CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.
Canon served (scanned from this document's own citations — widen it by hand where it is thin):

READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
STATUS: PROPOSAL-TIER design sheet, written to docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md.
It cites canon rows and writes none.
T0_Creature_Roster @ CR_0004 · flores_island.md § 3 (the prey base and the trophic cascade) · docs/spine/CH_02.md § creatures_and_fauna
WHY THIS ROW MATTERS MORE THAN ITS TIER SUGGESTS. It is the first thing in the game a player fights
that is not a designed guardian, and DANGEROUS_GAME is a real class rather than a label — the row
carries a hide-and-meat drop, a FIGHT collect verb, and a defensive temperament. If an ordinary game
animal is a health bar with tusks, the ruling has been satisfied on the bosses and dodged on the
class, which the doctrine names as its own failure mode.
been in fights
vertebrae and a heavy nuchal ligament; 14 thoracic and 6 lumbar vertebrae; two limb pairs, four
digits per foot with the two central digits bearing weight; continuously-growing canines, upper and
lower, the lower honed against the upper (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY)
chapter — lateral bend to about 35 degrees, vertical to about 40 up and 45 down — which is why a
boar turns its whole body to aim and why the aim IS the telegraph; shoulder flexion to about 110
degrees, hip to about 100; the snout disc is a rigid tool with no independent motion
trot and a very fast straight run with a poor turn radius
spine — a body shaped like a chisel pointed at whatever it is looking at
No tradition is claimed and none applies. The row is ordinary fauna with no living-tradition claim,
and the collective protection is not engaged by hunting a game animal. What canon DOES give it is
ecological: the prey base is the ungulate trio the roster carries, prey biomass sets how many great
lizards a stretch of country can hold, and the droppings and tracks a hunter reads double as a map of
where the predator ranges [SRC_00176]. This animal is therefore also a NAVIGATION INSTRUMENT, and
section 6 uses that.
ONE-LINE SILHOUETTE READ: a boar whose shoulders wear a slab of fight-grown gristle, hairless and
polished where it has been hit.
PRIMARY — A3 ARMORED AND BREAKABLE REGIONS. A mature boar grows a dense subcutaneous shoulder shield
of scar-hardened connective tissue from fighting, and in life it is felt rather than seen
(AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY). The elevation makes it VISIBLE: on this animal the shield has grown past the
skin, so the shoulder carries a raised hairless plate of grey-brown gristle with the bristle broken
around its margin, scored with the shallow furrows of old tusk work and polished smooth at the
high points. It is armour the animal grew by being fought, which is the whole doctrine in one
feature — history made structural, no fantasy anywhere near it.
MECHANISM: ordinary mammalian scar hypertrophy given an ordinary boar's ordinary life, and an old
animal in country whose apex predator is thinning as forest goes to farmland gets more of that life
than a young one does.
SUPPORTING — A4 HYPERTROPHY: the lower canines. They are continuously growing and honed against the
uppers, and on this animal they have outgrown the lip entirely, so the tusk line is visible from the
side at rest and the honing wear on the inner face catches light. The upper tusks curl until they
begin to turn back toward the face.
EMISSION: none.
not flex with the skin, so the shoulder's silhouette stays hard through the whole gait cycle, which
is what makes it read at distance.
and the honing face is a fixed plane.
ruling sweeps the class rather than the exemplars.
No boss row exists; this is an ambient permitted-fauna fight. Its grammar is small on purpose and it
is the game's first lesson in ANGLE.
| tell shape | body origin | one answer | counter class worn on the body |
|---|---|---|---|
| the aim | the whole body turns because the neck cannot; the chisel points at the player and stops | move BEFORE it starts, not after | dodge, and the tell is generous |
| the charge | the forequarters drop and the hind legs drive; the line is committed and straight | step off the line laterally at any time | dodge |
| the hook | at contact range the head snaps UP and sideways, the tusk line leading | meet the shoulder shield, not the head | parry, and the shield is the presented surface |
| the stand | the animal stops, faces, and does not close; the bristle over the shield lifts | this is a warning and it is real — leaving works | disengage |
THE STAND IS THE ROW'S OWN TEMPERAMENT MADE PLAYABLE. temperament_prior is DEFENSIVE, which means
this animal does not open the fight. Every encounter with it has a walk-away, and taking the walk-away
costs the player the hide and the meat. That is a live choice with a real price in both directions,
and it is the AGENCY test's answer for an ordinary game animal: the boar decides too.
BREAKABLE PARTS: the shoulder shield, roughly 14 per cent of the standing silhouette. Break event: the
plate splits along a furrow and the shoulder loses its hard line. Subtraction: the hook stops being
safe to meet and the animal starts leading with the charge instead. Material: the hide's best piece.
ESCALATION: POSTURE — the bristle along the spine lifts, which widens the whole silhouette by a
visible margin. BREATH — a fast open-mouthed chuffing on the exhale. VOCALIZATION — the tooth-clacking
that comes from honing the canines, which is the sound of the weapon being sharpened in front of you.
NEW OPENER — the hook replaces the charge once the player has been close twice.
OPENER: the aim. It is the safest thing the animal does and it is the root of everything else.
TURF, and this is the row's second job: where boar sign is thick, the great lizards are near. A player
who learns to read the droppings and the rooting is reading the predator map, which the region page
already rules as a real mechanic. The boar is the game's first instrument as well as its first fight.
is that a lane must not re-apply collective protection to game animals.
from stock reference and a generator handed "wild boar" will not produce it.
temptation to give an ordinary game animal a supernatural upgrade so it "counts". Refused: this row
is ORDINARY_FAUNA and the elevation is real biology made visible, which is what the class deserves.
Inflating it would be the mirror-image defect of flattening the guardians.

canine growth and the honing are AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY. The prey-base ecology and the predator map are

have no data home and the one-answer rule cannot be gated on them. This is the same gap CR_0010
raises from the folklore side, and it is now raised twice.
T0_Creature_Roster @ CR_0004 :: temperament_prior DEFENSIVE is doing real design work here (thestand, the walk-away) and there is no column that says what a temperament DOES. The
aggro/threat lane is where that binding belongs.
