THE SAME-REGION PERMISSION COMPARISON, TAKEN FROM THE LIVE CELLS. combat_permission is EMPTY here

while CR_0133 Siamese crocodile reads PERMITTED and CR_0140 long-tailed macaque reads PERMITTED. The

"PROTECTED" reading of CR_0140 that circulated in the earlier sheets is STALE notes prose; the live

cell is PERMITTED and its cultural_care_register rules the reading. That is settled on the landed

CR_0140 sheet and is cited rather than re-derived here [CR_0140_long_tailed_macaque.md:32-35].

• DERIVED FROM THE ANATOMY REFERENCE TABLE, not declared inline:

build/3d/schema/anatomy_reference/QUADRUPED.json § sub_plans.ungulate_unguligrade, whose

reference_taxon is *Equus caballus* and *Bos taurus* and whose exemplar line reads "generic

bovid/equid". The doctrine's inline-declaration licence expired 2026-08-12 and a covered row now

derives from the bucket and cites the path (doctrine § 2.1, amended).

• posture grade: erect / parasagittal — the limbs are carried UNDER the body and swung in the sagittal

plane [QUADRUPED.json § posture_grade]

• segments: 4 limbs; 2 weight-bearing digits per foot plus 2 dew claws; 25 presacral vertebrae;

• declared ROM, every range the table's: the scapulothoracic is a SYNSARCOSIS with no bony joint — the

scapula slides on the ribcage through ±25 degrees protraction/retraction and ±15 rotation, and a rig

that parents the humerus straight to the spine loses the whole first third of the stride [DYCE2010,

SISSON1975]; glenohumeral flexion/extension 57 to 165 degrees, abduction/adduction ±20, axial

rotation ±15 [JAEGER2002, MILLERS2013]; elbow flexion/extension 36 to 165 with pronation/supination

locked at [0, 0] by radioulnar fusion [SISSON1975]; carpus flexion/extension 90 to 180 with a HARD

STOP at 180 and no hyperextension, ever [DENOIX2014]; the fetlock is the primary elastic element and

freezing it kills the gallop

• gait: the transverse gallop, plus the canter — a three-beat asymmetrical gait with a defined lead

[§ gait]. On this row the gait matters at the GROUP grain: a herd that turns together is many

copies of one cycle offset by the propagation order in § 5.

• rig conformance: minimum 34 deform bones; spine chain 5 to 24; two forelimb and two hindlimb chains

of at least 4 bones each; bilateral symmetry required [QUADRUPED.json § rig_conformance]

• WHERE THE TABLE IS SILENT, SAID AFFIRMATIVELY — these values stay inline and labeled

AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY. The table publishes no cervical ROM and no cervical/thoracic/lumbar split of the

25 presacral vertebrae, so the short-range neck this design rests on is inline: the head turns with

the shoulders, which is the physical fact under the broadside stand. The table covers bone and joint

only, so the horn (bone core in a keratin sheath, rising outward then up and inward in the bull,

shorter and swept back in the cow), the BARE KERATINOUS FOREHEAD PLATE of the mature bull, the coat

and its sex dichromatism, and the white rump disc, stockings and muzzle ring are all inline. The

table also carries no independent ear pivot, and the ear is the first thing on this animal to move,

so it is inline. The table's own standing caveat carries: goniometry measures the PASSIVE envelope,

and what a live animal reaches under its own power is smaller by an amount the sources do not

separate [QUADRUPED.json § unmeasured].

• mass, stance, gait read: 600 to 800 kg standing 1.55 to 1.65 m at the shoulder — the middle animal

of the three, and the only one whose size is not the point; a light quick trot for a bovid

• resting silhouette: a level-backed ox on white legs with a white patch on the rump visible from

behind at any range, and beside it a second animal of the SAME shape in a completely different colour

3. lore_source

• NO LIVING-TRADITION CLAIM ATTACHES TO THIS ROW, AFFIRMATIVELY DECLARED. folklore_behavior_substrate

and folklore_attribution_source are both empty, cultural_care_register is empty, and

cultural_significance carries habitat and a density claim and nothing else.

• POSITIVE CONTROL FOR THE CITATION TEST, and it is the wave's own: SRC_00322 is the only SRC_ id

anywhere in angkor_khmer.md, and the live worked control for a fauna-row tradition claim with no

SRC_ reaching it is carried on CR_0148, whose cultural_significance asserts a human

cooperative-fishing practice the page never cites [CR_0148_smooth_coated_otter.md:64-70, :202-205].

The ruler matches; it does not reach this row, because this row claims no tradition.

• The row's own cells: wild cattle of the open forest, and Cambodia holds a global stronghold of the

species [T0_Creature_Roster @ CR_0144 :: cultural_significance]. The stronghold clause is the

design permission for herds rather than singletons, and it is the row's, not this sheet's.

• The country: the Angkor plain is monsoon-forest-and-paddy with the Tonle Sap flood-forest ringing

the lake, foliage dense in the flood-forest and thinning on the open baray and the paddy grid

[angkor_khmer.md:154-156; :169-171].

• PROVENANCE, DIRECTIONAL, AND ALREADY BOARDED COHORT-WIDE. The row's source_ref cites angkor_khmer

§ 3, and § 3 names no banteng. The relation is DIRECTIONAL and the page states it: "the page

CONSUMES the T0_Creature_Roster rows the spine already staged and FEEDS region-ambient detail"

[angkor_khmer.md:175-176] — the roster is upstream, so the row does not depend on the section for

its existence. The same dangle runs the whole CR_0133-CR_0150 cohort and CR_0140's notes cell

already boards it as wanting a director ruling rather than a per-row patch

[CR_0140_long_tailed_macaque.md:72-74]. A second leg of the same gap: CH_05.md:265

creatures_and_fauna enumerates the excursion's asset anchors and names no wild bovid either.

4. elevation

• register: REAL_FAUNA (TRUE_TO_LIFE) — doctrine § 3D. Elevation is refused because the row's folklore

columns are empty, it stages no supernatural claim, and the chapter's care architecture depends on

the mundane world reading as real: this is the chapter where the naga is the only

mythologically-stylized presence [CH_05.md:267].

• THE REPLICA TEST DISCHARGES BY CONTRACT PLUS LADDER, per § 3D, and both are stated below.

THE LEGIBILITY CONTRACT — stated identically on all three bovid sheets. THREE WILD BOVIDS SHARE THIS

CHAPTER, so silhouette-first discrimination is the first design obligation. THE FINDERS: the GAUR is

found by its BROKEN TOPLINE, a ridge peaking over the shoulder and dropping to the ordinary back

inside a hand's width — the only topline in the chapter with a step in it; the BANTENG is found by the

WHITE RUMP DISC at the HERD grain, which inverts the animal's read front-to-back and makes herd facing

legible; the KOUPREY is found by LEG AND HANG — the tallest-legged and lightest-bodied of the three,

daylight under the belly, a dewlap falling toward the ground, and horn tips that end frayed rather

than pointed. THE AMBIGUITY CASE, named rather than assumed away: a mature blue-black banteng bull

carries white socks too, so at colour-only range he and a gaur resolve to the same read. THE RESOLVER

is stocking EXTENT measured against leg height — the banteng's white runs high and clean to knee and

hock, the gaur's is a shorter boot on a much longer leg — with the rump-disc check (banteng) or the

ridge-step check (gaur) confirming whenever the rear or the topline is in frame. STOCKINGS CONFIRM;

THEY NEVER FIND.

THE STATE LADDER — A5 age and state, spent as THE TWO-COLOURED HERD, and it is a state a

species-typical photograph cannot carry because it is a state of a GROUP. Mature bulls go blue-black

to dark chestnut and carry the bare keratin forehead plate and the heaviest horns; cows, young bulls

and calves stay bright reddish-tan. One herd in one clearing is therefore TWO COLOURS, and the player

reads its structure at a glance with no marker: the dark ones are few, they stand at the edge of the

group, and they are the ones that will turn to face rather than turn away. The split also separates

this animal from the uniformly dark gaur and the uniformly grey kouprey — three species, three colour

laws.

PRIMARY — A9 THE MARK, spent as SILHOUETTE LAW at the herd grain. Two features, ranked:

• THE WHITE RUMP DISC, the finder. A large clean white patch on the rear of every animal, cow and bull

alike, with white stockings below knee and hock and a white ring at muzzle and eyes. Facing the

player, a banteng is a dark or a red ox; turned away, it is a white disc. That inversion makes the

HERD'S FACING readable in black and white at any distance: discs visible means the herd is going

away from something, and the direction of the discs is the bearing of what moved it. MECHANISM: a

real caudal patch functioning as a following signal within a moving herd — the animal's own

signalling anatomy used for exactly what it is for.

• THE LEVEL TOPLINE, the confirm. No ridge, no step, a straight back with a low hump at the withers.

Against the gaur's broken topline this is the discriminant that closes the ambiguity case above.

ONE-LINE READ: a level-backed ox with white socks and a white rump, standing beside another one that

is the wrong colour.

THE JOB, and it is why the row is worth a sheet. THE HERD IS AN INSTRUMENT FOR READING A PLACE, on two

clocks. WITHIN A MOMENT: rumps toward you is information, not threat — a field of white discs

appearing at once means the herd turned as one, away from something, and that something is behind them

and is not the player. ACROSS THE CHAPTER: banteng graze open glades in daylight where undisturbed and

shift to the ends of the day where hunted or pressed, so a glade holding a two-coloured herd at noon

is a glade nobody works, and a glade where the same herd is only ever seen at dusk is a glade somebody

does. In a chapter whose subject is an empire sold piece by piece and a water supply hoarded, an

animal that tells the player which ground is under pressure is doing real narrative work with one

animation state and a spawn schedule.

THE DELIBERATE NON-REPEAT. The Chapter-2 Timor deer row already owns an alarm read, and it is a NECK —

one animal, vertical, in an understory. This row's read is a COLOUR FIELD — many animals, horizontal,

in the open, carrying a bearing rather than a question. Same instrument class, different grammar, and

neither teaches the other's answer.

EMISSION: none. It reads by the white patches catching what light is in the scene, by occlusion, and

by dust raised off dry ground when the herd turns.

5. articulation_delta

• Nothing is added to the skeleton derived in § 2.
• The rump disc, the stockings and the muzzle ring are hard-edged surface boundaries and not

gradients, because the whole read is contrast at range; a soft edge here is the same defect as a

ridge that bends on the gaur.

• The sex dichromatism is a material variant on one mesh with a shared skeleton, plus a heavier horn

set and the bare forehead plate on the mature bull — one asset family, two colour laws, and the herd

composer draws from both.

• The herd turn is a group behaviour with a declared propagation order, nearest animal first and the

rest following within a beat, because the instrument depends on the discs appearing nearly but not

exactly together. A perfectly synchronised turn reads as a script.

6. fight_grammar

combat_facing is FALSE, combat_permission is EMPTY, and DANGEROUS is a taming-trade grade rather

than a fight flag. This block states affirmatively what the row stages: HERD BEHAVIOUR that is mostly

information, and one bull who is not.

PART ECONOMY HOME: NONE, declared affirmatively — this body carries no breakable region. The currency

of the encounter is INFORMATION, with a single physical consequence at the end of it.

THE ESCALATION, ON THE FOUR CHANNELS, and it is the only one of the three bovids that escalates at the

GROUP grain. POSTURE: heads down grazing with loose spacing, to heads up with spacing closed, to one

dark animal standing clear of the group — three states of a CROWD, readable in black fill. BREATH: the

bull blowing through the nose in the last state, once, the only sound in the set. VOCALIZATION: the

low contact calls of a feeding herd STOPPING, a silence the player learns to hear. NEW OPENER: the

bull stepping out of the group, which never happens in any state but the last.

THE OPENER AND ITS VARIANTS: the root is the rump field, the most legible and least punishing thing in

the set — the player meets it first, learns it means nothing is wrong with them, and is therefore

properly surprised when the herd bunches instead of turning. The bunching is the rump field with the

leaving subtracted; the broadside stand is one animal doing what the group did not; the hook is that

stand with the head taken through its arc. Teaching order is turn, hold, face, hook.

RELOCATION AND TURF, AN INFERENCE AND LABELED AS ONE: canon publishes a foliage-DENSITY gradient

(dense flood-forest, thinning on the open baray and the paddy grid) as a build note for scatter

[angkor_khmer.md:169-171]. Reading that gradient as this animal's turf — the herd owns open glades and

forest edge and works the paddy margin at the ends of the day, conceding the closed flood-forest to

the gaur and the deep dry forest to the kouprey — is this sheet's inference from the density figures,

not a canon statement about the banteng. It relocates constantly and on its own schedule, which is

what makes it an instrument rather than a fixture.

7. care_read

• COLLECTIVE READ: ORDINARY_FAUNA carries no collective claim and the doctrine forbids re-applying

collective protection to game animals. The § 17.1 protection live in this chapter is about

communities and is untouched here [CH_05.md:246]. Nothing in this sheet puts a person in a target

position, and the pressed-glade read is authored as pressure on GROUND rather than as an accusation

against any village.

• ONTOLOGY ROUTING: ORDINARY_FAUNA. Care routes staging, never scope (RULING_10). The row leaves

cultural_care_register empty and this sheet does not invent one.

• ROUTE: ordinary asset path with a concept plate as conditioning, because the two-colour herd law and

the hard-edged white patches are a contract a photographic-wildlife prompt will soften.

• EXTINCTION WEIGHT IS REAL AND NOT HIDDEN, AND THE WINDOW IS KEPT. The row reads T4, endangered, and

also records that Cambodia holds a global stronghold — the two cells together are the honest modern

picture and the design uses both. At 1200 the glades are full, which is what a stronghold means; the

forward reading is a design-layer site-cued time-fluctuation window showing the same glade at the

same noon light with the grazing lines still cut into the grass and nothing standing on them. THE

LICENCE IS NOT CLEAN AND THE SHEET SAYS SO: § 18's forward-strata enumeration lists the megadrought

decline, the elite drift, 1431 Ayutthaya and the Cham strata, and admits no modern-FAUNA stratum

[angkor_khmer.md:1114-1122]. The window is kept and the enumeration gap is boarded as a region-page

debt in § 9 rather than claimed as licence.

• ANTI-TIMID PASS, RECORDED. The reduction considered was dropping the third bovid entirely on the

grounds that three wild cattle in one chapter is redundant. REFUSED: redundancy is a legibility

failure and legibility is solvable — the contract above solves it — the three animals occupy three

bands of the same forest, and this is the only one of the three that is an instrument rather than an

obstacle. A second reduction was considered and refused — cutting the bull's hook so the herd is

purely informational. The bull commits.

• INVENTION DECLARATION: the four tells, the group-grain escalation, the two-clock instrument job, the

disturbed-glade schedule read, the herd-turn propagation order and the time-window empty-glade read

are INVENTED BY THIS SHEET as the game's own. The skeleton, joint roster, ROM, gait and rig

conformance are DERIVED from QUADRUPED.json and cited there. The rump disc, the stockings and muzzle

ring, the level topline, the sex dichromatism, the bull's forehead plate and the independent ear

pivot are inline AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY on the table's declared silences. The open-forest habitat, the

Cambodian stronghold and the T4 status are CITED to the row; the country and the foliage gradient

are CITED to the page.

• REVEAL READ: clean.

8. plate_brief

• PLATE A, identity: a mixed herd in an open glade at noon — dark bulls and reddish cows together,

level toplines, white stockings and muzzle rings, dry-forest edge behind.

• PLATE B, the rump field: the same herd from behind mid-turn, white discs appearing across the group,

a few animals still side-on.

• PLATE C, the bull: a mature blue-black bull clear of the group and broadside, bare keratin forehead

plate, heavy horns, white socks running high to knee and hock.

• PLATE D, the colour law: a bull and a cow at matched scale and light side by side — the plate that

proves one species carries two colours.

• PLATE E, silhouette: black fill at combat-camera distance, the loose grazing group beside the bunched

group beside the single stepped-out bull, judged in black fill alone.

9. boarded_debts

• REGION-PAGE DEBT, F2: angkor_khmer.md § 18's forward-strata enumeration [:1114-1122] admits a

megadrought stratum, an elite-drift stratum, 1431, and the Cham strata, but no modern-FAUNA stratum.

The extinction time-window this sheet designs therefore has no enumerated home on the page. The

enumeration wants extending by the region lane; this sheet keeps the window and boards the gap.

• source_ref cites angkor_khmer § 3, which names no banteng, and CH_05.md:265's

creatures_and_fauna anchor names no wild bovid either. Both legs of the cohort-wide

CR_0133-CR_0150 dangle already boarded on CR_0140's notes cell as wanting a director ruling rather

than a per-row patch.

• combat_permission is EMPTY while CR_0133 reads PERMITTED and CR_0140 reads PERMITTED — two

populated cells and a blank across three angkor_khmer rows.

• collect_verb is EMPTY while rng_drop_anchor is set to DROP_BIGGAME_HIDE_MEAT — a drop anchor

with no verb that produces it, and notes already flags the drop table as an empty forward

reference.

• dex_completion_class is EMPTY, and this is the row where it carries the most weight, because a dex

entry for a dichromatic species has to decide whether bull and cow are one entry or two.

• spawn_rate is EMPTY and flagged in notes, and this row's whole design is a spawn SCHEDULE — the

daylight-versus-dusk read has no column to live in, and there is no herd-size field anywhere.

• height_m and length_axis are EMPTY while tier_classification is MEGAFAUNA, so nothing

downstream can tell this animal from the two larger bovids it shares a chapter with.

• primary_region_ids is EMPTY while region_native carries angkor_khmer.
• cultural_care_register is EMPTY here and on CR_0143 while CR_0142 carries a light-care note.
• mesh_tags.material IS CONTAMINATED, not merely thin. The cell carries all six of the CH_05 chapter

palette's terms — "volcanic andesite, keris and pustaha bark, caldera water, ashfall, Angkor

sandstone-and-laterite, and Cham reddish brick" [CH_05.md:267] — copied whole onto an angkor_khmer

animal. Four of the six (volcanic andesite, keris and pustaha bark, caldera water, ashfall) are the

Batak and Javanese anchor's materials and are WRONG NOUNS for an open-forest ox; a generator reading

this cell is being fed the other half of the chapter.

• kit_ref is EMPTY, which the L11 ruling already boards for the class.
