Layer-2 Inter-Chapter Transitions — the Ch 42 to Ch 51 traveled through-line
Story Spine Layer-2 add-on, authored at the RR-52 window as the whole-range arrival and departure pass over the Ch 42 to Ch 51 span. This realizes docs/TRANSITION_TREATMENT.md Layer 2: the connective bridges between chapters — how the protagonist arrives from the previous chapter and departs toward the next — held separate from the chapter bodies because in the 3D build these are their own arrival and departure sequences, not chapter-body prose. It is authored with the whole range in view, since the accumulated sense of travel, the geographic logic of the modern sweep through the Americas, and the emotional carry-over of the modern EXTRACTIVE-sector arc are tunable only at range scale. It continues directly from docs/spine/transitions/TRANSITIONS_CH32_41.md (whose final seam is the Ch 41 to Ch 42 South-Africa-to-Caribbean hand-off).
What this document is and is not
It is the between-chapter movement layer. Each entry realizes against the departing chapter's End-state carry-forward block (the departure) and the arriving chapter's Continuity anchor block (the arrival), plus a per-boundary transition note, and stays consistent with the ratified travel geography.
It is not new chapters, not a travelogue, and not a scenery catalogue. Bridges are concise; leanness holds. The chapter bodies already carry the Layer-1 intra-chapter traversal; this layer only threads the seams between them.
Its consumer is the 3D build (each seam maps to a discrete arrival or departure sequence asset) and the spine's own continuity discipline (each seam is a state-consistency checkpoint between two carry-forward blocks). It is indexed in docs/DOC_MAP.md.
Governing constraints (bind every seam)
Travel geography is modern conveyance — land, air, and river boat — never Vimana flight. This whole window is present-day, and the sweep runs by road, aircraft, and river craft across the Americas; controlled Vimana flight arrives only at Ch 55, so no Vimana travel appears anywhere in this range, even though the six-coordinate hunt completes inside it [SRC: T1_World_Geography_Master # Travel Methods by Arc].
Reveal discipline binds every seam, and this window is entirely post-reveal. The House of Velheim is nameable player-facing throughout (the Ch 38 midpoint reveal lifted it), the modern hunt is two-directional, and each EXTRACTIVE and other vessel is named as the family's modern form — while the patriarch Cassius stays dark to Ch 76 (every chain runs up into the nameless Velheim ledger) and the full thesis and any Grand-Sage hint stay dark to Ch 76. The one VRIL-standalone node in the window, Ch 45 Cahokia, carries no Velheim presence at all, and Ch 51 opens the Andean arc with a second VRIL-standalone node [SRC: T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0043].
The protagonist's internal age is designer-only and never surfaced; it holds at the young-adult plateau (18) across the entire window, the involuntary time-fluctuation having ended permanently at the Ch 38 stabilization, and age_stage is Adulthood at every seam [SRC: T0_Chapter_Index @ CH_42].
The modern EXTRACTIVE-sector arc is the window's spine. Ch 39 to Ch 50 are the twelve nodes of the modern arc (eleven House-of-Velheim operations plus the one Ch 45 VRIL-standalone node); this window carries nodes four through twelve, closing the EXTRACTIVE-sector synthesis at Ch 50, before Ch 51 turns the road south and upward into the Andes toward the Ch 55 First Transformation. (The 12-node-versus-11-operation framing is flagged for Josh at RR-52.) [SRC: T4_House_of_Velheim_Canonical # 9.1].
Through-line ledgers (the accumulated sense of travel, tracked at range scale)
Internal age (designer-only, never surfaced). Held flat at the young-adult plateau (18), age_stage Adulthood, across every seam — no placed jumps in this window [SRC: T0_Chapter_Index @ CH_42].
The human companion arc and the evidence-journal. The healer's child (CHAR_0002) travels as the continuous primary companion and journal-keeper across every seam, and the journal is the window's load-bearing through-line: it accretes a FINANCIAL entry at Ch 42, opens its public-release deliberation at Ch 48, and reaches its first operational use — cited as legal evidence — at Ch 50, running toward the Ch 56 decision and Ch 57 release. Ana (CHAR_0017) travels beside her as the melee blade throughout [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0002].
The found-family accretion (all names finalized at RR-52). The window gathers a broad found-family of present-tense, sovereign allies, carried lightly forward as honored ties: the Gullah and Appalachian elders of Ch 42 to 43 (Mambo Zetwal-Klere, Tonton Griyo, Granny Cordelia Aldridge and her circle), the Haudenosaunee faithkeeper Kanenhí:io (Ch 44), the Cahokia preservation officer Marie Shunkamolah (Ch 45), the Hopi cultural officer Verna Talayumptewa (Ch 46), the Nahua/Maya scholar Diego Rentería Canul (Ch 47), the Q'eqchi' elder Petrona Caal and the advocate Lucía Herrera Quiñónez (Ch 48), the Amazon patrol coordinator Edivan Kanamari and the archivist Alejandra Ovalle Batres (Ch 49), the Pan-Amazonian coordinator Rosilene Tikuna, the vegetalista Aurelio Mozombite, and the advocate Helena Vasconcelos (Ch 50), and the Quechua authority Fortunato Ccahuana and the archaeologist Efraín Quispe Mamani (Ch 51). Each is a moral authority the player answers to, never a combat target [SRC: T0_Character_Index @ CHAR_0142].
Familiar accretion. Two new legendary bonds root in this window: the Jaguar (a Ground familiar) bonds at Ch 48 after appearing as a pre-bond presence at Ch 47, and the Amazon river-dolphin (a Water familiar) bonds at Ch 50; both are carried thereafter, joining the rotational roster (Shell, the Nile Crocodile, the Simurgh, the Koi, Taki, Berkut, the Raven, the Reindeer, with Paravani and the Sanur Octopus ranging, and the Child Familiar still lost). The F7 Andean Condor is sighted and foreshadowed at Ch 51 but stays UNBONDED across the whole window — its bond quest is Ch 53 to 55 (Approach 53 / Acceptance 54 / Mastery 55) [SRC: T3_Familiars_Named # 1.5].
Trade home bases and schools. Trade 7 Culinary Arts roots its single home at Ch 42 Haiti (ancient-and-modern continuity), and Trade 4 Herbalism roots its modern home at Ch 50 in the Amazon (its ancient home Ch 7 South India, practiced at Ch 43); Trade 9 Inscription stays ancient-only (Egypt and Sámi) and is applied on modern surfaces across the window. The SCH_009 Mesoamerican initiatory school debuts at Ch 47 and its capstone site-restoration technique is reused at Ch 51 Nazca; no new school debuts otherwise [SRC: T0_School_Registry @ SCH_009].
The six-coordinate Vimana hunt. The hunt runs to completion inside this window: Coordinate 2 of 6 reads at the Ch 45 Woodhenge, 3 at the Ch 46 Fajada Butte sun-dagger, 4 at the Ch 47 Dresden Venus tables, 5 at the Ch 49 Amazon geoglyph, and 6 — the last — at the Ch 50 secondary geoglyph field, completing the sequence (Coordinate 1 was the Ch 41 Drakensberg); no coordinate reads at Ch 43, 44, 48, or 51. From Ch 50 the hunt is COMPLETE and the arc climbs toward the Ch 55 Atacama activation [SRC: T1_World_Geography_Master # Travel Methods by Arc].
Identity concealment. It holds at Concealment-with-Hostile-Recognition across the window (the persistent post-reveal arc state), the pressure curving with each node: moderate through the litigated modern operations (the vessels treat her as a journalist or activist to litigate, not as what she is), and low at the two VRIL-standalone nodes (Ch 45 and Ch 51) where no family operation is present [SRC: T0_Chapter_Index @ CH_42].
The serpent thread and the Sealed Letter. The serpent thread (Thread 2) runs its Americas passage across the window — Damballa at Ch 42, the Mississippian horned serpent at Ch 45, the Quetzalcoatl synthesis at Ch 47, Kukulkan at Ch 48, the geoglyph at Ch 49, and the ayahuasca vision-serpent at Ch 50 as its last embodied Americas form, before it shifts to its geometric, non-physical register at the Ch 51 Nazca spiral. The Sealed Letter is carried readable but with its deepest last third sealed toward its Ch 66 close [SRC: T1_Threads_22_Master_References # Thread 2].
The route at a glance
A modern sweep through the Americas, north then south. From the Caribbean it runs up the eastern United States — the Southeast, the Northeast, the continental center at Cahokia, and the Southwest — then turns down through Mexico and Central America into the Maya world, and on into South America: the western Amazon and its uncontacted boundary, the Pará deforestation frontier, and finally up into the Peruvian Andes, where the road turns from the modern EXTRACTIVE arc toward the coming Transformation. It is a crossing of a hemisphere and of a theme at once — the family's modern extractions traced from the Caribbean to the Andes — and the passages below make each seam of it legible.
