STATUS: PROPOSAL-TIER design sheet, written to docs/proposals/bestiary/BESTIARY_ELEVATION_DOCTRINE.md
§ 4's nine-block grammar and critic-gated against its § 5 refusal tests. It cites canon rows and writes
none. It is the fourth and last sub-boss sheet of the BE_0005 set and the only one staged off the
anchor: BE_0005_S1, S2 and S3 sit in sumatra_java, and this row is the Angkor SPREAD
excursion's own encounter, staged and owned on the angkor_khmer page
[angkor_khmer.md § Derived Indexes :90-96; sumatra_java.md § Derived Indexes :76-85].
It carries TWO SUBJECTS IN TWO REGISTERS — a man and the stone that has stopped agreeing with him —
and it designs both, because they arrive in one encounter. It is written to be read against
docs/proposals/combat/kits/KIT_BE_0005_S4.md, which describes the FIGHT this body fights; where this
sheet and that kit could drift, § 6 consumes the kit's twelve abilities rather than re-authoring them.

functions [discovery, learning, traversal] [CH_05.md :98] and bayon_taprohm is functions
[character, discovery] [:100]. SO THE WARD PRESENCE ON THOSE TWO ZONES IS AMBIENT AND READ-ONLY —
the player SEES the facing and the raised heads and is barred by them, and does not fight there. The
ENCOUNTER stages at west_baray, the one zone carrying functions [puzzle, combat]
[CH_05.md :102]. The composure node environmental=ward_construct_ascent therefore reads as a
three-zone CONDITION with a one-zone RESOLUTION, and § 9 boards the functions implication: a ward
ascent that is a named composure node on a row whose only combat/puzzle zone is the barrage is
either an ascent that resolves at the barrage (this sheet's reading) or two zones whose functions
columns are under-declared, and the schema cannot currently tell those apart.

[angkor_khmer.md § Derived Indexes :96; Zone Catalog care-tier overlay :85]. This sheet's subjects

holds the elevated obligation where it belongs rather than importing it onto these two bodies.

running the causeway's length, terminating in a fan of SEVEN necks rising from one shoulder block at
each end. Each coping block is a vertebra. THE RAIL IS THE BODY AND THE CAUSEWAY IS THE FLOOR.
AMPLITUDE RATHER THAN A CUMULATIVE SUM, stated that way because a naive accumulation down a long
rail gives a nonsense number. The blocks do not all bend the same way at once: the rail carries a
TRAVELLING WAVE whose local curvature is bounded by that 3-degree per-block limit, and its crest
amplitude is on the order of a metre of lateral travel measured against the rail's own resting line,
passing along the causeway rather than accumulating along it. So the player experiences the EDGE OF
THE PATH moving in a slow wave rather than a creature animating, and no point on the rail is ever
more than about a metre from where it was. Each neck rises from the fan to about 45 degrees; NO
lateral movement in any neck, because a fan carved from one shoulder block has no lateral freedom.
the causeway. That is not a flourish — it is the care law made structural, because a balustrade that
tears itself out of a protected monument has damaged the monument, and nothing in this encounter
damages a balustrade [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § the arena, EG_0037; § the care read].

a long carved club-or-mace, butt to the plinth and shaft rising past the shoulder, TO ONE SIDE OF
THE BODY. An asymmetric held attribute is standard-class iconography for this guardian type and is
reference-safe — the row's ward forms are the temple-guardian iconography "drawn as the ethnographic
and epigraphic record hold them" [CH_05.md § Everything-woven, Superstition :82], so the attribute
is a build off the class rather than an invention onto sacred sculpture. THE DESIGN CONSEQUENCE IS
THE WHOLE POINT: because the attribute sits off-axis, a 180-degree rotation moves it from one edge
of the figure's outline to the other, so the facing change is a genuine OUTLINE change and not two
identical black fills. Attachment: carved integral to the figure at the hand and the plinth,
therefore no joint and no independent ROM — it is part of the body's own volume and travels with it
on the one degree of freedom below. This satisfies the blob test by having nothing to attach: the
attribute is not an addition to the skeleton, it is a redistribution of the existing mass off the
centre line.
Nothing else moves. That is the entire declaration and it is deliberate — the doctrine's machine
register names "the one degree of freedom the encounter is actually about" [doctrine § 3B], and on
this row it belongs to a statue rather than to a mechanism.

Every claim below carries its citation or is declared INVENTED. The sheet cites file:line into the two

it will build the wards as allies and lose the encounter: the kit's note that "they are not awake

wards bar EVERYONE, the player included, because the sanctuary's condition is wrong and their charge
is the condition. The sanctuary's interest and the player's coincide; the wards are the sanctuary's
REFUSAL rather than anyone's ally. Canon wins and the kit agrees when read exactly.

guardian-construct trial" in the sound design [angkor_khmer.md § 10 :663-668; CH_05.md
§ Asset anchors :270]. LOW DENSITY IS AN ARGUMENT FOR THE TINY ROM, not a problem to work around:
six degrees of freedom on a dvarapala is what a low-density site can afford, and the design says so
rather than pretending the number is a style choice.
course-by-course skeleton and its degree counts, the plinth-rotation and jamb-socket freedoms, the
three-degrees-per-coping-block rail figure and its travelling-wave amplitude, the yaksha attribute's
OFF-AXIS PLACEMENT and the outline delta it buys (the attribute CLASS is attested per CH_05.md
:82; its use as the silhouette carrier is this sheet's), the two uncited SCALE FIGURES (the
dvarapala at roughly two to two and a half metres, and the hundred-metre order of the causeway rail),
the raised-head COUNT as a meter, the dry-hem occupational-absence read, the trunk-turn carriage
note, his ADDED works at the barrage (the pegged shutters and the stoplog stack), the
grit-from-the-course-lines material read, the wet mark on the barrage face as the second meter, and
the TWELVE tell shapes of § 6 — of which two, and only two, carry silhouette fractions, because
fractions belong to the part economy's two entries and not to a tell.
ONE-LINE SILHOUETTE READ: a clean dry vertical in court silk holding a sealed document out at arm's
length, and behind him every carved guardian on the causeway turned to face the sanctuary instead of
the road.
That is the kit's own silhouette read — "a court official with a sanction, and behind him a sanctuary
that has stopped agreeing with him" [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § identity] — restated as a thing a black fill
can carry, which is the form the doctrine's distance test wants.
BUDGET: FOUR AXES across two subjects, at the doctrine's ceiling and no further. One PRIMARY on the
wards, two supporting on the wards, one supporting on the man. Applying more would produce the chimera
the doctrine warns about, and this row is already carrying four bodies.
§ 3A.1's four poles are a checkable design law rather than a flavour, so the selection is argued. The
rival reading is CORRUPTED-AND-KNOWING (BE_0008's pole), and it has a real case: the region page
calls his motive "purely local, opportunistic" [angkor_khmer.md :50], and an opportunist who monetizes
a collapse looks like a man who simply knows what he is doing.
IT LOSES ON THE ROW'S OWN EVIDENCE. The knowing pole's design signature is that NOTHING WAS TAKEN FROM
HIM and he never felt a need to make a case; the self-justifying pole's is that he has a coherent
account of himself, he believes it, and THE ENCOUNTER MUST LET HIM MAKE HIS CASE OUT LOUD. This row
does not merely permit that — it is built on it. His entire phase-1 defence is a DOCUMENT rather than
a weapon [KIT_BE_0005_S4 ability 7], the row's second counter is to strip his SANCTIONED COVER by
reading the record against him [BE_0005_S4 :: counters], and the region page names precisely what
the account is: he exploits a divine-kingship claim the faith does not require, on a formula that is
scholarly-contested rather than false [angkor_khmer.md § 5 :387-393]. A man whose armour is a
contested doctrine is a man arguing, and the doctrine's own note applies exactly — "this is the most
reusable pole in the register, because the arc's institutional antagonists are nearly all this one",
and a devaraja-court official is an institutional antagonist by definition.
THE POLE'S FIRST LAW IS THEREFORE BINDING ON EVERY PLATE THIS SHEET DISPATCHES: THE CORRUPTION MAY NOT
BE VISIBLE ON HIS FACE. No sinister mark, no cruelty in the features, no villain's physiognomy. A man
who looks corrupt has been let off, and on a member of a living tradition's community he is worse than
let off — he is a defamation of a face. The elevation lands on the ABSENCE of an occupational mark,
which is the axis below.
§ 3C's iconographic register is for a being whose primary evidence is an IMAGE and whose body is the
medium that depicts it, and its rules follow from flatness: no foreshortening, motion by substitution,
the part economy on SURFACES. The wards fail that test in the right direction — their primary evidence
is CARVED ARCHITECTURE in three dimensions, with a real material, a real core and a real joint system
[angkor_khmer.md § 9 :634-637]. So they build as CONSTRUCT, on the grammar BE_0005 already used
for the pangulubalang and the singa facade, and § 3C's rules about drawing do not bind.
ONE § 3C RULE IS IMPORTED DELIBERATELY, because it is a care rule rather than a pictorial one and its
subject is identical: where the depicting tradition is LIVING, the being is rendered in that
tradition's own register and never a western horror one, and no real devotional object is reproduced
as an asset. Angkor Wat "has never truly ceased functioning as a place of worship for ~900 years and
is an active Buddhist temple to this day" [angkor_khmer.md Zone Catalog note :78-81], so the
tradition is as living as any on the shelf. § 7 and § 8 carry that rule to the plates.
ONE high-contrast, instantly readable identifying feature, and the doctrine's number is one. Here it
is not an object on a body: IT IS A ROTATION. A door guardian faces OUT. These face IN.
The kit already names it as the encounter's most important tell — "the door's guardian faces INWARD
instead of outward … a ward that turns inward is guarding against what is already inside, and reading
that is the encounter's first real information … The most important tell in the fight and it is a
statue's facing" [KIT_BE_0005_S4 ability 4]. This sheet's job is to make it a BODY fact, and § 2d
does twice over: the yaksha's one and only degree of freedom is rotation in its jamb socket, so the
mark is not merely readable — it is the ONLY thing that subject can do; and the figure's carved
attribute sits OFF THE CENTRE LINE, so the rotation moves a shaft from one edge of the outline to the
other and the facing change survives a black fill.
WHAT THE MARK CLAIMS, STATED HONESTLY AS A TWO-RANGE READ RATHER THAN AS A PURE-SILHOUETTE ONE. At
NEAR AND MIDDLE RANGE the mark is a full read: the face, the gaze, the attribute and the body's
three-quarter turn all resolve, and the player knows at a glance that a door guardian is guarding
inward. AT COMBAT-CAMERA DISTANCE IN BLACK FILL the mark survives as ONE THING — which edge of the
figure the shaft rises on — and that is a real silhouette delta rather than a claim of one, but it is
a single-bit read and the sheet does not pretend it is more. THE ATTRIBUTE IS THE WHOLE REASON THE
DISTANCE TEST PASSES ON THIS BODY; without it, idle and roused are the same fill and the mark is a
near-read only. § 6's distance-test block states the delta and § 8's PLATE A and PLATE I dispatch it.
WHY IT IS STILL THE STRONGEST MARK AVAILABLE ON THIS SUBJECT. It costs no anatomy, adds nothing to a
living tradition's sacred sculpture beyond the attribute its own iconographic class already carries
(which is the exact failure BE_0005_S2 refused on Mahakala), needs no HUD, and is a
NEOPHYTE-REGISTER read by construction — the player sees which way a statue is looking, which is a
behavioral tell and never a vril-signature read [HL_0028/HL_0017; angkor_khmer.md § 11 :706].
A creature carrying three marks carries none, so the constructs get this one and no other.
MECHANISM, and the doctrine requires one: a ward-object is worked stone consecrated to a CHARGE, and
the charge is a standing condition on the object rather than a life in it. When the sanctuary's
condition is violated the charge is no longer satisfied and the object acts on it. Physically that
means the object moves through EXACTLY the freedoms its own masonry gives it and no others — vril
alters real physics rather than suspending it, so a cramped sandstone course can rotate on its bed and
cannot bend. THE RULE IS CHECKABLE: if a ward ever articulates where it has no course, no cramp and no
socket, the design has broken itself and the asset is wrong.
The bodies are not flesh and are not pretending to be. They are sandstone over laterite, pinned with
iron [angkor_khmer.md § 9 :634-637], and every read the player gets is a masonry read:
in visible STEPS with a stone-on-stone grind and a ring of iron in a socket, never in a smooth
organic arc. That single decision does more anti-slop work than any texture pass.
and they keep falling for a second after it stops. This is the same non-emissive grammar
BE_0005_S2 built for Borobudur and BE_0004_S1 before it — and it is now owed by a THIRD row with
no owner, which § 9 boards.
core, so a ward's exposed core reads coarser and redder than its face. The player learns the
difference on the causeway and then reads it on the barrage, where the official's ADDED works are
timber and cord against everything else being stone — the one thing in frame that Angkor did not
build.
against the sky, by wetting-darkening at the water line, and by grit in the air. The one authored
non-visual channel is the vril-cast AUDIO tier for the guardian-construct trial
[angkor_khmer.md § 10 :668], which is sound and not light.
MECHANISM: the material is the mechanism. Stone under vril charge has the freedoms stone has.
The doctrine's own warning on this axis is the design brief: "a seven-necked body that telegraphs with
one neck has six pieces of decoration." The balustrade's seven heads are ATTESTED
[angkor_khmer.md :52, § 5 :376-381], so the axis is a build rather than an invention — but the seven
still have to earn their necks.
THEY DO IT BY BEING A NUMBER. Each raised head lifts one bay of the rail and NARROWS THE APPROACH BY
ONE BAY. The count is the encounter's HUD-free meter for how far the sanctuary has turned, it only
goes UP, and it reaches seven at the phase change — at which point the causeway is a single-file lane
and the kit's escalation line is literally true: "the wards stop facing the approach and start facing
the sanctuary, all of them, together" [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § escalation]. Seven heads, seven consequences,
one read.
WHICH FAN THE METER READS, NAMED SO IT IS NOT AMBIGUOUS: § 2c gives the rail a seven-neck fan at EACH
end, so the causeway carries fourteen heads and a meter that just said "count the heads" would be
unreadable. THE METER IS THE FAN AT THE END THE PLAYER IS APPROACHING — the near terminal, the one
squarely in frame on the walk in, read from zero to seven. THE FAR FAN IS NOT A SECOND METER AND NOT A
SECOND COUNT: it mirrors the near one one beat LATE, which is a deliberate second-order read for a
player who looks past the fight — the far end tells her what the near end is about to do. Both fans
are at seven together at the phase change.
MECHANISM: the necks rise from a single shoulder block, so each is a lever on the same fulcrum and
each carries a measurable length of rail. Nothing is added to the carving; the carving is asked to do
the thing its own geometry already implies.
§ 3A.1 rules that on the self-justifying pole "the elevation lands on the ABSENCE of an occupational
mark rather than the presence of a sinister one." This encounter supplies the absence for free,
because of where it is staged.
EVERY OTHER BODY AT THE BARRAGE CARRIES ITS WORK. west_baray's footfall surface is MUD with
water-shallow secondary [angkor_khmer.md Zone Catalog :75]. The sluice-men are wet to the thigh. The
labourers the empire runs on are the corvée workforce the rice surplus fed [§ 2 :154-156], and the
temple domains alone drew goods and service from tens of thousands of people [§ 4 :203-209]. The
quarry-and-canal trade leaves sandstone dust on everyone who touches it [§ 9 :634-637].
HE IS THE ONE FIGURE ON THE BARRAGE WHOSE HEM IS CLEAN AND WHOSE FEET ARE DRY. That is the absence,
it reads at any distance in silhouette (a clean vertical against a rank of figures broken at the
thigh by water), and it says the true thing about him rather than a lurid one: he has never done a
day of the work whose product he is holding back. MECHANISM: this is the self-justifying pole made
physical. Nothing was taken from him, so there is no subtraction to find on his body — the subtraction
is on the INTERFACE between him and the place, and it is the absence of the place's own marks.
him or on any retainer or sluice-man in the encounter. The human register's elevation budget on
anatomy is zero and this sheet spends none of it.
dvarapala, the naga-balustrade and the yaksha are the iconography as the record holds it
[CH_05.md :82]. What this sheet adds is a DECLARED SET OF FREEDOMS in existing masonry, listed
once here so an asset lane can refuse anything outside it:
arm elbow 30, head block 25. Attachment: the plinth to the causeway's own paving course. Weight:
straight down the stack, always.
seven necks at 45 degrees of rise from one shoulder block, no lateral. Attachment: the rail's
footing courses, which it never leaves. Weight: on its own footing at every instant.
threshold course. Weight: down the jamb, unchanged in every position.
increments with the grind and the iron ring, distinct from every organic rotation in the chapter.
and the causeway edge's geometry are the same authored thing rather than two things layered. If
they are ever authored separately the encounter has become a set piece — the same finding
BE_0005_S3 recorded about the caldera floor.
motion. A head that is up must stay up and must be legible from anywhere on the causeway.
bodies and shared with BE_0005_S2 and BE_0004_S1.
the retainers' guard step, used on mud.
rather than anatomy: a stack of timber stoplogs seated in the outlet channel's own slots and a set of
pegged shutters on the sluice gates. They are declared INVENTED (§ 7). They matter because the care
law is exact: the community's hydraulic works are never sabotaged, never breached, never weaponised,
and ability 12 REPAIRS them [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § the arena, EG_0030; § the care read]. So the thing
that comes off in this encounter is HIS ADDITION, not Angkor's engineering — the dike is never cut,
the sluice is never smashed, and the water leaves the way the builders intended it to.
encounter's climactic change is a LEVEL and a flow rather than a creature state.
VERBS ARE EXPOSE AND OUTMANEUVER, axis 30/40/30, puzzle-forward. Two phases, evolve-not-swap, and the
row's clause is explicit: phase 2 "calls in more temple wards and court leverage on the same grammar"
— no new ward type and no new argument, more of both [BE_0005_S4 :: phase_breakdown_object].
THE ENCOUNTER'S STRUCTURAL IDEA: THE PLAYER IS FIGHTING A CLAIM, NOT A MAN. Phase 1 teaches that the
temple's own stone has an opinion and that the opinion is not his. Phase 2 puts the same opinion in
writing — the carved record answers him in the sanctuary he is standing in, which is the row's named
weak point and the lane its win_condition runs through [KIT_BE_0005_S4 ability 11]. A player who
never reads a wall can still finish the encounter by restoring the flow, because the row carries two
counters and the fork plays through on every option [CH_05.md §10b :187-196]. A player who reads the
wall wins the argument as well as the water.
THE THREE-VERB WIN CONDITION, GLOSSED because EXPOSE;PURGE;REDUCE is three different things
happening to three different subjects: EXPOSE is the court network named and his cover stripped; PURGE
is the sanctuary's condition restored so the wards settle; REDUCE is what happens to the man, on the
route the player chooses. has_nonkill_path is TRUE and the killing blow is offered on him alone.
| tell shape | body origin | one answer | counter class worn on the body |
|---|---|---|---|
| THE INWARD FACE — a door guardian is looking into the room instead of out of it | the yaksha's one degree of freedom, rotated in its jamb socket | read it: the ward is guarding against what is ALREADY INSIDE, and that is the encounter's first real information | neutralize — the inscription-and-cover lane |
| THE ROUSED WARD — a guardian figure shifts its weight and the causeway narrows | a dvarapala's plinth course turning on its bed, grit off the course-lines | nothing is coming; take the changed lane. The free lesson, and the opener | any (free) |
| THE SET FOOT — both feet on the causeway's centre line | the dvarapala's mass through the stack into the paving | hard cover behind the balustrade's own rail — the rail is on the causeway's side | cover |
| THE UNWINDING RAIL — the carved coil travels toward the water | the coping-block chain, three degrees at a time along its whole length | dodge off the rail's line; there is no cover on a rail's own arc | dodge_only |
| THE HEADS THAT WERE DOWN — figures that were still on the way in are not still on the way out | additional wards along the whole approach, raised off-frame | the read is WHICH figures have moved since the approach — a memory problem across the level, answered by taking cover on the count you remember | cover |
| THE FULL RESERVOIR OVER DRY FIELDS — the water is high and the channels below the barrage are dry | the barrage itself, and the reservoir's held head | the puzzle lane: inlet, reservoir, sluice, rice-grid. This is the grievance and it is physical | any |
| THE MEN TO THE GATES — workers move to the sluices the moment the player does | his sluice-crew's own footwork on the barrage crest | REACH A GATE FIRST. The answer is the gate, because the sluice-men are the community's working people and are protected non-targets by canon [CH_05.md § Protected-chapter combat framing :246] — not because the encounter is squeamish. See § 7 pass (4) | trigger_interrupt |
| THE PRODUCED DOCUMENT — a sealed edict comes out at arm's length instead of a weapon | his own hands and the trunk-turn that presents it | strip the sanction: read the sanctuary inscriptions and the Bayon war-galleries against it — the row's own second counter | neutralize |
| THE STAIR HELD — the escort take the stair rather than the ground | the retainers' formation on the terrace | cover, and take the ground they gave up | cover |
| THE HELPER WHO STOPS — someone who was helping the player stops | his standing, applied to a person in the room | neutralize the standing rather than the person; his sanction is the part that breaks | neutralize |
| THE TEXT THAT DISAGREES — the carved record says something other than what he said it says | the sanctuary's own inscription, read aloud | the named weak point. EXPOSE;PURGE;REDUCE runs through here | weak_point |
| THE FALLING LEVEL — the reservoir drops and the channels below run | the barrage, opened at its own outlet | the win. The clearest good thing the player does in the chapter | any |
ONE SHAPE, ONE ANSWER — AND THE THREE neutralize SHAPES ARE DISTINGUISHED BY TARGET, not left to a
coin flip. THE INWARD FACE neutralizes a MISREADING (the player believes the wards are his and stops
believing it). THE PRODUCED DOCUMENT neutralizes a CLAIM. THE HELPER WHO STOPS neutralizes a STANDING.
They never occur in the same second in phase 1, so each lesson lands separately before phase 2
overlaps them. THE THREE cover SHAPES — THE SET FOOT, THE HEADS THAT WERE DOWN and THE STAIR HELD —
are likewise separated by what the cover is FOR rather than by class: the set foot wants an object
between the player and a ward that has taken the centre line (a spatial answer); the heads that were
down want the player somewhere she REMEMBERS being safe, because the geometry changed off-frame (a
memory answer); and the stair held wants cover on the way to ground the escort has vacated (a
positional answer, and the only one of the three where the cover is a step toward something rather
than away from it). Three geometries, one class, and the arena disambiguates each.
THE ONE-ANSWER TEST ON THE ROW'S OWN COUNTER CELL, ANSWERED EXPLICITLY. The row reads "restore the
correct baray flow …; read the sanctuary inscriptions and the Bayon war-galleries to strip his
sanctioned cover" — two counters, which at first glance looks like one encounter with two answers. It
is not one shape with two answers: they answer TWO DIFFERENT SHAPES (the reservoir and the document),
they are the row's two composure nodes by name
(puzzle_routed=baray_flow_restore__inscription_cover_strip), and either alone completes the
encounter because the fork plays through on every option. Two roads, not a guess.
THIS ROW USES TWO HOMES AND DECLARES A THIRD AS AFFIRMATIVELY EMPTY. Fractions carry their
measurement basis, because one is measured on the BARRAGE rather than on a body — the same basis the
vehicle and machinery cases use.
THE BARRAGE — the pegged shutters on the sluice gates and the timber stoplog stack seated in the
outlet channel. About 0.15 of the BARRAGE's silhouette seen from the crest, and the single most
legible object on that structure because a timber stack against dressed stone is the only thing in
frame Angkor did not build. NO REDUNDANCY, which is what makes it machinery: draw the pegs at one
gate and that gate's head is gone, and no amount of effort by the crew puts it back while the player
holds the crest. BREAK THRESHOLD: the pegs drawn or the winding lever thrown. BREAK EVENT: the first
channel below the barrage runs and the SOUND changes across the whole arena. PERMANENT SUBTRACTION:
THE FULL RESERVOIR and THE MEN TO THE GATES both leave the live moveset — the water problem ends and
phase 2 opens [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § part economy]. LEGIBILITY GAIN: the fields below go visibly wet
from the barrage outward. MATERIAL THE ECONOMY WANTS: NOTHING HARVESTED — the works are the
community's and are repaired, not taken [same].
THE RESTORATIVE INVERSION, NAMED SO A LANE DOES NOT BUILD IT BACKWARDS: this part is OPENED rather
than smashed. The doctrine flags the restorative case as "the one most likely to be built backwards
by a lane that reads the column name literally", and this is that case wearing a machinery jacket.
The dike is never cut, the sluice is never breached, and EG_0030 binds — the worked water is the
encounter's SUBJECT and is never sabotaged or weaponised [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § the arena].
silhouette at combat distance — small, and readable at that size precisely because the produced-
document tell holds it OUT from the body at arm's length, so it breaks his outline rather than
sitting inside it. BREAK THRESHOLD: the sanctuary's own inscription read against it. BREAK EVENT:
the retainers stop taking his instructions mid-fight [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § part economy]. PERMANENT
SUBTRACTION: THE PRODUCED DOCUMENT and THE HELPER WHO STOPS both leave the moveset. LEGIBILITY GAIN:
once the sanction is stripped, every remaining tell in the encounter is a physical one. MATERIAL:
the stripped-cover evidence, a Thread-3 item [same].
balustrade and the yaksha have ZERO breakable parts and no part economy of any kind, BY DESIGN and
BY CARE LAW: nothing in this fight damages a temple, a balustrade, an inscription or the hydraulic
works [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § the care read], the four environment rows are CARE-BOUND and GEOMETRY ONLY
[EG_0030, EG_0035, EG_0036, EG_0037], and the row's ward objects are the temple's own
property rather than the antagonist's kit. THIS IS NOT A MISSING ECONOMY. It is a row with three
subjects the schema currently cannot say "no parts, correctly" about, which § 9 boards for the third
time in this chapter.
pip_count is EMPTY on this rowTwo, and both are physical. THE WET MARK ON THE BARRAGE FACE — a dark band of wetting-darkening above
the present water line, widening as the level drops, which is the doctrine's own machine-register
meter ("a gap of daylight under a stone that was not there an hour ago") transposed to water and read
from anywhere on the reservoir. THE COUNT OF RAISED NAGA HEADS ON THE NEAR FAN — read from zero to
seven, only ever rising, at seven by the phase change. One meter for the water and one for the
sanctuary, and neither needs an interface.
THE CHAIN-METER BODY STATE, AND WHY THIS ROW'S ANSWER IS ARENA RATHER THAN POSTURE-AND-BREATH.
Doctrine § 2.4 asks that where an encounter carries a non-kill path the CREATURE show chain progress
in posture and breath, so the player feels the chain building without looking away. has_nonkill_path
is TRUE on this row and pip_count and pip_reveal_threshold are BOTH EMPTY (§ 9 boards it), so
there is no authored pip chain for a body to mirror. THE SHEET ANSWERS THE DOCTRINE'S INTENT ON THE
ARENA INSTEAD, and says so rather than leaving the block thin: the two meters above are exactly the
"without looking away" property the clause is after, and they are BETTER placed here than on a body
because this encounter's four bodies are a man who is deliberately unreadable until his sentences
shorten and three stone objects with no breath at all. Where posture IS available it is used — the
wards' facing is the escalation channel and the official's shortening breath is the second — but the
chain itself is read off the water line and the head count. If the registry lane later authors pips
on this row, the body-state clause should be re-run against them; this sheet's answer is the honest
one for a row with none.
simultaneous rotation at every plinth course and every jamb socket on the approach, with the naga
count arriving at seven in the same beat [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § escalation].
man whose entire register up to that point has been the measured delivery of somebody who is used to
being listened to; the sentences shorten before the content changes, which is a thing a player hears
before she understands it.
supplies one — the same solution BE_0005_S3 used for a thing with no face, and the second instance
of the register's standing problem that the voice channel keeps belonging to something other than
the boss.
ROOT: THE ROUSED WARD — one dvarapala on the causeway shifts its weight and stops the player. NO
STRIKE, and it is the cheapest lesson in the encounter [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § identity]. Every dangerous
shape in phase 1 is that root with something added: THE SET FOOT is the root with the weight committed
to the centre line; THE UNWINDING RAIL is the root at the rail's whole length instead of one figure's;
THE STAIR HELD is the root performed by men instead of stone. In phase 2 the root becomes MORE WARDS —
the same shape, moved off-frame, so the read becomes a memory problem rather than a reaction problem.
Teaching order is designed rather than emergent: the player learns to look at a statue before she ever
needs to remember one.
HE ENTERS on the terrace with a sanction. HE RELOCATES UPWARD, toward the sanctuary, because that is
where his claim is strongest — and it is also where the record that refutes him is carved, which is
the encounter's best structural joke and belongs to the kit. HE LEAVES EXPOSED. WHAT HE DID TO THE
ARENA HE DID BEFORE THE PLAYER ARRIVED: the baray is held, the fields are dry, and the wards have been
roused by it since before the beat opened [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § turf and relocation].
THE WARDS DO NOT RELOCATE, AND THAT IS THE POINT. They occupy posts. The arena changes because MORE
POSTS BECOME OCCUPIED, never because a guardian walks — which keeps every ward inside its declared ROM
and keeps the approach's geometry, not the ward count, as the thing that gets worse.
WIN: the court network exposed, the hoarded water turned back to the fields, the sanctuaries reopened,
and the official unseated to answer — or struck down on the integrity-gated route, offered and never
required [BE_0005_S4 :: win_reward; CH_05.md §10b FORK_CH05_A :187-196; § Mechanical anchors
:276]. LOSS: the court-network map is logged and a temple-ledger fragment recovered; the water is
still returned and the excursion still doubles back — non-gating, no fail-wall
[BE_0005_S4 :: death_reward; angkor_khmer.md § Derived Indexes :96].
THE DISTANCE TEST, ANSWERED ON EACH BODY IN BLACK FILL. The official: idle is a clean vertical with
hands low; the wind-up is the trunk-turn with the document out at arm's length, which breaks his
outline sideways and is the only time his silhouette is not a line. The dvarapala: idle is a mass at a
threshold; the wind-up is the plinth rotation, which changes the figure from a frontal block to a
three-quarter one and is visible as an outline change of roughly a third of its width. The balustrade:
idle is the edge of a path; the wind-up is a raised head, which puts a hard black shape into the sky
where a rail used to end. THE YAKSHA, AND THIS IS THE BODY THE TEST ALMOST FAILED ON: a figure that
rotates in place and carries nothing off-centre gives the SAME BLACK FILL at both facings, and a
gaze-direction read is a near-read that does not survive a combat camera. § 2d's attribute is the fix
and it is a structural one — the carved shaft rides one side of the body, so at 180 degrees it crosses
to the other edge of the outline and the fill CHANGES: the delta is roughly a fifth of the figure's
width relocating from one margin to the other, plus the loss and gain of the shaft's break against the
door's dark interior. IDLE reads as a shaft on the OUTER edge of each jamb figure, matched left and
right; ROUSED reads as one shaft on the INNER edge, and the pair stops being symmetrical. Symmetry
breaking is the read, it is binary, and it works in pure fill. § 8's PLATE A and PLATE I dispatch both
states explicitly so the concept lane proves it before any asset is conditioned.
corrupted_authority: theantagonist is one official and the court apparatus behind him. §17.1 protection is COLLECTIVE — it
protects the Khmer and the Cham communities from being cast as villain, defamed or exterminated —
and the region page routes every strand of antagonism through the corrupt official, the
court-and-temple apparatus, the two-peer war's military, and the perverted ward-objects, NEVER
through either people [angkor_khmer.md header :31-34; § 4 :359-366; CH_05.md :246]. The temple
servants and dancers, the priesthood, the farmers, fisherfolk and market people, and the Khmer and
Cham civilians of both peoples are allies and protected non-targets [CH_05.md :246;
angkor_khmer.md § 4 :359-363]. It equally does not make him unkillable: HE IS FULLY KILLABLE
without qualification and without softening, on the integrity-gated route the fork names, which is
offered and never required and never the only path, and the blade falls on him alone
[CH_05.md §10b :189, :196; § Mechanical anchors :276].
administration, and the divine-kingship ideology are not the antagonist — a corrupt individual who
disgraces his office is [CH_05.md :246; angkor_khmer.md § 8 :622]. The kit rules the same thing
from the fight side: the temple is not the antagonist and neither is the devaraja institution as
such [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § the care read]. Nothing in § 4, § 6 or § 8 casts the court, the priesthood
or the cult as the enemy.
ontology_class cell is EMPTY (§ 9 boards it), so the routing isread from canon prose and it is unambiguous: the ward forms are OBJECTS, "never the deities and
never the faithful" [angkor_khmer.md :52, :96, :188-191; CH_05.md :246, :255]. Mahakala, the
Khmer naga, the neak ta and arak, and Po Nagar are revered or protective presences deliberately LEFT
and never villainized [CH_05.md § Decisions surfaced :330; angkor_khmer.md § 12 :729]. THE
DESIGN CONSEQUENCE, stated so no plate drifts: the dvarapala, the naga-balustrade and the yaksha are
the temple's WARDS, drawn in the Khmer tradition's own register and never as western horror
statuary, and the naga in particular is the protective, creative, dynastic pole — a water-lord and
rainbow-bridge, never a slain monster [CH_05.md § Anti-fringe flags :251; angkor_khmer.md
§ 5 :376-381].
guardian is faced at all it is faced as a guardian TEST rather than as prey, and warns in the same
breath that "a guardian test is not a passive encounter — it is a HARDER encounter." This sheet
builds the harder version and it can say exactly how: the wards cannot be damaged, cannot be
bypassed by force, cannot be turned by any player action, and do not stand down for anyone until the
sanctuary's condition is fixed. There is NO health to spend on them. A player who is good at combat
gets no discount at all on this ascent, and the only currency that works is reading — the facing,
the count, the record on the wall, the hydrology. Bold register with timid staging is the failure
the doctrine names; this staging removes the easy answer rather than adding one.
REFERENCE-BUILT, never raw-generated, and generation is sanctioned for fantastical and vril
structures only [angkor_khmer.md § 7 :575-576]. The protected sacred sites are "referenced
type-accurate set-dressing and compositions, never high-poly hero reproductions of the actual
temples, and never staged as loot-arenas" [§ 17 :1102-1105]. So: THE THREE WARD BODIES ROUTE
REFERENCE_BUILT, as type-accurate compositions of Khmer temple-guardian iconography and never as
reproductions of identified devotional sculpture at a named site — AND THEY RENDER IN THE
MYTHOLOGICALLY-STYLIZED REGISTER, WHICH IS A CANON RULING RATHER THAN A TASTE CALL. The spine's
style_register is explicit: "realistic-ethnographic for the Batak, Javanese, Sumatran, Khmer, and
Cham communities, monuments, and ports; MYTHOLOGICALLY-STYLIZED ONLY FOR the begu ganjang, Naga
Padoha, the krasue/ap, AND THE GUARDIAN CONSTRUCTS" [CH_05.md § Asset anchors :267], and the region
page's own set-dressing rule points the same way — the sacred sites are type-accurate compositions
rather than hero reproductions [angkor_khmer.md § 17 :1102-1105]. THE CONSEQUENCE FOR THE ART LANE,
because these two words are easy to collapse: the wards are NOT archaeological documentation of
identified Angkorian sculpture and must not be built as a scan or a study of one. They are the game's
own stylized realization of the guardian TYPE, in the Khmer tradition's own register and never a
western horror one. The monuments, the barrage, the causeway and every person in frame stay
realistic-ethnographic; only the three ward bodies cross into the stylized register, and § 8's route
note and PLATES A, D and E carry the split. THE OFFICIAL ROUTES
ATTENDED_DESIGN with a picked, judged concept plate as the conditioning input, per the concept-first
law — he is identity-bearing, and the row already carries mesh_pipeline_type = metahuman against a
page that authors NPCs MetaHuman-first [BE_0005_S4 :: mesh_pipeline_type; angkor_khmer.md
§ 12 :718]. No Khmer or Cham figure anywhere in this encounter's frames is a raw generation, and
none is a target, a hazard, or a hostage-object.
been a named Angkorian minister; canon ruled him FICTIONAL and UN-NAMED instead, with no deity-name
on a mortal NPC and no real minister cast as villain [BE_0005_S4 :: sources; angkor_khmer.md
:50, § 12 :724; CH_05.md :325]. Nothing was removed by that ruling — the aim moved, exactly as the
doctrine's Flores exemplar describes, and the encounter keeps every gram of its weight. This sheet
proposes no name for him and no name for any ward.
devil's-advocate pass calibrated against over-conservatism.
(1) THE UNBREAKABLE WARDS. Is a boss whose three most visible bodies cannot be damaged a defang? THE
DEVIL'S ADVOCATE HAS A REAL CASE: this is a rated-M action RPG, the player has spent four chapters
learning to hit things, and a lane that says "you may not touch the statues" is exactly the sound
timidity makes. THE PASS REFUSES THE BREAKABLE VERSION, and not on care grounds. Three reasons.
First, canon forecloses it and the foreclosure is structural rather than squeamish — the wards are
the temple's property, the environment rows are CARE-BOUND geometry-only, and the win REPAIRS
infrastructure rather than consuming it [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § the arena, § the care read]. Second,
breakable wards would hand the player the easy answer to a problem whose entire meaning is that the
temple is right and he is wrong; a dvarapala you can smash is a dvarapala whose opinion does not
matter, and the encounter's argument dies with it. Third, and decisively, the doctrine's own defang
test is about STAGING and this staging is harder rather than softer — no health economy, no combat
discount, a memory problem across a level, and a phase change that narrows a causeway to single file.
The bolder object here is the stone that cannot be spent.
(2) THE OFFICIAL'S FACE. Should he look corrupt? NO, and the refusal is the BOLDER option rather
than the safer one, on the pole's own design law: a man who looks corrupt has been let off, and the
harder read — a composed, courteous, entirely coherent administrator with a document that says he
may — is the one that makes a player understand how an empire gets sold. THE CROSS-SHEET RECORD,
RE-POINTED TO THE INSTANCES THAT ACTUALLY STATE IT: BE_0009_gabra_shuf.md :124 states the law
verbatim — "CORRUPTION MUST NOT BE VISIBLE ON HIS FACE. A man who looks corrupt has been let off" —
and BE_0012_S2_inacio_contas_ledger_man.md carries it three separate times (:33 the checkable
design law, :52 the pole's statement, :366 the player-facing consequence), with BE_0009_S1 and
BE_0012_S1 recording the adjacent banality finding on their own subjects. That is AT LEAST A SIXTH
instance of the same rule rather than a third, which makes it a settled register law and not a
preference this sheet is asserting. There is a second
and heavier reason on this subject specifically: a sinister physiognomy laid on a member of a living
people's community is the defamation §17.1 exists to prevent, which is exactly why the pole's law
puts the elevation on an ABSENCE.
(3) THE CHAM ARE NOT IN THE WARD TRIAL. The 1177 two-peer river-war is the beat's backdrop
[CH_05.md §10 :162], and this sheet does not stage Cham combatants inside the ward ascent or the
barrage confrontation. IS THAT SQUEAMISHNESS? No — it is ROUTING, and the two are distinguishable.
The war is a full-intensity set-piece and the region page rules its combat ceiling UNCHANGED twice
over, with its individual combatants explicitly killable enemy soldiers [angkor_khmer.md
header :25-34; § 4 :364-366; § 6 :551-566]. Nothing here reduces that by a single degree. What this
sheet refuses is FOLDING a protected peer people into the ward trial's target position, where the
encounter's own antagonist is a Khmer official and the wards bar everyone: a Cham soldier fought at
the barrage as part of THIS row would read as the Cham obstructing the water's return, which
reverses the two-peer dignity the ruling exists to protect. The war keeps its own staging at full
intensity; this row keeps its own target. DIRECTOR-RATIFIED as correct routing rather than timidity,
and boarded as a reusable rule for any encounter whose backdrop is a two-peer war between protected
peoples: the war's own staging keeps its full ceiling, and the sub-encounter keeps its own target.
(4) WHO ON THIS BARRAGE IS KILLABLE, AND WHO IS ROUTED AWAY — AND THE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME DECISION.
A sheet that leaves this implicit has made a silent reduction, so it is stated affirmatively in both
directions.
THE COURT ESCORT AND HIS ARMED RETAINERS ARE COMBATANTS OF THE CORRUPT APPARATUS AND ARE FULLY
KILLABLE, without qualification and without softening. HL_0123 rules the class directly: "Lethal
violence against human NPCs is core gameplay — thieves, bandits, hostile factions, war combatants,
gladiators, and contract/quest/integrity-gated targets … Maturity is delivered as WEIGHT and
CONSEQUENCE … never as a kill-ban" [T0_Hard_Lines @ HL_0123; bound onto this chapter at
CH_05.md :18 and :246]. THE STAIR HELD and COURT LEVERAGE are therefore shapes with men behind
them who can be fought and killed, the retainers have personas and the community remembers what was
done to them, and nothing in § 6 makes them invulnerable, non-combatant, or scenery. The official
himself is likewise fully killable on the integrity-gated route [CH_05.md §10b :196; :276].
THE SLUICE-MEN ARE ROUTED AWAY, AND THE REASON IS CANON RATHER THAN COMFORT. They are the
community's own working people, and the chapter rules "the farmers and market-people … are allies
and protected non-targets" [CH_05.md § Protected-chapter combat framing :246;
angkor_khmer.md § 4 :359-363]. THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE PRESSED IT: a rated-M sandbox permits emergent
violence against ordinary NPCs, and HL_0123 says so in the same breath as the rest — so is routing
the encounter's answer away from them a scrub? NO, and the distinction is precise and worth keeping:
HL_0123's sandbox permission is about what the WORLD allows a player to do; this sheet's routing is
about what the ENCOUNTER's designed answer is. THE MEN TO THE GATES is answered by reaching a gate
first because the gate is the objective, not because the men are protected from the player's hands
by some special rule. The softening is NOT generalized: it is one shape's answer, stated with its
reason, and it makes no claim about the sandbox at all.
(5) NO SHAPE IN THE TWELVE CARRIES A STRIKE-OR-PARRY ANSWER, ON A ROW WITH A 30-SHARE DIRECT AXIS.
RECORDED AS A REDUCTION rather than left as an accident, because it is the one a combat critic will
find. The axis is 30/40/30 and § 6's twelve shapes resolve to any, cover, dodge_only,
trigger_interrupt, neutralize and weak_point — no parry, no strike-answer. THE DEVIL'S
ADVOCATE: a third of this encounter is direct and none of the authored reads asks the player to meet
anything, which on its face is a puzzle lane crowding out a combat lane. THE CANON GROUND FOR
ACCEPTING IT: dominant_combat_mode is puzzle_routed for the whole chapter, and the spine names
this encounter as one of its four realizations — "realized in the ledger-decode, the mandala-ascent,
the baray flow-puzzle, and the endure-and-bind Naga Padoha trial, the main and excursion bosses'
expose routes riding the decoded evidence rather than a tier-gated read" [CH_05.md § Mechanical
anchors :275]. The row's verbs are expose and outmaneuver, not strike and parry. THE 30-SHARE IS NOT
UNSPENT, and the sheet says where it goes: the direct third is the ESCORT — killable men on a stair
and on a terrace, per pass (4) — plus the movement cost of a causeway that narrows one bay at a time.
What this sheet does NOT do is invent a parry window on a statue to make a number look balanced,
because a parryable dvarapala reopens exactly the breakable-ward question pass (1) refused. THE
HONEST STATEMENT: the direct share on this row lives in the escort and the traversal, and the twelve
authored shapes are the reads; if the combat lane wants a parry shape here it should come from the
escort's own weapons and be authored on the kit, not bolted onto the wards.
THE BOLDNESS CHECK IN THE OTHER DIRECTION, recorded
because the doctrine asks for both: nothing in this encounter is passive. He owns a barrage, a
terrace, a sanctuary and a retreat; the fields are already dry when the player arrives; the wards
were already roused before the beat opened; the escort is real and lethal; and the loss branch
returns a logged map and a still-dry argument rather than a reset. The defang tell is absent.
staging and carries a Cham-source grounding obligation that the page's one processed source does NOT
discharge — contract gap CG-29 remains OPEN [angkor_khmer.md § 16 :1054-1061; header :25-34]. This
sheet authors no Cham content, cites no Cham source, and therefore neither discharges nor advances
that obligation; it records it so a later lane does not read this sheet's silence as closure.
angkor_khmer shelf carries exactly ONE declared SRC_ id, SRC_00322 — Trankell's ethnography of the Jahed Cham of Kampong
Chhnang, fieldwork 1996-2002 — and the page rules its entire content MODERN-REGISTER and barred from
the ~1200 scene [angkor_khmer.md § 16 :1029-1033; § 5 :515-518]. THE CONTROL: a search of this
shelf's SRC-bearing spans matches (SRC_00322 resolves at dozens of anchors across §§ 4, 5, 12, 13,
14, 15, 16, 19 and 20), and this sheet cites NONE of them — correctly, because every one of them is
modern
and would be an anachronism import if used. The 1200-frame Khmer material this sheet does cite is
the page's own deep-research-grounded prose with named scholarly anchors (Higham, Coedes, Kulke,
Vickery, Groslier, the Greater Angkor Project, Ferrari et al., Po Dharma), which the page itself
states is its grounding condition and flags as still book-gated [§ 16 :1021-1027, :1035-1052]. So
the sheet's lore citations are file:line into canon rather than SRC_ ids, and that is the shelf's
real state rather than a citation failure — § 9 boards it.
must show Angkor and the baray as the dated, inscribed work of their own Khmer builders. No plate
composition may imply a lost race, an external teaching, a "too advanced for its builders" reading,
or a "vanished civilization" [angkor_khmer.md header :19-22; CH_05.md § Anti-fringe flags
:253-254]. The corrective is authorial only and never a player-facing debunk. The present frame is a
LIVING IMPERIAL CAPITAL at its zenith, not ruins [angkor_khmer.md § 1 :137-143], so no plate here
carries the modern conserved-ruin register.
ward skeletons and every ROM number in § 2b-2d; the plinth-rotation, coping-block and jamb-socket
freedoms; the six / chain-plus-seven / one degree-of-freedom counts; the rail's travelling-wave
amplitude figure; THE TWO SCALE FIGURES, WHICH CARRY NO CITATION AND ARE DECLARED RATHER THAN
IMPLIED — the dvarapala at "roughly two to two and a half metres, which is the size the iconography
is carved at" (§ 2b) and the "hundred-metre" order of the causeway rail (§ 2c) are this sheet's
authored sizings, plausible for the type and NOT taken from any measured Angkorian source on this
shelf, and a later pass that needs real numbers must take them from a cited authority rather than
from here; the YAKSHA ATTRIBUTE'S OFF-AXIS PLACEMENT and the symmetry-breaking outline delta it buys
(the attribute CLASS is attested-class iconography per CH_05.md :82 — its specific use as this
encounter's silhouette carrier is this sheet's); the near-fan-only reading of the raised-head meter
and the far fan's one-beat lag; the wet mark on the barrage face as the second meter; the dry-hem
occupational-absence read; the trunk-turn carriage note; his added pegged shutters and timber stoplog
stack; the grit-from-the-course-lines material read; the sandstone-skin-over-laterite-core legibility
read; and the TWELVE tell shapes of § 6 — WHICH CARRY NO SILHOUETTE FRACTIONS, correctly: fractions
belong to the part economy and this row has exactly two parts that carry one (the added barrage works
at ~0.15 of the BARRAGE, the sealed edict at ~0.04 of HIM), plus the distance-test deltas quoted in
§ 6 for each body. CITED: the row's id, name, display name, verbs, axis,
phases, counters, win and death rewards, composure and character-engagement nodes; the three ward
forms and their ward-OBJECT ontology; the rousing and its cause; the official's fictionality,
un-namedness, un-briefedness and method; the devaraja contest; the sandstone, laterite and
iron-cramp materials; the West Baray's dimensions, inlets and outlets; the naga's protective pole
and the seven-headed balustrade; the 1177/1181 war and its ceiling; the routing, the care tiers, the
Neophyte perception ceiling and the generation routes.
proposes are the row's own display name — "the one who keeps the water back" — and the tell language
in § 6. None carries a House-of-Velheim name, family, pattern, who-frame agent-noun, Cassius, thesis
or Grand Sage reference; CH_05 sits roughly 33 chapters before the ~Ch-38 pattern bar and the family
first appears at Ch 8 [angkor_khmer.md header :13-18; § 11 :693-706]. THE TRAP, NAMED: BE_0005's
own sheet carries the strictest reveal read in the slice because the datu is the arc's first
FAMILY_BRIEFED operative — and THIS official is the mirror case. He is NOT briefed and does not read
the protagonist back [angkor_khmer.md :50, :702-703]. A lane that inherits the datu's
recognition beat onto this row would invent an awareness canon explicitly denies, on the same
Tier-3 rung, in the same chapter. So: no recognition, no unease, no reading-back, no "someone told
me to watch for you" in any bark, any barked line, or any inscription this encounter surfaces. His
motive is local and opportunistic on every surface. The row's awareness_category cell is EMPTY and
that emptiness is CORRECT.
arogyasala and dharmasala land in string tables with glossary entries so the ship-everywhere
localization does not flatten the traditions' own terms [angkor_khmer.md § 17 :1096-1099]. Any
player-facing string this sheet's tells produce inherits that rule.
Written affirmatively. Every PLATE SUBJECT LINE names what IS in frame, because the art graph zeroes
its negative conditioning and a prompt that names what to leave out feeds the model the nouns it meant
to exclude. THE CLASS RULING THAT SEPARATES THE TWO KINDS OF SENTENCE HERE, recorded because this
block mixes them: a ROUTE NOTE constrains the LANE (which route, which register, which reference
posture) and may lawfully carry a negation, because no part of it is ever conditioning text; a PLATE
SUBJECT LINE becomes conditioning and must stay affirmative. PLATES A through I below are subject
lines and carry no negation; the route note above them is a lane constraint.
ROUTE NOTE, binding on the whole set (a lane constraint, not a plate subject line): the three ward
plates — A, D and E — are REFERENCE_BUILT type-accurate compositions of Khmer temple-guardian
iconography rendered in the MYTHOLOGICALLY-STYLIZED register that CH_05.md § Asset anchors :267
rules for the guardian constructs, which means the game's own stylized realization of the guardian
TYPE rather than archaeological documentation of an identified sculpture
[angkor_khmer.md § 17 :1102-1105]. Every other plate — B, C, F, G, H — stays REALISTIC-ETHNOGRAPHIC
for the monuments, the works, the water and every person in frame, per the same ruling. The official's
plates are ATTENDED_DESIGN and are the conditioning input for his MetaHuman build. Every plate shows
Angkor at its living ~1200 zenith, built by its own builders, in equatorial daylight.
dressed Angkor sandstone at midday, a carved yaksha guardian standing in each jamb, each holding a
long carved club to one side with its butt on the plinth and its shaft rising past the shoulder. The
right-hand figure faces out with its shaft on the doorway's outer edge; the left-hand figure is
turned in its socket to face into the doorway, its shaft now on the inner edge — the pair no longer
a mirror of each other. Flat overhead daylight, the doorway's own interior shadow behind them, the
stone pale and warm.
court dress standing on the crest of an earthen-and-stone barrage, a sealed palm-leaf document held
out at arm's length in both hands, his hem clean and his feet dry, three sluice-men working the
gates behind him wet to the thigh in ochre reservoir water. His expression composed and courteous,
mid-sentence.

cracked channels running away to the horizon. Monsoon light, high haze.

in one open bed-joint, fine grit falling from the course-lines as the figure stands turned
three-quarters on its plinth.

high against an open sky, the rail's coping blocks reading as a segmented chain running away toward
water and toward the far fan in the distance.

standing and the official presenting the document; the dvarapala frontal and the dvarapala rotated;
the balustrade with heads down and with seven heads raised; and the yaksha PAIR at both states, the
matched-outer-shafts idle beside the broken-symmetry roused, which is the plate that proves the mark
survives a fill.
Registry implications this sheet found and did not write. Each carries its target row and column.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: hitzone_parts EMPTY. This row's economy lives in TWO homes the column cannot name— MACHINERY (his added barrage works, measured on the BARRAGE) and EQUIPMENT (the sealed edict) —
and its three ward bodies are affirmatively NONE by care law. That is three different realities
under one blank cell, on the fourth BE_0005 row to raise the same gap
[BE_0005, BE_0005_S1, BE_0005_S2, BE_0005_S3 all board it]. A schema that cannot distinguish
"no parts by design" from "no parts yet" will keep reporting a correct row as a hole.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: ontology_class EMPTY on a row whose subjects include three animated temple wardsof a living tradition. The care register and the ward-OBJECT ruling currently live in region-page and
spine prose only. BE_0005 boarded the identical gap on the Batak side for the begu ganjang, the
pangulubalang and the singa facade; this is the same gap on the Khmer side. VERIFIED AT THE ROW: all
FIVE BE_0005 rows carry an empty ontology_class, so every non-human subject in this chapter — a
killing-spirit, a war-construct, a roused facade, a dharmapala, a bound world-serpent and three
temple wards — has its ontology in prose and nowhere a gate can read it.
each a designed subject with a declared material, a joint system, a facing state and a role, and
none has a CR_ row. The region page routes folkloric beings to
Creature_Roster.folklore_attribution and names all three by name [angkor_khmer.md § 3 :188-191],
so the routing is DECLARED and the rows are ABSENT.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: mesh_pipeline_type = metahuman AND mesh_tags.morphology = bipedal DESCRIBE THEOFFICIAL ONLY. This row implies FOUR bodies in TWO pipelines: one MetaHuman biped and three carved
stone constructs, of which the balustrade is not bipedal and is not a figure at all — it is a rail
at arena proportion. The filled cells are correct about the man and silent about three quarters of
the row. This is the same "one boss row implies N bodies" gap BE_0012_S1 boarded for its crew, now
with a second axis: the N bodies are not all in the same pipeline.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: mesh_tags.style = "realistic-ethnographic" CONTRADICTS CANON FOR THREE OF THISROW'S FOUR BODIES. The spine's style_register rules "mythologically-stylized ONLY for the begu
ganjang, Naga Padoha, the krasue/ap, and THE GUARDIAN CONSTRUCTS" [CH_05.md § Asset anchors :267].
The cell is correct for the official and wrong for the dvarapala, the balustrade and the yaksha, and
an asset lane reading it will build stylized ward-objects as archaeological documentation. THE
SCHEMA CAN ALREADY EXPRESS THE RIGHT VALUE — verified at the sibling row, BE_0005_S3 carries
mesh_tags.style = "mythologically-stylized" — so this is a wrong value rather than a missing
vocabulary, and it is the same one-row-many-bodies problem as the pipeline cell above: the row has
one style slot and needs two. § 7 and § 8 carry the correct split in prose; the cell does not.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: height_m and :: length_axis EMPTY on a row carrying an adult human, twoover-life-size carved figures and a causeway-length rail. Three scale classes, no scale data.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: pip_count and :: pip_reveal_threshold EMPTY on a puzzle-forward row, while BE_0005, BE_0005_S2 and BE_0005_S3 all carry 7 pips with a reveal threshold. BE_0005_S1
boarded this silence first; this is the second puzzle-lane row in the same chapter with the same
blanks, which makes it a pattern rather than an omission. Whether puzzle-forward rows are meant to
be pip-less is still a registry-lane decision that has not been taken.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: escalation_vector EMPTY while :: phase_trigger is POPULATED (composure_break), and — verified at the rows — while BE_0005, BE_0005_S1 and BE_0005_S2 all carry a value
(add_layer, multiply_telegraph, tighten_telegraph). The column is in live use in this chapter
and is simply unfilled on the two rows that most need it, this one and BE_0005_S3. The kit authors
four escalation channels and this sheet gives each an anatomical home; the cell has a value waiting
for it. :: signature_counters is likewise EMPTY while :: counters carries two.
:: phase_voice_array is EMPTY on all five BE_0005 rows, and on this one the phase voice is the
temple's own bells rung by nobody — one more register in which the voice channel belongs to
something other than the boss, which BE_0012_S1 already recorded as a pattern rather than an
omission.
@ BE_0005_S4 :: character_id EMPTY, and CORRECTLY — the official is fictional, un-named and un-rowed by ruling [angkor_khmer.md :50, § 12 :724]. The debt is downstream rather than on the
cell: the page rules his persona authored at the QUEST layer, so a T0_Character_Index persona row
is owed by that lane and by no other, and a routing pass that reads an empty character_id as a
hole will fill it in the wrong place.
angkor_khmer ZONE CATALOG CARRIES NO environment_grammar_refs ON ANY OF ITS FIVE ZONES [angkor_khmer.md Zone Catalog :72-76], while the sumatra_java catalog populates the column on
all four of its own [sumatra_java.md Zone Catalog :63-66]. The consequence is live and visible in
the kit: KIT_BE_0005_S4 reaches for EG_0035 (Terraced Mandala Monument Ascent), EG_0036
(Narrative Relief Gallery Wall) and EG_0037 (Terrace-Transition Gate Threshold) — BOROBUDUR's
environment-grammar rows — to describe an ANGKOR ascent, because Angkor has none of its own. The
grammar generalizes honestly (a terraced ascent is a terraced ascent) and the row ids do not: a
causeway-and-moat crossing, a baray barrage crest and a Khmer gallery are not Borobudur's terraces,
and a later lane reading EG_0035 on this row will source Javanese andesite for a Khmer sandstone
encounter. The angkor zones need their own rows.
AND THE FOURTH BORROWED ROW IS THE WORST OF THEM, because it crosses a region rather than a zone.
EG_0030 is "Subak Weir, Proportional Divider and Tunnel Works (protected)"
[T0_Environment_Grammar_Registry :31] — THE BALI SUBAK ROW, whose subject is the Balinese
irrigation society's stone proportional dividers at canal branch points, cut so a farmer can verify
the agreed allocation by eye [bali.md § the proportional dividers :1301-1309]. The kit binds it as
the West Baray's hydraulic-works row [KIT_BE_0005_S4 § the arena]. The CARE INTENT transfers
perfectly — worked community water, hard-blocked, never sabotaged, never weaponised — and the
PHYSICS does not: a Balinese branch-point divider and tunnel is a small-bore distribution device on
a volcanic-terrace system, and a West Baray barrage is a 12-metre earthen dike holding some 53
million cubic metres [angkor_khmer.md § 7 :593-601]. Same care class, two different machines, two
different material and failure profiles, and this row's entire MACHINERY part economy hangs off the
one it does not have. A Khmer baray-and-sluice environment-grammar row is owed, and until it exists
the honest reading of EG_0030 on this encounter is "the care law, borrowed" rather than "the
works, described".
BE_0005_S4 :: composure_nodes carries environmental=ward_construct_ascent, and the roused wards
are canon ambient threat on angkor_wat and bayon_taprohm [CH_05.md § Key sites :99, :101] —
but those two zones' functions columns are [discovery, learning, traversal] and [character,
discovery] respectively [:98, :100], with no combat and no puzzle between them. Only west_baray
carries [puzzle, combat] [:102]. § 1 resolves this in the design's favour (the ward presence on the
two sacred zones is ambient and read-only; the encounter stages at the barrage), and the resolution
is a READING rather than a row: the schema cannot distinguish "an ascent that resolves elsewhere"
from "two zones whose functions are under-declared", and a later lane could legitimately reach the
opposite conclusion and stage combat on two protected sacred sites. Either the functions columns
want a traversal-gate or trial token, or the composure node wants a zone scope. This is a
care-adjacent gap and not only a schema one, because the wrong reading puts a fight inside Angkor
Wat and the Bayon.
BE_0004_S1 needs it, BE_0005_S2 needs it and boarded it as a two-row debt, and this row needs it for three
separate bodies. If it is not placed in the environment-grammar registry, one of them will ship with
an aura — which is BE_0005_S2's own prediction, now one row closer.
T0_Boss_Attack_Rail carries 0 rows. The twelve shapes in § 6 are this encounter's first, and theyare already authored against the kit's twelve abilities, so the rail's population for this row is a
transcription rather than a design task.
The angkor_khmer shelf carries one processed source and it is modern-register and barred from the
1200 scene; the RCM still carries no Khmer/Cham per-culture block; and HIGHAM, MASPERO, GOLZIO AND
PO DHARMA remain MUST-ACQUIRE before any canon flip [angkor_khmer.md § 16 :1021-1027, :1035-1052,
§ 20 :1358-1365]. COEDES IS NOT ON THAT LIST AND THIS SHEET CORRECTS ITS OWN EARLIER GROUPING: the
page carries him as "already an owned RCM Tier-1 source for Ch 5 (recommend cross-listing to this
page)" [angkor_khmer.md § 16 :1038] and the spine names him among the excursion substrate anchors
as already RCM Tier-1 [CH_05.md § Mechanical anchors, substrate_sources :290]. He is available
now, not gated. Every lore claim in § 3 therefore cites canon prose rather than a
SRC_ anchor. That is honest and it is also a ceiling: the ward iconography, the barrage
engineering and the court apparatus would all deepen against a processed Angkor authority, and none
exists on this shelf yet.
within-authority as a Component-11 catalog addition to T0_Vril_Site_Registry and are NOT enacted
[CH_05.md § Mechanical anchors :279; angkor_khmer.md § 1 :145-150]. This encounter is the one
place in the chapter where a ward-construct trial runs on a LOW-vril surface, and the deferred rows
are the only place that tension could ever be recorded. Noted, not enacted, and not this lane's to
enact — it needs a fidelity-baseline refresh in the same commit.
