STATUS: PROPOSAL-TIER design sheet. It is the lane's first FOLKLORE BEING WHOSE BODY IS AN IMAGE, and

it lands one correction against a sibling proposal-tier document: KIT_BE_0009_S3 states that the

demon "is never depicted, never given a body, and never described," and the SPINE rules the opposite

in its own asset anchors — "mythologically-stylized only for Werzelya and her scroll-iconography" —

while the chapter's civilizational-marks block names the scroll craft as carrying

"Susenyos-and-Werzelya iconography" [CH_09 § Asset anchors; § Civilizational marks]. Canon wins, the

kit is the defect, and §4 builds the body the tradition itself draws. Every line of the kit's

child-harm handling is preserved intact and restated at full strength in §7 — that floor is not this

sheet's to touch and it does not touch it. It cites canon rows and writes none.

part-one requirement is satisfied by declaring that register's own conventions as the skeleton,

which is what the rest of this block does.

shoulders and torso presented frontally, hips and legs presented in profile, head frontal, the

face dominated by the eyes, the whole figure built from outline and flat fill with no modelling

and no cast shadow of its own. The "joints" are the register's articulation points and there are

exactly six that a drawing of this kind bends at: neck, both shoulders, both hips, and the waist

where frontal meets profile. There is no spine chain, because a flat figure has no depth to chain

through.

ICONOGRAPHIC. She may occupy only poses this register can DRAW. That means no foreshortening, no

three-quarter turn, no perspective, no overlap that the register does not use, and no in-between

pose at all. She does not interpolate — SHE IS REDRAWN. Every change of pose is a substitution of

one complete drawn state for another, which is a real technique with a real name and a real cost

profile, and it makes her motion instantly, unmistakably not-of-this-world without a single

particle, glow or distortion effect.

position change by substitution — she is here, then she is there, with nothing between, and the

demoness of Ethiopian Orthodox protective-scroll demonology, whom the horseman-saint Susenyos rides

down, and whom the debtera's scroll of divine names, measured to the person it guards and bearing

the saint's name, is made to ward off [ethiopia.md § 5; CH_09 § Boss structure; LINK_0158].

civilizational-marks block names the craft as "the debtera's asmat/kitab protective-scroll

tradition (divine names and Susenyos-and-Werzelya iconography measured to the person guarded)," and

the asset anchors rule her visual register directly — "mythologically-stylized only for Werzelya

and her scroll-iconography," against "realistic-ethnographic for the Ethiopian Orthodox community,

clergy, debtera, and highlanders" [CH_09 § Civilizational marks; § Asset anchors]. Canon therefore

states that she has an iconography, that the iconography is part of the protective object, and that

she is the one subject in the chapter whose style is stylized. A design that refuses to depict her

is refusing a canon instruction, not obeying a care one.

seal and net of Solomon are used among Ethiopians, accompanied by spells to scatter demons and to

avert disease [ethiopia.md § 5; SRC_00254, p. 90]. That is the documentary floor: a real, named

class of protective object, made against demons, in living use.

and indispensable to the service, trained in Ge'ez and Amharic and in sacred poetry, song and

rhythmical movement, and holding the reading-and-writing duties of the larger churches

[ethiopia.md §§ 5, 12; SRC_00254, p. 103]. Tibebu (CHAR_0119) is drawn from that office and is

"the protagonist's ally and teacher, never a target, never a sinister sorcerer, and never confused

with the demon he wards off" [ethiopia.md § 5]. The protective/harming distinction inside the

craft is the tradition's own and is carried as LINK_0169, typed parallel-independent with no

transmission claim [ethiopia.md § 5; LINK_0169].

dragon, serpent, sea-beast or demon is a staged boss fight, never defanged, never routed around,

never reduced to a non-combat puzzle [HL_0122; ethiopia.md § 5]. The region page applies it to

her explicitly and draws the boundary that matters: the four-step non-damage containment protocol

governs the sacred-site atmospheric echo class and "never converts a fightable malevolent being

into a containment puzzle," so she is not that class, and "her defeat by inscription is not an

exemption from being fought — the inscription is the win condition of a staged encounter held under

real pressure" [ethiopia.md § 5; HL_0080; CH_09 § Anti-fringe / Frame-A flags].

Werzelya and the scroll craft is Mercier's *Art that Heals*, and it is NOT in the processed corpus.

The region-filtered substrate grounds the protective-amulet-against-demons practice [SRC_00254,

p. 90] and the debtera's office [SRC_00254, p. 103] but not Werzelya herself, so her canon rests on

the spine and the RCM and the acquisition is a Section-16 priority — and the region page rules the

handling in one line this sheet adopts whole: "The hold is a sourcing gap, not a softening — she

stays in at full weight and the citation is owed, not the content" [ethiopia.md § 5].

scroll and the Ge'ez manuscripts as "referenced not reproduced" [CH_09 § Asset anchors]. No real

healing scroll is copied into this game as an asset, and §8 binds the plate set to that.

the specific drawn form of this game's Werzelya, the substitution-motion law, the surface-inhabiting

arena, the lamp-as-camera mechanic, the eye mark, the five tell shapes, and the partial-to-whole

escalation. Her drawn form is the game's own drawing of a being the tradition draws differently, and

the acquisition in §9 is what would let the design meet the real register rather than approximate it.

4. elevation

ONE-LINE READ: a figure out of the scroll's own painted border, standing on the wall at the height of

the lamp, with one eye that never blinks because it was never drawn to.

THE ICONOGRAPHIC REGISTER — DECLARED HERE AND BOARDED (§9). The doctrine's grammar assumes a body

with mass, and the familiar and human registers each amend it. This being needs a third amendment,

and it is the cheapest and strangest one yet: SHE IS MADE OF THE THING THAT DEFEATS HER. The

encounter's win condition is inscription; the tradition's weapon against her is a drawn and written

object; and so the design's answer to "what does she look like" is not a monster standing in a room

but a figure in the register that the ward is made in. She is fought inside the picture, and the

picture is being finished while she is in it.

PRIMARY — A8 MATERIAL SUBSTITUTION. Her body is pigment and ink on parchment and lamp-lit plaster.

The axis's two constraints are met exactly: she still ARTICULATES, and the substitution admits joints

— the six the register bends at, listed in §2 — and she never self-lights, because pigment does not.

She reads by OCCLUSION: she is a dark shape interrupting a lit surface, and every mechanic in §6

follows from that one physical fact. When the lamp moves, she changes size and position, because a

figure on a wall is at the mercy of the light that shows it, and the design turns that into the

arena's central verb.

SUPPORTING — A9 THE MARK, AND IT IS THE EYE. One high-contrast, instantly readable feature: a single

frontal eye, drawn in the register's own way — large, outlined, flat, whiteless or nearly so, and

utterly still. IT DOES NOT GLOW, and the sheet is emphatic because the light law names glowing eyes

as a banned class outright. It reads at any distance for exactly the reason scroll iconography reads

at any distance: a big flat frontal eye is the most legible mark a drawing can carry, which is why

the tradition's own painters use it. It is the encounter's identifier, it is visible when nothing

else of her is, and it is the first thing the player learns to find on a wall.

SUPPORTING — A10 NEGATIVE SPACE, and the absent thing is the CASTER. She is a shadow-dark figure with

nothing standing in the light to make her. The player's eye follows the geometry automatically — lamp

here, figure there, therefore something between — and there is nothing between. It is entirely

light-free, it costs one line of shader work, and it is the exact register the doctrine names for

beings whose meaning is subtraction.

ELEVATION BUDGET: THREE AXES, within the doctrine's two-to-four. Anatomical scale, limb

multiplication, hypertrophy and hybrid form are all deliberately unused, because every one of them

would push her toward the generic movie demon that the chapter's own anti-fringe flag names as the

at-risk claim [CH_09 § Anti-fringe / Frame-A flags].

MECHANISM, per the doctrine's requirement: A8 is pigment and ink occluding lamplight on parchment and

plaster; A9 is a flat painted eye at high contrast; A10 is a cast figure with no caster. EMISSION:

NONE. Nothing in this encounter self-lights. Its single light source is a household oil lamp —

combustion with visible fuel, a colour that tracks temperature, and an ash cool-down — and the whole

fight is a negotiation with where that lamp is.

5. articulation_delta

is a POSE LIBRARY plus a SUBSTITUTION LAW, and both are specified here because the blob test

applies to her exactly as it applies to a body: every state she can be in is named, every state is a

complete drawn figure, and there are no unnamed in-betweens.

boundary, never by interpolation. No tween, no blend, no ease. The animation lane's temptation here

is a smooth eerie glide and it is the wrong instinct — a smooth glide is a 3D creature pretending

to be flat, and a hard substitution is a flat thing being genuinely flat.

inhabit are declared — the scroll being made, an older scroll hanging on the wall, the lamp-lit

plaster, the door frame, and the underside of the roof beams. She may not appear on the cradle, on

any person, or past the threshold, and §7 states that as an absolute rather than a preference.

carries what such a scroll carries: the horseman-saint above, and beneath the spear, her. She ends

the encounter INSIDE THE PICTURE, in the pose the tradition puts her in, on the object made to hold

her off. THE WARD IS A DRAWING OF HER LOSING, and the player watches the last line of it go in.

posture at plate fidelity, a recitation register, and the ability to be seen WORKING for the whole

length of the fight. He is on screen more than she is.

6. fight_grammar

VERBS ARE INSCRIBE AND WARD, axis 20/55/25, Puzzle-dominant. The row's counters, verbatim: read the

tradition's own iconography to inscribe the correct divine names; hold the warded threshold with the

debtera until the scroll is finished. Two phases, evolve-not-swap — the row's clause DEEPENS the

pressure and the cipher rather than adding attacks, and the kit builds twelve abilities on that

clause. This sheet does not restate the kit. It supplies the BODY the kit's tells were missing, and

where the two disagree on whether that body exists, canon settles it (§1, §3).

THE ENCOUNTER'S STRUCTURAL IDEA: THE SCROLL IS THE HEALTH BAR AND IT IS THE PLAYER'S, NOT HERS. The

kit already rules this — the fight's real bar is how much of the writing is done — and the body makes

it visible. Every completed section of the scroll takes something from her: a pressure retires, and,

in this sheet's addition, A SURFACE CLOSES. She has five places to be and the writing takes them away

one at a time, until in P2 she has one, which is why the named approach localises her and why the

last line of the scroll is possible at all.

the held point — she stops moving between surfaces and stands in one place, wholeP2 only, and it is the first time she is completely drawn: the correct name has localised herthis is the WINDOW. Finish the scroll. She cannot be anywhere else and she will not be here againcommit

ONE SHAPE, ONE ANSWER. The lean and the cold share a cause — she is occluding something — and are

distinguished by WHAT is being taken: light, in the first, and the doorway itself, in the second. The

eased pressure is the encounter's cruellest tell and it is the deliberate cross-encounter lesson: it

is the same shape as BE_0006_S1's false relief at the Tovil ward, and the chapter pairing is

deliberate — a player who was fooled in Sri Lanka is not fooled here, and one who was not is fooled

now.

THE 55 IS THE PUZZLE AND THE PUZZLE IS A PICTURE. The row's first counter is to read the tradition's

own iconography, and with a body on the table that stops being an abstraction: what the player reads

is a DRAWING, the drawing has rules, and she is breaking one of them. That is a puzzle a player

solves with their eyes at any language level, in any localisation, without a glossary — which is the

single strongest argument for giving her a form at all.

THE 25 IS THE HOLD, AND IT IS THE PLAYER'S BODY IN A DOORWAY. The row's second counter is holding the

warded threshold with the debtera until the scroll is finished. It is the encounter's only physical

demand and it is deliberately small, because the doctrine's defang tell is about passive OPPONENTS

and this opponent is not passive — she is spending the whole encounter taking the room apart while

two people try to finish a document in it.

BREAKABLE PARTS — HERS ARE SURFACES, and the three currencies are met without a body region in sight:

new scroll itself): break threshold is the divine name that governs it written correctly; break

event is the surface going, visibly and permanently, blank — a wall that she can no longer stand

on looks different from one she can, and the player learns the difference in the first two;

permanent subtraction is one of her pressures retiring, exactly as the kit specifies; legibility

gain is enormous and it accumulates — the room gets emptier of her and the player can see the fight

being won on the walls.

the warded one. The sheet is explicit that she is not defeated by damaging her: nothing in this

encounter reduces her, and the win is a state change on the SCROLL rather than a subtraction from

HER. The part economy is the room's, not the demon's, and that is the correct shape for a being who

is warded off rather than killed.

ESCALATION on the four channels, and the body improves every one of them:

shoulder, cut by the frame. P2 SHE IS A WHOLE FIGURE. That is an escalation announcement a player

can NAME before any meter confirms it, which is exactly what the doctrine asks the channel for, and

it replaces the kit's lamp-lean stand-in with something better while keeping the lamp as the

encounter's instrument.

becomes counting. Kept verbatim from the kit; it is the right channel and it belongs to the ally,

which is the third time in the slice the phase voice has turned out not to be the boss's (§9).

per the kit.

THE OPENER AND ITS VARIANTS: the root is THE LEAN — free, harmless, and it starts the only clock that

matters. The cold is the lean at the door instead of at the wall. The turned figure is the lean's

source made visible. The held point is the lean stopped.

RELOCATION AND TURF: she relocates constantly and only among declared surfaces, and she NEVER CROSSES

THE THRESHOLD. What she does to the arena is make one doorway the entire map. She enters at the

threshold and she leaves warded — bound off, not killed, which is the tradition's own outcome and the

row's own has_nonkill_path.

WIN: the child warded and the household restored, the scroll-demonology lore grounded, and the scroll

STAYS WITH THE HOUSEHOLD — it was made for them, measured to them, and the player never carries it

away. LOSS: the row rules it logs her pressure-pattern for the retry, and §7 states exactly what a

loss is and is not. No fail-wall.

7. care_read

kit at full strength and not weakened by one word of this sheet's additions. The child is never

harmed, never threatened on screen, never shown in distress, and never a failure-state casualty.

No ability in this encounter reaches past the threshold. No difficulty setting changes that. No

pose, surface, or state of Werzelya's may appear on the cradle, on the child, or past the door, and

the pose library in §5 is bounded accordingly. THE FAIL STATE IS THAT THE NIGHT IS LONGER AND THE

SCROLL COSTS THE DEBTERA MORE — never that anything happens to the cradle. HL_0121, HL_0002,

HL_0003, HL_0004 and HL_0005 bind through EG_0124, which carries the heaviest care-ref stack

of any environment row in the slice for exactly this reason.

here; Werzelya is not part of it in the sense the protection means — she is the thing it wards off.

The faith is luminous, the debtera is an ally and a teacher, St Susenyos is honored, the mourning

household is a family in grief rather than a haunted-house set, and nothing in the encounter frames

Orthodox belief as superstition [ethiopia.md § 5; CH_09 § Protected-chapter combat framing].

reduction under examination is the kit's: "the demon is never depicted, never given a body, and

never described." RULED A DEFANG AND OVERTURNED, on canon rather than on preference — the spine's

asset anchors rule her style as "mythologically-stylized," which is an instruction about how she

LOOKS, and the civilizational-marks block names the scroll's Susenyos-and-Werzelya iconography, so

the tradition's own protective object DEPICTS her and the game refusing to is a departure from

canon [CH_09 § Asset anchors; § Civilizational marks]. The honored-adversary rule compounds it: a

myth's own demon is a staged boss fight, never defanged and never reduced to a non-combat puzzle

[HL_0122], and an opponent with no body cannot pass the doctrine's own distance test, has no

posture channel, and cannot be told apart from a scripted timer.

THE DEVIL'S-ADVOCATE READING IS RECORDED FAIRLY, because it is not weak: depicting a living faith's

demon risks producing a generic movie monster, which is the exact at-risk claim the chapter's

anti-fringe flag names, and an invented figure drawn in a real religious register risks reading as

a forgery of that register. Three safeguards answer it and all three are build rules rather than

intentions. (a) REGISTER: she is drawn in the tradition's pictorial language, not in a western

horror one, and the spine's own realistic-ethnographic/stylized split is the ruler. (b) NO

REPRODUCTION: no real healing scroll is copied as an asset, per the chapter's referenced-not-

reproduced rule, and the drawn Werzelya in this game is declared the game's own drawing rather than

a copy of any real scroll's figure [CH_09 § Asset anchors]. (c) NO FLESH: she is never rendered as

a three-dimensional body standing in the room; she exists only as pigment on surfaces, which is

both the design's best idea and the thing that keeps her inside the tradition's own frame.

so this sheet's drawn Werzelya is approximating a register it cannot yet read. The region page's own

ruling governs: the hold is a sourcing gap, not a softening, and the citation is owed rather than

the content [ethiopia.md § 5]. §9 files it as an ELEVATED-ATTENTION DEPTH BLOCKER with a named

consequence, and the plate brief in §8 is written so the acquisition can correct the form without

redesigning the encounter.

the honored-adversary rule — no sovereign-contest shape required, no softening, and no routing

around [HL_0122; ethiopia.md § 5]. The four-step non-damage containment protocol is explicitly

NOT what governs her, because it never converts a fightable malevolent being into a containment

puzzle [HL_0080].

elevated; this one does not. That is not an error to file: the row's care tier describes its

SUBJECT, and this subject is a condemned demon, which carries no collective claim at all — the

elevated-care parties in the beat (the faith, the debtera, the household) are protected by the

chapter's framing and by EG_0124's own hard-line stack, not by inflating the demon's tier. Inflating

it would be the care-tier inflation the standing law names as a defect, and it would quietly hand

the demon some of the protection the FAITH is owed.

frame — the debtera, the household, the scroll's material form, and any liturgical object. No plate

articulation points, the surface list, the lamp-as-camera mechanic, the eye mark, the five tell

shapes, the surface part economy, and the partial-to-whole escalation are INVENTED BY THIS SHEET

9. boarded_debts

PROVISIONAL because this row is its only instance. Its law: no base species, the pictorial

convention IS the skeleton, ROM is what the register can draw, motion is substitution rather than

interpolation, the part economy is the surfaces the being can occupy rather than regions of a body,

and the escalation's posture channel is HOW MUCH OF THE FIGURE IS PRESENT. It is not a one-off —

every attested being whose primary evidence is an image rather than a description is a candidate,

and the arc is full of them; the sweep of the roster for those candidates stays BOARDED.

KIT_BE_0009_S3's care read states the demon "is never depicted, never given a body, and never

described." Canon says otherwise (§3), so the kit carries the defect and should be amended — its

twelve abilities need no change at all, because every one of them gains a body origin from §6 and

none of them contradicts one. Its own ability 4, the iconographic tell, ALREADY assumes she is

depicted in the scroll's painted register, which is the internal evidence that the care line was

written against the kit's own design rather than with it. THE KIT LANE OWNS THE EDIT; this sheet

does not make it.

distinction is deliberate because this chunk carries one of each. The encounter is buildable now.

What the acquisition changes is the FORM of the drawn figure and the composition of the warded

scroll, which are the two places where an approximation of a living tradition's religious register

could read as a forgery of it. Three plates re-brief against it and nothing else moves. It sits

above the Simien zoology and Phillipson/Munro-Hay on this chapter's list and below the Mijikenda

source, which remains the lane's only §17.1 BUILD blocker.

SURFACES IN THE ARENA belonging to no body. This chapter alone has now added architecture, machinery

third occurrence in the slice of a phase voice owned by someone other than the boss (BE_0007's guru,

BE_0008_S2's crowd, and now an ally), and the column cannot express any of them.

The scroll's completion IS a chain with a wiping failure — a wrong name costs a section — and the

puzzle-boss template's five-to-nine chain is the natural fit. The registry lane should decide

whether the scroll's sections are the pips, and if they are, how many.
