STATUS: PROPOSAL-TIER design sheet. It is the slice's first HONORABLE ADVERSARY — the first main boss
who is not an enemy — the first encounter whose win condition is PACIFY, and the first row on which a
kill is available, refusable, and priced. It is also the first sheet in the human register where the
subject is UNCORRUPTED, which turns out to be a harder design than a villain. It cites canon rows and
writes none.

TRAINING, CARRIAGE and EQUIPMENT written onto that rig.
the ROM used must stay inside what a real kalari practitioner reaches, because the tradition's own
extreme flexibility is already remarkable and exaggerating it would make a documented art look
invented. The high kicks, the deep stances and the ground-work of the real form are the ceiling and
they are high enough.
the feet, and he never stands square. His resting posture is already a fighting posture and that is
the first thing a player reads about him.
temple as much as it is a place of training and a clinic, and the deities are installed and
worshipped around the PERIMETER of the space — usually seven to twenty-seven of them, including
forms of the goddess, Siva, Siva and Sakti combined, Ganapati and the past gurus, with local
ancestors and heroes sometimes among them. Unlike major high-caste Kerala temples where the deities
stand at the centre of a series of enclosures with access restricted to the ritual specialist
considered pure enough to approach, the kalari's deities are at the outer perimeter and ALL WHO
ENTER HAVE DIRECT ACCESS, surrounding and suffusing the space with their protection
[south_india.md § 5; SRC_00262].
THE DESIGN CONSEQUENCE: the arena is a sacred space that is OPEN BY DESIGN, and the duel happens
inside a ring of the tradition's own protective presences. The region page draws the contrast
itself — this is the exact counterpoint to the temple threshold earned at Madurai (BE_0007_S2), and
the chapter gets two honest and opposite models of sacred access out of one region.
platform topped with a flower or bud, carved from clay-earth or built of stone, where the guardian
deity resides, usually a form of the goddess, Bhagavati or Bhadrakali [SRC_00262]. Two full
documented rosters exist AND THEY DIFFER, and the region page keeps the difference rather than
resolving it, quoting a master: whatever the deities, what matters most is that you follow your own
tradition [SRC_00262]. This sheet inherits that discipline — the pit built for this encounter is ONE
named kalari's arrangement, never "the" kalari.
life force in the form of the internal breath or wind is situated, which is why they are vulnerable;
breath and wind were assimilated as early as the Vedas into a system in which the animating power of
wind takes the shape of breath [south_india.md § 5; SRC_00262]. THE MARMA MAP IS BREATH-SEATED,
and §6 builds the whole fight on that single fact.
mastery of the hidden points — a gate no student crosses on skill alone, opened only to the one
whose bearing the guru trusts to hold both edges of the knowledge. Raghavendra is trained to it
[CH_07 body prose; §10 CH07_B05].
network has corrupted, serving a code the network cannot buy. He crosses blades not out of malice
but because in his tradition a stranger's worth is tested edge to edge [CH_07 § Boss structure;
T0_Antagonist_Network_Registry @ NW_0006].
the spared-strike mechanic, and the specific carriage details in §4.
THE HUMAN REGISTER APPLIES AND THIS SUBJECT PUSHES IT FURTHER, because BE_0002's hollowed man could
at least carry A10 on his STATE. Raghavendra cannot carry even that. He is not hollow, not corrupted,
not marked, not wrong in any way — he is a good man at the top of his art, and there is nothing about
him to make strange. THE ELEVATION BUDGET IS THEREFORE SPENT ENTIRELY ON CRAFT AND CARRIAGE, and the
sheet states plainly that this is the hardest subject in the chapter to make read at combat distance.
ONE-LINE READ: a man in a pit who never stands square, whose eyes are on your breathing rather than
on your blade, and whose every strike stops a finger's width early until it does not.
PRIMARY — A4 HYPERTROPHY AND ATROPHY, applied to a human as TRAINING rather than as anatomy, which is
the only honest form it takes here. What a lifetime in this art actually builds, all of it documented
and none of it exaggerated: the deep-stance musculature through the hips and thighs, the shoulder and
forearm development of the long staff and the urumi, the foot and ankle conditioning of a floor that
is packed earth below ground level, and the extraordinary spinal mobility the form's own sequences
produce. THE ATROPHY SIDE IS THE INTERESTING HALF AND IT IS A DESIGN CHOICE: he carries NO bulk he
does not use. Beside any armoured opponent in the arc he looks under-built, and he is the most
dangerous person the protagonist has met.
SUPPORTING — A5 AGE AND STATE. He is not young. The art is written on him as HEALED history: old
breaks set correctly by people who knew how (the kalari is a clinic as well as a school, and that
fact is in the citation), the marks of the oil-massage regimen, the wear on the hands from wooden
weapons before steel. Every mark on him is a mark of care received, which is the opposite of the
scarring register the corrupted subjects in this chapter and the last carry — and putting the two
bodies side by side is how the chapter says the same knowledge heals and kills without a line of
dialogue.
SUPPORTING — A9 THE MARK, and it is a BEHAVIOUR rather than a feature, which is declared as a
departure from the axis's usual use. THE STOPPED STRIKE: every attack he throws stops a finger's
width from the marma point it was aimed at. He does this from the first exchange, he does it without
comment, and he does it whether or not the protagonist has noticed. It is instantly readable, it is
unique to him in the whole slice, and it carries his entire character: a man who can end this at any
moment and is instead measuring. When it stops happening, the fight has changed — and §6 spends that.
MECHANISM: mastery, and nothing else. There is no vril elevation on this subject, no supernatural
component, and no manifestation. He is a man who trained. The doctrine's requirement that every
elevation name its mechanism is answered by naming the absence of one, deliberately: in a chapter
whose whole subject is a real tradition's real knowledge, the most respectful and the most
frightening thing the game can say about Marmakkalai is that it needs no magic to be terrifying.
EMISSION: NONE, trivially and permanently.
The blob test passes because there is nothing to blob.
carry, because a human boss fails silently in exactly this gap:
otta, and the blade — each with its own idle, its own guard and its own footwork, because the
grading ladder the protagonist climbed is built out of them and a player who learned them will
read him by them;
SIMULATED or physically-authored object rather than a rigid mesh. It is the one piece of
equipment in this chapter that cannot be faked, and if it is faked the encounter's most
distinctive weapon becomes its cheapest-looking one;
§6 makes breath the fight's primary information channel and a breath the player cannot see is a
tell that does not exist;
difference between "he stopped" and "he missed" is entirely in the deceleration, and it is the
whole read.
perimeter deities installed around it with direct access, the puttara in the south-west corner. It
is small, it is enclosed, and there is nowhere to go, which is what makes a duel a duel.
VERBS ARE DUEL AND PROVE, axis 45/20/35. The row's counters: "answer a marma strike with the correct
kalari defense; meet his testing with honest fighting that reads clean."
THE FIGHT IS AN EXAM AND BOTH PARTIES KNOW IT. There is no ambush, no surprise, no phase where he
pretends. He announces the test, he runs it, and he tells the player how they are doing by what he
does next — which is the most legible boss in the slice and is deliberately so, because the
DIFFICULTY here is not information, it is discipline.
| tell shape | body origin | one answer | counter class |
|---|---|---|---|
| the loaded stance shifts to the near foot | weight cycles forward; the near shoulder drops a fraction | meet it with the matching kalari defence — the form has one | parry-class |
| the strike that stops early | full commitment through the shoulder, arrested a finger's width out | do NOTHING with it; it was information, not an attack | strike restraint |
| the breath-seated line | he moves to a vital spot as the protagonist's own breath turns over | break the LINE before it completes, not the strike | the puzzle lane |
| the whole-body commitment with the urumi | the flexible blade is loosed and the body gives itself to the arc | dodge — there is no meeting a thing that folds | dodge-only |
| the opening he leaves | the guard opens on a marma line and stays open | THE FORK LIVES HERE — take it, or answer it as a form | FORK_CH07_A |
ONE SHAPE, ONE ANSWER, and two of the five answers are restraint. That ratio is the encounter.
THE BREATH IS THE FIGHT'S INFORMATION CHANNEL, and it is built directly on the cited account that the
vital spots are where the life force in the form of the internal breath is situated [SRC_00262]. He
attacks on the protagonist's breath rather than on their guard. A player who learns to control their
own breathing — which the kalari grading beats (CH07_B05, CH07_B06) have already taught them —
becomes hard to read, and that is the mechanical form of "meet his testing with honest fighting."
ESCALATION — the row's phrase is "tightens/deepens the same marma exchanges", and this sheet holds it
with nothing added at any phase.
stops get closer. Nothing new is thrown.
is both the compliment and the danger, and the opening he leaves is real.
THE FOUR ESCALATION CHANNELS: POSTURE — his stance rises slightly across the phases, which in this
art means he is committing more, not less. BREATH — his own breathing becomes readable to the player
in P3, offered rather than leaked, because he has decided this is an exchange between equals.
VOCALIZATION — the guru's count. The pit calls the score aloud so the whole room hears where the
protagonist stands [CH_07 body prose], and the escalation channel is that the calls get further apart
until they stop, which is how the player knows the exam has become a fight. NEW OPENER — the stopped
strike stops stopping.
OPENER AND VARIANTS: the root is THE EXCHANGE — an attack met and answered inside the form. Every
variant is that exchange tighter, faster, closer to a real line, or with a different weapon in it.
BREAKABLE PARTS: NONE, AND THE ABSENCE IS THE SUBJECT. He wears no armour and carries nothing to
break; a human enemy's part economy lives in equipment, and this one has almost none. hitzone_parts
is legitimately empty (§9). What the encounter has instead of a part economy is the FORK.
CHAIN-METER BODY STATE: has_nonkill_path TRUE and the non-kill is the WIN — pacify by
yielding-into-respect. Progress shows in his margins: the closer his stops land, the further the
protagonist has got. The player can read their own score off his blade.
RELOCATION AND TURF: none. Neither party leaves the pit. This is the slice's only fully bounded
one-room encounter and it is correct: a duel that can be walked away from is not a duel.
WIN: the final exchange yielded into respect — an ally no coin can buy, rooted to South India. LOSS
AND THE OTHER DIRECTIONS: fighting hollow loses the ally and logs his marma tells; taking the killing
blow he leaves refusable ends the honourable line at explicit integrity cost. The Siddha-integrity
lore fragment drops on every path — no fail-wall.
communities, the smiths and healers are allies and protected non-targets, and Raghavendra himself is
named among them in the chapter's framing [CH_07 § Protected-chapter combat framing; HL_0003;
HL_0123]. This encounter is a member of a living community fighting the protagonist WITHIN his own
tradition's rules, in his own tradition's sacred space, and losing or winning changes nothing about
the community's standing. The §17.1 collective line is untouched because the individual is not
standing in for anyone.
honorable_adversary, and the row's EXEMPT_DESTRUCTIVE names HL_0122's exactcase. The exemption is not a shield: THE LETHAL OPTION EXISTS, it is reachable, it is typed on
FORK_CH07_A, and it is PRICED. A protection that removed the option would be the defang; a price
that the player can choose to pay is the design.
institution the antagonist network has corrupted, and he is UNAWARE of it. The corruption is real,
it is named at the institutional level, and it is never seated in him — which is the same
seat-the-malevolence-in-the-broker method the doctrine's Flores exemplar uses, applied to an
institution rather than to a bargain. The player fights a good man serving a code; the corruption is
elsewhere and is not this encounter's target.
living documented art, and he must not be raw-generated with negative prompts as the control. The
kalari, its perimeter deities and its puttara are REFERENCED, never reproduced, and the deities in
particular are present and honoured and are never assets in a fight.
main boss the player is meant to spare a defang? The pass says NO. (1) Nothing was reduced — the row
arrived PACIFY with the kill priced, and this sheet added the price rather than removing the kill.
(2) The fight is the most DIRECT in the slice at 45/20/35, at length, against the most skilled
opponent the protagonist has faced, in a room with no exit. It is harder than a monster. (3) The
devil's-advocate direction: could this be bolder? The bolder option considered was making him
CORRUPT — an enforcer who takes the coin — and it was rejected on grounds recorded here, because it
would delete the chapter's whole thesis: the antagonist family's irreducible problem is that some
people cannot be bought, and a game that never shows one has not earned the claim. The boldness went
instead into the refusable killing blow, which lets a player end an honourable man in a sacred room
and carry it.
guru's-count escalation channel and the healed-history material read are INVENTED BY THIS SHEET and
are the game's own. The kalari's perimeter-deity arrangement and open access, the puttara, the
differing documented rosters, the vital-spot/breath account, the grading ladder and its weapons, and
the Marmakkalai fourth level are CITED.
Raghavendra is UNAWARE and nothing beyond his tradition surfaces on any line he speaks. The

is not this encounter's business and its script is not identified anywhere in this sheet.

hitzone_parts EMPTY AND CORRECTLY SO — an unarmoured human duellist has no part economy. This isthe FOURTH instance in the slice of the "empty by design versus empty as backlog" schema gap
(BE_0005_S3, BE_0006_S2, BE_0006_S3, and now here), and it is now the most-repeated finding the
bestiary lane has produced. A gate that cannot tell the two apart will eventually read a completed
row as an unbuilt one.
