IS ABSENT FROM THAT EXEMPLAR LIST FOR A DECLARED REASON, not because the bucket refuses it: the live

census buckets CR_0041 as AQUATIC on a substring match, and § 9 boards it.

THE STAGING, AND IT ADOPTS A LANDED PRECEDENT RATHER THAN MINTING A RULING. The spine carries this

animal as an ambient presence — "the Western Ghats elephant and macaque and Nilgiri fauna as ambient

presences" [CH_07.md:269] — while the row reads PERMITTED and the ruled state reads combat_facing

TRUE. That is the identical shape the director resolved at CH_10, and this sheet adopts the resolution

rather than re-litigating it [DIRECTOR_RULING_L13 RULING_3]:

ambient state — it calls, it feeds, it moves along the high line, and it is walked past.

they are inside it. (1) AN ATTACK on any animal in the troop. (2) THE INFANT SPACING — the gap the

females hold open around a carried infant, visible because they move to put bodies between before

anything else happens. (3) THE SLEEPING TREE at dusk — the one tree the troop occupies before dark,

which is occupied and obvious from below. (4) THE FEEDING BRANCH the resident male is holding.

no boss row and no scripted trigger is asked for or authored — Ch 7's combat routes are fixed at the

marma assassin, the Surapadman-class asura and the dvarapala trial [CH_07.md:252].

THE TAME GRADE HAS A VENUE HERE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE ARC. TAME is Chao-Garden passive-companion

eligible with bond-lite interaction filling the entry [T3_Creatures_Tameable:98, :116], and the

bond-lite tier's home is a trade compound's garden space [:128]. Ch 7 roots TWO compounds — Trade 3

Blacksmithing and Trade 4 Herbalism, "the first returnable rootedness" [CH_07.md:79, :285, :309] — so

at this node the grade is a relationship the chapter can consummate rather than defer. The tier still

has no registry home and § 9 re-boards that.

2. base_species

DERIVED FROM THE ANATOMY REFERENCE TABLE, NOT DECLARED INLINE. The per-archetype table is on disk and

covers this row by ARCHETYPE and by reference_taxon, so the doctrine's amended § 2.1 binds: the

block below is derived from ARBOREAL_PRIMATE.json § sub_plans.cercopithecoid and cites the path.

Where the bucket is silent the line is labelled INLINE_DECLARED.

sub-plan cercopithecoid, whose reference_taxon reads "Macaca, Papio, Semnopithecus" — this

genus by name.

only mammal in the table that walks in diagonal sequence, needing real IK on four grasping

end-effectors [§ one_line], at posture grade erect-limbed quadruped with full forelimb mobility

[§ posture_grade].

because the foot grasps and a primate rigged with a human foot cannot hold a branch; an opposable

pollex, short relative to the fingers; a clavicle PRESENT and load-bearing, so this shoulder is

strutted rather than slung; a tail present and long, used in balance; and the scapula LATERAL on

the ribcage, which is why the shoulder is built for fore-aft swing and not for overhead reach

[§ segments]. THE BRACHIATOR INHERITANCE IS NOT TAKEN: a monkey's overhead reach is real but

LIMITED and it is the hominoid sub-plan that roughly doubles the abduction [§ joints.note].

degrees, abduction 0 to +110, axial rotation -60 to +60 [FLEAGLE2013, LARSON1998]; elbow flexion 0

to +145 with FULL pronosupination -80 to +90, the defining primate forelimb capability that

separates this plan from every other quadruped in the table [FLEAGLE2013]; hip flexion and

extension -30 to +120, abduction 0 to +60, axial rotation -45 to +45; knee 0 to +140; first

metatarsophalangeal (hallux) abduction 0 to +60 and flexion and extension -40 to +30, the grasping

axis without which there is no arboreal locomotion [SCHULTZ1963, FLEAGLE2013].

jaw, with clavicle → scapula → humerus → radius and ulna → carpus → five hand-digit chains and

femur → tibia → tarsus → hallux plus four foot-digit chains, and tail_00 off the pelvis

[§ skeleton].

at least 2, clavicle_L and clavicle_R REQUIRED, opposable hallux required, gait sequence

diagonal, bilateral symmetry required [§ rig_conformance].

why a langur built on a dog's lateral-sequence cycle reads subtly wrong; duty factor 0.5 to 0.75

[CARTMILL2002, HILDEBRAND2001]. The clip set is named against Hunt et al. 1996: quadrupedal walk

and run, vertical climb, leap, suspensory arm-swing, sit, squat, bipedal stand [HUNT1996].

DESIGN under the region page's declared sourcing gap [south_india.md:217-221]: the tail is longer

than the head-and-body and is carried in a raised loop or high arc clear of the back line; the hind

limbs are longer than the fore, so the standing hip sits at or above the shoulder; the stomach is a

sacculated leaf-fermenting one, which is the mechanism the whole § 4 ladder rests on; the leap is

the animal's real long-distance gait between canopy gaps and it lands hands-first; and the

open-mouth threat with the brow raised is a display and not a bite.

envelope, and what a live animal reaches under its own power is smaller by an amount the sources do

not separate [§ unmeasured].

line with no single centre to read, and it crosses open ground on the diagonal walk rather than in

the canopy when the canopy runs out.

above the shoulder, and a tail longer than the animal leaving the body UPWARD in a loop.

3. lore_source

folklore_attribution_source are both EMPTY, and ontology_class is ORDINARY_FAUNA. There is no

tradition to embody because the row asserts none.

cultural_significance reads "Siddha-tradition sacred monkey" and its canon home is the tameable

doc's Ch-07 catalog line, which reads in full: "Siddha-tradition sacred monkey populations —

*Semnopithecus entellus*, *Macaca radiata*" [T3_Creatures_Tameable:378]. That is the whole of it.

NO SRC_ IN THIS CORPUS REACHES THE CLAIM and south_india.md § 3 authors none, so this sheet

CARRIES the cell as canon and ASSERTS NOTHING FURTHER about what any tradition holds about this

animal — no veneration practice, no temple role, no observance, no name in any language. § 9 boards

the provenance for a region-page § 3 authoring pass, which is where the tameable doc's own

cross-ref sends it.

Zarrilli, *When the Body Becomes All Eyes* — resolves in T0_Source_Material_Registry and matches

145 times in south_india.md. The page's whole SRC_ set is SRC_00262, SRC_00224, SRC_00350,

SRC_00188, SRC_01903, SRC_00453 and SRC_00178 [south_india.md:1245-1253]. The matcher works.

the whole region page for langur, macaque and monkey returns exactly one hit: the Section-3 line

that CONSUMES the roster rows the spine already staged, naming "the gray langur (CR_0041,

*Semnopithecus entellus*) and the bonnet macaque (CR_0042, *Macaca radiata*)" and adding "No new CR_

row is minted here" [south_india.md:213-215]. Zero behavioural content, zero ecological content and

zero tradition content anywhere on the page for either primate.

The kalari's vadivu poses are named after animals and canon publishes TWO full rosters of them —

gajavadivu the elephant, simhavadivu the lion, asvavadivu the horse, varahavadivu the wild boar,

sarpavadivu the serpent, marjaravadivu the cat, kukkuvadivu the cock and matsyavadivu the fish, and

a second master's running horse, mayuravadivu the peacock, serpent, cock, elephant, cat, lion and

wild boar [south_india.md:227-232; :1356-1358; SRC_00262]. NO MONKEY POSE EXISTS IN EITHER ROSTER.

So the page's patient-observer reward — "the animals are in the world, the poses are in the pit"

[south_india.md:240-243] — reaches the elephant and the peacock and does NOT reach this animal, and

this sheet does not invent a pose to give it one. Its job in § 4 is a different one.

"the shelf carries NO zoological or ecological source for this region ... this page authors no

hunting mechanic, no habitat rule and no population claim. That is a sourcing gap, not a softening"

[south_india.md:217-221]. Every ethological line in §§ 2, 4 and 6 is therefore AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY —

general zoology carried as DESIGN, never as a claim of any source this region holds — and § 9

boards the acquisition by its real name.

4. elevation

ELEVATION IS REFUSED ON CANON RATHER THAN TASTE, in one line: this row's folklore columns are empty

and the chapter reserves stylization by name — "realistic-ethnographic for the Tamil and Malayali

communities, temples, forges, and kalari; mythologically-stylized only for the asura, the

pey/bhutam, and the dvarapala" [CH_07.md:271] — with the row's own mesh_tags.style reading

realistic-ethnographic. A supernatural monkey standing beside the one thing this chapter reserved

styling for is the Komodo defect inverted.

plainly: THE LEAF LADDER below is a set of states no species-typical photograph contains, and the

discharge is the contract and the ladder rather than a claim about what some individual photograph

might hold.

THE LEGIBILITY CONTRACT — the CH_07 primate pair

THE LEGIBILITY CONTRACT — the CH_07 primate pair, authored once and stated BYTE-IDENTICALLY on both

primate sheets (CR_0041 and CR_0042). It is silhouette-first, it is black-filled at the shipped combat

camera, and every ethological line in it is AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY under the region page's declared

sourcing gap [south_india.md:217-221].

THE SET THIS CONTRACT COVERS. Ch 7 rows exactly two primates — CR_0041 gray langur (*Semnopithecus

entellus*) and CR_0042 bonnet macaque (*Macaca radiata*), both TAME, both ORDINARY_FAUNA, both

PERMITTED, both named on the same region-page line [south_india.md:213-215] and both carried by the

spine as ambient presences [CH_07.md:269]. They are the chapter's only confusable pair AT GROUND

LEVEL AND IN DAYLIGHT, they share ground on the temple-city street frame and the Ghats, and no other

CH_07 mammal is within a body length of either. THAT QUALIFICATION IS LOAD-BEARING RATHER THAN

CAUTIOUS: at dusk and in a canopy the set is THREE, and the third animal is a bird. The roost case

below carries it.

THE TWO FINDERS, RANKED, AND ONLY THESE TWO FIND.

carried UP — a loop or a high arc that rises clear of the back line with the tip carried forward or

over. In black fill the animal is a body with a second line leaving it upward. Nothing else in this

chapter's silhouette set puts a line above its own topline.

of the crown into a flat parted cap that WIDENS THE HEAD OUTLINE past the skull — the feature the

animal is named for — and the tail is carried DOWN, hanging below the back line or trailing on the

stone. In black fill it is a compact body with a wide flat head and a line leaving it downward.

THE TWO CONFIRMS, WHICH CONFIRM AND NEVER FIND.

fore, so a standing animal's hip sits at or above its shoulder and the whole frame reads leggy; the

macaque is compact and stocky with the shoulder at or above the hip. It is a real difference and it

is a confirm because a crouched or seated animal loses it.

olive-brown to grey-brown with a pale face and no dark terminals. Colour is the last check and never

the first, on the stockings-rule precedent this lane already carries

[CR_0056_african_lion.md:232-235].

THE AMBIGUITY CASE INSIDE THE PAIR, NAMED RATHER THAN ASSUMED AWAY. A seated animal on a coping with

the tail hanging out of frame and the head turned away collapses both finders at once. THE RESOLVER

IS THE HEAD OUTLINE, because it is the one thing a seated pose keeps: the macaque's crown cap is a

flat radial widening of the skull line, and the langur's head is a round skull under a raised brow

fringe with no widening at all. THE DESIGN RULE that keeps a finder alive in every pose: a resting

langur's tail tip continues to move on a slow irregular beat while the body is still, so the raised

line is the last thing to go quiet.

THE DUSK ROOST CASE, WHICH IS THE ONE PLACE THIS SET IS THREE ANIMALS AND NOT TWO, CARRIED HERE FROM

THE BIRD'S OWN SHEET SO THE TWO CONTRACTS CANNOT CONTRADICT EACH OTHER

[CR_0039_indian_peafowl.md:253-259]. At dusk CR_0039 Indian peafowl fly heavily up into tall trees

and sit as large dark masses in a canopy, and in black fill that is the same read as a troop of

either primate settling for the night. THE FIRST RESOLVER IS THE LINE UNDER THE BRANCH: a roosting

peacock's train hangs BELOW the branch as one long straight PENDANT that hangs still, which neither

primate draws — the langur's line leaves the body UPWARD, and the macaque's long tail hangs from the

BODY and follows the body's outline instead of dropping clear of the branch as a still straight line,

and it keeps moving where the train hangs dead — and a roosting peahen, which

has no train at all, still carries the CREST as a fine broken spray against the sky where either

primate's outline carries a round skull. THE SECOND RESOLVER IS ARRIVAL, and it is the one a player

sees before the shapes are even settled: a peafowl reaches height in ONE heavy noisy climbing

flight, and a primate reaches it by WALKING — up a trunk and along branches on the Ghats, up a wall

and along a coping in the street.

AGAINST THE PRIMATES A PLAYER HAS ALREADY MET, WHICH IS A MEMORY DISCRIMINATION AND NOT AN IN-FRAME

ONE, AND THE CONTRACT SAYS WHICH. No prior-chapter primate shares ground with these two — the roster

seats them in other regions entirely — so the question is never "which of the two in this frame" but

"have I seen this animal before", and the answer is stated for each.

THE HONEST ANSWER IS THAT SILHOUETTE DOES NOT SEPARATE THEM. Same genus, same long raised tail,

same long hind limbs; a black-fill test returns one shape for both. THE RESOLVER IS TONE AND GROUND

USE, declared as such: CR_0032 is the dark-coated animal the roster carries as an arboreal primate

[@ CR_0032 :: notes] on Sri Lankan wet-zone ground, where its own region page rides it in the

page's own words as one of the region's "ambient presences" [sri_lanka.md:286-288]; the canopy is

this sheet's word and not the page's. CR_0041 is the pale grey-buff animal that works

OPEN STONE and dry ground as readily as canopy. A dark langur in a wet canopy is the one the player

met at Ch 6; a pale langur sitting on dressed granite in the sun is this chapter's.

*Macaca fascicularis*, and CR_0003 is the roster's single dex species entry for the binomial

[@ CR_0140 :: notes]. THE RESOLVER IS THE CROWN: that animal carries its crown hair swept BACK

into a crest with cheek whiskers framing the face, and its tail is longer than its body. This

chapter's macaque carries a radial whorl cap parted across the crown instead. Crest-back against

cap-flat is the read and it survives black fill on the head outline alone. The landed sheet's own

resting read for that cohort is a compact seated primate on a balustrade coping with the tail

hanging as a long line below the stonework [CR_0140_long_tailed_macaque.md:88-89], and this contract

contradicts none of it.

table's hominoid sub-plan carries no tail at all and a dorsally-placed scapula that buys overhead

reach [ARBOREAL_PRIMATE.json § sub_plans.hominoid]. A body with no line leaving it in either

direction is neither of these two.

THE STATE LADDER — A5 age and state, the primary axis

the mechanism is the sacculated leaf-fermenting stomach declared in § 2: a gut built to ferment

leaf does not process prepared human food the way a macaque's does. So provisioning writes SICKNESS

on this animal where it writes CONDITION on its neighbour, and the ladder has three rungs.

coat is clean and lying flat, the belly is tight, the palm and foot pads are matte and split from

bark, and the flight distance is a full one.

the coat, pads beginning to polish on dressed granite, and a flight distance that has shortened

to arm's length.

skin instead of lying, slow movement, and animals sitting on the ground at midday when a healthy

troop is up. It is the visible cost of a kindness, and it is the reason a player learns not to

feed this one.

THE CROSS-CREATURE LESSON, NAMED AND STATED ON BOTH PRIMATE SHEETS: THE SAME PROVISIONING WRITES

OPPOSITE STATES ON THE TWO BODIES — the macaque grows heavier and glossier on human surplus and the

langur grows sick on it. One street, two animals, two directions, and the player who watches learns

more about the place from that than from any codex line.

the heaviest animal and the one that displays; the ALL-MALE BAND is a loose group of lighter,

scarred, unsettled animals holding the edge of the resident's ground; the FEMALES WITH INFANTS move

as a knot and it is the knot that closes when anything approaches; the OLD FEMALE is thin, pale to

near-white at the crown and shoulders, and she is the animal that calls first.

DARK against a pale troop and it lightens toward the adult grey through its first year, so the

darkest animal in a pale group is the youngest one and it is always inside the knot.

troop carries is leaf, bark strip and a green stain at the hands; what a fed troop carries is the

craft street's own spill — and the page authorizes exactly three plant contents, "the oils, the herb

bag and the tamarind" [south_india.md:204-205], so a tamarind pod in a langur's hand is a cited

object and nothing else is proposed.

PRIMARY — A5 AGE AND STATE, the ladder above. SUPPORTING — A9 THE MARK, and it is THE BLACK MASK: a

face that is a hard black oval on a pale grey-buff animal, high-contrast at any range and lit or

unlit. One mark and no second — the black hands and feet CONFIRM it and are never counted as marks of

their own, because a creature carrying three marks carries none [doctrine § 2.3 A9].

ONE-LINE READ: a leggy pale monkey with a black face and a tail longer than itself carried up over

its own back.

THE JOB, AND IT IS WHY THIS ROW EARNS A SHEET. THE LANGUR IS THE CHAPTER'S FREE EARLY WARNING.

The Western Ghats carry two DANGEROUS rows the player cannot see coming — CR_0037 Bengal tiger, the

Nilgiri population, and CR_0038 Indian leopard, both combat_permission PERMITTED — and a troop

holding the high line sees a cat on the ground before any person does. When the troop goes up, goes

loud and turns every head the same way, the DIRECTION is the readout, and a player who learns to

watch the monkeys gets the cat before the cat gets them. This is the residents-leave shape the lane

established on CR_0005 at the Ch-2 fed spring and re-ran inside a stone city on CR_0140

[CR_0140_long_tailed_macaque.md:163-171], repeated deliberately in a third medium.

THE DISCRIMINATOR FOR THAT SHAPE, RULED AND STATED IDENTICALLY ON BOTH PRIMATE SHEETS: **A GREEN READ

ANSWERS TO A CAT AND A STONE READ ANSWERS TO A PERSON.** This troop's alarm answers to a predator on

the ground in the Ghats and NEVER to a person in the street; CR_0042's street troop answers to a

person and never to a cat. One shape, two answers, and the medium the animal is standing in is the

tell that keeps them apart — the same construction CR_0140 used for water against stone.

EMISSION: none. The animal reads by being lit — hard plain light on a pale coat with a black hole

where the face is, wetting-darkening in monsoon, and occlusion against the canopy.

5. articulation_delta

additions to the body, so the blob test has nothing bolted on to name.

body, it carries the animal's raised-loop silhouette, and its last joints run on an idle twitch

clock independent of the tail's own sway so the finder survives every pose including full rest.

those three parameters ARE the leaf ladder. It changes ROM nowhere and the read at every distance.

fed animal and a crest animal are one asset at two values.

and polished on dressed granite — never new geometry.

real physical properties, never painted texture, because a taken thing has to be droppable.

6. fight_grammar

combat_facing is TRUE and combat_permission is PERMITTED, and everything below is INSIDE

ENGAGEMENT, which is player-opened by the adopted precedent named in § 1. Outside engagement this

block stages the free lesson only — the alarm, which is a navigation instrument and not a threat.

THE ENCOUNTER VERBS, WITH THEIR PROVENANCE SPLIT, because this row carries no boss row and no

attack-rail rows. WARN and DISPLAY DERIVE from cells — collect_verb DOCUMENT with

dex_completion_class OBSERVATION_CHAIN describes an animal whose entry is filled by watching, and

trophic_role herbivore describes a body with no predatory verb at all. COMMIT is THIS SHEET'S MINT,

coined for the one shape below that makes contact, and § 7's invention declaration names it.

PART ECONOMY HOME: NONE, declared affirmatively. No region of this body is a breakable part;

there is no vehicle, machinery, equipment, architecture, restorative or surface economy on this row,

and the sheet says so rather than leaving the block thin [doctrine § 2.4].

street or under the canopy. BREATH: the open-mouth threat with the brow raised, held rather than

flashed. VOCALIZATION: the chorus turns — the loud whoop aimed AWAY at whatever the troop was

reading becomes a harsh short bark aimed AT the player, and the direction of the sound is the change.

NEW OPENER: after escalation the opener is the ground descent and no longer the alarm. Two of the

four survive black fill.

OPENER AND VARIANTS: the root is THE ALARM, the most legible and least punishing thing the troop

does, and it costs nothing to obey. Its variants share the origin and lengthen from it — the branch

shake is the alarm aimed downward by one animal, the ground descent is the same attention with the

height given up, the lunge-and-stop is the descent spent forward with the grip kept, and the

committed bite-run is the same line with the grip released. Teaching order is watch, step out, give

ground, hold, and then move.

RELOCATION AND TURF. The troop owns the HIGH LINE and it uses the architecture's and the canopy's own

routes rather than the player's: the crest canopy and the gully edges on the Ghats flank

[EG_0090], and in the city the coping, lintel and roof line of the ringed street frame [EG_0078]

and of the STANDARD-TIER CRAFT-STREET FRONTAGE the two trade homes open onto [EG_0093]. THE GROUND

IT CONTESTS IS THE CRAFT STREET AND THE HIGH LINE IT TRAVELS IS THE PRECINCT'S, and the split is the

same one the sibling sheet makes: EG_0078 is the protected precinct frame the troop MOVES ALONG, and

EG_0093 — the one Ch-7 zone marked protected false and care_tier standard — is the frontage it

actually holds and contests. It leaves a stretch of street or a stretch of canopy upward and it

returns within the beat, so the ground changes character while the player watches. It has a SLEEPING

TREE it occupies before dark and it is in the same place every night, which is the one piece of this

animal's turf a player can plan around.

THE TAME LOOP, BUILT. The seven-non-combat-observation chain is the completionist path

[T3_Creatures_Tameable:114] and bond-lite interaction fills the entry [:98, :116]. The approach is a

chain of correct reads and it is deliberately the opposite of feeding: hold the distance the edge

troop has already shortened, sit below the line rather than under it, let the resident male finish

the branch shake without answering it, and offer nothing — because the leaf ladder makes feeding the

one action that visibly damages the animal, and a player who works that out has learned the chapter's

lesson about care in one object. Ch 7 roots the Blacksmithing and Herbalism home bases [CH_07.md:79,

:285], so a bond-lite companion earned here has a compound garden to live in

[T3_Creatures_Tameable:128] — and a leaf-eater in the HERBALISM compound is a husbandry problem with

its own answer, which is the venue the arc has been deferring. THE ANIMAL COMMUNICATION GATE IS NAMED

HONESTLY: a mid-tier mammal responds at Theoricus through Practicus [:149], CH_07.md:281 records a

per-capability Neophyte floor and states no trade tier, so the route is designed and its gate named

rather than asserted. § 9 boards it.

THE HUNT LOOP DOES NOT REACH THIS ROW AND THE SHEET SAYS SO ON THE LICENCE RATHER THAN ON TASTE. The

loop runs to QUARRY-status species and PERMITTED DANGEROUS-status species [T3_Creatures_Tameable:118];

this row is TAME and PERMITTED, which is not that pair, and rng_drop_anchor is EMPTY. Killing one

remains PERMITTED with the world-rule cost in § 7; what does not exist is a harvest surface, and this

ORDINARY_FAUNA carries no collective claim and a lane must not re-apply collective protection to

game animals. The § 17.1 protection live in this chapter is about PEOPLE: combat routes only

against the corrupted marma-assassin, the tradition's own condemned asura and the dvarapala trial,

"never the Tamil or Malayali communities, the Siddha tradition, and the temple and its

practitioners" [CH_07.md:252; T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0003, @ HL_0123]. Nothing in this sheet puts a

person anywhere near a target position.

READING. cultural_significance reads "Siddha-tradition sacred monkey" and a lane could read that

as protection; the row's cultural_care_register answers it in its own words: "PERMITTED with a
