**THE SIGN DISCRIMINATION, RULED ON THIS SHEET'S FACE — THE MYTH IS ON THE INDIVIDUAL AND ON THE

MOMENT, NEVER ON THE SPECIES' ANATOMY.** The chapter's myth is explicit and this sheet builds it

exactly once: "the demon, splitting as he fell, became the peacock the god rides and the bird on his

banner" [CH_07.md:31], and at the summit "a peacock, the very sign of that ancient defeat, takes their

measure" [CH_07.md:31; :174-178]. That summit bird is PARAVANI, the F2 familiar, "born of the split

asura" and named for the peacock MOUNT rather than for the deity, which is the ruled §17.1 fix

[CH_07.md:175; :335]. The row this sheet owns is the OTHER thing: "the wild peafowl cohort is CR_0039"

[south_india.md:247], and it is the population Paravani is one of.

row's folklore_behavior_substrate and folklore_attribution_source are both EMPTY; its

ontology_class is ORDINARY_FAUNA; its mesh_tags.style reads realistic-ethnographic; and the

chapter's own asset anchor reserves the other register by name — "mythologically-stylized only for

the asura, the pey/bhutam, and the dvarapala" [CH_07.md:271]. A supernatural peacock in the one

chapter whose care architecture depends on the asura being the mythologically-stylized thing is the

Komodo defect inverted, which is what doctrine § 3D was ratified to stop.

WHERE it is, WHEN it displays, and WHAT the player has learned to read by then — the peacock on the

abode hill after the demon is put down is the same body as the peacock in the temple street, and the

difference is entirely the chapter. § 6 builds that as a real read with a real reward.

Paravani's Crown-seat prerequisite ("Paravani will not approach protagonists without developed

crown-vril-seat activity ... the only familiar in the 22-slot architecture whose bond quest has a

vril-seat prerequisite"), the tail-train acceptance signal, and the five bond abilities are

T3_Familiars_Named § F2's and are cited here rather than re-derived. This sheet authors the

species; the FAM_16 sheet, when the familiar lane runs, authors the individual and re-derives its

bond ladder from that registry.

2. base_species

build/3d/schema/anatomy_reference/WINGED.json § sub_plans.avian. THE ROW IS COVERED TWICE OVER —

it is a member of the WINGED census bucket by id (creature_archetype_census.json § archetypes.WINGED,

32 rows, CR_0039 among them) and its archetype is the bucket's, so the doctrine's amended § 2.1

rules that it DERIVES from the bucket and cites the path. An inline AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY block on the

bone-and-joint layer would be a defect here.

census_defects — CR_0057 Cheetah ("bat" inside *Acinonyx jubatus*) and CR_0065 Blue wildebeest

("bee" inside "blue wildeBEEst") [WINGED.json § census_defects]. Neither "Indian peafowl" nor

*Pavo cristatus* carries a defecting substring, and CR_0039 appears on neither defect row. The

bucketing is correct and is reported as an absence rather than as an unchecked assumption.

IS A RIGID BOX and all apparent body flexibility is neck and tail

and the first of them is load-bearing on this design.

On this species that is the TRUE tail — about twenty short, stiff, brown rectrices — and it is

not the thing anybody looks at. The train is a separate tract of greatly elongated UPPER TAIL

COVERTS rooted forward of the pygostyle over the synsacrum, and in the raised display the true

tail fan is the PROP that stands up behind the train and holds it. The animal therefore carries

TWO fan systems on one rump, driven separately, and § 5 rigs them separately. A pipeline that

reads the bucket's one caudal entry and builds one fan has built the wrong bird.

with no skeletal component at all. It is this sheet's PRIMARY read and § 4 spends it.

EXCURSIONS rather than passive end range [§ unmeasured], and goniometry measures the passive

envelope while a live animal reaches less under its own power. Every degree above is a BOUND on a

peafowl, never a measurement of one.

of body and 1.5 m of train on males [T3_Familiars_Named § F2 Appearance], so a displaying male is

a 2.6 m animal recorded on a row whose one dimensional cell reads 1.1 — § 9 boards that.

3. lore_source

species" and T3_Creatures_Tameable § 5 Ch 07:376 says the same. Both folklore_ columns are

EMPTY. So canon asserts a SACRED ASSOCIATION and asserts NO BEHAVIOURAL FOLKLORE, and this sheet

builds exactly that split: the association is real and lives in § 4's sign read and § 7's care read;

no habit, no omen, no attribution and no supernatural behaviour is authored, because the columns

that would carry them are blank and inventing their content would be manufacturing a tradition

claim on a living faith's sacred bird.

the corpus holds no ecological source at all for this region and refuses to invent one — "probes

here for Ghats fauna and species ecology return the martial monograph, so this page authors no

hunting mechanic, no habitat rule and no population claim. That is a sourcing gap, not a softening"

[south_india.md:217-221]. What it carries instead is "an entire indigenous ethology encoded as

combat form" [:223].

named after animals and they are not static shapes but configurations of movement that embody the

outer and inner essence of the animal named, each with offensive and defensive application"

[SRC_00262; south_india.md:224-227]. One master's roster runs "horse, mayuravadivu the peacock,

serpent, cock, elephant, cat, lion and wild boar", and the two recorded rosters "disagree about

which pose is the lion and which the cock, and about which is the fish and which the peacock"

[SRC_00262; :229-232]. The peacock reading is recorded in full: "the peacock spreads its feathers,

raises its neck and dances while steadying itself on one leg" [SRC_00262; :239-240].

and a player who watches the real bird before drilling the form reads the form's logic instead of

memorizing it" [south_india.md:240-243]. That single sentence is the observation chain's payload

and § 6 builds it.

[T3_Creatures_Tameable:179]. Occurrence is the sigma-bounded rate of roughly one variant per

4,000 wild-spawn encounters and the reward is documentation rather than combat power [§ 2 L171,

§ 2.2 L189]. § 4's ladder carries it.

variants to "the regional substrate authoring layer per T8 Region Page Section 3"

[T3_Creatures_Tameable:185], and south_india.md § 3 carries the variant's EXISTENCE and no

tradition content about it. This sheet therefore asserts nothing about what any tradition holds

about a white peacock, and § 9 boards the pointer.

the Body Becomes All Eyes*, 544 chunks, "the only source on this shelf that carries the region's

living practice at technique grain" [south_india.md:1247] — and every pose claim above resolves

to it. NEGATIVE: the shelf's own audit records that the second-largest block under this region slug

is a parapsychology review that is a mis-sort with "zero occurrences of tamil, siddha, siddhar,

kalari, kalarippayattu, marma, murugan, boganathar, zvelebil and wootz" [:1259-1264], so the region

slug's apparent volume is not evidence. No claim on this sheet rests on it.

it authors "no hunting mechanic, no habitat rule and no population claim" for want of a source

[:220-221]. General zoological knowledge is carried here as DESIGN, never as a claim of any source

this region holds. § 9 boards the acquisition.

4. elevation

refused on three checkable grounds: both folklore_ columns are EMPTY on the row; the row's own

mesh_tags.style reads realistic-ethnographic; and CH_07.md:271 reserves mythologically-stylized to

the asura, the pey/bhutam and the dvarapala BY NAME, which makes an elevated peafowl elevation

AGAINST canon rather than within it.

Nothing on A1-A4, A6-A8 or A10 is claimed.

THE LEGIBILITY CONTRACT — silhouette-first discrimination, black-filled at the shipped combat camera.

**THIS CHAPTER'S ROSTER CARRIES EXACTLY ONE BIRD, AND THAT IS THE CONTRACT'S STARTING FACT RATHER

THAN AN EXCUSE.** The CH_07 rows are CR_0037 Bengal tiger, CR_0038 Indian leopard, CR_0039 Indian

peafowl, CR_0040 Indian elephant, CR_0041 gray langur and CR_0042 bonnet macaque, plus CR_0030 the

Indian cobra carried forward from Ch 6 [south_india.md:210-215]. Four mammals, one snake, one bird.

So the confusions that actually threaten this row are NOT cross-species at ground level — they are

WITHIN THE SPECIES and AT DISTANCE, and the contract is written against those.

THE MOULTED MALE. A small spray of bare-shafted feathers standing clear of the skull's outline on a

small head at the top of a long upright neck. In black fill it reads as a fine broken fringe above

a solid head — the only interruption of a clean outline anywhere on the animal, and it is present on

the peahen, on the subadult, on the leucistic morph and on the male who has just dropped his train.

MECHANISM: a crown feather-tract with no skeletal component (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY — the bucket

publishes bone and joint only).

instantly and it finds nothing else, because it is absent on every female, on every young bird, and

on every male for the months after the annual moult. A contract that leads with the train has built

a finder that half the population fails. STOCKINGS-RULE PRECEDENT, carried in principle from the

CH_05 bovid set: a confirming mark confirms; it never finds [CR_0143_gaur.md:118-131].

assumed away. A peahen and a post-moult peacock resolve to nearly the same black fill: same crest,

same neck, same leg length, same body depth. THE RESOLVER is the neck-to-body tonal break, which is

a CONFIRM in colour and not a finder, plus one silhouette fact that survives black fill — the male

keeps a longer, denser rump mass even bare of the train, so his hindquarter line falls away later

than hers. THE HONEST STATEMENT: at true distance in flat light these two are one animal, and the

design accepts that rather than inventing a mark to separate them, because a player mistaking a hen

for a moulted cock costs nothing and a fabricated dimorphism costs the row its truth.

contract. At dusk peafowl fly heavily up into tall trees and sit as large dark masses in a canopy,

which is the same read as a bonnet macaque or gray langur troop settling [CR_0041, CR_0042]. THE

RESOLVER is the trailing line: a roosting peacock's train hangs BELOW the branch as a long straight

pendant that the primates never produce, and a roosting peahen's outline carries the crest against

the sky where a primate's carries a round skull. THE SECOND RESOLVER is arrival — a peafowl gets

there in one heavy noisy climbing flight and a primate gets there by walking along branches.

horizontals on flexed digitigrade limbs with almost no daylight under the belly, and this body is

the inverse — a compact deep body carried HIGH on long straight legs with a band of open ground

under it running the animal's whole length. Belly height against leg length separates the bird from

the cats before any finder inside either set is read.

padding: the two share no scale band, no posture grade and no outline.

with the head down in long grass has neither crest nor neck in frame. THE DESIGN RULE is that the

head comes up on a short irregular clock even in undisturbed feeding — which is real, which is the

species' own vigilance behaviour, and which keeps the finder alive in every idle the animal has.

THE STATE LADDER — A5 age and state, and these are the states a species-typical photograph does not

contain (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY throughout, per § 3's sourcing gap):

The train is GROWN AND DROPPED annually. A male in train is a 2.6 m animal; the same male after the

moult is a 1.1 m bird with a bare rump, and he is the same individual. The ladder's rungs are

in-growth (short, ragged, ocelli incomplete), full (the reference state everyone knows), and dropped

(bare, and reading as a hen at any distance). A world that runs this ladder has a calendar in it

without a single UI element.

ground behind the walking bird. RAISED — the coverts come up and forward into a standing arc while

the TRUE TAIL FAN stands up behind them as the prop, so the animal doubles in height and gains a

hard outline it did not have. SHIVERING — the arc held and vibrated, which is a motion state rather

than a shape state and is where the sound is. TURNED — the whole arc rotated away, presenting the

dull reverse, which is the display's own ending and reads as dismissal.

is this row's answer to the lion sheet's group states. A temple-precinct bird walks past people at

arm's length, feeds off the paving, roosts on a cornice and will not move for a footstep — the

chapter's own ground for it is the walled precinct court and the temple-city street frame

[EG_0077, EG_0078]. A Western Ghats bird holds sixty metres of distance, flushes into a heavy

climbing flight at the first wrong step, and is heard far more often than seen — the laterite flank

and monsoon gully [EG_0090]. Same body, two behaviour sets, and the player reads which one they

are in from the first approach.

bird as an instrument. Head up, neck extended and stiff, one repeated far-carrying call, then a run

rather than a flight, and only then the heavy climb to height. Canon already holds the payload:

the alarm vocalizations are "recognized by Indian wildlife as early-warning system"

[T3_Familiars_Named § F2].

crest that never recovered; a broken spur; a hen with a brood of chicks whose crest is a soft

down-spike rather than a spray.

bare facial patch and the eye ring, with THE EYE PIGMENT RETAINED, which is what makes it leucism

and not albinism [T3_Creatures_Tameable:179]. The design consequence is a real one: a white

peacock in strong light loses every tonal read the coloured bird had, so the contract falls entirely

onto the crest and the outline, which is exactly why the crest is the primary axis and not the

train.

PRIMARY — A9 THE MARK, spent as THE CREST. MECHANISM: a crown feather tract with real function — it

is the part of the bird that is UP when the head is up, so it is the visible half of the species'

vigilance state, and it is the only feature the animal cannot drop, moult away or turn off. ONE mark,

per the axis's own rule. A creature carrying three marks carries none.

ONE-LINE READ: a tall level bird on long legs with a fine spray standing off a small head, and a

single line trailing on the ground behind it.

THE JOB, and it is why the row is worth a sheet. **THIS BIRD IS THE CHAPTER'S TEACHER, AND THE

CHAPTER SAID SO BEFORE THIS SHEET DID.** The kalari names a pose after it, the master's own reasoning

is that "when any animal fights it uses its whole body" [SRC_00262; south_india.md:233-234], and the

region page rules the consequence: watch the real bird and the form's logic arrives instead of its

memorisation [:240-243]. So this row is not scenery with a nice tail — it is the one animal in the

chapter whose OBSERVATION IS A MECHANIC, and it pays out in the pit. § 6 builds that loop.

EMISSION: none. The iridescence is STRUCTURAL COLOUR — a physical interference effect in the feather

barbules that changes hue with the viewing angle and is REFLECTIVE, so it is at MAXIMUM when the bird

is FRONT-LIT with the light coming from behind the observer, and it GOES DARK when the bird is

back-lit or the light is flat and diffuse. That is a richer read than any glow and it is entirely

inside the light law. A displaying bird in flat overcast is a brown-grey animal; the same bird

front-lit with the sun behind the camera is the thing everyone remembers. That angular dependence is

the asset instruction, and it runs in that direction.

5. articulation_delta

additions to the body.

The TRAIN is a groom-and-cloth system of about two hundred elongated upper tail coverts rooted over

the synsacrum FORWARD of the pygostyle, driven by a single erector parameter that carries them from

trailing to a standing arc, with per-feather secondary motion for the shiver. The TRUE TAIL is the

bucket's own pygostyle-borne rectrix fan [WINGED.json § segments], short and stiff, and in the

raised state it is the PROP standing behind the train and holding it. Building one fan produces a

train with nothing behind it that collapses in every wind pass.

the vigilance state, so the animal's alertness reads at any distance without a single new bone.

the trunk is a rigid box at ±2 degrees and all apparent body flexibility is neck and tail, with a

minimum chain of nine [§ joints, § rig_conformance]. Every display pose, every alarm posture and

the whole of mayuravadivu's "raises its neck" [SRC_00262] lives in that chain.

names it: the peacock pose steadies "itself on one leg" [SRC_00262; south_india.md:239-240]. It

needs the intertarsal's full -70 to +20 and a real subtalar-equivalent roll on the standing foot,

and it is the pose the observation reward is scored on.

because it is real bone and because it is the only weapon this animal owns.

family, never two assets.

band at the low end, with a climbing burst to a roost and a long descending glide, and with the

train streaming rather than flying — a body that soars is the wrong bird.

6. fight_grammar

NO BOSS ROW EXISTS AND NONE IS ASKED FOR. This row is combat_permission PERMITTED,

trade_8_tameable TAME, collect_verb DOCUMENT, dex_completion_class OBSERVATION_CHAIN. The

chapter's combat routes are fixed and this bird is on none of them: "All other combat routes against

the corrupted marma-assassin ..., the restored Surapadman-class asura ..., and the temple-guardian

dvarapala trial" [CH_07.md:252]. So the grammar below is the TAME grade's own three loops, and the

lethal option is the fourth, priced.

PART ECONOMY HOME: NONE, declared affirmatively per doctrine § 2.4's enumeration. There is

nothing to break on a peafowl, the encounter has no arena, and a sheet that invented breakable regions

here would be padding a block. What the row has instead of a part economy is an OBSERVATION LADDER,

and the ladder is § 3's cited payload.

THE FOUR LOOPS, in the order canon ranks them.

"Seven non-combat observations per species is the canonical completionist benchmark, following the

Ch 02 Komodo observation chain template. Observation does not trigger combat and costs no vril"

[T3_Creatures_Tameable:114]. THE SEVEN THIS SHEET PROPOSES, each a state from § 4's ladder rather

than seven repetitions of one: a precinct bird at arm's length; a Ghats bird flushed at distance;

the full display with the prop-fan visible behind the train; the shiver; the alarm posture and the

call answered by something else in the forest; the one-leg stand; and a moulted male — the last

being the rung a player will not find without a calendar, which is the point of putting it there.

that watching the animal teaches the form [south_india.md:240-243], and the page already carries

the mechanic's shape at its § 13 minigame layer — a peacock steadying itself on one leg read as

"pose comprehension" with "patience-and-attention reward" [south_india.md:1144-1146]. THE LOOP:

the player watches the bird's display and its one-leg stand in the world, and the kalari's

mayuravadivu then scores against comprehension rather than against memorisation. THE DESIGN RULE

that keeps it honest: the reward is UNDERSTANDING the pose, never a stat — a purchasable buff off a

living martial tradition's form would be the instrumentalisation the corpus's own care lines refuse.
