Indian leopard (Panthera pardus fusca) under the Ch-07 catalog's 'Apex and DANGEROUS' heading (L365,

L368) — the same heading that types the Bengal tiger carried on CR_0037 — so trade_8_tameable

DANGEROUS is canon-typed, not inferred", and that "combat_permission PERMITTED rests on the sec1.3

DANGEROUS definition rather than on any staged encounter, since Ch 7 stages no fauna combat". THIS

SHEET INHERITS THAT READ AND EXTENDS IT RATHER THAN RE-OPENING IT — AND CORRECTS ITS LINE REFS

RATHER THAN INHERITING THEM UNCHECKED. The cell's "(L365, L368)" is quoted above verbatim because a

quotation of canon is not this lane's to alter, but L365 is a blank line; this sheet's own verified

refs, read off T3_Creatures_Tameable [ACTIVE v1.0], are the "Apex and DANGEROUS" heading at :368

and THIS ROW'S OWN LINE at :371, which is the ref used everywhere else on this sheet. The cell

correction is boarded in § 9.

temperament_prior, intelligence_tier, thread_anchor, hard_line_anchors,

familiar_slot_eligible, spawn_rate, mesh_id_ref, kit_ref

renders at standard tier with the living-practitioner substrate at full specificity

[south_india.md:406-411], and the one ELEVATED care_tier in the Zone Catalog is scoped to

kerala_kalari because a kalari is a temple [south_india.md:80-82]. The western_ghats zone,

which is this animal's ground, carries care_tier standard [south_india.md:62]. Reading the

chapter's living-tradition care onto a forest cat is care-tier inflation and § 7 refuses it by name.

THE STAGING RULING THIS SHEET PROPOSES — ENGAGEMENT IS PLAYER-OPENED, AND THE ENVELOPE IS ABOVE YOU

THE SHAPE OF THE PROBLEM, STATED BEFORE IT IS ANSWERED. CH_07 fixes its combat routes by name: "All

other combat routes against the corrupted marma-assassin ..., the restored Surapadman-class asura

..., and the temple-guardian dvarapala trial" [CH_07.md:252]. The western_ghats site row carries

ambient_threat low [CH_07.md:104]. No beat stages a cat, and THE ASSET ANCHOR DOES NOT NAME THIS

ANIMAL — CH_07.md:269 lists "the Indian peacock ..., the cobra ..., the Western Ghats elephant and

macaque and Nilgiri fauna as ambient presences", and this row appears there only if it is read into

"Nilgiri fauna", which this sheet declines to do — AND THE ASYMMETRY WITH ITS PAIR IS DELIBERATE

RATHER THAN A DISAGREEMENT. CR_0037 DOES read "Nilgiri fauna" as naming itself, because three canon

cells attach that exact population name to the Bengal tiger: its own cultural_significance "Nilgiri

population (Ch 07)", the region page's "the Nilgiri population" [south_india.md:211-212], and

T3_Creatures_Tameable:370's "Nilgiri population". NOT ONE CELL ANYWHERE ATTACHES IT TO THIS ROW,

whose cultural_significance is empty outright, so reading this animal into that phrase would be

inventing an attribution rather than reading one. THE ROW'S PRESENCE IN THIS CHAPTER IS THEREFORE

GROUNDED ON THE REGION PAGE AND THE ROSTER ROW: the page's Section 3 consumes "the Indian leopard

(CR_0038, Panthera pardus fusca)" by id and binomial [south_india.md:212], the roster row

carries chapter_first_encounter CH_07, and T3_Creatures_Tameable:371 lists it under the Ch-07

catalog's "Apex and DANGEROUS" heading. Nothing here invents a staging canon does not carry.

THE RULING, BUILT UNDER THE LANDED PRECEDENT FOR EXACTLY THIS SHAPE

[DIRECTOR_RULING_L13 RULING_3, the lion fork]:

ambient state the site row declares. It is present, it calls at night, it is walked under.

ATTACK. (2) ENTRY INTO A CONTEST ENVELOPE — AND THIS ROW'S ENVELOPES ARE VERTICAL, WHICH IS THE

WHOLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS SHEET AND ITS PAIR. THE LARDER TREE: a leopard hoists its kill into a

fork and holds it for days rather than leaving it on the ground for a bigger cat, so the envelope

is the carcass and the ground beneath it within the tree's own crown radius — and a carcass hanging

in a fork is visible from further away than any tell on any animal in this chapter. THE LIE-UP OVER

THE PATH: the bough or rock ledge the animal spends the day on, whose envelope is the ground

directly under it and a body-length either side — announced, per this sheet's primary axis, by a

tail hanging straight down out of a tree where nothing hangs straight down.

THE SITE ROW ALREADY CARRIES.** The western_ghats row's own env line reads "the wet rainforest

and SPICE HIGHLANDS — Ayurvedic botanicals and crucible ore feeding the gathering loop"

[CH_07.md:105], and a spice highland is WORKED ground: a cultivated margin inside the traversal

corridor, with the people who work it and the animals they keep. THE THIRD ENVELOPE IS THE STOCK

LINE AT THAT MARGIN — seated on CH_07.md:105 rather than on a settlement this sheet invented, which

is the correction a critic pass made to an earlier draft that staged it on ground no site row

carried. It is entered only by a player who chooses to stand the night at it. Dark makes the animal

press harder inside engagement; it never makes it open on a player who opened nothing. WHAT CANON

STILL DOES NOT CARRY is an environment-grammar row for a settlement or plantation EDGE in this

chapter — the gathering loop's worked ground has no EG row of its own — and § 9 boards that beside

the EG_0012 ask rather than letting the sheet supply the row itself.

the grab-and-drag, the high line, and the kill. RULING_7's fight-and-tame grammar gets everything it

ruled in. What it does not get is a schedule.

LESSON.** Every envelope on CR_0037_bengal_tiger.md lies on the ground plane — a drag lane, a

wallow bank, a game trail. Every envelope here is over the player's head until dark. Two cats of

one chapter teach a player to look down and up for two different reasons, and the two sheets are

deliberately not interchangeable.

So CH_07 stages no fauna encounter and this sheet builds none: no beat, no boss row, no scripted

trigger, no entry in the chapter's encounter list. What the row keeps is its grade's own combat-first

entry fill, armed behind an envelope the player crosses on purpose.

THE STRONGEST OBJECTION TO THIS RULING, STATED RATHER THAN HIDDEN, AND IT IS SHARPER HERE THAN ON THE

TIGER. The leopard is the real animal that most nearly does initiate: it is the cat that comes to the

settlement edge, and a player-opened rule risks reading as the design flinching from the one predator

whose actual reputation is for taking things from people. THE ANSWER, and it is why the ruling stands

in this exact form: THE MARGIN IS BUILT RATHER THAN CUT. The night envelope is the stock line on the

SPICE-HIGHLAND margin the site row's own env line names [CH_07.md:105], the animal comes to it, and

the player who chooses to stand the night there gets the full grammar with nothing removed. What the ruling refuses is not the leopard's boldness but an unearned pounce on a

player crossing a low-threat traversal zone in daylight, which would contradict CH_07.md:104 and

:252 in one move. A canon contradiction is not a thrill; it is a defect wearing one. The second

objection — that a vertical envelope is unreadable on a follow camera under canopy — is answered by

the primary axis: the tail hangs into open air below the branch line, which is the one place a

follow camera is already looking.

2. base_species

carnivoran_digitigrade

build/3d/schema/anatomy_reference/QUADRUPED.json § sub_plans.carnivoran_digitigrade.

BUCKET COVERAGE IS BY ARCHETYPE and it is machine-recorded rather than asserted:

build/3d/schema/creature_archetype_map.json maps CR_0038 to QUADRUPED, matched_on

"species_class='mammal' + scientific_name~'panthera'". The sub-plan's declared exemplars are

"CR_0057 Cheetah (see census_defects)" and "generic canid/felid", so this row is covered as a felid

rather than by census id. THE REFERENCE TAXON IS *Canis lupus familiaris* and the table states the

substitution itself: felid ranges "transfer as BOUNDS, not as values", with the caveat at

QUADRUPED.json's top-level unmeasured list — "felid-specific goniometric ranges — no published

felid equivalent of Jaeger et al. 2002." EVERY DEGREE BELOW IS A BOUND ON A LEOPARD, NEVER A

MEASUREMENT OF ONE.

sagittal plane [§ posture_grade, § one_line]

vertebrae, taxon-variable; THE CLAVICLE IS VESTIGIAL OR ABSENT and the forelimb hangs in a MUSCULAR

SLING (synsarcosis), so the scapula translates on the ribcage and there is no bony shoulder joint

to the trunk at all [§ segments]. THIS IS THE MOST LOAD-BEARING FACT ON THIS SHEET, because the

behaviour the whole design turns on is a cat carrying a carcass heavier than itself up a vertical

trunk, and the sling is what lets the forequarter take that load without a shoulder joint to shock.

mirrored scapula → humerus → radioulna → carpus → metacarpus → digits and femur → tibia → tarsus →

metatarsus → toes chains; tail_00 off the pelvis. Every _L bone carries an identical _R sibling

[§ skeleton, § mirror_rule]

rotation ±15 as excursion about neutral, with the table's own warning that a rig parenting the

humerus straight to the spine loses the whole first third of the stride [DYCE2010, SISSON1975];

glenohumeral flexion-extension 57-165, abduction-adduction ±20, axial rotation ±15 [JAEGER2002,

MILLERS2013]; elbow 36-165 with pronation-supination ±25 and never a free axis; carpus 32-196,

hyperextending past straight as the shock absorber — WHICH IS THE JOINT THE CLIMB IS SPENT

THROUGH; hip 50-162, abduction-adduction ±30, axial rotation ±20; stifle 42-162 with ±10 of

rotation only near flexion; hock 39-165 AND IT NEVER HYPEREXTENDS; intervertebral thoracolumbar per

joint at sagittal ±8, lateral ±6, axial ±4 — and the table's governing rule, THE MAMMALIAN SPINE

BENDS SAGITTALLY AND NOT LATERALLY.

will check it. The ascent is scapulothoracic protraction to its ±25 excursion reaching the forelimb

high, glenohumeral flexion into the 57-165 range, claw contact at the digits, and then hip and

stifle extension driving the body up past a carpus hyperextending toward 196 as the wrist rolls

over the bark. No axis is exceeded and no joint is invented; the leopard climbs on the same

envelope the lion walks on, spent in a different direction.

0.55-0.8 with fore-lag 10-30 percent; the TROT is diagonal couplets at 0.35-0.5 and fore-lag 45-55;

the PACE is lateral couplets at fore-lag 0-10; the run is the ROTARY gallop LH-RH-RF-LF, the

table's felid gallop, with the back contributing a second suspension phase and two airborne moments

per cycle [§ gait]. The solver takes duty factor plus per-foot phase offsets with the spine driven

FK off the gait clock and the feet IK to ground [§ gait.solver_note].

of at least 4 bones each; bilateral symmetry required [§ rig_conformance]

bucket publishes bone and joint only. The jaw gape at about 65 degrees on the table's jaw deform

bone, which carries no range, adopted from the landed felid precedent

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:73-75]; CLAW PROTRACTION as a joint state rather than a texture swap,

with the excursion now DECLARED rather than merely asserted to exist — ABOUT 40 DEGREES of rotation

at the distal phalanx carrying the claw from fully sheathed to fully protracted, AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY

and the game's own authored value on a joint the bucket does not publish — and on this animal it is

the single most load-bearing state on the body, because that 40 degrees is the whole difference

between a foot resting on bark and a foot HOLDING it; the proportional claim below. The table's standing caveat carries: goniometry measures the PASSIVE

envelope and what a live animal reaches under its own power is smaller by an amount the sources do

not separate [§ unmeasured].

and length_axis cells are EMPTY and § 9 boards them): a long low body on comparatively short

limbs, a head large for the frame, a heavy forequarter and neck out of proportion to the total

mass, and a TAIL RUNNING ROUGHLY TWO-THIRDS TO THREE-QUARTERS OF THE HEAD-BODY LENGTH — about half

again the tiger's ratio, which is the whole of the contract's species finder and is stated here as a

bounded proportion rather than as the older overstatement that it equals the body. The animal is a

fraction of the chapter's tiger and it is built to carry more than it weighs. The gait is a lateral-sequence walk placed with unusual

precision; the sprint is very short and is spent entirely on closing.

and a tail of roughly two-thirds to three-quarters of head-body length curled with its last third

clear of the ground — the same landed carriage the chapter's tiger holds

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:84-85], which is why carriage discriminates nothing between them and the

contract's finder is the LENGTH RATIO alone. ON A BOUGH, WHICH IS THIS

ANIMAL'S REAL RESTING SILHOUETTE AND THE ONE THE CONTRACT IS BUILT ON: one mass lying ALONG the

branch with the forelimbs draped either side of it and the tail hanging straight down into open

air.

3. lore_source

folklore_behavior_substrate and folklore_attribution_source are EMPTY, and so is

cultural_significance — this row carries no cultural cell at all, which is unusual in the CH_07

fauna block and is boarded in § 9 as a data gap rather than treated as a design licence. The region

page's whole 1,481 lines mention this animal exactly once, at :212, as the consumed-roster line

naming the id and the binomial. That is a NEGATIVE CONTROL: an exhaustive search of the page and of

T3_Creatures_Tameable's Ch-07 block returns the roster lines and nothing else, which reports an

absence rather than a failed query.

The kalari encodes an entire indigenous ethology as combat form: the vadivu poses are named after

animals, and one documented roster runs "gajavadivu the elephant, simhavadivu the lion, asvavadivu

the horse, varahavadivu the wild boar, sarpavadivu the serpent, marjaravadivu the cat, kukkuvadivu

the cock and matsyavadivu the fish", with a second master's roster substituting mayuravadivu the

peacock [south_india.md:227-232, SRC_00262]. THERE IS A LION POSE AND A CAT POSE AND THERE IS NO

LEOPARD POSE AND NO TIGER POSE. This sheet attaches no kalari register to this animal, invents no

leopard vadivu, and records the absence as a finding rather than filling it.

ROW. T3_Creatures_Tameable § 2.1:181 rules the class directly: "Melanism — excess melanin

production; cross-species. Appearance: dark or all-black morph. Common in certain felids — black

panthers in leopard and jaguar populations — and canids." Occurrence rides the framework's own

sigma-bounded rate of roughly one variant per 4,000 wild-spawn encounters, and a variant grants a

documentation reward rather than combat power [:171, :189]. So the morph goes on this sheet's state

ladder as a designed rung under a cited taxonomy — AND THE ROW'S OWN rare_variant CELL IS EMPTY,

so the sheet designs it and boards the cell rather than writing it. NO FOLKLORE IS ATTACHED TO IT:

§ 2.1's cultural-sacred-variant clause routes such claims through "T8 Region Page Section 3", and

this region's Section 3 holds nothing about any cat, so a black-leopard tradition would be a

fabrication and none is authored.

Becomes All Eyes*, region_tags tamil_south_india, 544 chunks — this region's keystone and the

source behind every tradition line quoted above. The SRC_ machinery matches on this region; it

simply reaches no leopard.

carries NO zoological or ecological source for this region ... this page authors no hunting

mechanic, no habitat rule and no population claim. That is a sourcing gap, not a softening"

[south_india.md:217-221]. Every ethological line in § 4 and § 6 is therefore marked

AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY: general zoological knowledge carried as DESIGN, never presented as a claim of

any source this region holds. The acquisition is boarded in § 9.

4. elevation

row's folklore and cultural columns are empty, it stages no supernatural claim, and CH_07 reserves

stylization by name — "realistic-ethnographic for the Tamil and Malayali communities, temples,

forges, and kalari; mythologically-stylized only for the asura, the pey/bhutam, and the dvarapala"

[CH_07.md:271] — a reservation the row's own mesh_tags.style cell obeys. A supernatural leopard

standing beside the three things this chapter reserved styling for is the Komodo defect inverted.

THE LEGIBILITY CONTRACT — CH_07's FELID DISCRIMINATION, AUTHORED ONCE AND CARRIED BYTE-IDENTICAL ON

BOTH SHEETS OF THE PAIR (CR_0037_bengal_tiger.md § 4 and CR_0038_indian_leopard.md § 4). It is the

silhouette-first discrimination the § 3D register owes in place of the replica test, black-filled at

the shipped combat camera, and it covers every confusable body a player can meet in or beside this

chapter.

THE SET. TWO WILD FELIDS ARE ROWED AT CH_07 — CR_0037 the Bengal tiger (*Panthera tigris tigris*,

trophic_role apex) and CR_0038 the Indian leopard (*Panthera pardus fusca*, trophic_role

mid-level), named together on the region page's own consumed-roster line [south_india.md:211-213].

A THIRD FELID WALKS BESIDE THE PLAYER AND IS NOT WILD: Khan, the bonded Sumatran tiger (G1), carried

into this chapter from Ch 5 [CH_07.md:21, :286, :308]. A FOURTH IS ONE CHAPTER BEHIND: CR_0029 the

Sri Lankan leopard, chapters_present CH_06, not present here and freshly learned. The contract's

job is that no player and no critic ever confuses any of the four.

THE GOVERNING LAW OF THIS CONTRACT: THE FINDER IS SCALE-FREE AND THE CONFIRM IS NOT. A player cannot

judge an animal's size without judging its distance first, and in wet Ghats forest the distance read

fails before the size read does. Every finder below is therefore a RATIO measured against the

animal's own body, and every colour or pattern read is a CONFIRM that arrives second. The

stockings-rule precedent from the CH_05 bovid set is carried in principle: a confirming mark

confirms, it never finds [CR_0143_gaur.md:118-131, adopted at CR_0056_african_lion.md:234-235].

night, rain and a melanistic coat. IT IS A LENGTH RATIO AND NOTHING ELSE, because CARRIAGE DOES NOT

DISCRIMINATE THESE TWO ANIMALS and this contract no longer asks it to. A TIGER'S TAIL IS ROUGHLY

HALF ITS HEAD-BODY LENGTH, thick at the root and tapering to a point. A LEOPARD'S TAIL IS ROUGHLY

TWO-THIRDS TO THREE-QUARTERS OF ITS HEAD-BODY LENGTH, thin along its whole run — about HALF AGAIN

the tiger's ratio, which is the gap the finder measures. BOTH CATS HOLD THE LAST THIRD OF THE TAIL

CLEAR OF THE GROUND: that is the LANDED carriage and it governs under first-landed-governs

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:84-85], so in black fill the read is HOW FAR THE LINE RUNS AGAINST THE

BODY IT LEAVES and never how the line is held. NEITHER ENDS IN A BLOB — the terminal tuft is the

lion's alone and no lion is in this chapter [CR_0056_african_lion.md:217-223]. THE LEOPARD FIGURE IS

A CORRECTION TO THE LANDED CH_10 READING RATHER THAN A SILENT DIVERGENCE FROM IT:

CR_0056_african_lion.md:219-220 states that a leopard's tail "is as long as its body", this pair

restates it as two-thirds to three-quarters of head-body length, and § 9 boards the upstream

correction so that two sheets do not carry two numbers.

the felid set. The other large bodies this chapter stages — CR_0040 the Indian elephant above all —

stand TALL on column-straight legs and read as MASS ABOVE DAYLIGHT, a deep band of open ground

running the animal's whole length. Both cats are the inverse: a LOW HORIZONTAL on flexed

digitigrade limbs with almost no daylight under the belly. The class fact is the landed one and is

adopted whole [CR_0056_african_lion.md:253-258].

Bengal tiger is the largest cat in the chapter and the leopard is a fraction of it; where a known

object is in frame — a path, a stump, a standing person — the mass read is decisive and free, and

where none is, the tail ratio has already answered.

the last check taken and it fails outright on the leopard's melanistic morph, which is precisely why

this contract is built on ratio.

is the player's own bonded familiar and the other is a wild apex predator, and canon supplies the

discriminator in its own words. Khan is *Panthera tigris sumatrae*, with a "darker orange coat with

closer-set black stripes than mainland tigers" and a "smaller body size canonical to island

dwarfism" [T3_Familiars_Named:386], and CR_0037 IS THE MAINLAND TIGER THAT SENTENCE IS MEASURED

AGAINST: bigger, paler in the ground colour, wider-barred. THE MOTION FINDER IS BETTER THAN ANY OF

THAT AND IT SURVIVES BLACK FILL. The landed CR_0024 sheet builds Khan's cohort with a NAPE SHELF

whose declared cost is that it "removes roughly a third of the available lateral excursion" so that

"the animal turns with its whole forequarter because its neck can no longer do the work alone"

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:163-169]. CR_0037 refuses elevation and therefore carries no shelf, so

ITS NECK TURNS ON ITS OWN. THE RULE: the tiger that looks at you by turning its head alone is the

it — Khan travels on the player's line and a wild tiger never does.

CR_0029 is trophic_role apex and its own catalog entry states the reason — "Apex predator (no

tiger population in Sri Lanka per regional biogeography)" [T3_Creatures_Tameable:345]. CR_0038 is

trophic_role mid-level and shares its range with CR_0037. So on the island the big spotted cat is

the only big cat and it keeps its kill where it fell; on this shore the same spotted cat is the

SECOND cat and it takes its kill UP a tree, away from the first one. THE RULE, and it is a thing

the player must unlearn one chapter after learning it: in Ch 6 you found the spotted cat's kill on

the ground, and in Ch 7 you find it over your head.

the gray langur and CR_0042 the bonnet macaque occupy the same boughs a leopard lies up on, and at

dusk a dark mass on a branch is a dark mass on a branch. THE TAIL ANSWERS ONLY HALF OF IT, AND THE

HALF IT ANSWERS IS THE LANGUR: a langur's tail is thin and carried in a hook ABOVE the line of its

back, which no cat does. THE MACAQUE IS NOT SEPARATED BY THE TAIL AT ALL, AND THIS CONTRACT SAYS SO

RATHER THAN PRETENDING OTHERWISE — the landed primate contract finds *Macaca radiata* by a tail

carried DOWN, hanging below the back line or trailing on the stone, on an animal whose tail is

longer than its head-body length [CR_0042_bonnet_macaque.md:258-261], and a tail hanging down out of

a bough is exactly the leopard's own mark. FOUR READS SEPARATE THE CAT FROM THE MONKEYS AND EACH

SURVIVES BLACK FILL. (1) BODY MASS AGAINST BRANCH DIAMETER: the leopard lies on timber thick enough

to carry a body of its own order and the branch does not move under it, while a monkey sits out on a

limb a cat's mass would bend, so the BRANCH is the scale rule the forest otherwise refuses to give.

(2) POSTURE AGAINST THE BOUGH: the leopard is ONE mass lying ALONG the bough with its FORELIMBS

DRAPED EITHER SIDE of it and its body inside the branch's own line, and a macaque sits UPRIGHT with

its whole body ABOVE the branch, breaking that line at a right angle. (3) THE CROWN WHORL IN

PROFILE: the macaque's flat parted cap widens the head outline past the skull in every light and at

every angle [CR_0042_bonnet_macaque.md:258-261], and a cat's head outline is smooth. (4) COUNT AND

DIRECTION OF TRAVEL: the monkeys are a GROUP that is MOVING through the crown, and the cat is ONE

body that is STILL. Mass, posture, head outline, count — four reads that never collide.

Gate-Guardian of Meenakshi and Brihadeshwara, which is the reservation's third name and the one the

chapter's own asset anchor carries as "the dvarapala as a protective guardian-object"

[CH_07.md:269]. THE RULE: if the thing in the dark reads stylized, it is not an animal.

DESIGN RULE, carried in principle from the landed lion sheet's tuft rule

[CR_0056_african_lion.md:241-244]: the tail tip is always the last thing to go still, on both

animals, so one ratio read stays alive in every idle either of them has.

THE STATE LADDER — A5 age and state, and these are the states a species-typical photograph does not

contain (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY throughout, per § 3's declared sourcing gap):

SPECIES exists in this chapter in two tolerances and they are legible without a word of text. THE

DEEP-GHATS ANIMAL has never had a reason to learn what a person is: it leaves at fifty metres, it

hunts by day as readily as by night, and its coat is clean. THE MARGIN ANIMAL lives against the

plantation and settlement edge, is nocturnal because it has learned to be, is bolder at close range

than the forest animal will ever be, and carries the margin on it — dust rather than leaf litter,

a healed line from a thorn fence, a worn place on the flank from a regular squeeze under a wall.

ONE SPECIES, TWO ENCOUNTERS, and the player reads which one they are in from where they are

standing and what the coat is carrying.

is STAYING, and will not be moved: it lies above its own food with its belly full and its attention

narrow, and the tree carries the evidence — bark scored in a spiral by the climb under load, a

drag-stain on the trunk, and a ground beneath that flies have found. This is the difference between

an animal that will let a player walk under it and one that will not.

under T3_Creatures_Tameable § 2.1:181's own melanism taxonomy. The morph is a dark-to-black coat

in which the rosettes remain PRESENT and readable in raking light as a slightly different sheen,

because melanism is excess pigment rather than a lost pattern. THE DESIGN CONSEQUENCE IS THE

IMPORTANT PART: on this individual every colour confirm in the contract dies at once, and what

survives is the tail ratio, the bough posture and the hanging tail — which is precisely why the

contract was built on ratio and position rather than on pattern.

ground is the tiger's and is therefore in the wrong place more often than any other animal in the

chapter; a prime resident that has a preferred tree and uses it; and an old animal with worn teeth

that has moved to the margin permanently because tethered stock does not run.

the dry the belly and lower limbs carry LATERITE red, the material the region's own wild ground is

made of and which the environment grammar row this animal walks on carries as an

ambient_state_gift material:laterite [T0_Environment_Grammar_Registry @ EG_0090].

tiger's is horizontal: claw-scored bark in a rising spiral rather than a horizontal scrape, a

drag-stain up a trunk, hair caught on the underside of a branch at the height a body squeezes past,

and the ground beneath a fork that has been under a carcass. The boundary-mark vocabulary is the

landed one and is carried forward rather than re-invented

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:257-260], turned ninety degrees.

PRIMARY — A9 THE MARK, spent as THE ONE THING IN THE TREE THAT DOES NOT MATCH THE TREE: the tail

hanging straight down out of a bough. MECHANISM, and it is anatomy plus gravity rather than

decoration: this animal's tail runs roughly two-thirds to three-quarters of its head-body length —

about half again the tiger's ratio — and it is the counterweight the climb and the narrow-branch

balance are paid for with, so at rest on a branch the whole of that length hangs into open air below

the crown, unsupported and vertical. THE MARK DOES NOT NEED THE OVERSTATEMENT: a line two-thirds of a

cat long, hanging dead straight out of a crown, is already the only straight vertical in a Ghats tree. NOTHING ELSE IN A GHATS TREE HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN

— foliage falls in curves, lianas twist, a langur's tail hooks up. One mark, one meaning, presented

in the open air below the branch line where a follow camera is already looking, high-contrast against

sky or canopy gap at any distance, and no light emitted anywhere. A creature carrying three marks

carries none; this one carries one, and it is the animal's own weight doing it.

ONE-LINE READ: a long spotted cat on short legs carrying a tail two-thirds to three-quarters of its

own body, and which you find by looking up and seeing one straight line in a place that has none.

THE JOB, and it is why the row is worth a sheet beside the tiger's. THE TIGER IS THE GROUND THAT IS

TAKEN; THE LEOPARD IS THE GROUND YOU ALREADY WALKED. Its whole design proposition is retroactive

fear: the player crosses under a bough at noon, learns the mark that evening, and from then on every

tree on the path they have already walked is a question. That is a different feeling from the tiger's

and it costs nothing to produce — no encounter, no trigger, one silhouette rule. It is also the

honest reading of what a second-ranked predator IS: the animal that survives beside a bigger one by

being where the bigger one is not, which is up, and which is why its kill is up too.

EMISSION: none. The animal reads by being lit — a wet coat under canopy light, laterite dust, a

rosette field breaking against dapple, and the flat retinal sheen of an eye catching a torch already

in the scene.

5. articulation_delta

additions to the body. Stated affirmatively because the arc's other landed felid carries them: this

animal has NO NAPE SHELF and NO OVER-BUILT THROAT — those are CR_0024's declared ELEVATION

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:119-130] and importing them would elevate against canon.

leans on hardest. It is the table's 20-23-bone chain run out to roughly two-thirds to

three-quarters of head-body length, and it carries TWO

driven states that are mechanically distinct: HANGING, in which the chain is near-passive under

gravity with a slow pendulum and an independent idle twitch at the tip, which is the primary mark;

and COUNTERWEIGHTING, in which the chain is actively driven against the body's mass during a

narrow-branch traverse or a turn at speed. The transition between those two states is the drop's

only wind-up, which is why § 6 puts it in the tell table.

ABOUT 40 DEGREES at the distal phalanx (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY, the game's own authored value — the

bucket publishes bone and joint only and carries no claw range), and on this animal that excursion

is what the whole climb hangs from: contact at the digits, load through a carpus

hyperextending toward the table's 196, and the weight passing into the forequarter's muscular sling

because the table rules the clavicle vestigial or absent. A rig that treats the claw as a material

swap cannot carry a carcass up a trunk.

the jaw at about the 65-degree gape, the head and cervical chain carry it clear of the forelimbs,

and the ascent is the alternating protraction-flexion-extension cycle described in § 2. What the

animation lane owes it is the ASYMMETRY: the load hangs on one side, so the spine's sagittal-only

rule holds while the whole body works out of balance, and that lopsided climb is the most

identifying motion the animal has.

carpal hyperextension is the shock absorber the table already names. There is no wind-up available

because gravity supplies the energy, which is a design fact rather than a missing telegraph, and

§ 6 answers it by moving the telegraph into SPACE instead of TIME.

6. fight_grammar

NO BOSS ROW EXISTS AND NONE IS ASKED FOR. CH_07's combat routes are fixed to the marma-assassin, the

asura and the dvarapala trial [CH_07.md:252], and this row's encounter verbs are therefore taken from

its own cells — collect_verb DOCUMENT;FIGHT, combat_permission PERMITTED, trade_8_tameable

DANGEROUS — plus the three routes the DANGEROUS grade carries [T3_Creatures_Tameable:100, :118,

:120].

EVERYTHING BELOW IS INSIDE ENGAGEMENT, AND ENGAGEMENT IS PLAYER-OPENED PER § 1. The animal never

initiates on an unengaged player; the player opens by attacking, by crossing under the larder tree or

the occupied bough, or at night by standing the stock line. THE MOMENT ONE IS CROSSED, EVERYTHING IN

THIS BLOCK IS LIVE AT FULL WEIGHT AND NOTHING IN IT IS SOFTENED.

PART ECONOMY HOME: SURFACES, and this row is the closest instance the lane has yet produced to

the doctrine's own literal definition of that home — "for a being with no body, the places it may

occupy, removed one at a time" [doctrine § 2.4]. The places here are VERTICAL and the being does have

a body, which is the open extension the lane already boards

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:372-378]; this sheet is a further instance and adds nothing new to the

question except that its surfaces are the honest, non-metaphorical kind. THE SURFACES: the boughs

over a path, the rock ledge above it, the larder fork, and the trunk lines that reach them. The

player closes them one at a time and BEFORE anything is opened — light under the tree so the crown is

lit from below, a thorn collar at the trunk, the branch approach cut back, and the choice of which

side of the path to walk. The three currencies hold: a closed surface is a PERMANENT SUBTRACTION from

the animal's live openers that night, because the high line in the escalation below literally cannot

run without them; each closure is a LEGIBILITY GAIN because the remaining occupancy narrows to fewer

trees and the hanging tail is easier to find; and the MATERIAL the economy wants is the player's own

fuel, thorn and hours [T0_Environment_Grammar_Registry @ EG_0020, CONCEALMENT with an

ambient_state_gift fuel:flammable and enemy_usable TRUE].

THE SILHOUETTE FRACTIONS, ONE PER SURFACE, BECAUSE DOCTRINE § 4 FAILS A fight_grammar BLOCK THAT

CARRIES A PART WITH NO SILHOUETTE FRACTION. THE AFFIRMATIVE STATEMENT COMES FIRST SO NO GATE READS A

SILENCE: A SURFACES HOME EXTENDED TO A BODIED CREATURE CANNOT CARRY A BODY FRACTION. None of these

parts is on the animal, the leopard's own silhouette is unchanged by every closure, and the fraction

that moves is the ARENA's — which is exactly the convention the doctrine already uses for VEHICLE,

"measured in silhouette fractions of the ARENA rather than of the creature" [doctrine § 2.4]. The

fractions below are of the ARENA FRAME at the shipped combat camera, on the follow camera this

sheet's primary axis already aims at the open air below the branch line, and the doctrine ask this

extension needs is boarded in § 9 beside the open CR_0024 finding

[CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:372-378].

crown is legible before it is reached and why lighting it from below is the closure that pays most.

SPATIAL rather than TEMPORAL — the correct answer is taken before the attack begins, because the

attack itself is gravity and gravity does not wind up.

THE CROSS-CREATURE LESSONS, BOTH NAMED, because both are deliberate. AGAINST THE LION: CR_0056's

opener is THE GRASS THAT IS WRONG — "a patch of the grass line that does not move with the wind,

because a body is lying in it with the head down" [CR_0056_african_lion.md:367]. THE ROSETTES THAT DO

NOT MOVE IS THE SAME LESSON MOVED UP: same negative-space read, same answer class, taken against

dapple in a canopy instead of against wind in grass. This sheet names it as the intended

cross-creature lesson and inherits it rather than pretending to invent it — a player who learned

stillness on the plain finds it again here at a different altitude. AGAINST THE CHAPTER'S OWN TIGER:

CR_0037's commit is announced by a MARK THAT APPEARS ON THE HEAD and its answer is taken in the

moment; this animal's commit is announced by a MARK THAT DISAPPEARS FROM THE TREE and its answer had

to be taken a step earlier. Two cats, one chapter, opposite polarity on the same axis, and a player

who reads the second one the way they learned the first is under it when it comes.

THE ESCALATION, ON THE FOUR CHANNELS, and it is ASSERTIVENESS INSIDE ENGAGEMENT rather than a phase.

NIGHT SETS THE STARTING RUNG AND DOES NOT PULL THE TRIGGER. POSTURE — the animal COMES DOWN and stays

down, which inverts its own rule and is the most unsettling escalation available to it: the thing

that was above you is now on your level, and the tree you were watching is empty. BREATH — there is

nothing to hear; this animal's escalation is that it gets QUIETER rather than louder, which is the

inverse of every large body the arc has taught so far. VOCALIZATION — the sawing, rasping call it has

been placing itself with STOPS, and a low continuous growl begins from one fixed point, which means it

has decided not to move again. NEW OPENER — THE HIGH LINE: the animal starts using the boughs and

ledges to circle above and behind, a move that is impossible unless those surfaces are still open,

which is exactly where the part economy above pays out.

THE OPENER AND ITS VARIANTS: the root is THE HANGING TAIL — the most legible and least punishing

thing in the set, because obeying it costs nothing and it teaches the whole encounter. Its variants

share the origin and lengthen from it: THE TAIL STOPS HANGING is the same tail spent; THE LARDER is

the same occupancy with a reason attached and a longer commitment behind it; THE GRAB-AND-DRAG is the

drop completed onto a target; THE SIDLE is the same animal caught on the ground with no height to

use, which is the one configuration in which it would rather not fight at all. Teaching order is find

it, watch it, watch it stop, and then find out what the ground under the branch was for.

THE TAME HALF OF RULING_7, BUILT, AND ITS LICENCE IS GRANTED RATHER THAN GATED. The DANGEROUS grade

carries three routes [T3_Creatures_Tameable:100, :118, :120]:

OBSERVATION_CHAIN and collect_verb leads with DOCUMENT; seven non-combat observations is the

canonical completionist benchmark [T3_Creatures_Tameable:114]. Progress lives in the ANIMAL rather

than in a HUD, on the landed ladder [CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:262-267], and on this species it has

a shape the tiger's does not: the early observations are of the TREE — the spiral scoring, the

stain, the fouled ground — and only the later ones are of the animal, so the chain teaches a player

to document a place before they can document a body. Documenting a melanistic individual is its own

variant entry at the framework's sigma-bounded rate [T3_Creatures_Tameable:171, :189].

Trickery misdirection at Trade 8 mastery, and Animal Communication species-level request behaviour

at Trade 1 canonical mastery [T3_Creatures_Tameable:120]. THIS CHAPTER IS TRADE 4's FIRST HOME

BASE [CH_07.md:79, :285]. THE GATE IS NAMED HONESTLY RATHER THAN ASSERTED: § 1.5 gates a mid-tier

mammal's Animal Communication response at "Theoricus through Practicus"

[T3_Creatures_Tameable:149], and this row's intelligence_tier cell is EMPTY, so the gate HAS NO

MACHINE-READABLE HOME on the row — the honest form its pair sheet uses. AN EARLIER DRAFT REACHED FOR

trophic_role mid-level AS THE GATE AND THAT ARGUMENT IS STRUCK: § 1.5's "mid-tier" is a class of

INTELLIGENCE — "most mammals, most birds", against simpler species below and cetaceans, corvids,

great apes and octopods above — and trophic position is a food-web rank, not an intelligence class.

The two words are not the same word. The misread is self-refuting in this chapter anyway: it would

make the tiger, which is trophic_role apex, a HIGHER intelligence class than the leopard by nothing

but its diet, and would put every apex predator in the arc into the corvid-and-cetacean band.

Meanwhile CH_07 records a per-capability Neophyte FLOOR with no trade tier stated [CH_07.md:281].

Whether the trades have reached Theoricus by Ch 7 is not something canon says, so this sheet designs

the routes and boards the gate.

"QUARRY-status species and PERMITTED DANGEROUS-status species" [T3_Creatures_Tameable:118] and

this row is PERMITTED and DANGEROUS and carries DROP_BIGGAME_HIDE_MEAT. TRACKING runs on the

vertical sign ladder in § 4 and is a genuinely different skill from the tiger's: the player is

looking for scored trunks and stained forks rather than pugmarks, so the two hunts in this chapter

do not feel like one loop with a reskin. APPROACH is the inverse of the tiger's — the animal is

ABOVE the hunter, so wind matters less and the approach is about arriving with a shot at a crown

the light reaches, which means the hunt has a TIME OF DAY built into it rather than a wind

direction. THE KILL with the weapon and element the animal's hide and mass answer to.

FIELD-DRESSING into hide, claw, meat and sinew at the drop table's rarity grades. THE CONSEQUENCE,

in the doc's own words: "the range thins, the predator that fed on it moves, and the community that

shares the range remembers who took what" [:118] — and on this species that sentence has an edge

the tiger's does not, because the community that shares this range is the one the margin animal

takes stock from, so removing it is a favour to somebody and a hole in the range at the same time.

THE HUNT IS NEVER REQUIRED — the seven-observation chain remains the completionist path [:118].

RELOCATION AND TURF. The animal holds a set of TREES rather than a range boundary, and it rotates

them: a preferred lie-up, two or three alternates, and a larder wherever the last kill was taken.

Under the ruling that rotation IS the trigger geometry, and it means the chapter's most useful piece

of player knowledge is perishable — the tree that was occupied yesterday is empty today and a

different one is not. It BREAKS CONTACT UPWARD rather than away, which is unique in the arc's

predator set and is the reason a fight with it can end without either party dying. It does not follow

onto open laterite where there is nothing to climb [@ EG_0090, TRAVERSAL_SURFACE]. What it does to

the arena is put a MOVING SET of the Ghats crossing's trees off limits, which is a resident's

behaviour and not a set piece's.

7. care_read

— cultural_care_register reads that "hunting an ordinary animal touches nothing of the collective

protection, which is framing-level and never a claim about game animals". Doctrine part five agrees

in terms: ORDINARY_FAUNA carries no collective claim at all and a lane must not re-apply collective

protection to game animals. CH_07's § 17.1 protection is about the Tamil and Malayali communities,

the Siddha tradition, the kalari and temple communities, the smiths and healers and the honored

Raghavendra [CH_07.md:252; south_india.md:406-421] — every one of them a teaching or protected

presence, and not one of them anywhere near a target position on this sheet.

EXPLICITLY. The night envelope is a stock line, which means a community's animals and therefore a

community's loss. THE RULES: no person is ever in the target position, the player is never rewarded

for harm to anyone at the margin, the loss is the WORLD's consequence rather than a scene staged for

effect, and the encounter opens only because the player chose to stand there. Nothing about the

margin is comic, nobody is shown as careless for having stock, and no caste, occupation or community

is attached to the margin at all — the region page's own antagonist rule binds here as everywhere:

the antagonist is an apparatus, never a community [south_india.md:412-417]. The precedent for

building rather than cutting this content is landed and is cited rather than re-argued: CR_0024

examined and REFUSED cutting livestock predation, on the ground that "a predator with nothing to

prey on is a stat block rather than a resident" [CR_0024_sumatran_tiger.md:311-314].

row and the ruled state records it as NO_REACH_RULED under RULING_10. The sheet designs to it and

writes nothing.

names the chapters whose community-and-species relationship establishes the protected register —

Ch 11 Baka-honeyguide, Ch 12 Vodun-python, Ch 29 Sámi-reindeer, Ch 42 Haiti, Ch 57 Australia. Ch 07

is absent, and its absence is the ruling. The region page's two elevated-handling strands are named

and neither is fauna: caste, and the seventh-century religious confrontation

[south_india.md:412-421].

"Kartikeya-Murugan sacred species", CR_0040 the elephant is "Ganesha-adjacent; cross-cultural

sacred", and CR_0041 and CR_0042 are "Siddha-tradition sacred monkey" populations, all four

carrying a cultural_care_register paragraph that puts a WORLD-RULE cost on killing them inside

the precinct. THIS ROW CARRIES NO CULTURAL CELL AT ALL and no precinct. Manufacturing a sacred

register for it in order to be safe would be inventing a tradition, which the care doctrine forbids
