Honest tier: PERSONA COMPILATION — TEXT ONLY, NO SURFACE BUILT. This is the second companion-class

instance of the thirteen-field persona spine and the first ship-keeper instance

[SRC: ENTITY_PERSONA_SYSTEM # The common persona spine]. No persona doc set exists yet,

T0_Persona_Index is unminted, and this document proposes a row shape rather than a row

[SRC: ENTITY_PERSONA_SYSTEM # The new structure]. It generates no images, dispatches no plate

program, builds no vessel geometry, and authors no dialogue line. Her visual chain does not exist

anywhere in the corpus, which is finding F-9 rather than a deliverable of this lane.

PRONOUN NOTE, declared so no consumer imports the wrong convention from the exemplar. This document

says "she" and that is CANON, not a designer-side reading convenience. Her gender is authored: her

registry role reads swahili_dhow_captain_rare_female_captain_historical_tradition_trade_10_home_base_teacher

[SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056], and the spine names her "a rare female captain of the

historical tradition" [SRC: CH_08 # Key ally NPCs]. The pronoun-free discipline that binds every

surface derived from PERSONA_EXEMPLAR_CHAR_0002 is specific to CHAR_0002's player-seeded gender

[SRC: PERSONA_EXEMPLAR_CHAR_0002 # The band law] and does NOT travel to this persona. A consumer

baking both context packs must keep the two rules apart.

Citation form, declared on the face. Every citation here is either an insertion-invariant

doc-and-heading-fragment anchor or a registry row-key anchor, in the two SRC forms

harness/check_source_anchors.py proves. This document deliberately carries ZERO line-range

citations: a new line-range pointer hard-fails gate 46 line_citations tooth C5 unless

docs/line_citation_baseline.json is re-emitted in the same commit, and that baseline is a shared

file this lane is forbidden to touch. Where a claim rests on a build/ file, which the anchor index

does not cover, the path is named in plain prose instead — this document has no such claim, because

no build/ artifact for CHAR_0056 exists.

NOT DERIVED (authored judgment, and why it had no canon home):

• The four-band structure of this document (the Ch-8 coast band, the aboard span, the Ch-65 lock, the

Epilogue hearth) and its per-band reveal gates. The thirteen-field spine carries care_band and

layer_surfacing and no reveal field at all, so a companion with a held antagonist context has no

schema slot in which to say what is perceivable when. The banding is the mandate's instruction and

the schema hole is carried as finding F-6, the same hole the exemplar filed.

• The eleven ambient and idle entries at §4.1 and the aboard-versus-inland mode vocabulary at §4.3.

The behavioral completeness law requires a motion vocabulary and an ambient set per entity and

names none for her; every entry below derives from a stated canon trait, a rowed craft detail, or a

staged beat, and each names its derivation inline.

• The reading that her BAND-A watching is a NOT-LOOKING rather than an absence of looking — that the

ally-who-knows behavior is an authored discipline of the eye and not a blank. Canon states she

"never asks about the cloth kept wound over the ears" [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph]; that she also does

not look is this document's inference from the same beat's reveal: HELD(... kept wordless) field,

and it is separable from the cited half.

• The proposed six-option reaction shapes at §3.14 and the proposed social-standing-read entry at

§4.2. The faculty they ride on is cited; the per-option shapes are proposal-tier.

• The wording of the proposed T0_Persona_Index cell values at §8. The column contract is canon-side;

the values are this document's proposal and are marked PROPOSED throughout.

ROUTING NOTE (contract clause 2). persona is not a listed work kind in harness/route.py, so no

route read-set exists to run and none was substituted. The canon nodes read in place of one are the

ones enumerated above, read in the order the mandate set: the persona system, then the exemplar, then

the companion cast designs and the D-CAST ruling, then her registry row, then the T3 character canon,

then §8.11 in full, then CH_08 in full and every node the contradiction grep surfaced, then the

Swahili Coast region page. Adding persona to route.py is finding F-7, carried forward from the

exemplar unchanged.

ARTIFACT-ENROLMENT NOTE (contract clause 5). This artifact kind is not enrolled in

docs/canon_derivation.json, so there is no machine coverage key for this declaration to also land

in. The declaration above is the whole of it. Enrolment of the persona kind is finding F-8, carried

forward from the exemplar unchanged.

CONTESTED-CANON NOTE, stated before any field is read. Her chapter window is under an unreconciled

registry-versus-spine conflict that this document does not resolve and may not resolve. The registry

reads chapters_present Ch_08-Ch_65_ship_keeper_aboard;Epilogue_hearth

[SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056]; thirteen spine surfaces read a come-and-go recurring captain

who is explicitly not aboard. Every field below that depends on the window says which reading it is

written under, and §9 is the decision brief. A consumer who reads this persona without §9 will bake

one side of a live conflict into a context pack.

1. The band law — what may be perceived, and when

Four bands. The band boundary is a hard authoring wall in both directions: nothing in an earlier band

may carry a later band's fact onto a player-facing surface, and nothing in a later band may

retro-import an earlier band's ignorance once the chapter has closed it.

• BAND A — Ch 8, the Swahili Coast. The whole of her authored, staged, uncontested presence. She is

a person met, worked beside, and left. Everything the player can perceive of her at first contact

is here.

• BAND B — the aboard span, Ch 9 through Ch 65. CONTESTED. The registry says ship-keeper aboard; the

spine says accounted-for and not aboard, with ally-status-conditional passages. Written below under

both readings, marked.

• BAND C — Ch 65, the lock. The D-CAST card's own terms: "shed at the lock (the mothership cannot

enter the realms)" [SRC: DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH # D-CAST]. Unbuilt at the node: CH_65's end-state

companion roster names the healer's child, Ana and the accreted found-family and does not name her

[SRC: CH_65 # End-state carry-forward].

• BAND D — the Epilogue hearth. Her registry window's terminal token, Epilogue_hearth

[SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056]. Also unbuilt: CH_EPILOGUE's companion roster carries the

found-family per the Ch-65 resolution and names no CHAR_0056

[SRC: CH_EPILOGUE # End-state carry-forward].

1.1 Per-band reveal gates

BAND A must never disclose:

• The House of Velheim by name, family or pattern. The ruled Q1 handling binds the whole node: the

name is not announced and the player is not made aware of the pattern, and Cassius Velheim does not

appear [SRC: CH_08 # Decisions surfaced] [SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0043]. She is UNAWARE and stays

so; her contracts served Abdallah and she perceives a merchant, never a network.

• Any vril reading. Her seeing is ordinary seeing, and the chapter's own reveal field says so —

"the captain sees truly and does not hunt ... ordinary seeing, no vril read"

[SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph]. The substrate-perception floor forbids it independently

[SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0028]. The wayfinding-through-ocean-consciousness substrate her registry

cell carries [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056] is a cultural-perceptual worldview taught as a

trade [SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Trade 10 Fishing and Navigation], never a signature read.

• The Sealed Letter's content. Three implications surface at Ch 8 and the full content is held to

Ch 38 [SRC: CH_08 # Decisions surfaced]. She is not present at the reading beat — its actor set is

the protagonist and Scholar Amara [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph] — and she never refers to it.

• That the freight she ran was people, before the hold beat stages it. The cargo-in-ignorance fact is

hers and canonical [SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan], and it is the chapter's

elevated-care fulcrum at FORK_CH08_A [SRC: CH_08 # Fork graph]. A Band-A line that has her already

knowing has spent the chapter's own reveal.

• Anything of Bands B, C or D — the ship lineage's future, the Ch 33-35 waters, the Ch-65 lock, the

Epilogue hearth. None of it is perceivable to her or to the player at Ch 8.

BAND B must never disclose the lock or the hearth. A crew-member who behaves as though she knows the

span ends has been given the arc's shape, and the arc's shape is the player's to discover.

BAND C must never disclose the hearth. The shed is a loss at the moment it happens; the Epilogue is

the answer to it and arrives later or not at all.

BAND D must leak nothing to any earlier register, and this is the strictest of the four gates because

it is the only one an author will violate by accident. The hearth is the payoff of a whole arc's

relationship. No Ch-8 line, no aboard-span bark, no Ch-65 parting line may prefigure it, foreshadow

it, or promise it. Concretely: she never says she will be there at the end, never names a place they

will meet again, and never speaks of a home kept. The chapter that already carries the arc's one

authored leaving-promise is Ch 8, and its promise is about RETURNING TO THE COAST, not about an

ending — "a promise to return kept and something left in return"

[SRC: CH_08 # Mechanical anchors]. That promise is Band A's and pays at the Ch-59 continental

revisit [SRC: CH_08 # Fork graph]; it is not a hearth foreshadow and must not be written as one.

Reading the thirteen fields against Band A, all thirteen are ACTIVE — she is a met, named, voiced

person from her first beat. There is no suppressed-field table for her, and that is the structural

difference between this persona and the exemplar's: Ntala is authored as ten chapters of withheld

presence, Binti Hassan is authored as immediate presence with a withheld CONTEXT. The gates above are

context gates, not identity gates.

2. Band A — the coast, as designable behavior

Every entry realizes a spine or region-page line and states which.

• The crossing and the apprenticeship, the primary loop. The player learns the sewn-plank craft and

the rigging traverse aboard her hull. Realizes CH08_B01's objective — "apprenticed to Nakhoda Binti

Hassan on the sewn-plank mtepe — learn the plank-stitching and the rigging traverse while the

captain never asks about the cloth kept wound over the ears" [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph].

• The not-asking, the character's whole signature. She registers the concealment and asks nothing.

This is the arc's first proof "that to be recognized can also be safe"

[SRC: CH_08 # Body prose], and it is staged as a scene anchor whose hard-line relevance field reads

"the cloth never asked about; a positive recognition, wordless"

[SRC: CH_08 # Dialogue and scene anchors]. Must never disclose: what she thinks the cloth hides.

The chapter keeps it wordless and the persona keeps it wordless.

• The trade rooting. She opens the Trade-10 Fishing and Navigation ancient home base — the mtepe craft

and the kusi and kaskazi monsoon-timing, "the first returnable coastal rootedness"

[SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph]. The curriculum is the region page's and is real technique: the stitched

hull, why stitched (hulls of the period flexed over shallow reefs and sand bars), the rig geometry,

the two anchor types, and the pilot's arithmetic with its own error terms

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content].

• The ocean-web introduction. Her deck and her port are how the player meets the Indian Ocean as a

web rather than a shore — the monsoon trade to Arabia, India and China, the interior gold route,

the Aksumite pointer north [SRC: CH_08 # Everything-woven].

• The leaving. FORK_CH08_B is anchored on her: "what the protagonist does with the captain who took

them in: a promise to return kept and something left in return, the promise left ambiguous, a quiet

parting, or the captain's savings taken and a pre-dawn slip; every option plays through to

Ethiopia, none gating" [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph]. This is the node's one relationship fork and it

is hers.

• The mark she leaves on the player, not the reverse. The durable write is the coast's memory, read

at the Ch-59 Africa continental-revisit, "with Nakhoda Binti Hassan's Ch 9 and Ch 38 sea-crossing

recurrences riding the relationship column" [SRC: CH_08 # Fork graph].

Band-A escalation floor and ceiling. FLOOR, and it is derived rather than stated: across a chapter's

worth of shared deck her register warms from the working economy of a captain with a passenger to the

after-work generosity the region page's office entry names — "economical with words while working and

generous with them afterwards" [SRC: swahili_coast # The nakhoda — the master of a sewn ship].

CEILING, and this half is cited and binding: it never becomes a naming of what she saw. The wordless

recognition is the chapter's own reveal discipline and the leaving fork does not open it

[SRC: CH_08 # Dialogue and scene anchors].

3. The thirteen-field persona

3.1 anchor_ref

her into the core four [SRC: DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH # D-CAST]. The persona owns no fact this row does

not carry or that canon has not authored.

Two cells on this row are measured as defective and are named rather than used. thread_involvement

reads 11.0, which resolves to the trickster thread; Ch 8's own thread set is Threads 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,

8, 13, 17, 20 and 22 and contains no Thread 11 [SRC: CH_08 # Threads advancing], while the beat that

stages her tags THREAD_13 [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph] and the vehicle rowed from her craft carries

T13 [SRC: T0_Vehicle_Registry @ VH_004]. The comparison rows on the same node are correct —

CHAR_0055 reads 3.0 for the antagonist thread and CHAR_0060 reads 2.0 for the serpent thread

[SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0055] [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0060] — so the column is a

thread number and hers is the wrong one. This is finding F-5. is_load_bearing false sits against

a ratified core-four member whose ship is the travel system's origin, which is finding F-4.

3.2 identity

Nakhoda Binti Hassan. Nakhoda is her culture's own term for the master of a sewn ship, and it is the

office the region page describes as a class behind her rather than a descriptor placed on her

[SRC: swahili_coast # The nakhoda — the master of a sewn ship]; using it satisfies the self-naming

requirement and the stereotyped-descriptor prohibition together

[SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0006]. Class: person, companion sub-class, non-vril, a working captain.

Essence, one line: the one who keeps the ship, and knows what she is carrying.

Name status, surfaced and NOT reopened. Her design study records that the name reads as title plus

patronymic rather than a given name and flags a given name for intimate register as a Josh naming

call [SRC: COMPANION_ANCIENT-GUEST-1 # Flags for Josh]. D-CAST ratified the core four and named the

gladiator but did not add a given name for her [SRC: DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH # D-CAST]. Per the

no-re-decide discipline this document neither asks again nor invents one; it authors every address in

this persona as the title plus the patronymic, which is what canon supplies.

3.3 significance_lenses

Drawn from the thirty-three-lens set [SRC: SIGNIFICANCE_LENSES # The complete lens set], using the

group-plus-ordinal convention the exemplar established.

• PRIMARY — B1, commerce and exchange networks. The lens's own worked example is her chapter: "the

Indian Ocean monsoon-dhow trade (Ch 8 Swahili coast as an entrepot linking Africa, Arabia, India)"

[SRC: SIGNIFICANCE_LENSES # The complete lens set]. She is not a person standing near a trade

network; she is the network's working instrument and the player's door into it.

• B2, craft and material praxis. She is the Trade-10 teacher and the trade's ancient home base roots

under her [SRC: T0_Trade_Registry @ TRADE_10] [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph].

• F4, astronomy and sky-knowledge. The lens explicitly carries celestial navigation and

Navigation-as-cosmology [SRC: SIGNIFICANCE_LENSES # The complete lens set]; the monsoon regime that

"timed a whole ocean's trade" is the chapter's own civilizational mark

[SRC: CH_08 # Civilizational marks].

• D4, colonialism, displacement and cultural trauma. Her freight served the slave route without her

knowing [SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan], which makes her the person the

chapter's elevated-care substrate runs through alongside Rasheed rather than around

[SRC: CH_08 # Fork graph].

• G6, the integrity web. FORK_CH08_B is her fork; the player's integrity is read directly off what

they do to the person who took them in [SRC: CH_08 # Fork graph].

• G8, protagonist-arc and progression significance. She is durable kit and durable idea in one: the

trade home, the returnable bench, and the first ownable hull

3.4 web_position

• Her own ship and crew — FAC_0035, a rowed faction with relationship_type ally-teacher and trade

home, standing_on_arrival Stranger, improved by work

[SRC: T0_Faction_Registry @ FAC_0035]. She is the one companion in the corpus who IS a faction row,

which means she carries a BOND and a STANDING at once and the two must never be merged

[SRC: T1_Integrity_Paths_Worldstates_Master # The Shared Relational Ladder and Companion Loyalty].

• Sayyid Abdallah bin Rashid, CHAR_0055 — the load-bearing edge and the one that gives her an arc.

Her extensions cell records "cargo running for merchant prince done in ignorance of human cargo"

[SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056], and he is the chapter's Tier-A boss and first fully-aware

coast were carvel-built with planks stitched with coconut fibre through bored holes, and they were

designed to flex over shallow reefs and sand bars, which is why a stitched hull beats a nailed one

here [SRC: swahili_coast # Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content]. Her navigation is the kusi

and kaskazi monsoon regime, "a documented naval-engineering and astronomical-seasonal achievement"

[SRC: CH_08 # Civilizational marks]. Her world is not one people but many holding one culture in

common — the definitional line the region page calls its most load-bearing

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 4 — People and Culture].

The one fact that gives her an arc: her freight served the merchant prince, and she did not know what

was in the hold [SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan]. Everything about her moral

position at Ch 8 runs from that. She is not complicit and she is not innocent in the way a bystander

is innocent; she is the person whose honest trade was used, which is the human face of a supply chain

an entire arc before the arc can name what a supply chain is.

The female-nakhoda question, RESOLVED IN CANON and not reopened here. Her design study flagged the

rare-female-captain specificity as a book-processing dependency and offered a reframe to

owner-who-sails [SRC: COMPANION_ANCIENT-GUEST-1 # Culture grounding]. The region page, authored

later, rules against the reframe on its own build note: "the class carries multiple genders on the

historical record, and the named captain is one instance of a real tradition rather than an exception

carries the corroborating attestation on the adjacent office, that men and women both hold the mvyale

religious expertise on Zanzibar [SRC: swahili_coast # Section 12 — All Characters Full Entries]. The

care-doctrine consequence is the anti-timid one and it is the whole point: she is not written as

remarkable-for-a-woman, she is not written as a symbol, and no line of hers explains or defends her

command. She is a captain. The people around her treat her as one because on this coast that is what

she is.

What remains genuinely thin, named as a dependency and never faked. Section 4 of the region page

declares dress, household, gender, kinship and the texture of ordinary life an honest gap pending

Horton and Middleton and Middleton's own volume, neither of which is in the processed corpus

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 16 — Academic References and Books to Acquire]. Her household, her

kin, her dress and her marital situation are therefore NOT authored here. The cast brief carries the

and authenticity, so the honest move is the blank with the acquisition named, not a plausible

invention.

3.6 own_life

The prose account, which stays the authority on what the life means.

Her day is not the sun's, it is the wind's. The record's own frame is a season of sailing and a

season of waiting, with refit and rope-work in between

regime that decides when an ocean opens and when it closes

navigation teaching to crew, evening maghrib prayer and post-meal dhow maintenance"

a persona pass must not smooth them. The cargo verification is where her arc lives — the woman who

The machine projection, against the 5.2.1 column contract

aloud, and at Ch 8 she can say it without yet knowing it has been violated.

• The one the chapter gives her and she does not name: to have been wrong about what she carried, and

to not be wrong twice. Derived from the cargo-in-ignorance fact set against the hold beat

• The craft for its own sake. The trade she teaches is not a job she does, it is a body of knowledge

• Undramatic. Derived from the same entry's reason: "a person whose trade punishes bravado"

[SRC: swahili_coast # The nakhoda — the master of a sewn ship]. She does not perform competence,

she has it.

• Discreet by discipline rather than by temperament. She does not ask

[SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph], and the discipline is a working captain's, not a mystic's.

• A teacher by default. Her own rhythm puts navigation teaching in the afternoon of every sailing day

• The worldview register, and its ceiling. Her CVD §14.4 worldview-teaching surface is

wayfinding-through-ocean-consciousness across the Outer Order to Adeptus Minor tier progression

movement before any aggro, persona per individual rather than per class, and difficulty and

physical-realism half binds alongside it: real-body motion, weak and strong points, density and

weight, and a damage-type reading

4.1 Ambient and idle vocabulary — eleven entries

Every entry names its trigger and its derivation. This is the set the law calls the entity being

alive before it notices you, read for a working professional who is never the aggressor.

• The tide check. Standing at the waterline before light, reading the set of the water. Trigger:

pre-dawn at a port site. Derived directly from her canonical rhythm's first slot

[SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan].

• The cargo verification. Opening, counting, and re-lashing what is aboard. Trigger: any loading or

unloading state. Derived from the same rhythm's second slot, and it is the one idle in her set that

carries her arc [SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan].

• The seam-check. A hand run along a stitched plank line, testing the cord's tension. Trigger:

proximity to the hull at rest. Derived from the stitched-hull technique the trade curriculum

teaches — holes, cord, and where a stitched hull's strength actually lives

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content].

• The flex-read. Watching the hull work over a shallow, waiting for the give rather than bracing

against it. Trigger: reef or bar traversal. Derived from the record's own reason for the technique,

that these hulls were designed to flex over shallow reefs and sand bars

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content].

• The anchor choice. Weighing one ground tackle against the other before letting go. Trigger:

anchoring. Derived from the two attested types on this coast, an Indo-Arabian shank and the

composite wooden-and-stone form, which the curriculum names as "a real choice with a real cost"

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content].

• The wind-read and the day's number. A look to the sky and a revised estimate spoken aloud. Trigger:

departure and every watch change. Derived from the pilotage arithmetic and its stated error terms —

wind direction and strength, currents, night sailing, wreck avoidance

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content].

• Maghrib. Prayer at dusk, unremarked and unexplained. Trigger: dusk, aboard or ashore. Derived from

her rhythm's evening slot [SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan]. It is never

staged as exotic and never narrated to the player.

• The after-meal maintenance. Rope-work, splicing, small repair, after the food and before sleep.

Trigger: night at rest. Derived from her rhythm's last slot and from the season-of-refit frame

[SRC: swahili_coast # The nakhoda — the master of a sewn ship].

• The teaching turn. She corrects a hand's technique without stopping her own work. Trigger: any crew

or apprentice present during a working state. Derived from the afternoon navigation-teaching slot

being a standing part of her day rather than an event

[SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan].

• The not-look. When the protagonist adjusts the cloth over their ears, she is already looking

elsewhere. Trigger: any concealment-adjust animation in her presence. Derived from the beat's own

never-asks staging and its wordless reveal field [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph]; the NOT-LOOKING half is

declared NOT DERIVED at §0.

• The ashore stance. On land she stands like someone whose ground is usually moving, and she does not

go far from the water. Trigger: any inland site. Derived from the office's whole definition being a

master of a vessel in a trade where the ship is the household

[SRC: swahili_coast # The nakhoda — the master of a sewn ship].

Locomotion set and the physical-realism read. Walk, working stride, the ladder and rigging climb, the

deck brace, the boat-to-boat step, wade, swim, and the haul-and-heave pull. She has an adult working

body with a seafarer's grip and forearm load and no armour weight; her gait carries a person used to

a moving deck. Weak-point and damage-type readings do NOT apply to her as a target, because she is

bonded on the attackability rail — attackable at maximal narrative cost and never a designed

encounter target [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056]

[SRC: COMPANION_MECHANICS_CONTRACT # INTERFACE 9]. The physical-realism law's mass and density clause

does apply to her HULL, which is a real object with real behavior — flex, draft, ground tackle,

displacement — and that is a vessel-simulation obligation this document names and does not design.

4.2 The ship as combat verb, joined to ids that do not resolve

Her ratified combat contribution is the vessel itself: "combat verb = the SHIP (silent-running,

vril-burst keel — a naval/environmental Composure node, no melee duplication)"

[SRC: COMPANION_CAST_BRIEF # BINTI HASSAN], mirrored in her registry notes

[SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056]. Her design study grounds the same contribution in staged beats

— piloting through the escort dhows and rigging hazards at the boarding pursuit, reading the reef and

the monsoon to shape the arena, holding the vessel as the moving platform for the deck duel

[SRC: COMPANION_ANCIENT-GUEST-1 # WHAT SHE DOES — job, trade, combat, teaching]. The staged beats are

real: CH08_B09 is the dhow pursuit and boarding through escort dhows and rigging hazards, CH08_B05 is

the monsoon-timing reef read [SRC: CH_08 # Beat graph].

The join does not close, and this is measured rather than asserted.

• T0_Ally_Behavior_Policy carries fourteen rows and NONE names CHAR_0056. Five are ally_kind

familiar, six are ally_ref CHAR_0002, and exactly three are ally_kind any — AP_0006

read_counter_class on ROLE_SINGLE_SUPPORT, AP_0007 peel on ROLE_GROUP_SUPPORT, and AP_0008

track_arena_state on ROLE_GROUP_SUPPORT [SRC: T0_Ally_Behavior_Policy @ AP_0006]

[SRC: T0_Ally_Behavior_Policy @ AP_0007] [SRC: T0_Ally_Behavior_Policy @ AP_0008]. The arc's first

crew companion holds no policy of her own.

• Of those three, the two she could legally hold are the awareness and pattern-detection verbs.

AP_0006 fits her exactly — reading a telegraph and naming the counter-class is what a pilot does

with a hazard, and the intelligence axis buys precisely pattern detection, proactivity and

awareness [SRC: T1_Integrity_Paths_Worldstates_Master # The Intelligence Axis and Ally Behavior Quality].

AP_0008 track_arena_state is the closest thing in the table to what a ship contributes and it

carries ROLE_GROUP_SUPPORT.

• AP_0007 peel she must NOT hold. Peeling is a body interposing on a threat; she is a person at a

helm, and a helm is not a peel.

• The role axis has no home for her verb. T0_Role_Axis_Registry carries seven axes, and the only

terrain-function axis in the table is ROLE_GROUP_TERRAIN, whose arena cell reads tier_c_raid

[SRC: T0_Role_Axis_Registry @ ROLE_GROUP_TERRAIN] — the hundred-player MMO scale

[SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0077], not the Tier-A solo naval capstone her verb serves. Every other

axis is support, heal or damage, both arena. So a companion whose ratified contribution is

environmental and naval has no legal role_tag on the arena where she actually fights. That is

finding F-1, and it is a registry question this document does not answer.

The one capability that has no rowed policy and is unmistakably hers, realized here because nothing

else in the corpus uses it. Her contribution is not damage, mitigation or control — it is that the

ARENA IS HERS. A naval encounter fought from her deck runs on her knowledge of the water: the lane

that exists and the lane that does not, the ground that will open a hull, the wind that will arrive

in the next minute, the hazard that is a hazard only on this tide. Proposed as the ARENA READ:

trigger is any encounter staged on or over water in her presence; effect is that the environment

becomes legible and usable to the player where it would otherwise be uniform hazard, surfaced as her

saying where to go rather than as a mechanic firing. It composes with, and never duplicates, a melee

companion [SRC: COMPANION_MECHANICS_CONTRACT # INTERFACE 7]. It has no policy id today because every

awareness-domain row is arena-gated on flags a ship does not raise, and because no action_ref

vocabulary for a vessel-scale verb exists. Proposal-tier, and part of finding F-1's registry question

rather than an applied claim.

Vril asymmetry, held. Whatever the vril-burst keel becomes, it is the SHIP's capability and never her

perception; she reads water, not signature [SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0028].

4.3 The ship-keeper MODE — aboard, inland, and away

This is the section the mandate names, and it is the mechanically distinctive thing about this

persona. Every other companion in the cast is a body that walks where the party walks. She is a body

attached to an OBJECT, and the object cannot follow the party inland. That produces three states

rather than the usual two, and each needs its own behavior contract.

• ABOARD. She is at the helm or the navigator's station — the two crew stations rowed on her own hull

[SRC: T0_Vehicle_Registry @ VH_004]. The player can find her without searching: a ship-keeper's

location is a station, not a wander. Her ambient set at §4.1 runs at its full working cadence, and

the arena read at §4.2 is live.

• ASHORE, IN COMPANY. She comes to the market, the port and the counting-house — the negotiation slot

is in her own rhythm [SRC: T3_Supporting_Characters # Nakhoda Binti Hassan] — and she does not go

far from the water. Her ambient set thins to the ashore stance and the teaching turn.

• AWAY, the state that has no precedent in the cast. The party goes inland and she does not. What she

does then is not nothing, and authoring it as nothing is the failure mode this section exists to

prevent. Her day when the party is away is her own canonical day: tide, cargo, refit, prayer,

rope-work, and the crew she already had. The design consequence is that the ship is a returnable

place with a person in it — the chapter's own phrase for what she gives the protagonist is "a bench

that is theirs to return to, a craft with a door that opens twice"

[SRC: CH_08 # Body prose] — and the player should be able to come back to a scene that has moved on

without them. Concretely: work completed while they were gone, a repair finished, a cargo turned

over, news picked up in port. This is the one companion whose absence-state is a feature rather

than an authoring hole.

The rhythm limitation the exemplar filed bites her HARDER, and this document names it and does not

solve it. The exemplar's F-4 is that home_site_ref and work_site_ref take interior:INT_NNNN or

zone:<zone_id> and a travelling companion sleeps and works at the party, which is neither

[SRC: PERSONA_EXEMPLAR_CHAR_0002 # Findings for the director]. Binti Hassan breaks the same two

columns in a second and independent way: her home and her work are the SAME site, and that site is a

VESSEL — a mobile, ownable, upgradeable object with its own registry row and its own crew stations

[SRC: T0_Vehicle_Registry @ VH_004], which is neither an interior nor a zone and is not the party

either. A third prefix, or a vehicle: reference resolving to T0_Vehicle_Registry.vehicle_id, is

what the shape actually wants. She also needs the day_class selector to carry a monsoon season

rather than a calendar day [SRC: ENTITY_PERSONA_SYSTEM # The daily-rhythm axis]. This lane does not

own the schema; Lane D does. Named as finding F-3 and left open.

4.4 Dialogue register — the natural-voice test applied

The test is the doctrine's own: does a person say this

[SRC: NATURAL_VOICE_DOCTRINE # The voice rule]. Six rules, each checkable against a line.

• The two-register law. Technical when the subject is the craft, plain when the subject is a person

[SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0056]. A line that is technical about a person, or vague about a

hull, is not hers.

• Working economy. While the ship is working she says the fewest words that do the job. The warmth

arrives after [SRC: swahili_coast # The nakhoda — the master of a sewn ship].

• No bravado, ever. She does not boast about a passage, a rival, or a risk taken — the trade punishes

it [SRC: swahili_coast # The nakhoda — the master of a sewn ship]. A brag line has been given to

the wrong character.

• Numbers with their error terms. When she gives a distance or a time she gives the condition it

depends on, because the record's own arithmetic works that way

[SRC: swahili_coast # Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content]. This is her single most

characteristic speech habit and it is free authenticity.

• Names are people's own. Persons by name, places in their people's word

[SRC: NATURAL_VOICE_DOCTRINE # The cultural register].

• No questions about the cloth. This is a permanent negative rule for Band A and it does not expire

quietly: nothing she says at any point in the arc retroactively asks the question she chose not to

ask [SRC: CH_08 # Dialogue and scene anchors].

Her encounter lines are three kinds only: a water-state call before, a hazard call during, and an

after-action assessment that is usually about the ship rather than about the fight.

5. Per-node presence, as canon actually states it

Qualitative only, no numeric accumulator, per §3.10. This table is also the evidence base for §9, so

each row quotes or closely reports what the node itself says rather than what the window implies.

Three readings the table carries and the prose should not lose.

• The relationship moves ONCE in her authored corpus, at FORK_CH08_B, and every later appearance is a

consequence of that single move rather than a new one [SRC: CH_08 # Fork graph]. That is a very

different shape from a crew-member's, and it is the strongest structural evidence in §9.

• The Ch 33-37 span is the most specific writing about her anywhere outside Ch 8, and all of it says

she is not there. It is also, exactly, the span the D-CAST card names as her crucible

[SRC: DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH # D-CAST].

• Her window's two termini, Ch 65 and the Epilogue, have no surface at all. Whatever §9 resolves, both

ends of the ratified span are unbuilt.

6. Care and reveal read

• §17.1 collective care holds around her and does not reach her as an individual, per §3.11. The

chapter routes combat through the corrupt merchant, the bound sea-shetani and the mchawi who binds

it, and an intruder at the kaya — never the Swahili community, Islam, the Sufi orders, the waganga

or the Mijikenda [SRC: CH_08 # Protected-chapter combat framing].

• The malevolence on her coast is the tradition's own condemned being and the tradition's own

condemned craft, faced in the healers' own warding register, never a slur on the faith the whole

coast keeps [SRC: CH_08 # Anti-fringe / Frame-A flags]. She is a Muslim seafarer of that coast and

the cosmology is hers; she does not stand outside it explaining it to the player.

• The female-captain claim is grounded, not hedged, per §3.5, and the region page's own build note is

the ruling that closes the earlier book-processing flag

• The genuinely thin surfaces — household, kin, dress, the texture of ordinary life — are left blank

with the acquisition named [SRC: swahili_coast # Section 16 — Academic References and Books to Acquire].

Care is weight and authenticity, so a blank with a citation beats an invention with none.

• §17.9 reveal discipline. No House-of-Velheim name, family or pattern appears in any line or behavior

authored from this persona; the ruled Q1 handling binds her node

[SRC: CH_08 # Decisions surfaced] [SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0043]. No Grand Sage hint appears

anywhere.

• No vril tell. Nothing in her personality, ambient set, dialogue register or arena read is authored

as a perception of substrate [SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0028].

• No Epilogue tell, per §1.1 Band D. This clause exists because the author who has read the arc is

precisely the one who would put it there.

• Care does not accrete. No new care flag, tier or protection is minted here, and nothing in this

document is framed as named-for-veto [SRC: DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH # D-HL-DOCHIST-FIGURE]

[SRC: DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH # THE NO-VETO LAW].

7. Prose-register compliance

Authored to CVD §17.14: plain prose, single-level dashed bullets, no code blocks carrying

paste-content, H2 and H3 and H4 headings only, no emphasis asterisks in the body, affirmative framing

[SRC: T1_CVD_Creative_Vision_Document # 17.14]. The two tables carry structured per-node and

per-column data of the kind the spine entries themselves table, and no table carries paste-content.

Citation form is anchor-only, with zero line-range citations, for the reason stated at the head. The

pronoun note at the head is the register rule an author will need and is not repeated as a section,

because unlike the exemplar's convention it imposes no stripping obligation on any consumer.

8. PROPOSED T0_Persona_Index row — shape only, nothing minted

T0_Persona_Index is UNMINTED and stays so. Rank 11 mints it; this section proposes a row shape as a

finding and applies nothing [SRC: ENTITY_PERSONA_SYSTEM # The new structure].

T0_Persona_Schedule child rows: REQUIRED for her, unlike the exemplar. Her day varies by monsoon

season and the schema's day_class selector is the slot for it, but no season vocabulary exists as a

closed set today. Rows are not proposed here; the need is finding F-3.

T0_Persona_Bucket: not applicable — but note that her CREW is exactly the pooled-bucket case the

schema describes, and no bucket for a ship's company exists anywhere. Finding F-11.

9. The CHAR_0056 registry-versus-spine contradiction — a decision brief

Finding, never an edit. This section adjudicates nothing and applies nothing; it assembles the

evidence, runs the four-step method, and hands the director a recommendation and the strongest

objection to it. Contract clause 6 binds: this lane may not change canon, and the reconciliation is a

multi-node authoring act that belongs to whoever owns the queue.

9.1 The two texts, quoted

THE REGISTRY. chapters_present Ch_08-Ch_65_ship_keeper_aboard;Epilogue_hearth; loyalty_model

invested_sticky; loyalty_join_trigger ship_signing_Ch08; loyalty_departure_threshold

THE SPINE. Thirteen surfaces carry the superseded model. The load-bearing ones, quoted:

• Ch 8's own end state: "companions_present: none traveling — Nakhoda Binti Hassan is the Trade-10

home-base captain who recurs across the Ch 9 and Ch 38 sea crossings if her ally status holds"

[SRC: CH_08 # End-state carry-forward].

• Ch 9's continuity anchor: "no traveling companion (Nakhoda Binti Hassan the Trade-10 captain recurs

across the sea crossings)" [SRC: CH_09 # Continuity anchor], and its end state, "none traveling —

Nakhoda Binti Hassan captained the crossing and recurs on her own arc"

[SRC: CH_09 # End-state carry-forward].

• Ch 33 through Ch 37, five consecutive nodes: "Nakhoda Binti Hassan (CHAR_0056) accounted-for but

not aboard (Indian-Ocean dhow, her node Ch 38 if ally-status carries)"

[SRC: CH_34 # End-state carry-forward] [SRC: CH_35 # End-state carry-forward]

[SRC: CH_36 # End-state carry-forward] [SRC: CH_37 # End-state carry-forward], with Ch 33 stating

• Ch 38 makes her presence conditional: "canonically able to reappear here at the Azores on the

completionist ally-path ... her presence, if carried, is the completionist thread"

• Ch 16 and Ch 17 each RESOLVED a decision on the come_and_go reading and cited the registry as its

ground [SRC: CH_16 # Decisions surfaced] [SRC: CH_17 # Decisions surfaced].

• Ch 65 and CH_EPILOGUE — the window's two termini — name her nowhere

[SRC: CH_65 # End-state carry-forward] [SRC: CH_EPILOGUE # End-state carry-forward].

Ch 8 already records the collision as open: "The Nakhoda Binti Hassan casting — SURFACED, NOT APPLIED

(the registry carries the later ruling and this entry is the stale surface; the reconciliation is a

multi-node re-shape the queue owns)", and it names the two derived collisions — that FORK_CH08_B's

four options are all LEAVINGS which a Ch-8 signing re-frames rather than deletes, and that the

ratified card ties the signing to a ship the same entry holds strictly opt-in and non-gating

[SRC: CH_08 # Decisions surfaced].

Two collisions that record does NOT name, added here:

• The vehicle rail contradicts the ship-lineage premise on its own row. VH_001 is rowed air with

acquired_chapter CH_38 [SRC: T0_Vehicle_Registry @ VH_001], while the sea line is

VH_004->VH_003->VH_001 with the mtepe at CH_08 [SRC: T0_Vehicle_Registry @ VH_004] and the

caravel at CH_33 [SRC: T0_Vehicle_Registry @ VH_003]. The card's premise that the flagship descends

from her mtepe and is acquired at Ch 8 is not what the rail says; the cast brief flagged this and

declined to resolve it [SRC: COMPANION_CAST_BRIEF # BINTI HASSAN]. So the OBJECT she would be

keeper of has no rowed existence at Ch 8, and by the rail's own dates the mothership arrives at the

Azores — the exact node the spine already stages her conditional reappearance at.

• The crucible sits inside the span where the spine is most explicit against her. The card names

"crucible = the Ch 33-35 slave-trade waters" [SRC: DECISIONS_PENDING_JOSH # D-CAST]; Ch 33, 34 and

35 are three of the five consecutive nodes that say she is not aboard, and Ch 33 additionally seats

a different named pilot on the hull [SRC: CH_33 # End-state carry-forward].

9.2 Steelmanned alternatives

ALTERNATIVE 1 — STATUS QUO, both texts stand unreconciled. Nothing is edited; the registry carries

the ruling and the spine carries the superseded model, with Ch 8's SURFACED-NOT-APPLIED note as the

bridge. Steelman: it is honest about an open item, it costs nothing now, and the spine nodes are

individually coherent. Against: every downstream consumer — this persona, the ally-policy lane, the

schedule lane, WS_027's seed, any context pack — must pick a side to function, and they will pick

different sides. It is not a resolution, it is a deferral with a growing consumer set.

ALTERNATIVE 2 — SPINE WINS. Roll the registry back to the come_and_go recurring model: window

Ch_08;Ch_09;Ch_14;Ch_16;Ch_17;Ch_33-Ch_38 conditional, loyalty_model come_and_go. Steelman: it

is the reading thirteen authored nodes actually contain, it is the reading two nodes formally

RESOLVED decisions on, it needs no new prose anywhere, and the come_and_go model already has an

exemplar so nothing orphans. Against: it reverses an explicit Josh ruling that knowingly chose

between two designs, and it re-opens the very triple-cast D-CAST closed

[SRC: COMPANION_CAST_BRIEF # BINTI HASSAN]. It also re-opens the roster gap the ruling closed — the

first half would again have no continuous companion [SRC: PARTY_STRUCTURE # Tier 2 — RECURRING REGIONAL GUESTS].

ALTERNATIVE 3 — REGISTRY WINS, executed as a multi-node re-shape. The ruling stands and the thirteen

spine surfaces move to it: the Ch-8 leaving fork re-frames as a signing, the "none traveling" and

"not aboard" clauses are re-authored, Ch 33-37 gain an Atlantic-leg answer, Ch 65 gains a shed beat,

and the Epilogue gains a hearth beat. Steelman: it is what the ruling says, it is what Ch 8's own

decisions block already directs ("this entry is the surface that must move to it"

[SRC: CH_08 # Decisions surfaced]), it gives invested_sticky a second exemplar, and it fills the

measured Ch 8-12 witness gap [SRC: COMPANION_CAST_BRIEF # THE CAST AT A GLANCE]. Against: it is real

authoring across thirteen locked nodes, two of which formally RESOLVED the other reading, and it must

answer the Atlantic question rather than delete it.

ALTERNATIVE 4 — THE SHIP-KEEPER RECONCILIATION. Read "aboard" as keeping the vessel rather than

walking with the party: she holds the ship along the route while the party goes inland, so "not

aboard" in a spine node means "not in the inland party" and both texts are true. Steelman: it is the

most elegant reading available, it needs the least editing, it matches what a ship-keeper IS, and it

is directly supported for the Indian-Ocean span — at Ch 9 she "captained the crossing", at Ch 16 and

Ch 17 she supplies passages, and a party that walks Ethiopia while a captain holds a hull at the

coast is exactly this shape. Against, and this is decisive: the spine does not say she stayed with a

It sets no numeric relational value, authors no dialogue line, coins no name, assigns no chapter, and

produces no image, plate or geometry. It does not reopen the D-CAST ratification, the invested_sticky

model, the belief-axis token, the departure threshold, the female-nakhoda historicity (ruled in the
