CANON SUBORDINATION — this document is PROPOSAL-TIER: it serves canon and never outranks it.
The canon: the CVD · the T1 foundation docs · the T0 registries (registries/) · the spine
(docs/spine/CH_*.md) · the region pages (_source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/). Authority order:docs/DOC_MAP.md§ 0.

READ THAT CANON FIRST — open it and derive from it before you build anything from this document.
If this document disagrees with canon, CANON WINS and this document is the defect — fix the
document, never the canon. Nothing here is applied until it is ratified into canon.
STATUS: PROPOSAL-TIER design sheet, written to docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md
and critic-gated against its ten refusal tests. It cites canon rows and writes none.
registries/T0_Creature_Roster [DRAFT v0.1]/Sheet1.csv @ CR_0001 · registries/T0_Boss_Encounter_Registry [DRAFT v0.1]/Sheet1.csv @ BE_0002_S1 · _source/02_Tier_2_Region_Pages/flores_island.md § 3 and the guardian-test staging note · docs/spine/CH_02.md CH02_B03THE CONSTRAINT THAT RULES THIS SHEET, READ FIRST AND OBEYED. The region page states plainly that the
Komodo dragon is held on the other side of the folklore line — a real, documented animal, never a
cryptid and never a mythic dragon — and the guardian-test staging note adds that the animal's size is
authorial commentary on the feeding that made it rather than fantasy gigantism. Canon therefore
FORBIDS the two obvious answers to Josh's complaint: this row may not become a dragon and may not be
scaled up. The elevation lives entirely on axes canon permits, and the sheet is built to prove that
those axes are enough — that the failure was never the real animal, it was stopping at the real
animal.

symphysis; cervical chain of 9 vertebrae carrying a long, mobile, laterally-held neck; 30 or so
dorsal vertebrae with rib pairs; sacrum; caudal chain of roughly 60 vertebrae to the tail tip; two
limb pairs on a sprawling girdle, each foot with five digits ending in recurved claws
line, vertical to about 45 up and 30 down; jaw gape to about 60 degrees with the symphysis
spreading a further few degrees on a wide bite; humerus and femur held near horizontal so the
standing elbow and knee sit at roughly 90 degrees — the sprawl is the rest pose and the raised
high-walk is a departure from it; tail is a horizontal whip with about 40 degrees of usable lateral
arc at the base and increasing freedom to the tip; digits flex to about 70 degrees

named for their charge — naga golo and naga beo for a village, naga tana for the soil — with every
village held to keep at least one [SRC_00469], and the sibling row CR_0002 is the being that
vocabulary names. This row is the pair's other half and it is ORDINARY FAUNA. The page says so
twice: the Komodo is a real, documented animal, never a cryptid and never a mythic dragon
[SRC_00457 paragraph], and hunting an ordinary animal touches nothing of the collective protection
(CR_0001's own cultural_care_register cell).
designs it as one unnaturally large, unafraid monitor at the real extremes of the species that
holds ground where a wild animal would turn away, and that dominates the baited spring by
displacing and even preying on the smaller dragons crowded there, its bulk and its boldness being
the visible signature of the feeding that made it [SRC_00175]. The readable tell is the REACTION,
not the distance — the habituated animal does not let the player come closer than a wild one would,
it simply stops reacting when the player arrives [SRC_00175].
cost rather than a wall, so open sun-baked ground runs the animal a shade-debt and it breaks off

of its four region-scoped sources on full-text check, so ambush, stalk, grip-and-hold and bite
pathogenesis enter no cited claim there. Every anatomical statement in section 4 below about the
jaw and its glandular architecture is therefore marked AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY — general zoological
knowledge carried by this sheet as design, never presented as a claim of SRC_00169, SRC_00175,
SRC_00176 or SRC_00177. The gap is boarded as an acquisition target in section 9.
ONE-LINE SILHOUETTE READ: a monitor whose head and shoulders have gone to bone — a low bone-crowned
wedge with a chalk-white crusted underside and long ropes of saliva that swing when it turns.
PRIMARY — A5 AGE AND STATE. This is the axis canon hands over and nobody spent. The animal is decades
old and it has spent those decades in one place, and the sheet writes the place onto the body.
Concrete, paintable:
effectively absent in a hatchling and accumulates for life (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY). On this animal the
bed over the skull roof, the nape and the shoulder is no longer fine mail — it has fused into a
continuous ridged pavement, so the head reads BONY rather than scaled at any distance, with the
ossicles over the eye and temple raised into a shelf that shades the eye and an occipital ridge
behind it. The mail is still visibly granular down the flanks, which is where a player can see what
the crown is a mature form of.
jaw and the inner forelimbs carry a pale carbonate bloom laid down by the same dissolved mineral
load that drives the region's lake chemistry — dried chalk-white, cracked into plates where the
skin flexes, thickest under the throat. The result is a dark dorsum over a white belly line, which
is a free silhouette read the moment the animal lifts off the ground.
reach and the water does.
forefoot with the stump healed smooth and shiny, a tail tip that ends short and blunt.
MECHANISM, as the doctrine requires: decades in the outflow of a vril-dense recharge source
(VS_CH02_001) at a spring the animal never has to leave, because nothing at that spring displaces it.
Ordinary age-ossification given ordinary time that no wild animal at this water gets, plus ordinary
mineral deposition from water canon already describes as mineral-driven. Nothing here is fantasy, and
nothing here is in a photograph of a wild Komodo dragon.
SUPPORTING — A4 HYPERTROPHY, on the apparatus the animal already owns (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY). The lower
jaw is built deep and the intermandibular region is heavy, so the head reads as a wedge with weight
under it rather than a smooth cone. The visible consequence is the drool: long ropes of saliva
hanging from the jaw line as a persistent ground state, swinging with the head and breaking on the
rock. It is a free motion tell at any distance, it wets the stone the animal stands over so the
ground under it reads dark and slick, and it lets the player learn the arena's bad footing from the
animal's own trail. No wound-condition, poison or infection mechanic is claimed anywhere in this
sheet.
SUPPORTING — A3 ARMORED AND BREAKABLE REGIONS. The matured ossicle pavement is not decoration, it is
the part economy this encounter does not have yet. Three regions, section 6.
EMISSION: none claimed. The animal reads by scattering, by wetting-darkening on the drool trail and
the wet stone, by the chalk-white ventral bloom catching the spring's own daylight, and by silhouette
against the waterfall. The GLOW test passes vacuously and deliberately.
chain's lateral sweep at the base drops from about 90 degrees to about 55 on the first three
cervicals while the distal chain is unchanged, so the animal turns its head by turning its
shoulders. That is where the wind-up on the head-slam comes from and why it is readable.
forelimb bone is heavy and why the high-walk stance is the escalation posture rather than the
resting one.
length; they are not cloth, they are not a particle effect with no emitter, and they have a wet
contact decal where they land.
and the stance compensates with a slight outward roll of that limb — which is the animal's
permanent gait asymmetry and the reason its approach is recognisable before the body is.
ENCOUNTER: BE_0002_S1, primary verb EVADE, secondary STRIKE, axis 30/45/25, puzzle-forward, pips 5 at
reveal threshold 1.0 (visible from the first second, because this is a TEST), has_nonkill_path TRUE,
win PURGE;REDUCE, composure nodes puzzle_routed=constriction_lane_step and
environmental=breath_rhythm_attune. The constriction lane belongs to the python half; the land half
owns the strike lane and the breath.
THE BREATH IS THE ENCOUNTER'S CLOCK, AND IT IS REAL ANATOMY. A monitor's ribcage is compressed by the
lateral wave of its own walk, and the animal ventilates with a visible gular pump — the throat floor
rising and falling in a cadence you can count (AUTHORIAL_ANATOMY). Canon's ratified counter is to
attune the breath to open a withdrawal. This sheet makes that mechanically real: the withdrawal window
opens on the gular pump, the pump is the single most visible motion on a still animal, and the chalk
crust under the throat is what makes it read at distance. No other creature in the slice breathes like
this, so the lesson is this animal's alone.
| tell shape | body origin | one answer | counter class worn on the body |
|---|---|---|---|
| tail sweep (the opener) | tail base loads, mass rocks onto the far forelimb, the whole body pivots | side-step INTO the pivot | dodge — a whole-body commitment the player sees it give itself to |
| lunge | body drops into a crouch, both hindlimbs extend, the head-line goes flat and forward | dodge laterally, never back | dodge |
| head-slam | shoulders turn first because the nape shelf will not, then the crowned skull comes down | meet it | parry — the bone shelf is a presented contact surface, visibly meetable |
| grip-and-set | forefeet plant, jaw opens wide, the whole animal stops moving forward | break the plant before the jaw closes | parry into a stagger |
| gular pump idle | throat floor rises and falls, nothing else moves | attune to the cadence | the puzzle lane — the withdrawal window |
No shape carries two answers. The head-slam is the only parry in the land half's kit and it is the
only attack that presents bone.
BREAKABLE PARTS, with the silhouette fraction each occupies at the shipped combat camera:
Break event: the fused plate splits and lifts along one side and the neck under it is visibly bare.
Subtraction: the head-slam leaves the live moveset permanently. Legibility gain: the neck's lateral
ROM returns, so every subsequent turn is faster and the player must re-read a faster animal.
Material: a guardian scute the economy wants.
section of pavement shears and hangs. Subtraction: the pivot on the tail sweep loses its far-side
anchor and the sweep shortens. Legibility gain: the animal begins to favour one side visibly.
the sweep-into-lunge follow-up is gone.
ESCALATION, on the four channels, so a player can name the state change before any meter confirms it:
belly clear of the rock for the first time in the fight.
player the puzzle route is narrowing.
ropes lengthen and stop breaking.
OPENER AND VARIANTS: the tail sweep is the root — the most legible, the least punishing, and the one
the fight teaches first. Its variants share its body origin and are recognisable as the same idea with
more on it: the pivot-sweep (longer wind, wider arc, the far forelimb plants first), and the
sweep-into-lunge (same wind, the crouch follows the arc). The player who learned the root reads both.
RELOCATION AND TURF, which canon supplies rather than this sheet inventing it: the smaller monitors
crowded at the baited spring are this animal's turf, not scenery. They are present when the player
arrives, they scatter at its approach, and it will break off the player to displace or take one — the
region page's own sentence. Drawing the guardian off with a planted lure (also canon) hands the
spring to the small ones and changes the arena. Two residents meeting is a third party that costs the
player nothing to watch, and here it is cited rather than borrowed.
CHAIN-METER BODY STATE: the pips are visible from the first second. Chain progress reads on the body
as the animal's ground clearance and pump rate — as the chain builds it settles lower and pumps
slower, which is the withdrawal arriving. A wiped chain snaps it back up onto its feet.
verbatim: hunting an ordinary animal touches nothing of the collective protection, which is
framing-level and never a claim about game animals. No community is cast as anything by this
encounter.
design and not player agency — the win never requires a kill, and it never hardens into an animal
that cannot be killed. Both halves of that sentence are load-bearing and both are honoured: the
puzzle route is complete and the fought route is complete, and the fought route costs one
ws.serpent_reverence_marks and nothing else.
route is the measured cause of the defect this doctrine exists to fix, and an animal designed at
the individual scale is identity-bearing whatever its ontology class says.
the other direction — against the temptation to protect the animal — and the design ADDS a part
economy, a kill route with real material, a lethal escalation and a turf predation beat. The
guardian-test framing is checked against the defang tell and passes: the encounter is not passive,
the pips demand a chain of correct reads, and the animal is genuinely lethal throughout.
the drool ground-state and the three break regions are INVENTED BY THIS SHEET as the game's own
design for one individual animal. They are not claimed as anything any source says about the
species. The gular pump, the ossicle bed, the sprawl, the thermoregulation and the carrion draw are
