Layer-2 Inter-Chapter Transitions — the Ch 52 to Ch 61 traveled through-line
Story Spine Layer-2 add-on, authored at the RR-62 window as the whole-range arrival and departure pass over the Ch 52 to Ch 61 span. This realizes docs/TRANSITION_TREATMENT.md Layer 2: the connective bridges between chapters — how the protagonist arrives from the previous chapter and departs toward the next — held separate from the chapter bodies because in the 3D build these are their own arrival and departure sequences, not chapter-body prose. It is authored with the whole range in view, since the accumulated sense of travel, the mid-window shift from modern conveyance to Vimana flight at Ch 55, the crossing of all three great Transformations, and the onset of the Political-Access counter-campaign are tunable only at range scale. It continues directly from docs/spine/transitions/TRANSITIONS_CH42_51.md (whose final seam is the Ch 51 to Ch 52 Nazca-to-Uyuni hand-off).
What this document is and is not
It is the between-chapter movement layer. Each entry realizes against the departing chapter's End-state carry-forward block (the departure) and the arriving chapter's Continuity anchor block (the arrival), plus a per-boundary transition note, and stays consistent with the ratified travel geography.
It is not new chapters, not a travelogue, and not a scenery catalogue. Bridges are concise; leanness holds. The chapter bodies already carry the Layer-1 intra-chapter traversal; this layer only threads the seams between them.
Its consumer is the 3D build (each seam maps to a discrete arrival or departure sequence asset) and the spine's own continuity discipline (each seam is a state-consistency checkpoint between two carry-forward blocks). It is indexed in docs/DOC_MAP.md.
Governing constraints (bind every seam)
Travel conveyance CHANGES inside this window — the single most important seam property. Ch 52 to Ch 54 are the last modern-conveyance legs (road, air, and mountain travel across the high Andes, Bolivia to the Atacama); the Vimana ACTIVATES at Ch 55 (the 33.33°S southern-transition First Transformation); and from Ch 55 onward, every seam is Vimana-enabled — free simultaneous travel plus controlled time-travel (Geography §11) — carrying the protagonist to the Arctic (56), Australia (57), Antarctica (58), and then the continental-revisit arc (Africa 59, Japan 60, Europe 61). No Vimana travel appears before Ch 55; every seam after it is Vimana flight [SRC: T1_World_Geography_Master # Travel Methods by Arc].
Reveal discipline binds every seam, and this window is entirely post-reveal. The House of Velheim is nameable player-facing throughout, and each modern vessel is named as the family's form — while the patriarch Cassius stays dark to Ch 76 (every chain runs up into the nameless top of the Velheim ledger, felt as an absence), and the full thesis and any Grand-Sage hint stay dark to Ch 77. The three great Transformations cross inside this window but none of them declares the thesis [SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0043].
The protagonist's internal age is designer-only and never surfaced; it holds flat at the young-adult plateau (18), age_stage Adulthood, across every seam in the window — no placed jumps [SRC: T0_Chapter_Index @ CH_52].
The window's spine is the climb to the Vimana and the crossing of the three Transformations, then the onset of the counter-campaign. Ch 52 to 54 climb the Andes to the activation; Ch 55 is the Physical (First) Transformation and the Vimana's waking; Ch 57 is the Recognition (Second) and Ch 58 the Narrative (Third); and from Ch 59 the family, its facilities defeated, shifts to the Political-Access counter-campaign against the now-public journal (Kannbrandt/Africa, Marrowquill/Asia, Gainsayle/Europe). The Ch 65 integrity lock-in approaches; Ch 59 to 61 are the first three of the final accumulation window [SRC: T4_House_of_Velheim_Canonical # 9.4].
Through-line ledgers (the accumulated sense of travel, tracked at range scale)
Internal age (designer-only, never surfaced). Held flat at the young-adult plateau (18), age_stage Adulthood, across every seam — no placed jumps in this window [SRC: T0_Chapter_Index @ CH_52].
The human companion arc and the evidence-journal. The healer's child (CHAR_0002) travels as the continuous primary companion and journal-keeper across every seam; Ana (CHAR_0017) travels beside her as the melee blade throughout. The journal is the window's load-bearing through-line: carried readable, its public-release decision reached and enacted at Ch 57 (the Truly-Good path), after which it is PUBLIC — and its going public is the hinge that turns the family from facility-defence to the Ch 59-onward counter-campaign against the record [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0002].
The found-family accretion (all names finalized at RR-62). The window gathers present-tense, sovereign allies, carried lightly forward as honored ties: the Aymara heritage-keeper Nayra Condori (Ch 52), the Lickanantay ayllu authority Wenceslao Chaile (Ch 53), the Aymara Tarapacá archaeoastronomer Marcela Ticona Challapa (Ch 54), the Kalaallit knowledge-keeper Paninnguaq (Ch 56), the Bininj/Mungguy Elder (Ch 57, personal name held consultation-gated), the Timbuktu custodian Yehia Maïga and the Great-Zimbabwe archaeologist Rutendo Mhofu (Ch 59), the Japanese swordsmith Sōma Kōhei and the Ainu knowledge-keeper (Ch 60, name consultation-gated), and the Thracian-heritage scholar Kamen Iliev and the Romuva keeper Rimantas Balandis (Ch 61). Each is a moral authority the player answers to, never a combat target. (Ch 55's Inner-Council deputies are antagonists, not found-family) [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0147].
Familiar accretion. The F7 Andean Condor completes its bond across the Atacama legs — Approach at Ch 53, Acceptance at Ch 54, Mastery at Ch 55 — and is carried thereafter (biome-displaced over every later region). The Bowhead whale (a Water familiar) bonds at Ch 56. And on the Truly-Good path, the Child Familiar — the being lost at Ch 2 — is REUNITED at Ch 58, the arc's deepest recovery, carried forward through 59, 60, and 61 (on other paths it stays lost). Shell (W1) reaches her fourth and final canonical peak at Ch 58 (the Ch 10/38/55/58 schedule). The rotational roster (Shell, the Nile Crocodile, the Simurgh, the Koi, Taki, Berkut, the Raven, the Reindeer, Paravani ranging, Kasa, the Sanur Octopus) travels throughout [SRC: T3_Familiars_Named # 4].
The familiar-presence convention (stated once, RR-62). Two classes of familiar read differently in the roster line and this is intentional: (a) Mastery-level and recently-bonded familiars travel with the protagonist everywhere and are enumerated in every chapter's roster — the F7 Andean Condor (explicitly "biome-displaced"), the Amazon river-dolphin, the Jaguar, the Bowhead, and the ranging familiars (Paravani, Kasa, the Sanur Octopus); (b) region-bonded, non-Mastery familiars RANGE in their home biome and REAPPEAR on the revisit of their region — Desta (G3, the Ethiopian wolf, bonded Ch 09-10) and Msafiri (F3, the African fish eagle, bonded Ch 08) range in Africa and reappear at the Ch 59 Africa revisit (they are not enumerated in the away-from-home chapters). Both are canonical bonded members of the 22-slot party; the asymmetry is home-range presence, not a dropped bond [SRC: T3_Familiars_Named # 4].
Trade home bases and schools. Trade 3 Blacksmithing roots its modern home at Ch 60 Japan (the tatara/tamahagane forge, the Katana rooted there); Trade 4 Herbalism's Baka-to-Amazon bridge is read at Ch 59; Trade 9 Inscription stays ancient-only (Egypt and Sámi) and is applied on modern surfaces across the window (the Antarctic apparatus-read, the Timbuktu manuscripts, the Hermetic corpus). No new school debuts in the window (SCH_010 is the Ch-66 Atlantis school) [SRC: T0_School_Registry @ SCH_009].
The Vimana and the rift-research chain. The Vimana is ACTIVATED at Ch 55 and carries every seam thereafter. The family's four-installation rift-research chain runs to its end inside the window — Area 51 (Ch 46, before it) → Atacama (Ch 54) → Arctic (Ch 56) → Antarctica (Ch 58), where the chain is ENDED and the largest modern manifestation closed. The three forced Ether vril-seat bindings complete across the window: Crown (Ch 15, before it), Third Eye (Ch 38, before it), and Throat (Ch 57) [SRC: T4_House_of_Velheim_Canonical # 9.3].
Identity concealment. It holds at Concealment-with-Hostile-Recognition across the window, the pressure curving: high through the Atacama surveillance and the Ch 55 Inner-Council contest, cresting at the Ch 58 direct engagement, then turning HIGH-AND-INSTITUTIONAL from Ch 59 as the war shifts from facility to legitimacy (the counter-campaign). The patriarch stays absent at every node [SRC: T0_Chapter_Index @ CH_52].
The counter-campaign and the Sealed Letter. The Political-Access counter-campaign opens at Ch 59 and escalates across the window — manufactured doubt (Africa, Kannbrandt), manufactured silence (Asia, Marrowquill), manufactured authority (Europe, Gainsayle) — the four desk-directors bound for their Ch-65 reconvening. The Sealed Letter is carried readable with its deepest last third sealed toward its Ch 66 close [SRC: T4_House_of_Velheim_Canonical # 9.4].
The route at a glance
Nazca (Ch 51) → the Bolivian Altiplano and Uyuni (52) → the Atacama, Chile (53) → the Atacama surveillance-installation and the 33.33°S approach (54) → the 33.33°S southern-transition activation, the Vimana wakes (55) → [by Vimana thereafter] the Greenland Arctic (56) → Aboriginal Australia, Kakadu (57) → Antarctica (58) → Africa, the counter-campaign onset (59) → Japan (60) → Europe (61) → [departing toward] the Americas revisit (62).

Arrival. Into the oldest living country on earth for the Recognition (Second) Transformation, where the Bininj/Mungguy Elder sees and names her truly — the beat the angakok precursor foreshadowed [SRC: T0_Chapter_Index @ CH_57].
Transition sequence. An ice-to-escarpment sequence; the long solitude of being the only one who knew what she was quietly ending, the Throat forced-Ether binding completing here; the family absent by an old discipline from this country [SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0043].
Continuity. Age flat 18, Adulthood; the healer's child (present at the recognition and the release) and Ana traveling; concealment changed in kind but still hostile-recognition; the journal reaching its release; reveal lifted, the patriarch held to Ch 76, thesis to Ch 77 [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0002].

Consistency checkpoints (each seam is a state check between two carry-forward blocks)
Age flat 18 at every seam; age_stage Adulthood throughout — verified against each chapter's Continuity anchor and End-state blocks.
Conveyance: modern for the 52→53, 53→54, and 54→55 seams; Vimana for every seam from 55→56 onward — the single hardest consistency rule of the window.
Reveal: family nameable at every seam; Cassius absent and unnamed at every node (held Ch 76); no thesis or Grand-Sage surfacing (held Ch 77).
The three Transformations cross exactly once each (Physical 55, Recognition 57, Narrative 58) and are referenced as crossed at every subsequent seam.
The journal is readable-and-private through Ch 56, PUBLIC from Ch 57, and the counter-campaign responds to its going-public from Ch 59 — the causal chain must hold across the 57→58→59 seams.
The F7 Andean Condor is UNBONDED at the 52→53 arrival, bonds across 53/54/55 (Approach/Acceptance/Mastery), and is carried Mastery-level thereafter; the Child Familiar is lost through Ch 57 and reunited (Truly-Good) from Ch 58.
