escalation over-scoped: Josh

ruled the direction in the eighth-sitting verbatim ("those rifts can even be dungeons like the

legend of zelda breath of the wild"), so picking the reading that honours it without contradicting

the event-not-place physics, the no-controlled-rift invariant or the Ch-58 climax is EXECUTION.

R-A primary with R-D as the entrance grammar, the reading recorded in T1_Vril as living source,

the Ch-58 deflation risk carried as the evidence trail, and no blocking flag. Escalate only if

authoring surfaces a real contradiction.

C-3. WS_029 is the wrong key in NINE places, INCLUDING the ruling block itself

is live at WS_039 hollow_containment_fork_last. Both read directly from the 46-row registry.

header said ten and then listed nine; the corrected census is this one): HOLLOW_ADMISSION_BRIEF

L113/L140/L261, HOLLOW_REVEAL_ARCHITECTURE L61/L186/L204, HOLLOW_CANON_CONTEXT §3.7 (L328),

WS7_WIRING_BUILD_PLAN L390, and DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH L114 — the ruling block's own axis-7

sentence, "a worldstate variable, WS_029's neighbor."

ws_value_form_sweep.md L81 maps WS_029 CORRECTLY to trade_sovereignty_valence — a token-level

sweep would corrupt a correct line. And WS7_WIRING_BUILD_PLAN L230 carries WS_029 as a DIFFERENT

seed (dwelling_home_ledger) that collides with the live registry for base-building reasons

unrelated to the Hollow — a token-level sweep would MIS-REPAIR it into the Hollow key. That

collision is a separate non-Hollow defect and is recorded as such (C-15), not folded into this

wave. The sweep is scoped at X-3 accordingly.

the Hollow fork key, which is WS_039. It sits inside a ruling record, so it should be repaired at

DIRECTOR level, not by an agent (the subagent-classifier lesson applies).

C-4. The CONTAIN_BLIGHT "landed controlled vocabulary" claim is FALSE

landed controlled vocabulary." The COLUMNS are landed (ontology_class, collect_verb,

dex_completion_class at positions 42-44 of T0_Creature_Roster, 150 rows). The VALUES are not: live

ontology_class is 131 empty plus 19 ORDINARY_FAUNA; collect_verb is 149 empty plus 1 DOCUMENT;

dex_completion_class is 149 empty plus 1 OBSERVATION_CHAIN. In T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry

ontology_class is 279 empty plus 2 CONSTRUCT and collect_verb is 279 empty plus 2 FIGHT.

C-5. The whisper tier being FOUGHT is a derived call, not Josh's words

whisper tier is fought. B2 derives it from the supersession plus the valleys-never-boring rider

(an encounter the player can only stand and watch is a defect rather than a mood) and from the

ledger line (the tiers differ in who counts the result, not in verb). It is recorded here as a

DERIVATION so the director can overrule it in one column if he reads the ruling more narrowly.

C-6. Whether ABSORB counts toward the meter is a genuine fork

dead-ends. The alternative — absorb counts, the meter is path-neutral, no revisit tax — is

defensible on accessibility grounds and costs one column. It changes what the meter MEANS, so it

is surfaced deliberately rather than buried. Director ruling D-1.

C-7. Two different "worn shapes" that an unwary agent will conflate

zero species proliferation. It is KEPT and is the class's own canon (FU.1).

(section 9.6). Different objects. State the disambiguation in the class row so the two are never

merged.

C-8. A genuine ACTIVE-versus-ACTIVE doc conflict on the Vril Sight gate

Outer Order. T1_Ability_Tree L896 gates the NAMED ability Vril Sight at Tier 2 Zelator plus Ch 15

Egypt activation. Both are ACTIVE.

spine already runs explicitly in CH_02, CH_03, CH_04 and CH_10), and the Ch-15 clause governs the

ABILITY ROW and its Crown-device event. Consistent with every spine chapter and with HL_0028 — but

it is an INTERPRETATION of two docs that do not perfectly agree, and it must be RECORDED IN THE

LIVING SOURCE rather than left for the next agent to re-derive.

C-9. HL_0020 carries a stale chapter number

agrees (CH_74 = Yggdrasil, the World-Tree Crossing; CH_76 = The Two Courts; CH_77.md L13/L20

"Cassius named and resolved" at Ch 76). T1 outranks T0. The RULE is unaffected and binds either

way; the number is a repo defect on a hard-line row. Brief JB-4.

C-10. Three of the admission brief's ten class-definition clauses have changed

clause is dead on the absorb path, and NEVER GATES is re-scoped to whisper only. The remaining

seven survive. This is a larger change than the ruling block's three supersession bullets make it

look, and the supersession pass must not treat the class definition as mostly intact.

C-11. The stat-upgrade budget arithmetic has not been computed, and it closes on TWO bars of three

stack at five bars, but describes the Stamina or Rage swap lane as "a single bar that scales

numerically with no visual stacking" and sets NO ceiling on it. The first form of this record

called the budget CLOSED across all three and named it the wave's sharpest constraint; that

overstates it. The bounded currency is TWELVE units at five pieces each, roughly forty percent of

them on the exploration channel; the swap lane is an OPEN-ENDED SINK.

is fixed by that twelve-unit arithmetic and the 60/40 split, and exceeding it either exhausts the

currency or breaks the split. Dungeons beyond that count are not forbidden — they must route their

reward to the swap lane or to a non-stat reward class, and that routing is a DESIGN decision to

make deliberately rather than a residue to discover.

both depend on it. Compute BEFORE authoring, not after. Worklist X-2.

C-12. Axis 8 is essentially uncovered

and B4 do not reach it. It is the largest coverage gap in the wave.

C-13. Stale flags and stubs found in passing

exploration — NEW. No canon establishes heart-container / stamina-vessel growth for the non-vril

bars. FLAG for Josh." RESOLVED by the 2026-07-14 Section-5 ratification now live in

T1_Combat_System_Spec L61/L63. Retire it in place; leaving it standing is exactly the

stale-reference class that makes later agents hallucinate an open question.

Personal Dimension's real content lives in T1_Ability_Tree L932 (Dimension Pocket) and

T1_Architecture_and_State L446. Any Tier-A instancing precedent work reads those two, NOT the stub,

and must not report the Personal Dimension as undesigned.

homes for axis-2 content and both are effectively empty. DESIGNED-UNBUILT, not missing.

C-14. T1_Vril L225 carries three RETIRED realm names — a separate repo defect

document's own drift log records the v2.1 canonical-name lock to POHLJAR, TIAMARATH and

MAATHERION. The CLAUSE is correct and load-bearing for axis 8; the three NAMES in it are stale.

must not propagate the retired names. Consequence beyond it: this is the stale-reference class

that makes later agents hallucinate, and it is flagged as its own defect rather than repaired

here, since it sits in an ACTIVE T1 doc outside the Hollow lane.

C-15. WS7_WIRING_BUILD_PLAN L230 seeds WS_029 as dwelling_home_ledger — NOT a Hollow defect

against a live registry row that reads trade_sovereignty_valence. It is a real defect and it is

NOT this wave's. It is named so the Hollow sweep excludes it (X-3) and so a later reader does not

find it, assume the Hollow sweep missed a site, and "repair" it into hollow_containment_fork_last.

11. THE RANKED WORKLIST

11.1 (a) NEEDS JOSH — full decision briefs per the standing protocol

Each is written up as alternatives plus deep-dive plus adversarial pass plus a RECOMMENDATION plus

the strongest objection. None is surfaced as a bare question.

TWO ESCALATION CORRECTIONS RIDE THIS LIST, both from the adversarial pass, and they move in opposite

directions. The HL_0080 scope ambiguity was UNDER-escalated (self-closed by the loop) and is now

JB-1. The rift ontology was OVER-escalated (returned to Josh on a direction he had already ruled)

and is now director ruling D-2. The list is renumbered accordingly and the mapping is stated in the

provenance block at the head.

✅ THE ENTIRE JB SET WAS RULED BY JOSH AT THE NINTH SITTING (2026-07-27) — verbatims and applied

interpretations in docs/spine/DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH.md ninth-sitting block. Outcomes: JB-1 the

hard line is REMOVED for the Hollow class (beyond option ii — Hollows are DEFEATED; the

encounter-design mandate lands: puzzle-forward-with-combat ↔ action-forward-with-a-trick, open

palette; find the cause → enter the rift → clear contamination + Hollow; X-9 UNBLOCKED). JB-2

the meter counts authored + easter-egg rifts (never gating) + affliction cleansing; excludes

event/random rifts; the NO-LOCKOUT LAW binds (D-1 confirmed). JB-3 rename BOTH epithets via the

natural-voice pass (five-row set, one pass). JB-4 confirmed-applied (five rows derived + cited).

JB-5 confirmed + the integrity-visible law reaffirmed (softer/warmer vs sharper/colder,

composing with subtraction). JB-6 "rift" promoted. The entries below stand as the decision

record; read them WITH the rulings above.

live row carries "Cannot be defeated through damage" and a scope clause governing "the

Hollow-adjacent CONTAIN-verb class." Alternatives: (i) READ 1, "Hollow-adjacent" excludes the

Hollow, no amendment needed, the fought tier proceeds — the first form's reading, and it rests on

a proposal-tier claim (FU.1's half-formed body) narrowing a canonical row, which is not a move

proposal tier gets to make; (ii) READ 2, the phrase names the governed class BY its adjacency, so

a fought Hollow contradicts the damage clause and HL_0080 takes a five-word scope edit naming the

fought tier as outside the non-damage protocol; (iii) leave the row alone and route around it by

never giving Hollow encounters a CONTAIN-verb value — which costs the vocabulary its accuracy and

is the worst of the three. RECOMMENDATION: (ii) if Josh reads his own row as governing the Hollow

family, (i) if he reads it as naming a neighbour; either way the wave proceeds unchanged, because

nothing in the tier boundary, the four-phase grammar or the fork depends on which. STRONGEST

OBJECTION: this spends a hard-line touch on a clarification the routing note at section 2.6 could

arguably carry for free — answered by the fact that the mint at X-9 puts BLIGHT and CONTAIN_BLIGHT

into exactly the vocabulary space the scope clause names, so the ambiguity would be hardened into

the registries rather than left in prose. WHY IT IS JOSH'S: it is a canonical hard-line row, and

the eighth-sitting ruling block's own language returns hard-line touches as briefs. BLOCKS: X-9,

and any BE_ row carrying CONTAIN_BLIGHT.

completionist claim to "100% completion on rift cleansing"; this record's content tier also

carries the affliction and realm-traversal lanes, which write the same kind of result.

Alternatives: (i) ONE LEDGER WITH A RIFT SUB-AXIS — the rift pair is Josh's literal 100 percent

and sits inside a broader content completion ledger the other lanes also write (recommended);

(ii) NARROW — only rift cleansing writes the meter, and the affliction and realm lanes track

through WS_019 and WS_024 with no completionist surface of their own; (iii) BROAD — everything

content-tier writes one undifferentiated meter, which is what the first form of this record

implied and which silently widens a ruled scope. RECOMMENDATION: (i), with ledger_axis carried as

a column from the first schema pass so a narrow ruling is a filter and never a save migration.

STRONGEST OBJECTION: (i) hands the player two numbers where Josh described one — answered by the

fact that the player sees ONE completionist figure and the axis split is a registry and gating

detail. WHY IT IS JOSH'S: it is his own scope word on his own ruling, and the loop does not widen

a ruled scope by inference. Cheap to answer; may ride alongside the other landings.

main boss and a proper-noun "Hollow" on the loudest early player surface. THE FULL SURFACE SET,

corrected: the epithet lives in T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry row 2, build/spine_rows/CH_02/boss.csv

AND registries/T0_Chapter_Index [ACTIVE v1.2]; "the Hollow Retainer" (BE_0060_S1, Ch 60) lives in

both build/spine_rows/CH_60/beats.csv and build/spine_rows/CH_60/boss.csv. Five rows across five

files, not two. Alternatives: keep both (the ambient field is 275 lines across 96 files and one

epithet does not spend it), rename both, or keep the Ch-2 epithet and rename the Ch-60 one.

RECOMMENDATION goes in the brief with the natural-voice pass's own read attached. STRONGEST

OBJECTION on any rename: it edits the game's first boss name for a reveal the player has not

reached. BLOCKING: the natural-voice rewrite pass must not independently keep or move either

epithet, and any rename applies to the full five-row set in one pass or it half-lands.

hierarchy already resolves the CONTENT (T1 outranks T0, the live tree agrees), so this is a grounded

error-correction and not an open question — but it edits a canonical hard-line ROW, and the

eighth-sitting ruling's own language says any hard-line touch returns as a brief. Presented so the

ambiguity is Josh's to close rather than an agent's to assume. RECOMMENDATION: apply the correction

with the evidence in the commit. Note: the admission brief's appended repair note lists five

hard-line rows carrying stale Ch-74 endgame numbering, so this brief should cover the whole set.

PROTAGONIST'S OWN BODY. An HL_0044 art-direction touch. RECOMMENDATION: do not want it; render the

hollow transformation as SUBTRACTION, never SUBSTITUTION (section 9.6). Listed so the refusal is on

the record and a later wave that wants it knows it returns as a brief rather than being applied.

Naming canon on a player surface, and the one thing in the H-2 stress test the loop is proposing

rather than deriving. Alternatives: promote (recommended), keep rift purely diegetic and name the

activity per-region, or coin a new activity word. RECOMMENDATION: promote, with the

community-vocabulary policy written and enrolled in the same landing, and with HL_0043 (no thesis

declaration in marketing copy) CITED in the brief so the clearance is recorded rather than assumed

— "rift" carries zero cassus load and passes the test, and writing that down is what keeps a later

season from promoting a heavier noun by precedent. STRONGEST OBJECTION: it hands the community a

system word, and a system word is what the design deliberately withheld — answered by the fact

that "rift" names the DOOR and carries zero cassus load, so the folklore generator survives intact

on the being. Carries the disclosed perpetual live-ops authoring cost. May ride alongside the

wave's other landings rather than standing alone.

D-RR.5 plus the locked 13-row T0_School_Registry — record the refusal with BOTH grounds); THE RIFT

ONTOLOGY (Josh ruled the direction; it is director ruling D-2, not a brief); the whisper cap

NUMBER and the per-surface density numbers (tuning, set once the content denominator is known);

the dungeon-grade rarity axis (a declared schema mint, director-applied). An HL_0080 AMENDMENT is

NO LONGER on this list — the first form put it here, and the adversarial pass found the closure

unsafe; it is JB-1.

11.2 (b) EXECUTION ITEMS, ranked, with owners

Owner key: DIRECTOR = the Fable 5 session (canon-sensitive edits, ruling records, contested

adjudication, landings). OPUS = a fan-out agent at the top Opus tier, model set explicitly. SCRIPT =

a deterministic transform. HARNESS = a gate or tooth.

METER. Node state becomes ABSORBED — the place stays drained, the region's vril does not rise,

and the node remains RE-CLEANSABLE later (no dead-end; 100% reachable on every path at a revisit

cost, never a lockout). The meter measures the WORLD, which is Josh's axis-1 premise verbatim

(cleansing strengthens world vril potency); the alternative collapses it into a kill counter.

§3.3's recommendation adopted as written, per the standing delegation (creative-within-vision,

deep-dived + adversarially passed). Reversible by Josh at any time — one column.

landing): R-A THE MEMBRANE-POCKET READING is the primary rift-dungeon ontology (a rift dungeon

is a pocket held open AT the membrane — the player is never "inside the rift," preserving the

membrane-only canon and the Ch-58 climax's singularity), with R-D (the already-licensed HL_0005

ruin, tomb and megalith space) as the ENTRANCE placement grammar. The T1_Vril living-source

recording rides the supersession pass (X-lane) with its scan-baseline re-emit. The four

steelmanned options + the Ch-58 deflation risk stand as the evidence trail. Escalates to Josh

only if authoring surfaces a real contradiction.

DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH L114. Director-level because it edits a ruling record.

ruling below): TWENTY bounded dungeons, not ten, under Josh's leveling-model correction —

"the leveling progresion doesn't increase bars, it increases how much each bar is worth and

there are plenty of stats to raise." Capacity COUNT growth is exploration-sourced entirely

(the 60/40 re-reads as power-growth attribution: value-scaling from levels ~60%, count growth

from the found world ~40%); the full fifty-piece capacity economy lives in the found world;

rifts take TWENTY (ten Vril + ten Health — the rift ladder is worth exactly TWO full layers

and TWO full bars), the other thirty carried by agility-course puzzle variants, achievements,

and world secrets. T1_Combat_System_Spec L63 amended in place with the verbatim. Everything

else in the director ruling below STANDS: the granularity lock (one dungeon = one piece), the

routing rule and its priority order, the universal meter-credit invariant, the three teeth,

and the reward_class schema rider. The ten-based arithmetic below is the historical record.

scratchpad xlane_X2_budget.md, to be archived with the next provenance batch). THE CORRECTION

ADOPTED: a cap is a TOTAL not an allowance — the player necessarily starts with one vril layer

and one health bar (playability + the Ch-2 Cloaking cost; positive-controlled absence of any

zero-start canon), so growth headroom is TEN bounded units (fifty pieces), not twelve. NUMBER

ONE: TEN authored rift dungeons across the arc may grant a bounded piece (50 pieces × 40%

exploration channel × 50% rift share ÷ 1 piece per dungeon — the GRANULARITY LOCK binds: one

dungeon grants one PIECE, never a full unit; the fifths quantum composes across sites per the

heart-piece register Josh himself named). INTERNAL SPLIT: five vril + five health — the rift

ladder is worth exactly one full bubble layer and one full health bar, a legible player

promise. NUMBER TWO, the routing rule for every authored dungeon beyond the ten: FIRST the

uncapped Stamina/Rage swap lane (Josh named stamina verbatim), SECOND the rarity lane

(T0_Rarity_Grade ladder under §17.13 sigma, gate 27 policing), THIRD meter-credit-and-the-

record. THE UNIVERSAL INVARIANT: every authored dungeon grants meter credit per JB-2

regardless of stat lane. THE THREE TEETH: the bounded ten are authored-as-such (a

reward_class of BOUNDED_VRIL / BOUNDED_HEALTH / SWAP_LANE / RARITY_ONLY on the dungeon's own

row — a schema rider for the dungeon registry when it mints); pop-ups NEVER draw the bounded

pot; easter-egg rifts count the meter but never carry a bounded piece (the no-lockout law).

TUNABLES held proposal-tier for the balance audit (flagged derivations, not ruled): the 50%

rift share of the exploration channel (equal-thirds prior + the puzzle-half claim) and the

5/5-vs-6/4 split. If canon ever declares a zero-start, number one becomes twelve — recorded,

not expected.

bare token — and the "any hit the sweep finds" clause the first form carried is WITHDRAWN as

dangerous. TWO EXPLICIT EXCLUSIONS, both verified live: docs/ws_value_form_sweep.md L81, where

WS_029 correctly maps to trade_sovereignty_valence and a token sweep would CORRUPT a correct line;

and docs/proposals/systems/WS7_WIRING_BUILD_PLAN.md L230, a DIFFERENT seed (dwelling_home_ledger)

whose collision with the live registry is a base-building defect unrelated to the Hollow, recorded

it takes the fresh-context critic before landing.

STRING KEYS (section 7.4, exposure 1) added to the scope — post-reveal ability titles must not sit

in shipped string data before Ch 76, they arrive as a gated runtime overlay, and the rubric must

name the datamine surface because no prose critic reaches a string table.

12. POSITIVE-CONTROL LEDGER

Every zero or absence claim in this record, with the control that proves the searcher could match.

registries/T0_Worldstate_Variables [ACTIVE v0.1]/Sheet1.csv in one command: WS_029 =

trade_sovereignty_valence (object, base-building runtime state); WS_039 =

hollow_containment_fork_last (enum, creature-husbandry runtime state). Control: the same command

returned WS_003, WS_019, WS_023 and WS_024 rows, and the file carries 46 WS_ rows. Both keys

match; the citation is genuinely stale.

registries directory MATCHES in T0_Hard_Lines and T0_Hollow_Codex, so the searcher can match the

substring inside registry files; grep -F "CONTAIN_BLIGHT" returns ZERO registry hits and, AS OF

this sitting's close, FIVE doc hits (three when the synthesis ran, five once this sitting's own

briefs landed — the doc figure is an AS-OF count and rises as the wave writes, while the registry

ZERO is the load-bearing half and was independently re-run by the adversarial pass). The census

figures (ontology_class 131 empty plus 19 ORDINARY_FAUNA; collect_verb 149 empty

plus 1 DOCUMENT; boss registry 279 empty plus 2 CONSTRUCT and 279 empty plus 2 FIGHT) were read

off the live columns.

those matching controls in the same command.

in the same four files returns 17, 20, 21 and 28 lines as of the adversarial re-run (the synthesis

recorded 16, 19, 20, 28 — a one-line drift on three of four files; phrase controls are AS-OF

figures, never fixed constants). A TRAP WORTH THE LEDGER: those files are .csv and not .md, so a

searcher globbing *.md returns a FALSE ZERO on this exact claim. That is the

a-search-that-cannot-match class, caught here by the control rather than by luck.

matching lines: 275 lines across 96 files whole-tree, 211 lines across 83 files excluding this

session's own pipeline_review briefs and the decisions doc. Control on the identical command

(Personal_Dimension, UI_UX, Audio) all return 2, and the doc's described content was LOCATED

elsewhere by grep (T1_Ability_Tree L932, T1_Architecture_and_State L446) before the emptiness was

asserted.

backslash-underscore and bold as double-asterisk; an unescaped regex on a schema-dictionary field

name returned a FALSE zero on the first pass of dive B3. Every schema-dictionary search in this

wave used grep -F with the escaped form. Control: grep -F on the escaped forms returns 2 and 1

hits respectively on the same file where the unescaped forms return 0.

for the "never fought" sweep: the pattern matched 60-plus lines across the tree INCLUDING many

unrelated honored-adversary rows (Arawn, the Silent Euskaldun, the Schwester, the mokele-mbembe

refusal, Altiplano fauna), which is why section 4 is scoped to the Hollow docs by path rather than

by pattern alone — a whole-tree pattern edit here would have damaged nine unrelated care rulings.
