CR_0172 — the False Naga: how a coat with nobody in it stands up, and where the standing fails

STATUS: PROPOSAL-TIER design sheet, written to docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md

and critic-gated against its ten refusal tests. It cites canon rows and writes none. It is the

CREATURE-side sheet for a row whose ENCOUNTER sheet already landed, and § 1 rules the division of

labour before it authors anything. Its payload is the STRUCTURAL account of a body that is a copy —

how a shell of accreted offering-matter holds a sovereign's shape, and why each of the landed

encounter's perceive-phase tells is a structural consequence rather than an asserted quirk.

THE FORK, RULED ON THIS SHEET'S FACE — THE ENCOUNTER SHEET IS LANDED AND IT GOVERNS

docs/proposals/bestiary/sheets/BE_0006_false_naga.md IS LANDED, and it authors a complete encounter

for this being: the three-axis elevation, the five tell shapes with one answer each, the designed

failure state, the tell-repair escalation across three phases, the four escalation channels, the

opener tree, the five breakable coat regions with their silhouette fractions, the chain-meter body

state, the relocation rule and the win. THE RULING THIS SHEET PROPOSES: FIRST-LANDED GOVERNS, on

the DIRECTOR_RULING_L12 RULING_4 precedent re-affirmed at DIRECTOR_RULING_L13 RULING_2 and applied

at CR_0177_soorasamharam_remnant.md:76-110. Concretely:

axis split (20/55/25), the three phases and their beat joins, the win and death rewards, the

win_condition, the tell-shape roster, the answers, the escalation channels, the opener tree, the

part economy and its fractions are its. This sheet quotes them where it needs them and changes

nothing: no new tell shape, no new answer, no fourth elevation axis, no re-cut of any fraction.

axis to a landed elevation is exactly the drift the L12 ruling exists to stop.

chain as "spine_00..spine_NN at declared few-degrees-per-vertebra ROM"

[BE_0006_false_naga.md:50-52] — a statement that a ROM exists rather than a ROM, and a phrase the

lane has already had to correct once: "AN EARLIER DRAFT OF THIS SHEET UNDERSTATED THE PER-JOINT PLAY

AS 'a few degrees' — copied forward from the CR_0002 sheet — and the bucket's measured figures

replace it" [CR_0147_reticulated_python.md:51-54]. It also gives the hood "paired

quadrate-analogue spreaders with their own joint chain and a declared open/close ROM" [:143-144],

likewise unnumbered. That is not a criticism of a sheet that predates the amendment: doctrine

§ 2.1's inline licence EXPIRED at DIRECTOR_RULING_L12 RULING_3, after which a covered row DERIVES

from its archetype bucket and cites the path. § 2 does that, and it is the single largest thing this

sheet adds.

tells as facts about the counterfeit — it does not displace, the mass does not arrive, and it never

rises to greet [:101-112] — and states honestly that the third is "authored as an ANIMATION-LAYER

fact rather than a VFX one, and it is the single hardest requirement this sheet places on the

creature-animation lane" [:107-109]. A REQUIREMENT ON AN ANIMATOR IS NOT A MECHANISM. § 2 and

§ 5 supply the structure that makes all three of them consequences rather than instructions, which

is the difference between a boss an animator has to remember to animate wrongly and a boss that

cannot animate rightly.

registry, the spine, the region page and the two character rows [:32-34]; CR_0172 did not yet exist

to be read and carries about 1,900 words of adjudication across its four populated adjudication

cells, the notes cell alone running 879 words (counted this pass; the earlier "roughly four

thousand" was an unmeasured estimate and is repaired here) — the CONSTRUCT_NOT_PERSON and

MANIFESTATION_NOT_PERSON refusals, the collect-verb reasoning, the accusation-record law, the

attestation-honesty declaration. THE OWNERSHIP CONCLUSION IS UNCHANGED BY THE NUMBER: a body of

adjudication that did not exist when the encounter sheet was written is still unread by it, and

§ 3 and § 7 build it.

but runs no control. § 3 runs both, and the negative one is already recorded in canon.

CONSISTENCY WITH THE LIVE BOSS ROW, CHECKED AND REPORTED. @ BE_0006 carries primary_verb perceive,

secondary_verb break, axis_split 20/55/25, win_condition PERCEIVE;EXPOSE, has_nonkill_path

TRUE, defeat_protected FALSE, intelligence_tier sorcerous and target_type

environmental_manifestation, and the spine's join index agrees on every one of them [CH_06.md:110].

This sheet asserts nothing against any of those cells. **THE ONE KNOWN TENSION IS ALREADY PROPOSED

ELSEWHERE AND IS NOT RE-OPENED HERE**: the row's own notes reads target_type

environmental_manifestation as SEATING rather than personhood, identifies it as probable v2.4 residue

from the de-cultured framing the golden re-enrichment replaced [CH_06.md:298], and states that the

correction "is PROPOSED in this return and routed to the boss lane, not applied here"

[@ CR_0172 :: notes]. It is cited, not re-proposed.

2. base_species

honestly, on the CR_0177_soorasamharam_remnant.md:125-139 pattern.

that is the first design fact rather than a gap ... Its whole body is a BORROWED ONE, so part one

runs against the thing it is wearing — the genuine Naga's sovereign serpent form"

[BE_0006_false_naga.md:38-41]. So part one runs against CR_0174's form, and every departure is

a departure from THAT.

excluded.PROVISIONAL_folklore beside CR_0174, and both anatomy tables scope those rows out

[LIMBLESS.json § scope]. The row's mesh_tags.morphology reads "folklore", which is a

provenance word and not a body plan.

FOLLOWS RATHER THAN GUESSES — and the word is exact rather than loose, because

BE_0006_false_naga.md is PROPOSAL-TIER by its own STATUS line [:12-14] and is therefore a

LANDING and not a canon ruling: what binds here is the first-landed precedent

[DIRECTOR_RULING_L12 RULING_4; DIRECTOR_RULING_L13 RULING_2], and the registry-side archetype

assignment remains an open canon decision boarded in § 9. The

landed sheet rules the worn form "the limbless serpent grammar" [:49-52], so this sheet derives

from LIMBLESS.json § sub_plans.serpentine by ARCHETYPE COVERAGE — the test doctrine § 2.1 states

— and § 9 boards the census assignment as the registry-side decision it is.

CR_0174's derivation, because a copy that derived from a different envelope than its original would

be a different creature at the rig level. The worn envelope: 160 to 400-plus precloacal vertebrae

with one FREE rib pair each and no sternum; a single ordered chain, root then N segments head to

tail; the four-bone kinetic jaw on an elastic front ligament; per-joint intervertebral lateral -25

to +25 degrees, dorsoventral -20 to +20, axial rotation -10 to +10 [GASC1974, MOON1999,

HOFFSTETTER1969], with the zygosphene-zygantrum permitting lateral flexion and BLOCKING axial

rotation so the body cannot corkscrew, and with the lateral limits regional rather than uniform;

gait modes lateral undulation, rectilinear and concertina; rig conformance 22 to 64 deform bones

with no limb chains, and the centreline rule that the chain must span at least half the body's

horizontal axis [LIMBLESS.json § sub_plans.serpentine]. The worn pose is the seated-sovereign

stack of three turns, whose 1,080 degrees of cumulative lateral curvature puts the segment floor at

44 by the bucket's own derivation rule [CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 2].

THAT ENVELOPE, IT GETS A REDUCED ONE, AND THE REDUCTION IS WHERE THE FORGERY LIVES.** The landed

sheet rules the accretion "a layer of separately-authored plates bound to the underlying chain with

their own break state", explicitly geometry rather than texture, because "the plates are the part

economy" [:145-151]. A RIGID PLATE THAT BRIDGES A JOINT REMOVES THAT JOINT. Declared as this

sheet's own structural consequence, and SCOPED at the same time so it does not collide with the

worn envelope: **THE PLATES COVER THE RAISED FOREBODY AND THE HOOD-COLLAR SPANS AND ARE A MINORITY

OF THE CHAIN**, and across those spans the effective per-joint lateral excursion falls from the

bucket's 25 degrees to approximately zero, with the span's bend taken at the PLATE GAPS. **SO THE

COAT'S CURVE IS A POLYGON WHERE THE ORIGINAL'S IS AN ARC ALONG THE PLATED FOREBODY**, and the facet

count there is the plate count. The seated turns below are unplated and hold their curvature by the

mould rather than by live articulation — § 5 carries the derivation. THE RESOLUTION AT WHICH THIS

READS IS STATED, because it must not contradict § 4's contract: it is a CONTACT-DISTANCE read and

not a silhouette finder, which is exactly where the landed sheet already puts the material —

PLATE B's register, and the P3 tell where "under sustained regard the material reads"

[:189-191, :268-270].

"THE COUNTERFEIT'S OWN BODY is never seen until part three's break, and it has no separate skeleton

in the sheet's sense" [:56-57]. THIS SHEET SUPPLIES WHAT IT HAS INSTEAD: A SHELL. The coat is a

self-supporting compression shell of accreted offering-matter, laid down in courses over years

around a person-scale void, standing the way a wasp nest or a set mould stands — every load path

running IN THE SURFACE and none through a core, because there is no core. Declared as this sheet's

own invention in § 7 and named as the game's own.

the mechanism behind the landed encounter's widest tell. The landed reads are carried unchanged —

"a heavy coiled base with a light, precise forebody. It does not travel during audience. The gait

exists and is deliberately almost never shown, which is itself a tell" [:53-54] — and § 5 supplies

why the gait is almost never shown, which the landed sheet leaves as an observation.

forebody as torso, hood as regalia" [:55]. AND THAT IS THE POINT: THE SILHOUETTE IS CORRECT. The

forgery is not in the outline and § 4's contract says so in as many words.

3. lore_source

paraphrased: "authentic living sinhalese tovil register ... the counterfeit is a deceiver-yaka, a

yaka of the kind the island's own traditions name and fear, a false thing that has taken the shape

of a sacred one, wearing reverence like a stolen coat and drinking the offerings and the dread meant

for a genuine and living naga", with the deception "native to the tradition rather than imported"

[@ CR_0172 :: folklore_attribution_source, normalising the cell's underscore encoding — this text

lives in that cell, and folklore_behavior_substrate is empty on this row as § 1 records].

Buddhist one and the chronicles absorb rather than erase it — the founder-king settles the yakkhas

Kalavela and Cittaraja and a yakkhini in the city and provides for them, and builds a house for the

yaksa Maheja whose shrine persisted into the next reign [sri_lanka.md:519-527, SRC_00263 pp. 86,

89]. **A YAKA TAKING A PLACE AT A SHRINE AND BEING FED BY PROVISION IS THE TRADITION'S OWN GRAMMAR,

NOT AN INVENTION** [BE_0006_false_naga.md:71-76]. What this one does wrong is take a place that is

not its own, under a face that is not its own.

honours paid, self-interest, kin loyalty and its own devotion — "That is what the counterfeit steals

the shape of, and it is why a careless blade at the shrine cuts the wrong way"

[sri_lanka.md:540-549, SRC_00261 pp. 197, 282].

of a demolished Jain monastery and given to a thera who had helped a king in his misfortune, its

monks living as a separate group from the Mahavihara from that point, "at first with no difference

in theory or practice except a disagreement over whether a disciplinary charge had been justly

brought", hardening only when monks of an Indian sect were received [sri_lanka.md:505-518,

SRC_00263 pp. 137, 139]. NW_0004 Venerable Silaratana and NW_0005 Venerable Vimalaruci stand inside

that documented history as Cat-4 UNAWARE passive mechanisms; neither is a culprit and neither is a

target [CH_06.md:110; :202; :258].

use, exactly as the region page requires: the healing rite's images "painted in many colours in

horrible and monstrous shapes ... all deformed but something resembling the shape of a man", the

night ceremonies with drums and pipes and dancing until almost day, and the images at the end

carried out and cast into the highways to be trampled [sri_lanka.md:614-625, SRC_00237 pp. 62,

64]. THAT REGISTER BELONGS TO THE SIBLING ROW AND NOT TO THIS ONE — it is CR_0173's and is built

at BE_0006_S1_tovil_yaka.md:36-41 — and it is cited here only to fix where the boundary is.

ON THIS SHEET.** The row declares its own gap rather than borrowing a citation: the region page's

positive-controlled scan returns ZERO for kattadiya and no true hit for tovil (the two apparent

matches being substring artefacts), and records that "the entire Tovil demonology — the named yakku,

the diagnostic system, the mask iconography, the rite's sequence — is absent" from the processed

corpus [sri_lanka.md:1340-1355]. SO THIS ROW RESTS ON CANON-SIDE AUTHORITY — the spine, the

golden re-enrichment and CHAR_0043 — plus the seventeenth-century outsider's STAGING description

only, "and it claims no corpus citation it does not have"; the specialist Tovil literature (Wirz,

Kapferer, Obeyesekere, Sarachchandra) is the named Section-16 MUST-ACQUIRE and that gate stays OPEN

[@ CR_0172 :: notes; sri_lanka.md:1357-1365].

THE CONSEQUENCE, APPLIED WITHOUT EXCEPTION AND IT IS THE SIBLING SHEET'S RULE INHERITED: this

sheet designs the COUNTERFEIT'S BODY and refuses to design the DEMONOLOGY. No named yaka is given an

invented appearance, an invented mask, an invented affliction signature or an invented name-form;

the names the spine already carries are carried and not extended

[BE_0006_S1_tovil_yaka.md:79-92]. When the acquisition lands, everything structural on this sheet

is superseded in place.

produce an empty sheet.** HL_0002: "Claims about a LIVING culture's tradition, ritual, language, or

sacred practice trace to primary-source record (floors 1-3). Mythic monsters, boss encounters,

dungeon/site design, and adventure content carry fantasy license — grounded in the tradition's own

material but free to extrapolate for playable spectacle; they are not bound to a citable source."

The tradition's own material here is the deceiver-yaka category, the yaka-at-a-shrine grammar, the

provisioning, the court that is stolen and the blameless rivalry. The body that carries them is

ours, and § 7 names every part of it as ours.

a principle and not a being, surfaced only as the counterfeit's method and the mirror wall's

distortions, never declared and never given a mortal NPC's face [CH_06.md:300;

sri_lanka.md:657-664; HL_0043]. IT IS NOT ROWED ANYWHERE AND THIS SHEET ROWS NOTHING FOR IT.

this subject: SRC_00263 (Rahula, *History of Buddhism in Ceylon*) resolves on the region page's own

Section-16 list as "the Section-4/5/7/8 institutional anchor ... and the scholarly frame around the

yaksa material" [sri_lanka.md:1275-1277], and its pp. 86, 89, 137 and 139 are quoted above.

NEGATIVE, and it is an absence rather than a failed query, already positive-controlled by canon: the

page's own scan block proves the method by returning hits for Kande Yaka, kirikoraha, dugganawa,

aude, waruge, Wanniyalaeto and Deshiya while returning zero for kattadiya and tovil

[sri_lanka.md:1322-1355]. A ZERO THERE IS A REAL ZERO, and it is why § 4's marks table is

built from the chronicle rather than from the demonology.

course structure and its laying order, the plate-bridging rule and the faceted bend, the

mean-density derivation, the shell's three structural failure modes, the flooding repair and its

sag, the pre-formed rise and why it cannot be sequenced, and the hollow's mould geometry.

CARRIED FROM THE LANDED SHEET AND NOT EXTENDED: the offering-matter material, the four courtesy

tells, the tell-repair escalation, the coat-plate part economy and its fractions, and the hollow.

4. elevation

THE AXIS SET IS BE_0006'S AND IS CARRIED UNCHANGED. THIS SHEET ADDS NO AXIS. The three, quoted:

word literally as the design. What identifies it is not a feature it has but a set of things that

are missing behind a surface that has them" — the form that does not displace, the mass that does

not arrive, and the courtesy that never rises [BE_0006_false_naga.md:97-112].

accreted OFFERING-MATTER: lamp-soot laid down in the grain of a scale, dried flower-matter packed

where scales overlap, cloth-fibre and thread felted into the hood's edge, wax run and set along the

underside" [:114-121].

break: "a FIGURE-SHAPED HOLLOW of packed offering-matter with nothing occupying it" [:122-128].

MECHANISM, the landed sheet's: "the being is made OF the reverence it takes. That is why it has

surface without mass, why it is at the shrine at all, why it widens a quarrel ... and why breaking the

accretion ends it without a body ever being killed" [:130-134].

ONE-LINE READ, the landed sheet's: "a naga king holding court whose coils do not push the water aside,

and who never once rises" [:94-95].

EMISSION: NONE, the landed sheet's ruling and confirmed here against the row: no defender_element

is set, no emitting family is claimed, and the form reads bright because a shrine is full of lamps and

it is LIT by them, with the soot in its scale-grain the record of those lamps [:136-138].

THE SERPENT LEGIBILITY CONTRACT — CH_06's THREE-POINT SERPENT DISCRIMINATION

AUTHORED ONCE AND CARRIED BYTE-IDENTICAL ON ALL THREE SHEETS OF THE SET —

docs/proposals/bestiary/sheets/CR_0030_indian_cobra.md § 4,

docs/proposals/bestiary/sheets/CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 4 and

docs/proposals/bestiary/sheets/CR_0172_false_naga.md § 4. It is SELF-CONTAINED: every claim in it

carries its own citation, nothing in it depends on which of the three sheets it is sitting on, and it

runs from this heading to its own terminator line, so the three copies are byte-equal by construction

and an md5 over the section is the same on all three.

THE SET. Three serpent-form bodies are rowed at CH_06 and the chapter's entire main-boss mechanic is

telling them apart. CR_0030 the Indian cobra (*Naja naja*, ontology_class ORDINARY_FAUNA,

trade_8_tameable TAME, mesh_tags.style realistic-ethnographic) is the real animal of the island's

tank country. CR_0174 the Naga of Sri Lanka (ontology_class SACRED, combat_permission PROTECTED,

cultural_depiction_required TRUE) is the Mahavamsa-documented conscious sovereign court, INVIOLATE —

"striking it is a designed failure state, not a win" [CH_06.md:110], "striking what proves genuine is

a designed reset, never a valid option" [CH_06.md:177]. CR_0172 the False Naga (ontology_class

CONDEMNED, combat_permission FOLKLORE_FACED, cultural_depiction_required TRUE) is the

deceiver-yaka wearing the third's form, the chapter's main boss at BE_0006, and the reason the

discrimination is dangerous rather than academic: "to strike the counterfeit without certainty is to

wound the real" [CH_06.md:29; :137].

THE GOVERNING LAW OF THIS CONTRACT: THE FINDER IS SCALE-FREE AND THE CONFIRM IS NOT. A player

cannot judge a body's size without judging its distance first, and at a shrine pool at dusk the

distance read fails before the size read does. Every finder below is therefore a RATIO measured

against the animal's own body or a COUNT of its own parts, and every colour, texture or ornament read

is a CONFIRM that arrives second. The stockings rule is carried in principle from the landed sets: a

confirming mark confirms, it never finds [CR_0038_indian_leopard.md:294-299].

FINDER 1 — THE RAISE RATIO: HOW MUCH OF ITS OWN LENGTH THE BODY STANDS UP. This is the only read

in the set that survives black fill, night, rain and water. THE COBRA STANDS ITS FORWARD FIFTH TO

QUARTER and no more; the raise is a cantilever paid for out of a gathered base, it reaches roughly a

standing adult's knee on a large animal, and the remaining four-fifths of the body stay flat on the

ground behind it. THE COURT AND ITS COUNTERFEIT STAND THE FORWARD THIRD, and they stand it to a

standing person's EYE — the landed rule is "the forebody raised to meet a standing person at eye

height in the audience posture ... the raise a distributed lift across the forward third rather than

a hinge" [BE_0006_false_naga.md:49-52]. IN BLACK FILL: the cobra is a SHORT vertical over a LONG

horizontal, and the other two are a TORSO-LENGTH vertical over a mass that reads as a seat. The read

is the fraction of the body that has left the ground, and it needs no distance estimate to take.

FINDER 2 — WHAT THE BASE UNDER THE RAISE IS DOING: A GATHER, OR A SEAT. THE COBRA'S BASE IS A

LOOSE, FLAT, SINGLE-LAYER GATHER — an S or an open coil pressed to the ground, unstacked, holding no

shape it did not need this second, and ready to be abandoned the moment the animal leaves. THE COURT

AND ITS COUNTERFEIT SIT ON A STACK: three turns of body laid one ABOVE another, which the landed

resting silhouette names "a seated sovereign. Coil as throne, forebody as torso, hood as regalia"

[BE_0006_false_naga.md:55]. IN BLACK FILL a stack has TERRACES and a gather does not, so the second

finder is a step count in the outline's lower half and it is available at any distance the first

finder is.

CONFIRM — **THE HOOD IS THE CONFUSABLE, NOT THE DISCRIMINATOR, AND THIS CONTRACT SAYS SO RATHER THAN

PRETENDING OTHERWISE.** All three bodies carry a hood: the cobra's is real elapid anatomy, and the

court's and the coat's are landed on the encounter sheet [BE_0006_false_naga.md:50-52, :143-144,

:206-211]. A spread hood therefore finds NOTHING in this chapter. What it does confirm, once one of

the two finders has already answered, is width against the body carrying it and edge character at

contact distance. Any design, plate or prompt that leans on "the one with the hood" has produced a

read that fires on all three subjects.

CONFIRM — **THE STYLE REGISTER, WHICH IS CANON RATHER THAN DESIGN AND WHICH SEPARATES ONE BODY FROM

TWO.** CH_06 reserves stylization by name: "realistic-ethnographic for the Sinhalese, Vedda, and

Tamil communities, monuments, and tank-country; mythologically-stylized only for the deceiver-yaka

and the Tovil demons and their masks" [CH_06.md:240]. CR_0030's own mesh_tags.style cell reads

realistic-ethnographic; CR_0172's and CR_0174's both read mythologically-stylized. THE RULE: **IF THE

THING IN THE WATER READS STYLIZED, IT IS NOT THE ANIMAL — AND IT IS STILL NOT ANSWERED WHICH OF THE

OTHER TWO IT IS.** (The spine line names two items where the roster carries three, and the

under-enumeration is boarded as a finding on CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 9 for the spine owner;

no lane edits canon and none did.)

**THE THIRD POINT OF THE DISCRIMINATION IS NOT A SILHOUETTE READ, AND SAYING SO IS THE MOST IMPORTANT

LINE IN THIS CONTRACT.** Between CR_0174 and CR_0172 the silhouette read is DELIBERATELY NULL. The

counterfeit is a copy of the court's form — "its whole body is a BORROWED ONE"

[BE_0006_false_naga.md:38-41] — so raise ratio, terrace count, hood, outline, scale and pose all

answer the same on both, BY CONSTRUCTION AND ON PURPOSE. A design that let an outline separate them

would delete the chapter: the danger canon states is precisely that a player CAN read the shape and

still be wrong [CH_06.md:29; :157], and the failure state exists because the eye's fastest instrument

is the one that cannot help here. **THE THIRD READ IS BEHAVIOUR, WORLD-RESPONSE AND PROTOCOL, TAKEN

OVER TIME**, and it is the four marks below.

THAT KEEPS THEM APART IS THE ARC'S OWN AND IS A CITATION RULE RATHER THAN A TASTE: attested

iconography "builds on the row whose tradition attests it, and never travels to a neighbouring

people's cognate" [CR_0002_naga_tana_water_aspect.md:294-298]. **SO NO MANY-HEADED CREST, NO CROWN

AND NO RAISED HUMANOID TORSO APPEARS ON ANY BODY IN THIS CH_06 SET**, in either the sacred or the

condemned register, because no source on this island's shelf attests one. And one further separation

inside the chapter itself: the malevolent Tovil yakku (CR_0173) are a HUMANOID-COMPOSITE register —

"all deformed but something resembling the shape of a man", man-shaped base with animal hardware

[SRC_00237 p. 62; BE_0006_S1_tovil_yaka.md:36-41] — and share no body plan, no silhouette and no

asset with anything in this set; and the revered Vedda Nae Yaku (CR_0175) and Kande Yaka and Bilindi

Yaka (CR_0176) are venerated ancestral spirits of a living community, are not villain material, and

are never staged in the same category as any of it [sri_lanka.md:651-655].

THE ONE POSE THAT COLLAPSES THE SET, NAMED SO THE ANIMATION AND PLATE LANES CAN PROTECT IT. All

three bodies lying flat and still — the cobra at rest in shade, the court unstacked and submerged to

the flank, the coat arranged low before an audience begins — present a long horizontal with no raise,

no terraces and no motion, and NO FINDER IN THIS CONTRACT IS IN FRAME. THE DESIGN RULE, carried in

principle from the landed tail-tip rule [CR_0056_african_lion.md:241-244] and turned onto this set:

THE WATER IS ALWAYS THE LAST THING TO GO STILL. On the court the pool is answering a mass even at

rest, and on the coat it is not, so the widest mark in the marks table stays alive in every idle the

set has — and on the cobra there is no pool at all, because its ground is bund crest, threshing floor

and dry stone rather than a shrine pool, which is a PLACEMENT read and is free.

THE SERPENT LEGIBILITY CONTRACT ENDS HERE.

WHAT THIS SHEET ADDS TO THE ELEVATION IS NOT AN AXIS BUT THE MECHANISM ALL THREE ALREADY OWE.

A10 requires a body that has a surface and lacks the things behind one; A8 requires a material that

holds a shape; A9 requires a hollow that stands open. **NONE OF THE THREE IS BUILDABLE FROM "a layer

of plates bound to the underlying chain".** § 5 is that debt paid, and the payment has one governing

idea:

**THE COAT IS A COMPRESSION SHELL, AND EVERY LANDED TELL IS A CONSEQUENCE OF THAT ONE FACT RATHER

THAN AN INSTRUCTION TO AN ANIMATOR.** Declared as this sheet's own invention. The three failure

points, each derived:

dried petal, felted fibre and set wax laid in courses around a void has a mean density far below

water's; a body of the same outward volume made of flesh sits well above it. Displacement is a

function of the mass that has to be pushed out of the way, so a shape with almost nothing in it

moves almost no water. The landed tell — "no bow-wave when the forebody moves, no meniscus climbing

the scale, no settle when it stills" [:101-105] — is not a thing the being is choosing to withhold.

IT IS A THING IT CANNOT PRODUCE, and that is the difference between a tell and a trick.

original, the audience raise is weight running down a three-turn stack and out through the lowest

turn's contact patch [CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 5]. In a shell there is no such path: a

posture change is a RE-FORMING OF A SURFACE and not a transfer of a centre of mass, so the coil is

at rest and then the coil is raised with nothing having travelled between the two

[BE_0006_false_naga.md:106-109]. **THE ANIMATION-LAYER REQUIREMENT THE LANDED SHEET NAMES AS ITS

HARDEST BECOMES A RIG FACT INSTEAD**: give the coat no weight-transfer solver at all and the tell

produces itself.

TENSION.** This is the strongest of the three and it is why the landed sheet can call it "the

cheapest read in the fight and the one the player is taught first" [:110-112]. A shell can HOLD a

raised shape that was BUILT INTO IT — the courses were laid around a form that was already standing

— but it cannot GENERATE one against gravity from a seated stack, because generating it means

putting the forward third's whole weight into tension along a spine that is not there. **SO THE

COURTESY THE TRADITION ATTESTS IS THE ONE THING THE FORGERY IS STRUCTURALLY BARRED FROM**, and that

is why it is the tell the player is given first and the one the coat has the hardest time repairing.

**AND THE LANDED REPAIRS GET THEIR STRUCTURE TOO, WHICH IS WHERE THE ESCALATION STOPS BEING A

PROMISE.** The landed P2 says "the water answers now — it has learned displacement — and the

greeting-rise has been added", with the rise arriving "at the wrong POINT IN THE COURTESY, after the

throne is offered rather than before it, because the counterfeit copied the motion and not the

protocol" [:184-188]. Both repairs are now mechanical rather than asserted:

break "is what stops the form holding its seated posture" [:206-211]. The P2 repair MANUFACTURES the

P3 weakness, which is the most economical thing a three-phase boss can do.

5. articulation_delta

measured ranges rather than with the landed "few degrees", and holding the seated stack whose

segment floor is 44 [CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 2, § 5]. The coat is bound to that chain, per

the landed rule [BE_0006_false_naga.md:142-144].

than as a single skin, in the order a shrine deposits its leavings: lamp-soot first and continuously,

lying in the grain of every scale it can reach; dried flower-matter packed into the scale overlaps

where a hand would tuck an offering; cloth-fibre and thread felted along the hood's free edge, which

is the highest and most reachable line on the form; and wax run down and set along the underside,

where a lamp drips and gravity carries it. **EACH COURSE'S MATERIAL SITS WHERE THAT MATERIAL WOULD

ACTUALLY GO**, which is what makes the surface legible as a record of a shrine rather than as a

texture pass. The landed material list is unchanged; only its ORDER and its PLACEMENT LOGIC are

added [:114-121].

A PLATE IS RIGID AND A RIGID PLATE THAT SPANS n VERTEBRAE REMOVES THOSE n JOINTS.** Effective

per-joint lateral excursion across a plated span drops from the bucket's ±25 degrees to

approximately zero and the bend is taken entirely at the plate GAPS, so the coat's bend is faceted

and the facet count equals the plate count. **THE APPARENT CONTRADICTION IS RESOLVED RATHER THAN

LEFT**: the plates are "carried, not structural" for WEIGHT, and they are structural for MOTION —

a carried layer bears no load and still forbids a bend, which is exactly how a splint works.

BECAUSE A LANE THAT PLATED THE WHOLE CHAIN WOULD BUILD A FORM THAT CANNOT SIT DOWN.** Three facts,

in order.

were laid AROUND an already-coiled form, so the stack's 1,080 degrees of cumulative lateral

curvature [CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 2, § 5] is SET INTO THE ACCRETION and is never

produced by live articulation. No joint on the coat is ever asked to generate it, which is the

live excursion the design asks of it is the pre-formed raise's release, on the order of 90 degrees

of cumulative dorsoventral bend. Taken across roughly 32 unplated joints that is under 3 degrees

per joint, inside the bucket's ±20 dorsoventral and ±25 lateral caps

[LIMBLESS.json § rig_conformance.rom_caps_deg.vertebral]. The coat is a REDUCED envelope and

never an exceeded one.

faceted-versus-smooth bend is a CONTACT-DISTANCE READ AND NEVER A SILHOUETTE FINDER. § 4's

contract rules that between CR_0174 and CR_0172 "the silhouette read is DELIBERATELY NULL", so a

facet count that separated the coat from the court in black fill would delete the chapter. The

facets are read on the material at PLATE B's register and in the P3 tell, never in an outline.

[:206-211]. The original's hood is a chain of about forty elongated anterior rib pairs carrying skin

and no load [CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 5], which is why felting its free edge does not

collapse the form on either body. On the coat the felt is a CONTINUOUS band across the ends of that

rib chain, so it stiffens the plate's outline into a fixed curve: **THE ORIGINAL'S HOOD OPENS AND

CLOSES AND THE COAT'S HOOD IS ALWAYS AT ONE WIDTH.** That is a contact-and-motion read rather than

a silhouette finder, and it belongs to the same P3 material register as the faceting.

SUPPLIES WHY IT HOLDS: IT IS A MOULD.** The courses were laid AROUND something and the void is the

negative of what they were laid around, so its interior surface carries the same course lines as the

exterior, running in the opposite sense — the layering is legible from inside, which is what makes

it read as a thing that was BUILT rather than a thing that was emptied. Compression runs continuously

around the void, which is why the void is load-bearing: **THE ABSENCE IS THE ONLY STRUCTURAL MEMBER

THE BEING HAS**, and it is why the last plate's break ends the form. Declared as this sheet's own

invention.

of the bucket's serpentine locomotor modes are ground-reaction modes: lateral undulation pushes

against surface irregularities, rectilinear walks the ventral scales forward in patches, concertina

anchors and extends, and sidewinding lays static contact patches down in sequence so the body rolls

rather than slides [LIMBLESS.json § sub_plans.serpentine.gait]. **EVERY ONE OF THEM

REQUIRES WEIGHT ON THE GROUND**, and a shell has almost none to put there. So the coat can be

ARRANGED in a new place and cannot TRAVEL to one, which is the structural reason its relocation rule

is that it does not leave and does not chase [:218-220]. The landed observation becomes a

consequence.

conscious Naga answers and a counterfeit cannot fake; withhold the strike until the counterfeit's own

mimicry tips its forgery" [@ BE_0006 :: counters; BE_0006_false_naga.md:159-161]. The five tell

shapes and their single answers are at [:163-170]; the designed failure state at [:171-174]; the

tell-repair escalation and its three phases at [:176-191]; the four channels at [:193-198]; the opener

and its variants at [:200-204]; the breakable parts and fractions at [:206-211]; the chain-meter

WHAT THIS SHEET SUPPLIES IS THE BODY-ORIGIN LAYER DOCTRINE PART FOUR ASKS FOR — which segment

initiates, which chain loads, which mass moves — and on this subject that layer is unusually

load-bearing, because on a shell the honest answer to "which mass moves" is sometimes NONE and a lane

that does not know that will animate a body. The shapes and the answers are unchanged; nothing below

adds, removes or re-aims one.

with their fractions UNCHANGED. What this sheet adds is what each part IS structurally, so the asset

lane knows what it is building and why the break subtracts what the landed sheet says it subtracts:

Structurally it is the continuous felted band across the ends of the hood's rib chain (§ 5). Breaking

it returns the outline to the rib chain's own edge, which is ragged where the felt was smooth — an

outline change rather than an interior one, which is why it reads without a HUD.

subtracting one of the coat's repaired tells permanently [:208-209]. Structurally each is a rigid

span bridging n vertebrae; removing it RESTORES those joints, so the body immediately becomes more

articulate and LESS convincing — the faceting shortens and the motion changes register. **THE

SUBTRACTION IS A SUBTRACTION OF FORGERY RATHER THAN OF CAPABILITY**, which is the cleanest possible

reading of the landed rule and is why this economy is unlike any other in the slice.

THE FOUR ESCALATION CHANNELS ARE THE LANDED SHEET'S [:193-198] and are cited rather than restated.

This sheet adds one structural note to one of them, and adds nothing to the other three: the landed

BREATH channel says a breath appears in P2 "timed to the hood rather than to the body, one joint out".

On a shell that is exactly right and is now explicable — the only surface with enough free travel to

show a breath is the hood's skin over its rib chain, because every other span is plated and cannot

move. THE COAT BREATHES WHERE IT CAN, NOT WHERE A BODY WOULD, and the original breathes with the

whole mass in phase [CR_0174_naga_of_sri_lanka.md § 6].

THE ENCOUNTER'S GROUND, AND WHERE THE FIGHT DOES NOT HAPPEN. The site is naga_water_shrine,

protected FALSE, "deliberately distinct from the protected living sacred city so combat is never

routed at Anuradhapura" [CH_06.md:96-97]. Two consequences the asset and encounter lanes should read

as rules: no part of this fight happens at Anuradhapura or in the Vedda forest, both protected true

and combat-walled [CH_06.md:88; :90; :94]; and the shrine itself is an environmental composite whose

envelope the region page marks as region-derived rather than surveyed [sri_lanka.md:60], so it is

built rather than reproduced.

TIER DISCIPLINE, per the row: every read on this being runs on reverence-response,

Mahavamsa-documented marks, inscription and behavioural tells at the Neophyte register, never a tier-6

vril-signature read; the substrate-perception onset waits at the Ch-15 Adeptus-Minor crossing

[@ CR_0172 :: notes; CH_06.md:17; :140; :160; HL_0028/HL_0017].

7. care_read

the Vedda, the Tamil community, the Buddhist sangha, the edura healers, the physicians and the

villagers are honoured allies and protected non-targets, and combat is walled off the sacred city

and the Vedda forest [CH_06.md:88; :221; HL_0003; HL_0123]. The two monks are UNAWARE passive

mechanisms inside a documented dispute and are protected on every path [CH_06.md:110; :202].

tradition's OWN named evil — a deceiver-yaka of a kind the island's own traditions name and fear —

and it is rendered exactly as the tradition condemns it: never softened, never Hollywood-monstered,

never a generic fantasy dragon, and never a de-cultured abstraction

[@ CR_0172 :: cultural_care_register; CH_06.md:298]. The v2.4 build's "negative-consciousness

cloud" is the failure the golden re-enrichment corrected, and this sheet is downstream of that

correction and does not drift back toward it.

RE-OPENS THEM SILENTLY.** NOT a western construct. NOT a generic fantasy dragon. NOT a manufactured

or forced construct of any antagonist apparatus — the row refuses CONSTRUCT_NOT_PERSON decisively,

because canon rules that NO MAKER EXISTS AT ALL and a construct token "would invent a forger canon

denies AND would import the antagonist apparatus into a chapter whose reveal binding is that the

family first appears two nodes on at Ch 8". NOT stripped of personhood — MANIFESTATION_NOT_PERSON is

refused because canon gives this being a CHAR_ row, a role-title, a communication register, motives,
