CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (scanned from this document's own citations — widen it by hand where it is thin):
T0_Creature_Roster·T0_SFX_Registry·docs/spine/CH_02.md
READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
STATUS: PROPOSAL-TIER design sheet, written to docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md.
It cites canon rows and writes none.
the row rather than inventing a species for it
T0_Creature_Roster @ CR_0009, CR_0016 · docs/spine/CH_02.md § sfx_substrateNo binomial, by the row's own design. The cohort is an ARCHETYPE SET rather than an animal:
the material form of the mori de tana, the lord of the land, and is a SOLEMN OWNER rather than
ambient life. That row is not this one and this sheet does not touch it.
archetype (coxa, femur, tibia, tarsus), wings as hinged plates rather than membranes on the
beetle-form and as true membranes on the fly- and bee-form; the cohort's rig budget is per
archetype, never per species
None claimed for the cohort. The one Flores insect that carries a tradition is CR_0016 and it is held
separately, deliberately, so that ambient bugs never accidentally inherit a solemn owner's meaning.
ELEVATION BUDGET: ZERO, DECLARED. A cohort row is a framework entry and elevating it would produce a
species the registry never minted.
THE JOB: THE COHORT IS THE VRIL SUBSTRATE'S AMBIENT INSTRUMENT.
The chapter's whole opening premise is that the child arrives EMPTIED into a world whose atmosphere is
thinner than the one they lost, and that vital force can be gathered back at falling water. That is a
gradient, and a gradient needs a needle. The cohort is the needle:
away from it. A player never told a word about vril density feels the world get louder as they
approach the source and quieter as they leave it, and the first recharge lands inside a wall of
sound.
approach to Tiwu Ata Polo — the cohort goes SILENT. Not absent, silent: the sound stops and the
player notices a hole in the mix before they notice anything visual. Negative space, at the scale of
a biome, costing one audio state.
scattering read at a site that must never glow, and it is the difference between "this place is
charged" and "this place has a shader on it".
ONE-LINE READ: you hear where the water is, and you hear where something has been.
EMISSION: none. Nothing in this cohort self-lights, and the standing temptation to put fireflies at a
vril spring is REFUSED here on the record — a bioluminescent insect at the game's first metaphysical
site would teach the player that vril looks like a glow, which is the one thing the element visual law
is built to prevent.
Nothing added. The cohort's articulation budget is per archetype and the anatomy law binds each: a
segmented arthropod limb with named joints, not a wobbling proxy.
None. The cohort is never faced. Its grammar is ATMOSPHERIC STATE, and it has exactly three:
Three states, one instrument, and the third one is a boss tell delivered by scenery.
at the vril site, refused on the light law rather than on taste.
three atmospheric states are INVENTED BY THIS SHEET. The cohort's composition is the row's own
framework entry.
rule.
light shaft — scattering only, no self-lit element in frame.
T0_Creature_Roster @ CR_0009 :: vril_substrate_response is EMPTY, and this row is the mostobviously correct place in the entire roster for that column to carry content.
T0_SFX_Registry owns the ambient enum and creature_vocalization_sfx_id_ref_array is empty on this row; the silence state in
particular is a boss tell delivered through the ambient bed and it needs a writer.
ontology_class and combat_permission EMPTY.
