Purpose: the minimal set of books worth buying, given that in Claude Code most
secondary/survey/comparative information can be obtained via agent deep-dives +
adversarial-review synthesis. Built 2026-06-29 from T0_Research_Corpus_Registry
via a per-range classification workflow (book-acquisition-classify).
This cuts the 922 "needed" rows to ~158 purchases without compromising the deepest layer.
Ruling (Josh, 2026-07-03) — online-first, buy+scan LAST: even within MUST-ACQUIRE, before any
purchase first verify whether the full data/images are legitimately obtainable online (publisher
digital editions, archive.org / HathiTrust / institutional open access, library e-lending, the
author's own deposits). Physical purchase + manual scanning is the last resort, reserved for texts
whose apparatus/plates genuinely exist nowhere digital. Goal: minimize purchase cost AND Josh's
scanning labor. The per-title availability check is a Phase-0 pipeline task (docs/ROADMAP.md).
