CH_05 Quest Set — Sumatra and Java (Quest-Writing Spike)

This is a schema-conformance validation draft for the Ch 2-5 quest-writing spike. It joins the CH_05 v3.1 spine's typed layer (beats, forks, boss rows, scene rows, side-questline advances, worldstate writes) and the sumatra_java region page onto the ratified quest and scene contracts, to prove whether those contracts hold real authored content before production quest writing begins. Nothing here is canon. Every value is derived from the spine, the region page, or the registries the spine cites; where the schema demands a value no source provides, the place is recorded in the Contract Gaps section rather than invented. Reveal discipline binds on every player-facing string: no House-of-Velheim name, family, pattern, who-frame agent-noun, Cassius, thesis, or Grand Sage appears; the first briefed enemy reads only as an unexplained, unnamed unease. The living Batak, Javanese, Sumatran, Malay, Khmer, and Cham traditions are rendered with weight and as they understand themselves; communities are never quest targets; the antagonist routes through the collapse-monetizing individual and his instruments.

Main-story quest chain

The chapter's twelve typed beats group into nine main-story quests. The grouping is author discretion — the contract pins no beat-to-quest decomposition rule (see Contract Gaps). Each quest carries its quest_id, the spine beats it realizes, its zone anchor(s), its objective sequence, completion conditions, the worldstate writes carried verbatim from the spine (never minted), rewards drawn from the spine's own reward lines, and no-dead-end fail/branch handling. Every quest is quest_type main_story_per_chapter, path_bucket UNLOCKED, questline_id NULL for the main chain unless an SQ interleaves (the SQ tracking lives in the Side quests section).

QS_CH_05_01 — The Monument That Makes You Small

QS_CH_05_03 — The Killing-Spirit and the Healer

All are path_bucket UNLOCKED; integrity implications use the ratified fork direction vocabulary (generative / neutral / corrosive), never the retired truly_good/good_enough/neutral/evil labels.

At the schema grain this single scene composes from multiple per-character dialogue_dataset files — DD_CHAR_0038_QS_CH_05_03 (the healer), DD_CHAR_0032_QS_CH_05_03 (the apprentice), and a protagonist file whose DD_<character_id> naming has no character_id target (the protagonist is player-selected, not a T0_Character_Index row — see Contract Gaps). The unified table below is the authoring view. Node SC05_HW_N03 is a six_option_voice_response node per CVD §13 (the six options Truly Good / Truly Bad / Sympathetic / Detached / Curious / Defiant); its selection is exactly the dialogue_six_option enum record that writes WS_018 six_option_cumulative_record (the write the FORK_CH05_B combat forks deliberately do NOT make). All player-facing text holds the reveal ceiling (the trouble is the corrupt datu and the killing-spirit he keeps, both strictly local; no family, name, pattern, or who-frame) and the care rules (the begu ganjang the tradition's own condemned being, held distinct from the revered sombaon and sumangot; the datu-office honored, the corrupt individual routed). Contract gaps

Each entry is a place where the §5 or §6 schema demanded something the spine, region page, and registries do not provide. A gap surfaced is the spike succeeding at its job; none was filled by invention.

No quest_anchor_id vocabulary for standard per-chapter quests. §6.5's quest_id and quest_anchor_id format examples are all canonical-hard-line or convergence anchors (CH76/CH77/CH13_CONVERGENCE_NODE). The spine mints beat ids (CH05_BNN) and scene anchor ids (SC_CH05_*) but no quest_anchor_id for standard main_story_per_chapter quests. Every QS_CH_05_NN quest_id and every CH05_* quest_anchor_id in this draft is a spike-invented label with no corpus source. The contract needs a per-chapter quest-anchor minting rule (or an explicit statement that standard quests take quest_anchor_id NULL).
No beat-to-quest decomposition rule. The spine is authored at beat grain (12 beats); the quest schema at quest grain (quest_beat_structure is free text). Nothing pins how beats group into quests (one quest per beat, per fork, per mode-run, per giver?). This draft chose nine quests by narrative arc; a different author would group differently, threatening cross-cascade consistency. The contract needs a canonical decomposition convention.
No typed completion-conditions or objectives field. §6.5 carries quest_beat_structure (free text) and branching_logic (free text) but no structured field for objective steps or completion conditions. This draft expressed objectives and completion as prose bullets. A machine consumer (UE5 Quest System §1.2) cannot read objective/completion state from the schema as specified.
Beat-scoped local flags have no home in the quest schema. The spine's beat out-states are overwhelmingly local.* flags (local.summit_reached, local.ledger_decoded, local.begu_ganjang_warded, local.serpent_settled, and so on); ws.* worldstate writes are rare (four across the chapter). §6.5 references only ws worldstate downstream and has no field for the local.* flag layer, so most of the chapter's completion state is unrepresentable in the quest row. The local-vs-worldstate distinction, and where local flags persist, is unspecified.
The ws.* write value vocabulary is not enumerated. The spine writes tokens like ws.antagonist_operational_state_per_region: +datu_brokerage_exposed_strait_reopened, ws.community_state_per_region: +strait_reopened_begu_ganjang_hold_broken, and ws.identity_hiding_status: +active_concealment_briefed_recognition_carried. These "+token" values are free-form strings, not an enum; T0_Worldstate_Variables is referenced but the allowed value set per key is undefined. This draft carried every token verbatim; a validator cannot check them.
condition_expression grammar is unpinned. §6.5's line_variant_array condition_expression lists fields (integrity_score range, path_bucket, biography_state, age_stage, appearance_score, relationship_history, default_variant) but specifies no expression grammar — no operators, no range syntax, no AND/OR combinator. branching_logic is likewise free text. The contract says runtime "evaluates condition expressions against worldstate," but the expression language does not exist yet, so no evaluable variant condition can be authored.
SQ state-condition gates have no typed home. §6.5's only gate field is twelve_tier_gate (mastery vocabulary). The spine gates SQs by state-conditions — at(palembang_port), has(local.serpent_settled), has(local.begu_ganjang_warded) — a predicate grammar (at()/has()) that lives spine-side and has no field or grammar in the quest schema. The contract needs a typed state-condition gate field and its predicate grammar.
questline_id FK is unresolvable. §6.5's questline_id foreign-keys T0_Questline_Index, but the spine records that registry as a stub ([POPULATE→T0_Questline_Index]) and assigns SQ4/SQ11/SQ1 from CVD §17.6 in-spine. No questline row exists for these ids, so the FK cannot resolve.
encounter_mode_tag enum does not cover the spine's beat modes. The spatial_requirements_array encounter_mode_tag enum (§6.5) is the five-value Pillar 1.12 set {combat, puzzle, learning, character, transformation}. The spine's §10 beat modes include investigation (CH05_B04), discovery (CH05_B07), and traversal (kra_traverse, merapi_slopes). The spine's own mode_variety_check folds investigation into puzzle and discovery into learning, which resolves those two — but traversal has no target in the five-value enum, so a traversal beat or agility-course zone cannot carry a valid encounter_mode_tag. The enum and the beat-mode vocabulary are not reconciled.
No typed reward field. §6.5's quest_substrate has no reward, loot, or drop field; the spine's rewards are prose and defer to T0_RNG_Drop_Table and T0_Quest_Seed_Registry (both POPULATE-flagged, unpopulated), and the boss win/death rewards live only in the BE_0005 row prose. Quest rewards therefore have no schema home; this draft carried them as prose from the spine's own reward lines.
No typed quest_giver or quest_start_trigger field. The task asks for giver/trigger per quest; §6.5 offers only dialogue_trigger_anchors (dialogue placement, anchor_type scene_entry/beat_transition/dialogue_initiation/branch_decision_point), which trigger dialogue, not quest activation. The quest hook is expressible only in free-text quest_beat_structure.
No repo-native landing surface for quest rows or dialogue datasets. §6.5 stores dialogue datasets at the Drive path /04-Quest Writing/Dialogue Datasets/DD_<character_id>_<quest_id>.<file_extension> and quest rows in T0_Quest_Definition_Registry (the "15th New T0 Registry," created at contract lock). This repo migrated out of Drive, the Drive path is dead, and no T0_Quest_Definition_Registry exists under registries/. The file_extension is also unspecified. Quest and dialogue content authored at spike or production tier has no canonical home surface here.
Protagonist has no character_id for the per-character DD file naming. dialogue_dataset files key on DD_<character_id>_<quest_id>, but the protagonist is player-selected (gender carried from Ch 1) and is not a T0_Character_Index row. The protagonist's dialogue file — and the six_option_voice_response player node, which is the protagonist's — has no character_id to fill the FK.
Excursion host participants have no character_id targets. participant_entity_refs is an FK array into T0_Character_Index / T0_Antagonist_Network_Registry. The excursion Khmer temple-servant host (QS_CH_05_05), the Cham pilot host (QS_CH_05_07), and the highland forager (SS_CH_05_ORANGPENDEK) are authored un-named at spine scope (ruling 6) with their personas explicitly deferred to the quest layer — but no character_id row exists to reference. The quest layer is instructed to author the persona and simultaneously required to FK a row that does not exist.
Un-rowed antagonist analog has no operative id.
