THE ROW IS THE MAINLAND SOUTH-INDIAN POPULATION AND THE ROSTER'S OTHER ELEPHANTS ARE NOT IT. Six

elephant rows live in this roster and ROW IS THE UNIT: CR_0145 is the Angkor war-and-temple cohort of

*E. maximus* (CH_05, TAME), CR_0036 is the Sri Lankan *E. maximus maximus* cohort (CH_06, OBSERVE,

familiar_cross_ref "Muthu G2 — non-Muthu cohort"), CR_0062 is the African savanna body (CH_10,

TAME), CR_0074 the African forest body, CR_0114 the Ch-16 continuity row. Nothing is imported from

any of them. What IS carried, deliberately and by citation, is the elephant grammar those sheets

already landed — the two charge shapes and the musth escalation — because teaching one read once and

reusing it across the arc is the point [CR_0062_african_bush_elephant.md:279-283].

THE STAGING, AND IT ADOPTS A LANDED PRECEDENT RATHER THAN MINTING A RULING. The spine carries

this animal as an ambient presence — "the Western Ghats elephant and macaque and Nilgiri fauna as

ambient presences" [CH_07.md:269] — while the row reads PERMITTED and the ruled state reads

combat_facing TRUE. That is the identical shape the director resolved at CH_10, and this sheet

adopts the resolution rather than re-litigating it [DIRECTOR_RULING_L13 RULING_3]:

ambient state — it is present, it is walked past, it is watched.

they are inside one. (1) AN ATTACK on any animal in the group. (2) THE WORKING LINE — the ground

between an attended animal and its keeper, which is a walked lane with a person standing in it.

(3) THE COW-AND-CALF SPACING in the Ghats, which is the gap the herd itself keeps open around a

calf and closes when it is crossed. (4) THE MUSTH BULL'S GROUND, whose edge is announced on four

channels before it is anywhere near reached (§ 6).

scripted trigger, beat or boss row is asked for or authored — Ch 7's combat routes are fixed at

the marma assassin, the Surapadman-class asura and the dvarapala trial [CH_07.md:252].

THE TAME GRADE FINALLY HAS A VENUE, AND THIS IS THE CHAPTER THAT GIVES IT ONE. TAME is Chao-Garden

passive-companion eligible with bond-lite interaction filling the entry [T3_Creatures_Tameable:98,

:116], and the bond-lite tier's home is a trade compound's garden space [:128]. Every prior TAME

sheet in this program had to record that its chapter rooted no compound. Ch 7 roots TWO — Trade 3

Blacksmithing and Trade 4 Herbalism, "the first returnable rootedness" [CH_07.md:79, :285, :309] —

so at this node the grade is a relationship the chapter can actually consummate. The tier still has

no registry home and § 9 re-boards that.

2. base_species

DERIVED FROM THE ANATOMY REFERENCE TABLE WHERE IT REACHES, per the amended doctrine § 2.1, and INLINE

ONLY WHERE NO SUB-PLAN COVERS THE ARCHETYPE — said affirmatively.

NONE COVERS IT

defining sentence covers this animal — a mammal that carries its limbs UNDER the body and swings

them in the sagittal plane, at posture grade erect / parasagittal [§ one_line, § posture_grade]

— and rig conformance binds at a minimum 34 deform bones, a spine chain of 5 to 24, two forelimb

and two hindlimb chains of at least 4 bones each, bilateral symmetry required [§ rig_conformance].

The live census does bucket this row QUADRUPED, so the archetype line is the census's own and not

an inference.

the bucket publishes no archetype-level skeleton, mirror rule or joint roster and both sub-plans

sit below that line: the clavicle is vestigial or absent and the forelimb hangs in a MUSCULAR SLING,

making the SCAPULOTHORACIC a synsarcosis with no bony joint, the scapula sliding on the ribcage

through ±25 degrees protraction and retraction and ±15 rotation, so a rig that parents the humerus

straight to the spine loses the whole first third of the stride [DYCE2010, SISSON1975]; the chain

shape root → pelvis → spine_lumbar → spine_thoracic → spine_cervical → head → jaw with scapula →

humerus → radioulna → carpus → metacarpus → digits and femur → tibia → tarsus → metatarsus → toes,

every _L bone carrying an identical _R sibling; and MAMMALIAN SPINES BEND SAGITTALLY AND NOT

LATERALLY. Carried as BOUNDS is the table's own discipline where a reference taxon is substituted,

and the two landed elephant sheets apply it identically [CR_0062_african_bush_elephant.md:103-116].

foot with five fore and four hind digits is the one part of the plan a graviportal body contradicts

outright.

carnivoran_digitigrade (digitigrade, reference taxon *Canis lupus familiaris*) and

ungulate_unguligrade (metacarpus reduced to a cannon bone, a pastern chain, one to two

weight-bearing digits). A search across all eight archetype files and ANATOMY_REFERENCE.md

returns no elephant, no proboscidean, no graviportal posture grade and nothing whatever on a trunk.

§ 9 re-boards the debt as its third instance.

COLUMNAR limbs stacked near-vertical over a fibrous digital cushion with the digits spread on it,

no cannon bone and no pastern chain; a cervical chain held SHORT AND THICK so the head turns with

the body rather than on the neck; 19 to 20 thoracic and 3 to 4 lumbar vertebrae under a topline

that PEAKS AT THE HEAD and dips behind the shoulder before rising at the hips; a TRUNK of no bones

— a muscular hydrostat with bend, twist and elongation available at any point along its length,

carrying ONE dorsal finger at the tip; an EAR that pivots roughly a quarter turn at its base and

does not reach above the neckline; upper incisors grown out as tusks that advance from the socket

through life; and six molar sets that erupt and are pushed forward one at a time, the sixth being

the animal's own clock.

HAS NO TUSKS. On *Elephas maximus* THE TUSK IS THE BULL'S. A cow carries at most TUSHES — short

vestigial upper incisors that do not clear the lip line and are effectively absent from any

silhouette — so a tusk pair is a sex read before it is anything else. And a real proportion of

mainland South-Indian bulls are MAKHNA: tuskless bulls at full bull mass, with bull head, bull

temporal glands, bull musth and no tusk line at all. Both statements are general zoology carried as

DESIGN under § 3's declared sourcing gap, they are stated INSIDE this row, and they leave the § 4

refusal of tusk INCIDENCE as a Ceylon-against-mainland cohort discriminator exactly where it is.

goniometry measures the PASSIVE envelope, and what a live animal reaches under its own power is

smaller by an amount the sources do not separate [QUADRUPED.json § unmeasured]. The limbs swing

in a narrow sagittal arc with almost no lateral reach, so a turn is a WALKED turn of the whole

body — which is the single fact the temple-street staging in § 6 is built on.

[CR_0145_asian_elephant_angkor.md:86-87] and it is inherited unchanged as a species figure; within

it the sexes separate, and this sheet declares roughly THREE TO FIVE TONNES for a bull against

roughly 2.7 for a cow (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY under § 3's sourcing gap), because a single band across

both sexes is what makes the § 4 scale confirm read stronger than it is. Four columns, and the gait

carries NO SUSPENDED PHASE at any speed, which is why a charging elephant is quiet underfoot and

arrives faster than it looks. height_m and length_axis are EMPTY on the row and § 9 boards them.

rising at the hips; two ear planes held inside the neck line; a trunk to the ground. THE HEAD ABOVE

THE LINE IS THIS SPECIES' READ and it is CR_0145's landed one for *E. maximus*

[CR_0145_asian_elephant_angkor.md:88-89]; the saddled, shoulder-high, head-low topline belongs to

the African body and is not borrowed [CR_0062_african_bush_elephant.md:145-151].

3. lore_source

folklore_attribution_source are both EMPTY. What the row carries instead is a HISTORY OF HUMAN

RELATIONSHIP, and every clause of it is cited below or declared uncited.

*When the Body Becomes All Eyes* — resolves in T0_Source_Material_Registry and matches 145 times

in south_india.md, including on the elephant paragraph itself at :251. The page's whole SRC_ set

is SRC_00262, SRC_00224, SRC_00350, SRC_00188, SRC_01903, SRC_00453 and SRC_00178

[south_india.md:1245-1253]. The matcher works; what it reaches on this animal is exactly one belief,

quoted below, and nothing else.

The record carries a craft belief that ivory must be taken from a living elephant to hold its life

force and be usable in ritual work, offered there as an analogy for why a martial form must be made

to its own proportions [south_india.md:249-251; SRC_00262]. The page's own ruling stands and this

sheet does not touch it: the belief is carried as an attested statement of how a master reasons

about form and life force, "it opens no ivory economy, no harvest surface and no hunt of a protected

species, and the elephant remains a keystone, a temple presence and Pandian the mahout's charge

(CHAR_0053)" [south_india.md:252-254].

the vadivu, are named after animals and are configurations of movement embodying the outer and inner

essence of the animal named, each with offensive and defensive application; one documented roster

runs GAJAVADIVU THE ELEPHANT first, with lion, horse, wild boar, serpent, cat, cock and fish, and a

second master's roster carries the elephant too [south_india.md:227-232; SRC_00262]. The reasoning

is stated as OBSERVATION: when any animal fights it uses its whole body, and only a person who has

learned the eight poses goes on to the law of the kalari, to bare-hand combat, to weapons, to

massage, or to applications at the vital spots [south_india.md:233-235; SRC_00262]. And the page

states the design consequence in its own words: "the animals are in the world, the poses are in the

pit, and a player who watches the real bird before drilling the form reads the form's logic instead

of memorizing it" [south_india.md:240-243].

of a mahout lineage, in a regional dialect deliberately distinct from the previous chapter's mahout"

[south_india.md:898-899; CH_07.md:236, :287]. The protocol itself is canon at the familiar tier —

Muthu's approach mechanic is "specific vocalization plus positioning plus approach sequence", taught

at Ch 6 by Mahout Bandula [T3_Familiars_Named:424].

— IT IS LEFT WHERE CANON PUT IT. The Ch-6 page carries the seventeenth-century capture record in

full (tame she-elephants driven to the herd to draw the bulls; the crown wanting the tusked males,

which are few) and rules that the bond runs "through the mahout's relationship protocol — the water

route, the daily river bathing, the reading of the animal's own signs — and never through the

kraal", with the capture record carried in that page's Section-18 colonial-and-kingdom window "as

documented history with its full weight" [sri_lanka.md:247-262; SRC_00237]. This sheet neither

relocates that history nor repeats it: Ch 7 shows the working relationship, Ch 6 holds the capture

record, and no softening happens in either direction.

"Ganesha-adjacent; cross-cultural sacred" and its canon home is the tameable doc's Ch-07 catalog —

"Indian elephant (*Elephas maximus indicus*) — Ganesha-adjacent tradition. Cross-cultural sacred.

TAME at bond-lite" [T3_Creatures_Tameable:377]. No SRC_ in this corpus reaches that claim, so this

sheet CARRIES the cell as canon and ASSERTS NOTHING FURTHER about what any tradition holds. § 9

boards the provenance.

"the shelf carries NO zoological or ecological source for this region ... this page authors no

hunting mechanic, no habitat rule and no population claim. That is a sourcing gap, not a softening"

[south_india.md:217-221]. Every ethological line in §§ 4 and 6 is therefore AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY —

general zoology carried as DESIGN, never as a claim of any source this region holds — and the

acquisition is boarded in § 9 by its real name.

4. elevation

ELEVATION IS REFUSED ON CANON RATHER THAN TASTE, in one line: the folklore columns are empty and

the chapter reserves stylization by name — "realistic-ethnographic for the Tamil and Malayali

communities, temples, forges, and kalari; mythologically-stylized only for the asura, the

pey/bhutam, and the dvarapala" [CH_07.md:271] — with the row's own mesh_tags.style reading

realistic-ethnographic. A supernatural elephant in the chapter whose care architecture rests on the

asura being the tradition's own condemned demon is the Komodo defect inverted.

plainly: the ATTENDED-AND-WILD LADDER and the OUTLIVED CLOCK are states a species-typical photograph

does not contain, and the discharge is the contract and the ladder rather than a claim about what

some individual photograph might hold.

THE LEGIBILITY CONTRACT — the cohort read, and it is this chapter's own problem

THE FINDER AGAINST EVERYTHING THAT IS NOT AN ELEPHANT IS THE MASS, and it is spent by class fact

rather than re-derived: this is the only body in the chapter that is more animal than daylight, on

four columns that close the gaps every other body leaves open. Nothing else in the CH_07 roster

resolves to it at any range — the Bengal tiger and the Indian leopard are low horizontals on flexed

limbs, the peafowl and the cobra are not in the size class, and the two primates are a twentieth of

the height. No finder is owed there and none is spent.

THE CONTRACT THAT IS OWED IS THE COHORT ONE, AND IT IS LOAD-BEARING BECAUSE THE PLAYER WALKS WITH THE

OTHER SUBSPECIES. Muthu (G2, *Elephas maximus maximus*) bonded at Ch 6 and travels through this

chapter at the protagonist's own shoulder [CH_07.md:21, :286; T3_Familiars_Named:410]. The wild and

attended animals of Ch 7 are *Elephas maximus indicus* [@ CR_0040 :: scientific_name]. Two

subspecies of one species in one frame is exactly where a pipeline builds one asset twice, and the

discrimination is CITED TO CANON'S OWN APPEARANCE LINE rather than invented:

than mainland Asian elephants. Larger proportional ears. Approximately forty years old at bond"

[T3_Familiars_Named:418]. Canon names three axes and this contract uses those three and no others.

animal's is proportionally LARGER; a mainland bull's is proportionally SMALLER against the same

head. It survives black fill because it is an outline and not a colour, and it is the only cohort

axis canon gives that does.

at the shoulder and five tonnes [T3_Familiars_Named:418]. The inherited two-to-four-tonne figure is

CR_0145's WHOLE-SPECIES band [CR_0145_asian_elephant_angkor.md:86-87]; the band this sheet declares

for the mainland animal is roughly three to five tonnes for a bull and roughly 2.7 for a cow (§ 2,

AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY). So the mainland bull reads SHORTER AND LIGHTER ON AVERAGE, and a large mainland

bull can meet Muthu at the top of that band. Scale is a confirm, never the finder.

the mainland animal reads the paler grey. Colour is the last check, never the first — the

stockings-rule precedent this lane already carries [CR_0056_african_lion.md:232-235].

touches elephant tusk incidence is the Ch-6 capture record, and it is a seventeenth-century

statement about the CEYLON herds — the crown wanted the tusked males, "which are few"

[sri_lanka.md:249-251; SRC_00237]. There is no mainland counterpart anywhere in this corpus, and

inverting a Ceylon record into a mainland claim would be writing appearance against a real

subspecies from a guess. That is the withdrawn-ear-set class the L13 wave paid for once

[DIRECTOR_RULING_L13 RULING_7, the CR_0051/Desta item], and this sheet does not repeat it. Tusks

are used only WITHIN this row, as an individual age-and-wear read.

CLAIMED AS A MARK. THE TWIN-DOMED FOREHEAD: *Elephas maximus* carries two bosses on the frontal

with a shallow midline groove between them, and at distance that double dome is the STRONGEST

HEAD-OUTLINE READ this body has — it says Asian elephant before ear proportion, scale or tone can

be judged, and it survives black fill because it is a profile and not a colour. It is offered as

the species read at range and never as the cohort discriminator, which stays the ear proportion.

THE DEPIGMENTATION PATCHES: *E. m. maximus* commonly carries pale pink-mottled depigmentation on

the ear margins, the face and the trunk, which the mainland animal carries far less of — so at

CLOSE RANGE the bonded Sri Lankan body shows patterned pale skin against the mainland bull's even

grey. That STRENGTHENS the tone confirm canon already gives (the darker Sri Lankan body) and it

obeys the same rule: it is a confirm at conversation distance and never a finder.

CLAUSE RIDES A LINE THAT DOES NOT CARRY IT. CR_0145 is the same species and this sheet inherits two

reads from it unchanged — the head ABOVE the topline and the ONE dorsal trunk finger

[CR_0145_asian_elephant_angkor.md:78-89]. THE EAR CLAUSE CITES THE CONTRAST INSTEAD: the African

ear is the one "whose plane is the largest of any living animal, reaching above the neckline"

[CR_0062_african_bush_elephant.md:132-133], so this ear staying INSIDE the neck line is the

declared inverse of a cited claim. That it also FRAMES THE EYE is AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY on this sheet

rather than an inheritance, and it is labelled rather than carried on CR_0145's line.

CR_0062 inverts all three and this sheet borrows none of it: that body is shoulder-highest and

head-low, its trunk carries two opposed fingers, and its ear reaches above the neckline

[CR_0062_african_bush_elephant.md:126-135]. THE THREE ELEPHANT SHEETS ALSO SPEND THREE DIFFERENT

MARKS, deliberately: CR_0145's is the tusk pair inverting between worked and free, CR_0062's is the

torn ear margin carrying individual identity, and this one's is the ear PROPORTION carrying the

cohort. No mark is spent twice.

THE STATE LADDER — A5 age and state, the primary axis

daily river bathing [sri_lanka.md:257-259], so the attended elephant of the temple complex is the

only elephant in the arc the player meets WET: near-black and running at the morning hour, every

skin seam clean of dust, drying pale grey toward midday with a tide line where the water stopped.

MECHANISM: elephant skin is thick, deeply seamed and dust-holding, and a seam that has just been

washed holds water where a dry one holds grit. This is deliberately NOT CR_0145's quarry-grit

worked bull — that animal is the colour of the monument it is building

[CR_0145_asian_elephant_angkor.md:141-145] — because this one hauls no stone and its work is

attendance.

flanks, since the Ghats ground is laterite and monsoon gully by the environment layer's own material

gift [EG_0090 ambient_state_gift material:laterite; south_india.md:149], near-black and wet

under the crest canopy in monsoon, no washed tide line, no polished band anywhere, and the flight

distance of an animal that has never been within reach of a person.

and last molar set wears out and it can no longer mill its food (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY); a temple

complex with a keeper and cut fodder feeds an animal past that line. Deep temporal hollows, a

collapsed cheek, ribs legible on a well-fed frame, tusks longer than any free bull carries because

nothing stopped them advancing, and softened cut fodder at the edge of frame. The reading underneath

it — that a relationship outlasts the animal's own biology — is DESIGN-LAYER ONLY and is never

spoken by an NPC, never a codex line and never a player-facing frame.

life and wear asymmetrically because an animal favours one side, so on a TUSKED BULL the

longer-and-blunter pair is the older animal and a snapped tusk carries a history and does not grow

back straight. Per § 2 that read reaches tusked bulls alone — a cow's tushes never clear the lip

line and a makhna has nothing to read — so the ladder owes everyone else its own clock, below.

NEW STRUCTURE. THE TEMPORAL HOLLOWS deepen with the years and are the outlived clock's own first

sign. THE MOLAR CLOCK is the real one: six sets erupt and are pushed forward one at a time and the

sixth is the animal's own clock [§ 2], and it reads on the OUTSIDE as a collapsing cheek line, a

slower and longer feed, and condition falling on a well-fed frame. THE EAR MARGIN frays, notches

and thins along its trailing edge with age — the same feature CR_0062 spends as its individual

mark, used here only as an age confirm so no mark is spent twice. All three read on any sex,

including the tusked bull, which makes them the primary clock and the tusk pair a bull-only

shortcut.

AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY). A tuskless bull at full bull mass: the bull's head, the bull's temporal glands,

the bull's musth cycle, the bull's ground — and no tusk line anywhere in the silhouette. It earns

a rung twice over. A lane that reads "no tusks" as "cow" hands the player the wrong animal and the

wrong engagement envelope, since a makhna in musth is § 6's most dangerous state wearing the

outline of its least. And the mesh family needs the state declared or it ships tusks as though they

were skeleton rather than a parameter (§ 5).

ANIMAL THE CORPUS ITSELF ATTESTS. The Ch-6 record notes it without naming it: an oil runs from the

cheeks, and on that sign the keepers chain the animal fast to great trees, use no medicine, do not

treat it as sickness, and the females are never subject to it [sri_lanka.md:251-253; SRC_00237].

The design read is identical on both landed elephant sheets and is carried unchanged

[CR_0145_asian_elephant_angkor.md:212-216; CR_0062_african_bush_elephant.md:279-283]. A player who

learned this sign one chapter ago reads it here on a different subspecies and it means the same

thing, which is what a cross-creature lesson is for.

PRIMARY — A5 AGE AND STATE, the ladder above. SUPPORTING — A9 THE MARK, and it is THE EAR PROPORTION

spent as the cohort read, one feature and no second. MECHANISM: the ear is a thin vascular membrane

whose size is a real subspecific difference canon states in its own words, and a proportion reads

only when two bodies share a frame — which is why this mark exists in exactly one chapter of the arc,

the one that walks a bonded *maximus* past wild *indicus* kin.

ONE-LINE READ: an elephant carrying its head above its own back line, smaller and smaller-eared than

the one walking beside you, wearing the morning's water instead of the day's dust.
