Region Page — Flores Island

Canonical region page (T1_Region_Page_Template [ACTIVE v2.0]). This is the PILOT page — the

first instantiation of the v2.0 consumption contract. It consumes the v3.1 spine's typed layer

for CH_02 and CH_03 (the join root) and authors only the region-scope substrate the spine leaves

downstream. The region's identity resolves in T0_Region_Index; the page passes harness/check_region_page.py.

Reveal discipline binds at page grain exactly as at spine grain: no House-of-Velheim name, family,

or pattern anywhere (the Ch-2/Ch-3 corruption predates the family, which first appears at Ch 8),

and the Grand Sage is dark. The living Flores peoples (Manggarai, Ngada, Nage, Lio, Keo) are

rendered with weight and as they understand themselves; the benevolent dukun/healer is never the

antagonist, and malevolence is grounded in the traditions' own named agents (the polo, the roused

darat and naga tana). Substrate citations are region-filtered (see Section 16). page_status:

Zone Catalog

One row per zone. Rows sourced from spine §3b site_ids copy terrain / functions / ambient_threat /

vril_density / climactic_affordance / protected VERBATIM from the CH_02 and CH_03 site rows; the

page-authored columns are the page-side geometry (area_bounds, zone_bounds_wgs84) and

build_priority plus the T0.2 extension-column pack (the seven per-zone build columns the extension

manifest attributes to this page). area_bounds are first-pass design sizings (meters, local ENU

origin at the region center), refined at the Section 1 terrain-build pass; they are page

authority, not spine canon. [Preamble aligned to the live column set 2026-07-27 — the "only two

page columns" wording predated the T0.2 pack.]

Zone-bounds derivation note — the compang split (RULED, Josh 2026-07-27): compang_lingko_fields carries its own envelope, w=120.36445;s=-8.61321;e=120.38445;n=-8.59321, and no longer shares manggarai_village_edge's box. The two zones are one institution seen from two places, and the real ground separates them. The village edge is the settlement threshold with its spider-web fields, anchored at the Cancar and Meler lingko centroid 8.58321°S 120.37445°E; the compang zone is the lodok fan the community works in the valley below that edge — the arrangement Section 7 states for this region, where settlement radiates from the compang stone-center and the lingko fields fan out from it onto the lower ground, and which Wae Rebo shows plainly, its fans lying in the valley under the house cluster rather than at the doorstep. The box therefore takes the column pack's one padding convention, the anchor centroid plus and minus 0.010°, one box-step south, so its north parallel is the village edge's south parallel — the same edge-adjacency lingko_forest_edge already carries on the north side, which leaves the three Manggarai zones reading as one column down the slope: forest margin above, settled edge in the middle, worked fan below. The placement is measured rather than assumed. Across the 500×500 m fan footprint the region's COP30 tile reads mean elevation 941.2 m, five metres below the village-edge footprint and on the valley floor, with slope mean 3.3° and max 9.6° and every post at or under 10°, and ESA WorldCover reads 84% cropland and grass there; across the full 0.02° envelope the readings are 43% cropland at 4.9° mean slope. Intersection with every other zone box on this page is zero by area, so the Ch-3 sub-boss encounter BE_0003_S3 and the gather node GN_0011 resolve inside the compang box instead of on the shared valley post, and the game-side stand-ins for the collision — the 40 m marker nudge and the later 500 m eastward move — now have a canon home and retire at the next stage pass. [SRC: the manggarai_village_edge anchor recorded at canon commit 22f81f7; terrain and landcover sampled read-only from Saved/Terrain/flores_island_heightmap_5611x1531.r16 and flores_island_wc_crop.png; the collision recorded at Humanity/TODO_CANON.md lines 855-858 and 952-958]

Zone-grain node-class note (the standing mechanism, RULED — Josh 2026-07-20): the region row's node_class is now protected (the region DEFAULT — the living Manggarai/Lio communities and the sacred zones are the dominant register), superseding the earlier region-level transferable seed. The old illustrative archetype chain (thieves_guild>bandit_crew>player_dark_faction) is RETIRED — it was a doc example, not derived from this region's content. Whether any flores zone genuinely carries a transferable sublane (a persisting apparatus a successor could fill, the palembang_port test) is assessed at this page's next pass; none is asserted now.

into the typed layer.

The Twenty Numbered Sections

Section 1 — Geography and Topography

Flores is a tropical volcanic island on the Sunda Arc, its spine a chain of stratovolcanoes and

crater lakes running east–west, its flanks monsoon forest cut by karst limestone in the west. The

two chapter sites sit in that western-to-central highland: Liang Bua, a limestone cave near Ruteng

in Manggarai, and the Kelimutu three-crater-lake complex in the central highlands, with Mount

Inerie's cone between. Terrain data plus the build chain (researched terrain pipeline): DEM source

Copernicus GLO-30 via the OpenTopography API over the two chapter bounding boxes; meters-per-vertex

a per-region compression decision (first-pass 2.0 m/vertex for the highland corridors, tighter at

the cave and caldera hero-sites); the GDAL/rasterio recipe carves the Liang Bua cave mouth and the

Kelimutu craters as scripted composites; a Gaea erosion pass adds monsoon-gully and scree detail;

UE Landscape import tiles under World Partition at the 8,129-vertex actor cap; ESA WorldCover maps

monsoon-forest / cropland / bare-volcanic landcover to material-layer weightmaps.

Recorded build output (terrain smoke, 2026-07-20): a first smoke run of the Liang Bua bounding box

through the game repo's Tools/terrain_fetch_preprocess.py produced these real meta values — a

pipeline smoke, not a ruled build (the meters-per-vertex here is the tool's native-COP30 SMOKE

value, and the ruled per-region mpv remains a Josh number):

Time-period modifications from modern: the composite era reaches the Homo floresiensis stratum

(~60,000+ BP) at Liang Bua as deep-time geology (referenced, the type-site never reproduced as a

dig), and the pre-colonial through Dutch-colonial surface in the highlands via time-fluctuation

windows — sea level and coastline shift with the deep-time windows; deforestation is reversed to

the pre-colonial forest cover at the lingko-edge; volcanic and geothermal activity is live (the

Kelimutu lakes' mineral-driven colour shifts, the geothermal vents used as a torch source in the

Ch-2 stalk). Climate and atmosphere: equatorial-monsoon, wet-and-dry, cool in the highland,

seismic and geothermal.

Vril sites (from T0_Vril_Site_Registry + the spine §3b rows, never re-authored): VS_CH02_001, the

Liang Bua waterfall vicinity — the arc's first waterfall recharge, passive; VS_CH03_001, Mama

Klara's waterfall — a recharge_ritual that permanently raises the vril-capacity floor on full

success, distinct from the passive Ch-2 recharge. Both anchor to real falling-water sites; the

recharge mechanic is the only surface through which the vril substrate is shown, never declared.

Both vril sites are waterfalls, which AssetGen §2 excludes from the Vril-Sites generative mesh

backend and routes to terrain (the Zone Catalog terrain=water_body already disambiguates), so the

Vril-Sites generative asset category is empty for this region.

Section 2 — Flora and Botany

Native flora baseline pre-contact: monsoon forest and cloud-forest — figs, bamboo, rattan, wild

tuber and taro, and the volcanic-highland botanicals the healer traditions use. The region's

own ethnobotanical record is the substrate anchor: the Lio people's traditional healing draws on a

documented pharmacopoeia of forest plants, and the herbalism Book-of-Trades entries for Flores seed

from it — medicinal (fever, wound, childbirth), toxic (the hunting and fishing poisons), ritual

(the offering and purification plants), and food (tuber, banana, areca) [SRC: SRC_00483 —

Traditional Healing of the Lio People of Flores]. This is the Trade-4 Herbalism substrate for the

region, gathered at the recharge-waterfall botanical node (the reward of the Ch-3 naga-tana

restoration) and the highland forage.

Build notes: foliage source-assets favour monsoon-forest and bamboo/rattan matches (Fab/Megascans

where the species read is close; custom models for the areca and the ritual plants that carry

gameplay weight); density high in the cloud-forest bowl at Wae Rebo, thinning on the volcanic cone;

palette wet-green shifting to ash-grey on the Inerie slopes; wind moderate, gusting at the caldera

rim.

Section 3 — Fauna and Animal Life

The region's fauna is dominated by the Serpent Thread's dual anchor and the endemic reptile fauna.

The page CONSUMES the T0_Creature_Roster rows the spine already staged (CR_0001 Komodo dragon,

CR_0002 reticulated python, CR_0003 crab-eating macaque, CR_0004 wild boar, CR_0005 Flores monitor,

CR_0006 Timor deer at Ch 2; CR_0012 water buffalo, CR_0013 Java sparrow, CR_0014 Flores pig,

CR_0015 sacred waterfall fauna, CR_0016 Flores orb-weaver at Ch 3) and FEEDS region-ambient detail.

The deep-read pass ENRICHES those existing rows rather than minting new ones, with two

region-ambient adds — the yellow-crested cockatoo and the eel-form place-spirit — whose CR_ ids are

assigned at the registry-append pass.

The Komodo dragon is the region's science-and-ecology anchor, and the substrate is unusually strong

here: the demographic status of the Komodo population, the effects of human activity on it, and the

mechanisms of its reduced dispersal are all region-scoped primary sources [SRC: SRC_00169 — Demographic

Status of Komodo Dragons; SRC_00175 — Effects of Human Activities on Komodo Dragons; SRC_00176 —

Evaluating Environmental, Demographic and Genetic Effects on Population-Level Survival; SRC_00177 —

Mechanisms and Origins of Reduced Dispersal]. In-game the Komodo and the reticulated python are the

CH02_B03 guardian-test pair (combat_permitted, framed as a guardian-test that opens the recharge

source, never a hunt of a protected animal). That framing governs staging and quest design, not

player agency: the win never requires a kill, and it never hardens into an animal that cannot be

killed.

Zone-placement note for the build, carried from the source audit: the species' documented habitat is

lowland deciduous monsoon forest and savanna, while the chapter zones sit in highland karst and

cloud forest (Liang Bua near Ruteng, the Wae Rebo bowl). Dragon encounters therefore seat on the

lowland and coastal approaches and the drier cone country rather than the cloud-forest hub, and the

tamarind valley-floor reading below describes that lowland country, not the highland zones

[SRC: SRC_00169; SRC_00175].

The behaviour below is real zoology rendered as in-world tells — what a patient player learns by

watching and then uses. It is a behaviour set, not a stat block, and it is shown rather than

declared: no NPC and no codex states it to the player as settled fact.

tamarind-dominated and threaded by permanent and ephemeral watercourses; open savannah and

shadeless ground are poor habitat because they do not permit efficient thermoregulation, though

the animal still forages and transits through them. The playable rule is a pursuit cost, not a

wall: hold or draw the animal onto exposed sun-baked ground at high sun and it slows, runs a

shade-debt, and breaks off — and the staged beat's designed resolution is the dragon retreating to

cover and recovering rather than cooking on open ground [SRC: SRC_00169; SRC_00176]

high-quality habitat, the vegetation itself is the tell — a player who learns to read the tree

line knows where the great lizards will be before seeing one [SRC: SRC_00169]

out brings dragons in and commits them to the bait. A planted lure pulls a stalking animal off a

route, splits its attention, or buys a crossing. The sense behind the draw is left unstated

in-world; the behaviour is the thing the player uses [SRC: SRC_00169; SRC_00175]

closer — it changes what happens on arrival. On wild ground the animal reacts at its own

distance: the head turns and it moves off. On fouled ground, with refuse and set-out meat, the

same species at the same distance simply does not respond, keeps feeding, and holds its place.

The tell inverts the intuition — the dragon that walks away is the safe one, and the one that

ignores you is the dangerous one [SRC: SRC_00175]

crowd unnaturally thick around the food, take village stock, and injure people. The stakes stay

in at full weight, and the fix is the feeding and the refuse rather than the animal. The

tourist-fed extreme is a modern condition and belongs to the Ch-63 revisit strata, not to the

pre-colonial present of Ch 2–3, where the fouled ground is village refuse and set-out meat at

village scale [SRC: SRC_00175]

largest adults hold the carcass by displacing and preying on smaller dragons. The real extremes

are the design ceiling — near three metres, near ninety kilos, decades of life — so a player who

watches from the edge reads the size hierarchy before meeting the top of it [SRC: SRC_00175;

SRC_00176]

hatchlings and small juveniles under about 1.5 kg keep to an arboreal phase in the canopy before

taking to the ground. Juveniles scattering upward are a living alarm that a large adult is

working the ground below, and the disturbed whelps are themselves a fast, low-threat

scatter-and-agility beat on the monsoon-forest approach to the recharge waterfall, distinct in

feel from the ground encounter [SRC: SRC_00169; SRC_00177]

covering as much as eight kilometres of ground, so the pressure it applies is coverage and

persistence rather than one fixed lurking point [SRC: SRC_00176]

by the extent of partial tail loss — a period-safe observation skill that lets a specific animal

be recognized across days and feeds the SQ9 naturalist's-eye read (the survey loop itself is

queued for the Section-13 fun-beat seed list at that section's pass, pending the minigame

framework) [SRC: SRC_00175]

holding ground far more aggressively near a nest through that window while the same ground is

passable outside it — the fauna layer's tie into the Section-18 time-and-season display

[SRC: SRC_00176]

hundred metres and effectively all movement stays inside the resident valley. Animals moved as

far as 30 km within an island returned to their capture ground within four months; animals moved

between islands did not return at all and stayed resident for years afterward. The limit that

holds is the sea channel rather than a stream — ocean crossings are rare enough that the island

populations do not function as one metapopulation. A player who has learned the homing predicts,

over weeks, exactly where a known dragon will be [SRC: SRC_00177; SRC_00169]

tracking each island's prey biomass — an island-scale reading that carries forward as the arc

crosses the Lesser Sundas. The size is honest ecology tied to prey wealth, never fantasy

gigantism [SRC: SRC_00177]

poor in condition, and poor at surviving — a scarcity a naturalist's eye can read in any period,

and the L2 depth under the fauna layer for the player who investigates it. The mechanism beneath

it is modern population genetics: the smallest and most isolated populations lose genetic

variation, carry the highest inbreeding, and survive least well, with survival best explained by

prey biomass, inbreeding, and habitat quality together. That mechanism is authorial and

modern-strata, recorded at the Section-19 revisit; the era-present player reads the scarcity,

never the coefficient [SRC: SRC_00169; SRC_00176; SRC_00177]

One thing this shelf does not attest is how the animal kills. Ambush, stalk, grip-and-hold, and the

septic-bite pathogenesis appear in none of the four region-scoped sources on full-text check, so no

hunting-mechanics or wound-condition claim enters here under cited-or-cut. The hold is a sourcing

gap, not a softening — the kill and the bite return at full weight the moment they are anchored, and

the gap is carried to the Section-16 verify list as an acquisition target.

The prey base is the ungulate trio the roster already carries — Timor deer (CR_0006), wild pig

(CR_0004), and water buffalo (CR_0012) — and prey biomass is what sets how many great lizards a

stretch of country can hold, so the droppings and tracks a hunter reads double as a map of where the

predator ranges [SRC: SRC_00176]. That gives the Ch-3 land-pressure arc a second, independent

register: where forest is converted to farmland and the wild ungulates are over-harvested, the apex

predator thins and goes, and in the modern record the Flores populations outside the protected areas

have declined for exactly those two reasons [SRC: SRC_00169; SRC_00176]. Glimpsed forward through a

time-fluctuation window, the same lingko edge stands emptied of deer and dragons alike. The two

registers are held parallel and neither collapses into the other — the roused naga tana of Section 5

and the documented trophic cascade are two true readings of one transgression, and the science

arrives as grounding for the folk warning, never as a debunk of it.

Modern conservation science stays in its own stratum. The decade-long mark-and-recapture demographic

study of the park populations, run by Indonesian institutions with international partners, is a real

twentieth- and twenty-first-century achievement, and it is recorded at the Section-19 modern revisit

[SRC: SRC_00169]. It is not attributed to the era-present Manggarai, Nage, Lio, Keo, or Ngadha

communities, whose own knowledge of this country is recorded in Sections 2, 4, and 5, and its

methods — cage traps, transponder tags, mark-recapture modelling — stay authorial and modern-strata,

never pre-colonial player technology.

Two audited fauna seeds are held out of this section and queued for the Section-13 pass, recorded

here so neither is lost in the routing: the goat-meat baiting questline (an ecological

cause-and-consequence quest with premise, NPC, integrity fork, and reward — the region-scope

side-quest list, not the SQ1 folklore lane), and the habituated livestock-raider encounter, which

relocates off manggarai_village_edge (agricultural, character-only, ambient_threat low, protected,

referenced-not-entered) onto a non-protected approach such as lingko_forest_edge, offers both a

non-lethal drive-off and a lethal line, and resolves with the endangered child unharmed

[SRC: SRC_00175].

Two region-ambient adds carry the section's other registers. The yellow-crested cockatoo (Cacatua

sulphurea) is named in the region's own conservation literature as the flagship species other than

the dragon that a visitor might be brought to see [SRC: SRC_00175], and the page takes it up as the

region's other flagship: the target of a patient canopy-observation beat that rewards a still hand

with a rare sighting and forest lore, a quiet counterpoint to the dragon. Its endemism to these

islands and its critically endangered status in life are authorial general knowledge rather than

claims of that source, and both bind the portrayal — real ecological weight, never a caged prize.

The eel-form place-spirit is the Manggarai restraint-and-consequence case: an eel in a stream may be

the temporary material form of a place-spirit, doubly spiritual as a snake-shaped animal bound to

potent water, and a person who injures one is encouraged to confess to a healer, who prepares

protective medicine [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]. The reflex to kill a

creature therefore carries an unseen cost and the healer's craft is the remedy — Thread 2 carried at

its smallest scale, feeding the Trade-4 protective-medicine loop at the CH_03 healer node.

Familiar candidate — full entry: Shell (W1), the Flores Giant Softshell Turtle, element Water, the

sustained-bond legacy familiar; encountered at the Ch-2 recharge waterfall as vril-trace

registration, bond formed at Ch 3 via Mama Klara's water-source offering protocol; present whenever

the Water slot is active thereafter. Folkloric beings route to Creature_Roster.folklore_attribution

(the retired T0_Folklore_Entity_Registry is absorbed): the polo (Nage/Lio soul-eater witch-being),

the Ebu Gogo (Nage/Ngada wild-folk, CR_0010), and the naga tana (the Manggarai soil-guardian

serpent) — each rendered as its tradition holds it, mythologically-stylized only when roused, never

Hollywood-monstered. The Ebu Gogo row carries the Nage's own frame with it: hairy beings of

genuinely ambiguous status, said to have lived in a desolate place in Nage land, whose humanity the

Nage themselves hold doubtful, whom they are ambivalent about calling animals, whom they deny were

spirits, and who are said — in the Nage's own telling, about two centuries ago — to have been

destroyed by the ancestors of an incoming group [SRC: SRC_00457 — Human Beings and Other People:

Classification in Flores]. That liminality is the entry, and the ethnographer's own reading of them

as probably imaginary is the authorial anchor: the deep-time resonance is an acknowledged echo and

never proof, the account of their ending stays in the tradition's own voice and is never restaged as

an act by or against a living community, and the Komodo dragon is held firmly on the other side of

the line — a real, documented animal, never a cryptid and never a mythic dragon.

Section 4 — People and Culture

Flores is home to distinct peoples across the island's length — in the chapter_set, the Manggarai of

the west (Ch 3) and the Nage, Ngada, Lio, and Keo of the central highlands (Ch 2's folklore

stratum). §17.1 binds: these are living peoples, rendered with weight and as they understand

themselves, and the page records the represent-with-care posture per community. The record is

grounded in region-scoped ethnography, not generic "island tribe" shorthand — and the naming

discipline is a correctness rule rather than a courtesy. Every claim below is attributed to the

specific people whose record attests it, because the sources are themselves people-specific: a Keo

land-law finding is not a Manggarai one, a Nage rite is not danced on Manggarai ground, and "the

Flores people" is not a category this page uses. Where the Manggarai counterpart of a documented

central-highland institution is simply unknown to the processed corpus, the page says so rather than

transferring a neighbour's version into the gap.

Demographics and social structure: highland agricultural communities organized by clan and adat

(customary law). The Keo of central Flores hold an articulated relationship of people-to-ancestral-land

that the substrate records in the people's own frame [SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land:

A Keo Perspective], and the Nage classification of "human beings and other people" — the ordered

lexicon by which a community sorts kin, stranger, and spirit — is likewise documented [SRC:

SRC_00457 — Human Beings and Other People: Classification in Flores]. Those two anchors carry the

people-to-land frame and the social-classification frame, and the page does not stretch them further:

the lingko cooperative-tenure reading and the radial fan of communal fields around a center-stone are

the Section-7 institution still pending the MUST-ACQUIRE Erb, and appearance for NPC design, dress

(the ikat and songket cloth), marriage detail, and per-settlement data for Wae Rebo, Ruteng, Todo and

the Kelimutu-adjacent Lio villages are not attested by either source — Section 16 records the textile

substrate in particular as an honest gap rather than a citation. Those lanes stay open against the

Section-16 acquisitions instead of being filled from a neighbouring people's record.

The Nage lexicon is the standing substrate for the Ch-2 central-highland surfaces. It runs ata (the

distancing word for outsiders, other people, and the unfamiliar) against hoga (one of us, a person

whose clanship is known), and the paper's own finding is that the line is context-relative and

inclusive rather than fixed — anyone treated as kin can cross it [SRC: SRC_00457, p. 494, p. 501,

p. 510]. That is the vocabulary the assimilation-integrity system reads the protagonist's standing

through at CH_02, and the arc that moves a stranger across it is staged in Section 13. The Manggarai

side of the arc at CH_03 is not run on Nage words: the same study attests the Manggarai cognates

ité ata for "human being" and tau as the human classifier [SRC: SRC_00457, p. 505, p. 496 n2], and

those are the only Manggarai standing terms the processed corpus carries — the fuller Manggarai

vocabulary of insider and stranger waits on the MUST-ACQUIRE Erb rather than being borrowed from the

central highlands. Every term named here carries a glossary entry per the Section-17 localization

discipline.

Builders of knowledge — the L2 civilizational-marks lane, each achievement credited to the people

whose record attests it:

presented as the legitimate cultural epistemology the researchers describe.

who reads, plants, and ritually manages it, and the uma randang festival at which new fields are

opened [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]. That is the extent of what the

processed corpus attests for the Manggarai; the fuller cooperative-tenure and radial-fan geometry

stays pending the MUST-ACQUIRE Erb (Section 16), and is not backfilled from another people's

record in the meantime.

highland villages [SRC: SRC_00203, p. 271]. The lowland dam and concrete channels below Wae Rebo

are a 1970s state project and wet-rice is a recently introduced technology in this record, so

neither is credited here as an enduring Manggarai engineering mark — the honest mark is the roads.

Makassarese and Buginese traders who carried spears and cloths from Sumba into the central-Flores

exchange network [SRC: SRC_00457, p. 496 n2, p. 498]. The smithing belongs to Ndao and is

attributed there, not to any Flores people; what the mark records is the web these highland

communities sat inside, and it feeds Section 9.

One candidate mark is deliberately not credited, and the reason is recorded so it is not re-proposed:

the coconut-shell charcoal, lime and palm-fibre, and dry-fried tamarind-seed cleansing materials that

appear in the Manggarai and Sikka witchcraft fieldwork [SRC: SRC_00469 — Sorcery and Witchcraft in

Flores, Indonesia] are introduced there as the method of a single contemporary practitioner trained

in biology and chemistry whose practice begins in 2013 — not as a community-held or transmitted

Flores tradition — and the chemistry as the source states it does not hold. It is therefore neither a

civilizational mark nor pre-colonial-present material; where it is used at all it belongs to the

Section-18 modern window as one practitioner's syncretic method, with the real adsorption and

complexation chemistry sourced from chemistry references rather than from this testimony.

Festival and daily life — the immersion lane, every beat opt-in and non-gating:

the women draw water, to sacrifice and to ask that the source be remembered and blessed for the

year of daily use ahead [SRC: SRC_00203, p. 280]. A recurring calendar festival at the

wae_water_spring and wae_rebo_village zones; the player may attend and take a role, the

gong-waning ensemble scores it (Section 10), and the community read (FORK_CH03_A) hears how the

player carried themselves.

p. 2] — the same caldera the player climbs as a boss site is, in the festival window, a place of

meaning before or after it is a place of danger. That is the whole of what the corpus attests: a

name, an annual cycle, and a place. A living sacred ritual is referenced, never reproduced or

invented, so no ceremonial content is authored for it here, and the lakes stay held as both

documented volcanic-lake chemistry and the Lio reading of them.

rank — the upper head and ears to the leader who sits and listens, the snout to the one who

speaks, further portions to lesser elders — where claiming a portion one is not entitled to

insults the whole community [SRC: SRC_00230, p. 222-223]. The record carries its own provision for

the incorporated Muslim community whose §17.1 protection runs with the Keo's: where the speaker's

office is held by a Muslim, the pig's snout passes to his delegate and he takes the goat's nose

himself when a goat is slaughtered. Reading the precedence correctly (whom to defer to, what to

accept, what to decline) earns standing; a greedy or ignorant claim sours the room. It feeds the

community-read forks at both chapters.

announce themselves in formal oratory by clan or village, and in the cosmology the slaughter is a

reciprocal inversion — the mountain spirits take humans in the form of spirit-buffalo, and the

Nage's buffalo-sacrificing destroys the maleficent spirits in return [SRC: SRC_00457, p. 501,

p. 509]. The player may be invited to declare a name and take a role in the slaughter, or simply

witness the rite. This is Nage central-highland ground and is deliberately not seated at the

Manggarai caci ground at Todo; it ties the region's existing bull-and-buffalo weave (LINK_0117),

which already anchors the Flores buffalo-sacrifice tradition in the Ch-2 stratum. The page records

the consequence honestly: the Zone Catalog carries no Nage or Keo central-highland zone at all —

every Ch-2 zone is cave, crater, cone or waterfall and every Ch-3 zone is Manggarai — so this rite

and the whole Keo and Nage record below it have no ground to stand on yet. Two deep-read audits

routed that zone-coverage gap to this pass; it is logged here for the build pass rather than

resolved by seating central-highland material on Manggarai land.

to one side so the poti may pass; do not drink from certain named streams; do not shout near a

field with a reputation; do not go to the spring at dusk [SRC: SRC_00203, p. 274-275].

Transgression brings a sumang, a draining meeting with a place-spirit that leaves a person tired

or ill until a healer's protective medicine clears it. Villagers teach the avoidances and

observing them is how a traveler stays safe — the tell-and-cleanse pair runs across the

lingko_forest_edge, wae_water_spring, and highland-forage approaches and feeds Trade-4 Herbalism

(Section 14).

harm-magic has grown too heavy, the community calls an open gathering — frank public talk of the

fear, a shared oath renouncing all harm-magic, and quiet private confession for any who carry it

[SRC: SRC_00469, p. 99]. The documented program ran 2002-2007, so it is reached through the

Section-18 time-fluctuation window and never sits in the pre-colonial present. It is the community

healing itself from within — the deliberate counter-image to fear turning on a neighbour — and the

pastoral role in it is benevolent; neither the Church nor adat is an antagonist axis.

Represent-with-care posture: the Manggarai, Ngada, Nage, Lio, and Keo are protected communities;

combat never routes through them; the healer/dukun role is benevolent; malevolence is grounded in

the traditions' own named agents. Care here is calibrated rather than inflated — the region renders

at care tier standard, the tier the spine already stages both Flores bosses at, with §17.1

collective protection binding in full; the one strand that carries elevated handling wherever it is

reached is the harm-magic and accusation substrate, because the record behind it documents real and

recent killings in a living community. Care means weight and authenticity, never omission: the

peoples' own hard material is carried, not smoothed away — the fear of harm-magic that cebong beo

exists to answer, the strictness of a feast precedence whose breach insults a whole community, the

sacrificial weight of the buffalo rite and the penti spring offering. What §17.1 protects is the

collective: no living people cast as villain, defamed, or made the target, and no defamatory trope

carried forward. It does not make individual antagonists who belong to these communities untouchable,

and it does not license flattening five peoples into one voice. The modern-and-colonial strata

(Portuguese, Dutch, and the mission century, which reaches Manggarai only in the late 1920s) are

reached as time-fluctuation windows and are the site of the arc's honest historical weight, routed

through the colonial and state apparatus, never through the Manggarai, Ngada, Nage, Lio, or Keo

communities themselves.

Section 5 — Spiritual Traditions and Occult

Cosmology: the Flores highland traditions hold the land itself a potent agent, and they hold it

populated. The Manggarai name the non-human persons ata pale-sina, the people on the other side —

they see us, we do not see them [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]. The Nage sort

persons on a second axis, one that runs inside the human world: ata for the outsider and the

unfamiliar, hoga for one's own known kind, kita ata for the whole of humanity. The two axes meet,

because spirits take human form (bali kita ata) and each community counts itself human and the other

spirit within its own domain — a reciprocal inversion the cosmology holds symmetrically rather than a

hierarchy of real and unreal [SRC: SRC_00457 — Human Beings and Other People: Classification in

Flores]. Those three person-terms are Nage, and this pass adds them to the Section 17 localization

glossary under that people's name (the glossary's standing entries are Manggarai and Lio; the labels

are kept apart, never pooled as "Flores"), surfaced through how NPCs address the protagonist rather

than through exposition.

The Manggarai recognize the darat (the beautiful amoral spirits of forest and spring) and the naga

tana (the serpent guardian of the soil), which must be asked — through a ritual contract, the

ngoéng-de-tana, what the land wants — before the land is used; violate the contract, and the guardian

is roused. The record deepens both. The darat are also called kakartana, creatures of the land: they

inhabit and guard forests, mountain-tops, great rocks, rivers, ponds and lakes, are friendly by

default, and are offended only when their places are disturbed — when trees are cut without

acknowledgement they take a child and hide it alive in the forest, and it comes home when the rite of

reconciliation is performed, which is the human-scale face of the Ch-3 land pressure [SRC: SRC_00469

— Sorcery and Witchcraft in Flores, Indonesia]. The naga are good guardians named for their charge —

naga golo and naga beo for a village, naga tana for the soil — and every village is held to keep at

least one, so BE_0003_S1 at the wae is a guardian holding its own contract, appeased and never slain

[SRC: SRC_00469]. Behind both stand the empo de tana, the ancestors of the land: not the dead of any

family but the original owners, addressed at fields, forests and water sources, described as

officials who guard the key sites and who tell the people where a rite may be held at all — the

reason a ritual has a correct place and not merely a correct form [SRC: SRC_00203]. The vital-force

parallel (Thread 1) is semangat, the culturally named form of the vril substrate — vril reads

mathematical/physical, the substrate the protagonist's people lived in, and the firewall against the

Bulwer-Lytton/"Vril Society" conspiracy register is absolute (semangat is a living-tradition

vital-force concept, never race-mystical polar energy).

The named beings, each in its own tradition's category and under its own name. All route to

Creature_Roster.folklore_attribution; none mints a BE_ row, since the boss slate is spine authority:

place, named for what they keep: nitu kazu for forest trees, nitu mbaru sao for houses, nitu mata

wae for springs, and among the Lamaholot the nitung are addressed as kaka ari, brothers and

sisters, reckoned into the human family [SRC: SRC_00469]. The L1.5 substrate that makes a spring, a

great tree and a doorway each quietly owned. The Nage also use nitu as the cover term for free

spirits, who shapeshift into human and animal form and set a standard of beauty no ordinary person

reaches — a strikingly beautiful human is called hoga nitu or bu'e nitu, and some prominent men are

said to keep a bu'e nitu as a spirit-wife: an encounter class of beautiful, ambiguous

spirit-persons, carried with adult weight and never as titillation [SRC: SRC_00457]

stone that will not be moved until its owners are acknowledged, an obstruction-and-placation beat.

The category is baseline-attested; the source's one recorded instance of the placating rite is a

mission-era Mass at the rocks, so that telling belongs to the Section-18 colonial window and not to

the chapters' present [SRC: SRC_00203]

one who gives a visible sign: a spider appears on a field's lodok center-stone and walks a slow

circle to say the land wants its festival. It consumes CR_0016 (the Flores orb-weaver) as its

material form and is a solemn owner, never a trickster [SRC: SRC_00203]

named fields and streams that acquire a reputation; poti keep their own paths, which are ritually

blocked at harvest, and villagers said on reflection that the poti really are the land itself, tana

drunk from, a spring not visited at dusk [SRC: SRC_00203]

eel in a stream, doubly spiritual as snake-like and bound to potent water; harming it risks

spiritual attack until it is confessed to a healer. The restraint-and-consequence fauna case, and

own condemned night-predator, staged as a real SQ1 folklore-combat encounter alongside the ineweu

The head-taking stays the spirit's act and is never a portrait of the living Manggarai [SRC:

SRC_00203]

cast to catch and drag off the unwary in the night forest. A myth's own monster is a boss: staged

SRC_00469]

nefarious highland spirits who live near the volcano's summit while people hold the lower slopes,

and who hunt in the form of a Brahminy kite wheeling overhead; the village warning-formula that

sends everyone under cover is the tradition's own counter [SRC: SRC_00457]. Seated at the existing

mount_inerie_cone_country highland zone — the source's named mountain is Ebu Lobo in Nage country,

cited but not staged, since the chapter sites remain Kelimutu and Inerie

successor's dream to anoint them and name a medicine, and who will walk the living through night

forest to a hidden tree. Real and portrayable in this world's cosmology: a guide and quest-enabler,

held strictly distinct from the soul-eater [SRC: SRC_00483 — Traditional Healing of the Lio People

of Flores]

Ritual practice and spiritual leadership: the dukun/healer (Mama Klara's role) is a keeper of good

knowledge — diagnosis, the waterfall restoration ritual, the herbal pharmacopoeia — and is

benevolent, never the antagonist. Two documented practitioner lineages ground that posture and are

this region's School_Registry candidates (proposal-tier; the page consumes and extends, it does not

ratify a roster) — and they sit in different strata, which the page states rather than blurs. The Lio

atabhisa — ata, person, plus bhisa, ability — is chronology-safe at the chapters' pre-colonial

baseline and is a healing tradition with no classroom: the calling is not taught and not chosen by

will, a deceased ancestor-healer selects a close-kin successor and imparts diagnosis, mantra, ritual,

plant knowledge and preparation whole, in a single dream; the core healing prayer is secret,

referenced as secret and never invented or displayed [SRC: SRC_00483]. The Manggarai atambeko — from

mbeko, knowledge — is the adat maker of white magic and diviner, the baseline-safe counter-practitioner

who finds and neutralizes planted sorcery-media, and the good detection-and-cleansing role the

region's SQ4 investigation loop is built on [SRC: SRC_00469]. The para pendoa are that same

benevolent role in the region's LATER stratum and are seated there, not in the chapters' present: lay

Catholics held to have a charism for finding planted media, who feel the buried heat, lift and burn

the media, and heal with prayer and sacramental holy water. Catholicism reaches Manggarai only in the

late 1920s, so this lineage surfaces through the Section-18 mission window and reads there as the

community's own living faith — never genericized into folk practice, never sinister, and never an

antagonist [SRC: SRC_00469]. No named practitioner from the source enters any registry: the role

enters, the informants do not. All three are held as the practitioners hold themselves, and the Lio

and Manggarai lineages stay culturally distinct rather than merged into one island healer.

The malevolent register is the traditions' own condemned figures, each under its own people's name

and held apart from the healer at every point. Among the Ngada, Nage and Keo, the Ende and the Lio

the soul-eater is polo, plainly evil spirit, with the night-form polo mburi mera specifically Lio;

the western Manggarai counterpart is janto, literally poison, and its owner the ata janto, who

commissions a spirit to strike a neighbour — the attack of an evil spirit, not a drug in a cup [SRC:

SRC_00469]. In the Nage account an ata polo is not a separate species but a person whose soul, mae,

has been displaced by a harmful essence, wa, taken on through an illicit pact, by contagion, by

breaching the cannibalism taboo, or by talking to animals — human in outward form and non-human

within, and possibly a close kinsman, which is exactly the wa-for-mae exchange under the Ch-2 bargain

and Rangku Wera's hollowing [SRC: SRC_00457]. The Manggarai bargain carries a body of its own:

the wina wa, second-hidden wife, or rona wa, second-hidden husband, the bound spirit that lives in

the practitioner and leaves the sleeping body at night to hunt, and that can be sent ahead of its

owner as a forerunner (the Nage cognate is the plain wa) [SRC: SRC_00469]. Its night-shapes, attested

at Rego in West Manggarai, are that people's stalking register — poti laco and poti mbolang, the

naked forms, and poti ngeping with its mata mbere, the red eye that comes in by night, alongside the

cat, the great dog and the horse a witch is said to go abroad as [SRC: SRC_00469]. The same record

carries the modern history of accusation and lethal mob violence against accused neighbours, and that

is precisely why the malevolence seats in the bargain and its sent agent: the enemy is the

spirit-evil and the harm it does, the game never offers an accused villager as a target, and the

red-eye stigma stays on the spirit-form and is never a physiognomy laid on real people [SRC:

SRC_00469]. The twisted-word sorcerer who inverts the proverb tradition (Tombo Holes, BE_0003_S3)

belongs to this register, never to the healer's.

Myths: the Tiwu Ata Polo crater lake (the lake of the wicked dead), the Ebu Gogo wild-folk, the

snake-island serpent tradition, and the Austronesian flood memory — which has a named local form in

the Keo founding tradition of Worowatu, where a Keo girl of Wondo was betrothed to a whale and the

cancelled marriage brought the inundation that drove the refugees to the mountain slope where the

village stands; the deluge is the aggrieved suitor's grief itself, oceanic and weighty, a myth's own

great being rather than a sea-monster [SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land: A Keo

Perspective]. It is carried at page grain as the Keo community's own founding story and routes to SQ1

folklore and the Thread-4 flood memory; the chapter_set holds no coastal zone, so no site is asserted

for it here and the encounter surface is deferred to the coastal flood-memory node rather than

declined.

Occult connections and player rabbit holes: the anti-fringe corrective is authorial only (never a

player debunk). The Homo floresiensis / Ebu Gogo resonance is drawn as a deliberate, acknowledged

echo, never asserted as proof the folklore beings were the hominins — the equation is an outsider

media-and-science overlay, and the scholarship closest to the tradition reads the beings as probably

imaginary [SRC: SRC_00457]. The Nage account is carried on its own terms and not as evidence either

way: the ebu gogo were short, hairy, group-living cave-dwellers who spoke a broken version of the

local language laced with an mmm sound, they dwelt at the Lia Ula cave until the people of 'Ua ended

them roughly two centuries ago, and the Nage insist they were real creatures and not spirits [SRC:

SRC_00193 — Palaeoanthropology and Local Legends: Homo floresiensis and the Ebu Gogo]. That is a

living people's own history and its own folk-taxonomy, carried with weight and never as an

indictment; the outsider equation stays out of player-facing text, and Lia Ula is the source's named

cave, cited but not staged — the chapter cave remains Liang Bua. The Kelimutu colour shifts are held

as both documented volcanic-lake chemistry AND the Lio/Nage lake-of-the-dead tradition, neither

collapsed into fringe "proof." Registry feeds: School content routes to T0_School_Registry (consume +

extend — the atabhisa and atambeko/pendoa candidates above, with their strata carried); folkloric

beings to Creature_Roster.folklore_attribution; the Nage person-terms ata, hoga and kita ata to the

Section 17 localization glossary, added under their own people's name.

Section 6 — Weapons Military and Conflict

Era weapons: the caci whip-and-shield tradition is the region's signature martial form — the larik

(rawhide whip) and the nggiling/rattan shield, danced as a scored ceremonial contest with an

agricultural blood-fertilizes-earth meaning, never a brawl. The chapter-anchored weapon add is

WPN_033 Shield (BRUTE, off-hand), which roots here: the caci rounds seat the player's first off-hand

Shield and ground the CH_03 main boss's PARRY verb (the whip-and-shield rhythm). The Ch-2 layer is

pre-weapon — the child's first survival body-grammar.

The highland martial material is rattan, hide, and hardwood rather than forged steel (Section 9), and

the substrate now carries part of the reason rather than leaving it an assumption: the metalworking

craft of this trade world is itinerant and comes from outside central Flores. The gold- and

silversmiths of Ndao, off Roti, are the named smithing craft, and the Makassarese and Buginese

traders the Nage call Wio Goa are recorded carrying spears and cloths from Sumba into the

central-Flores network [SRC: SRC_00457 — Human Beings and Other People: Classification in Flores].

The record names the smiths' work as gold and silver and does not describe the carried spears'

material, so no claim about imported steel arms is made here. Both attributions stay exactly where

the record puts them — the smithing to Ndao, the spear-and-cloth carriage to the Makassarese and

Buginese traders, documented there only as trade-contacts in the Nage lexicon — and never to the

Manggarai, Nage, Lio, Keo, or Ngadha themselves. What it grounds at region grain is a highland world

that meets both smithing craft and carried spears as things arriving along the same Lesser Sundas

routes Section 9 carries, while its own martial craft stays the rattan-and-hide line the caci trains.

Legendary candidate (per the 72-weapon canon, 36 Brute + 36 Trickery): the region's legendary seat is

the caci off-hand Shield line — a ceremonial rattan-and-hide shield elevated to a legendary defensive

weapon whose four-ability pool draws on the caci's read-and-turn discipline (the clean parry, the kept

count, the answering pass). The full legendary detail FEEDS T0_Weapon_Registry at the build pass; the

anchor is WPN_033.

Armor, military organization, warrior culture: no standing army, and at the pre-colonial highland

present of both chapters the martial layer stays the caci contest and the village defense against the

deforestation crew (Ch 3). Where the record does show war it is Keo war, and it is raised rather than

maintained — allied war-parties drawn across neighbouring domains and peoples for the length of a

quarrel, then dispersed [SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective]; none of it

carries across to the Manggarai, whose own martial institutions wait on the pending MUST-ACQUIRE Erb.

Belonging itself can be earned that way: in Keo adat an outsider becomes a rightful land-holder

through a named service contract, war-service above all (to'o jogho mbana daka), the land granted as

a gift that is never taken back and carrying a standing ritual obligation afterward [SRC: SRC_00230 —

We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective]. That is the region's warrior-culture fact worth

building on — service in a fight is a documented route into a community, composing with the

assimilation-integrity lane rather than with any rank structure.

Documented conflict:

transgression the chapter resolves, routed through the broker Ngoéng Tana and his bought apparatus

and never through the Manggarai community.

'Udi-Worowatu on one side, Niondoa and Giriwawo on the other — sparked when a portion of a

sacrificial pig's head was refused at a garden-clearing feast, escalating from that point of ritual

honour into a generation of fighting waged with firearms and with kadha, drawing in Lio and Ende

war-allies, and ended only when a neutral peacemaking team from a third village forced a settlement

[SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective]. It sits four to five generations

before the ethnography that records it, reconstructed through genealogy rather than witness, and is

reached as a time-fluctuation glimpse (Section 18) in the early-1800s stratum — a war between Flores

domains, not a colonial campaign.

those peoples as witches is the region's other attested organized violence, and it is recorded here

as a pointer only [SRC: SRC_00457 — Human Beings and Other People: Classification in Flores]: its

subject is scapegoating, its sanctioned resolution is exposing an accusation rather than winning a

battle, and its staging and care handling live in Sections 4 and 5. It is named here so this section

does not read as though the Keo feud and the colonial strata were the whole record.

The feud's staging terms, binding wherever it is built:

is staged as the aggressor, no still-existing village is cast as villain, and no real named ancestor

is ported as a character.

caricature of a living people; the Lio and Ende war-allies are carried with weight, never as

monster-factions.

honour becomes a generation of blood, are both player surfaces. Combat inside the war is not ruled

out by these terms either — a documented war stays playable at the region's mature bar, and the

weight is carried by consequence rather than by absence. What no surface does is settle which real

village was right, and no encounter is framed as one side's righteousness.

The historical firearm and its provenance: the same record carries a named gun. Meriam Se Ndai, a

great fire-gun brought from Ende by a war-ally, is remembered as the weapon that destroyed the Ndai,

and afterwards became a sacred war-heirloom whose possession stands as proof of a land claim, with

rival source-houses telling contradictory histories of how it came into their keeping [SRC: SRC_00230

— We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective]. The Ndai are a real people the record describes as

destroyed: that is history held with weight, never an enabled or encouraged goal, and the object is a

weighted heirloom-and-proof rather than a trophy of extermination. Design terms this page binds:

still-unresolved dispute's party structure; no real living person is portrayed, and the claimant the

story disfavours is never coded as a Muslim, immigrant, or minority family — §17.1 collective care

protects the incorporated Hadrami community exactly as it protects the Keo.

histories are power-inflected reconstructions, so the honest surface is an integrity fork over which

claim the player backs and what backing it costs, not a mystery with one correct answer.

the 72-weapon roster is closed at 36 Brute and 36 Trickery with all four to-add slots resolved and

Josh-confirmed (WPN_035 Shotel, WPN_036 Macuahuitl, WPN_071 Reindeer-Antler Knife, WPN_072 Woomera),

and the live registry carries no heirloom or artifact class — the registry question is flagged, not

decided here.

SQ2 military_history substrate: SQ2 seeds at Ch 3 on the caci technique, the region's living

martial-history surface (Derived Indexes). The feud and the heirloom gun deepen the same questline's

substrate one stratum out — both reached through the time-fluctuation windows rather than at the

chapters' pre-colonial present, and both carrying no chapter reference in the harvest, so no chapter

assignment and no SQ2 stage is asserted here.

Acquisition standing: this pass does not close the caci gap. The deep-read harvest returned nothing on

the whip-and-shield technique, the scoring, or the ceremonial round structure, so the Section-16

verify-list entry stands unchanged — the region's signature martial form still rests on the pending

MUST-ACQUIRE Erb, The Manggaraians, with deep-research carrying it until that lands. Source-ledger

note: this pass makes SRC_00230 and SRC_00457 Section-6 anchors as well as Section-4/7 ones, and

places an early-1800s inter-domain war window inside the Section-18 strata, so the Section-16

reference list, the Section-18 stratum list, and the Section-20 population plan take the same-pass

entry.

Section 7 — Architecture and Engineering

REAL cultural architecture is reference-built, never raw-generated (§17.1); generation is sanctioned

for fantastical/vril structures only. The region's built environment is a documented achievement:

the mbaru niang of Wae Rebo — the five-story conical timber houses that hold the 2012 UNESCO

Asia-Pacific Award of Excellence for Cultural Heritage Conservation — is reference-built as protected

living heritage. Settlement layout radiates from the compang, the communal stone platform-center

(the arc's first human-built axis mundi), with the lingko spider-web (lodok) fields fanning out from

it — a documented customary land-tenure and cooperative-irrigation achievement still worked today,

credited to Manggarai adat (the specific lingko/compang institution anchors pending the MUST-ACQUIRE Erb, The Manggaraians; SRC_00230 is a Keo people-to-land source, cross-region for this Manggarai institution and cited here only for the general people-to-land frame). The Ngada megalithic

ngadhu/bhaga platforms are likewise reference-built and protected.

Engineering feats and Book-of-Trades entries: the mbaru-niang cone-roof construction (the Thread-13

sacred-geometry proportions), the compang center-stone geometry, and the lingko field hydrology are

the Trade-8 Engineering substrate seeds (echoes; no home base roots here — the Trade homes root

later in the arc). The agility course at Wae Rebo is the mbaru-niang five-story ascent

(architecture-vertical, biome-rotated against Ch 2's canopy-horizontal course).

The region's picked look-law is RATIFIED: BRD_0001's establishing pick is A2 (the ladder of stone

and fire — the altitude-banded macro frame) with the A1 addressed-threshold typology MANDATED as

zone-scale set dressing, under Josh's binding conditions — no drift; fun and beautiful;

action-adventure-fantasy RPG. Every Flores art and asset call reads the ratified bible, not the

board [SRC: docs/art_bibles/flores_island.md].

Section 8 — Politics Territories and Faction Relationships

Political structure: adat-governed highland communities, each organized around its lingko and

compang, led by ritual elders (the Manggarai tua golo / tua teno land-authorities). Territories are

the lingko field-fans and their forest margins; the Ch-3 conflict is precisely a territorial one —

an outside broker (Ngoéng Tana) clearing lingko-adjacent forest without the ritual contract to force

the village off its fields.

Five-Factors faction table (per neighbor) — the region carries one live pressure structure and

several ambient economic ties; path language uses the ratified fork vocabulary (options are

ACTION-keyed with direction {generative, neutral, corrosive}; bands are DERIVED, never option

labels):

(oppressor apparatus); player impact — the Ch-3 spine resolves it; standing on arrival adversarial;

improve n/a (it is exposed and lifted, not befriended); questline the CH_03 main quest

set by conduct (FORK_CH03_A community read); standing on arrival wary-welcome; improve by standing

with the village (generative), degrade by reading its need as a tool (corrosive); questline SQ2

caci, SQ4 healer's-child

player impact light; standing neutral; improve by trade; questline Merchant Siti's rumor chain

player impact set by the Kelimutu mark (FORK_CH02_A); standing on arrival distant; questline SQ1,

SQ9

Wars with the player's role: none at region scale — the conflict is a land-grab and its resolution,

not a war.

Section 9 — Minerals Resources and Trade Goods

Minerals and resources per resource, with Book-of-Trades entries: volcanic stone (the compang

platforms, the megalithic ngadhu — the Trade-8 Engineering material), cotton (the ikat/songket

weaving fiber — the Trade-6 Tailoring substrate), forest hardwood and bamboo and rattan (the

mbaru-niang timber and the caci shield), and the geothermal and mineral character of the Kelimutu

system. Blacksmithing/metallurgy: minimal in the highland pre-colonial layer — the martial material

is rattan-and-hide (the caci), not forged steel; metallurgy is not a region home.

Trade goods, routes, currency, markets: the region's trade face is the ikat and songket cloth, the

gongs (the Thread-21 vril-active instruments), and the highland agricultural surplus; the routes run

the inter-island Lesser Sundas network toward Bali (the Ch-4 crossing) and the wider Austronesian

sea-lineage. Merchant Siti and Trade-Envoy Tuan Yosef carry the economic-web edges. No trade home

base roots in the region — the Trade-6 Tailoring substrate seeds via the weavers (Emma at Ch 2, Ibu

Martina at Ch 3), with the ancient home rooting later at Ch 21.

Section 10 — Music Sound and Composition Brief

Documented instruments: the Flores gong-waning (the tuned gong-and-drum ensemble), central to the

caci ceremony (Pak Kornelius's ensemble at Ch 3) and canonized as the region's Thread-21 vril-active

instrument — the first demonstration in the arc of an instrument creating audible vril resonance

(Weaving 4). Musical theory: the gong-waning interlocking-cycle structure; the ceremonial drumming

that scores the caci rounds. No reproduction of protected sacred music — the gong-waning register

is reference-composed, never sampled from consecrated performance.

Composition briefs per track type (each cue carries its adaptive-class tag {adaptive | loop |

oneshot}, derived from the cue's own behavior, for Music Step 4 stem-splitting): a

survival-horror-opener register for Ch 2 (low and tense,

rising to the crater-lake climax; the stalk's combat cue) {adaptive}; a highland-ceremonial register

for Ch 3 (rising at the caci duel; the gong-waning ensemble at reference register) {adaptive}; a

restoration/threshold cue for the two waterfall recharge sites {loop (class provisional)}; an ambient

cloud-forest bed for Wae Rebo {loop}. Sound design:

cave and volcanic-jungle terrain enum, geothermal-vent and waterfall and monsoon-forest ambient, the

vril-cast tier for the recharge and the polo's hollow register, inscription-activation at the

deep-cave vril-trace. Voice/audio tiering: bulk ambient NPC and crowd lines route to the local

no-clone tier; hero/named voices (Mama Klara's spare pronouncing register, the hollowed hunter's

degraded register) to the clone-authorized tier behind the §4.4.1 gate. Substrate-confidence flag

(echoed from Section 16 so the audio batch audit sees it here): the caci contest detail and the

gong-waning musical theory are thin in the processed corpus — a Section-6/10 acquisition or

deep-research gap — so this music brief rests on thin substrate pending that acquisition.

Machine cue table (generated -- do NOT hand-edit)

Emitted by harness/emit_music_cues.py from the spine beat graph, this page's Zone Catalog, T0_SFX_Registry and T0_Theme_Registry. The composition briefs above stay prose because a composer reads prose; these rows are what the build consumes. Re-emit rather than edit.

Reading bed_source and licence_class together: sonniss_landed rows are direct use of a landed Sonniss file, and the Sonniss bundle licence prohibits use as training data -- no Sonniss file is ever a fine-tune corpus, a LoRA corpus, or an audio conditioning input for any generator. ace_step_worklist rows are generated beds (ACE-Step-1.5-XL-SFT, MIT) and must not be derived from any Sonniss row; each produced bed records its generating model and licence in T0_SFX_Registry.generation_licence_ref. composed_work rows are the composer-in-loop lane. The constraint travels on the row because this block is the surface that reaches canon.

layer_mode: base is the melodic statement a swap layer REPLACES -- layers are interchangeable, never additive, so the melody is present at every intensity. ambience_stack is the single declared exemption and it carries no melodic material.

Section 11 — Velheim Family Presence

None. This is a reveal-ladder constraint, not an omission: the region sits at Ch 2–3, the arc's

origin, and the corruption pattern the arc is secretly about appears here only at its pre-family

scales — the polo's individual soul-eater bargain (Ch 2) and a pre-colonial community-institutional

land-pressure (Ch 3). The House of Velheim does not exist to the player here and first appears at

Ch 8; no institutional form, family character, or operative chain is surfaced. The page NEVER

exceeds the reveal ladder at its chapters' positions — no who-frame, no Corr/Astrid, no Cassius, no

thesis, no Grand Sage. The antagonist apparatus is entirely local: the broker Ngoéng Tana and his

bought champion, exposed and lifted by the Ch-3 spine.

Section 12 — All Characters Full Entries

The protagonist's path through the region references the spine (CH_02 and CH_03), never duplicating

it: arrival as loss at Liang Bua, the first recharge, surviving the polo's bargain and the Hollow

Hunter, reaching the village edge (Ch 2); the healer's restoration, the caci contest, the roused

land and the land-grab, the first chosen bond (Ch 3). NPCs are MetaHuman-first; each entry carries

the persona fields per the entity-persona system (personality, background, daily routine for the

behavior system, three-path outcomes via the direction vocabulary, dialogue hooks, build notes).

The region's named cast (consumed from T0_Character_Index; personas FEED at the build pass):

floor; never a companion, never reappears after Ch 3 (a hard lock); inviolate

companion, active-joins Ch 13; held as mystery, never explained at page grain

bargain (distinct from his ethical-hunter foil Hunter Anselmus, CHAR_0011); BE_0002; freed, not

killed

(CHAR_0012), Fisherman Yohanes (CHAR_0013), Healer Maria (CHAR_0014), Merchant Siti (CHAR_0015)

— the Ch-2 village-edge roster; teachers and neighbours, never targets

Weaver-Elder Ibu Martina (CHAR_0018), Trade-Envoy Tuan Yosef (CHAR_0019), Hunter-Father Pak Petrus

(CHAR_0020), Peer Agnesius (CHAR_0021), Musician Pak Kornelius (CHAR_0022) — the Ch-3 Manggarai

community; protected, never targets

(BE_0003_S2), Tombo Holes (BE_0003_S3, the twisted-word sorcerer, a distinct malevolent

practitioner, never the healer role)

Behind that named cast sit the region's documented customary OFFICES — the roles the communities

fill and refill, each with recorded duties, an instrument or a procedure, and its own rule of

access. They are the persona substrate the named cast draws on, and they are where the region's

dialogue-access, ordeal, and judgment mechanics get their real grammar instead of a generic elder

archetype. Each entry below is a role class rather than a minted character: the ethnography records

the office, not a person, so none of these proposes a name, and naming runs later under the naming

method against the existing CHAR_ roster. Where an entry adds anything the record does not itself

carry, the entry says so in its own words — authored inference is marked as authored, never left to

read as ethnography. Every office named here is a benevolent or neutral one — the region's

malevolent register stays where Section 5 puts it, with the polo and the twisted-word sorcerer, and

no office below is ever fused with it. No quest_type is assigned here: entity rows carry no

quest_type field at all, and the typing belongs to the Section-13 §7.5 seed-stub pass, which is

also where schema v0.2.2 §11.1 (Josh ruling, 2026-07-21) relocated the seed-side call and lodged

the standing instruction to propose the enum from what a pass actually needed. Where an entry

implies a new questline, a new registry row, a new zone, or a new named character, it is carried as

a FEED, never asserted here.

One FEED binds three of the four entries below and is recorded once, at section grain: the Zone

Catalog has no Lio, Keo, or central-Flores village row, no adat-assembly ground, and no neutral

third-village site — all eleven zones are the Ch-2 cave, crater, cone and waterfall, or Ch-3

Manggarai. That gap is the flagged one (the SRC_00230 record's zone-coverage note and the SRC_00483

Lio-village mint), and it is why the offices below describe ground the page cannot yet stage. The

mint is carried to the Zone Catalog pass as a FEED; nothing here force-fits a central-Flores office

onto a Manggarai zone, which is the culture-conflation the audits already caught once.

The mosalaki — the Lio customary leader (Ch 2, central highlands)

The Lio villages around the Kelimutu lakes run on two authorities at once: the formal village head,

and the mosalaki, the customary leader whose permission gates entry to the village and access to

its customary knowledge — including the standing of the healing tradition, whose title he is the one

to explain (ata, a person, plus bhisa, an ability) [SRC: SRC_00483 — Traditional Healing of the Lio

People of Flores]. This is the office that makes Section 8's "standing on arrival distant" playable:

the Lio highlands are open ground and closed knowledge, and the mosalaki is the door.

the knowledge without asking (corrosive — the customary door closes while the formal one stays

open, which is itself the lesson about which authority is real here). Non-gating throughout:

The 'ata madi — the oath-reciting ritual specialist (Keo, central Flores)

Where a theft or a boundary cannot be pinned, the Keo domain does not guess: it calls the 'ata madi,

the specialist who recites the boundary-oath and administers the soil-eating ordeal before both

parties, invoking the mother-land to witness the true and to curse the false [SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are

The tuka timba mata dasi — the balance-judge (Keo, Tana Worowatu)

When two villages quarrel, neither can judge, so a respected elder is summoned from a neutral third

village as the measurer — a judge is one who acts as a measurer, and his title and his instrument

are the same thing: a long balance-bar with a counterweight slid along it as the claims are placed

[SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective]. One recorded variant of the

office is inherited within a designated sub-clan rather than appointed case by case, so the standing

in turn before any ruling; the flat sentence that a judge is one who measures

scale and stays a real instrument, never a mystical prop; the office is Keo and stays Keo-named on

every surface it reaches. Where it meets the Section-13 rival-village lingko negotiation, it meets

it as what it is — a Keo measurer summoned from outside into a Manggarai lodok dispute, which is

the permitted form and the shape the queued measurer seed already routes to; the Manggarai

dispute-resolution office of its own is NOT written from this source and waits on the Erb

MUST-ACQUIRE, so the two offices are named separately and never fused into one elder. FEEDS

T0_Character_Index, unnamed

The tu'a teno and the tu'a adat — the Manggarai ritual authorities (Ch 3)

The Manggarai land-authorities already listed in Section 8 have a documented division of labour. The

tu'a teno holds one named lingko: he reads that field's signs — the spider on the lodok among them —

and decides when the field must be planted in case the land should cry. Alongside him, at village

scope rather than field scope, the tu'a adat is the community's ritual leader, governing the agama

and adat boundary for the whole village [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]. That

second office carries the colonial and mission stratum with it and reaches the player through the

Section-18 time-fluctuation windows rather than the pre-colonial present.

Elder Tuan Bernardus (CHAR_0016) tier rather than proposing a new named elder — noting that

signs the land offers, setting the ritual calendar for planting and for the festival the land asks

land wants; the plain statement that a field left unplanted will cry

a target; proposes no name — it FEEDS T0_Character_Index as documented-role substrate for CHAR_0016

rather than minting a character. The source documents both halves of this office through real,

named, living informants, one of them the tu'a adat of a village that is a live zone on this page,

so no name, biography, residence, or personal detail from the record carries into any persona here

and the names stay in the citation trail as provenance. The tu'a adat half sits in the

colonial-stratum windows and is kept there so the pre-colonial present of Ch 3 stays clean

The benevolent counter-practitioner — atambeko and para pendoa (chapter seat held open; the documented practice sits in the Section-18 mission window)

The region's malevolent register needs its documented counterweight, and the record supplies one

that is not the healer — but it supplies the name and the practice on two different footings, and

the page keeps them apart. Atambeko, from mbeko, knowledge, is the Manggarai term for the maker of

white magic and the diviner [SRC: SRC_00469 — Sorcery and Witchcraft in Flores, Indonesia]. The

practice the source actually observes in the field is the para pendoa's: lay Catholic practitioners

holding a charism to sense the media buried against a household, feel their heat, lift and burn

them, and cleanse the person they were aimed at with blessed water and prayer [SRC: SRC_00469]. A

term gloss and a modern ethnography are not the same evidence, and nothing in the record establishes

that the pre-colonial atambeko worked the pendoa's procedure. So the office seats where its evidence

is — the Section-18 mission and colonial windows, alongside the rest of this record's Catholic

stratum — and its entity row's empty chapter_ref is preserved by decision, not filled by

convenience. What the pre-colonial present may carry is the CLASS and not the sacramental: a

benevolent finder working in the region's own idiom, whose grounding waits on the Erb and Allerton

MUST-ACQUIRE rather than on this book. Either way the region gains a second benevolent practitioner

class alongside Mama Klara without touching her Ch-3 hard lock: she restores what was taken, and the

finder finds what was planted.

with a method, and he is careful never to name a culprit he has not found

from the polo and from the twisted-word sorcerer — he is the tradition's own answer to them. The

household protective kit the region separately documents — ginger infused with a kinsman's own

mbeko, water carried from the blessed main spring, a forehead marked with the sign of the cross

[SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits] — is ordinary hands doing protective work,

not this office's craft in circulation, and its sacramental elements belong to the same mission

window under the ratified split on that material; only the mbeko-ginger infusion is

chronology-safe at the chapters' baseline

ground, works at the hours the work asks for, and keeps a plain trade the rest of the time

declines to confirm; his good opinion is the region's most portable credential, since a family he

has cleared is a family the village stops watching

pay for a cleansing and move on (neutral); steer his detection toward an inconvenient person

(corrosive — a false finding sticks to a family for a generation, and the player has turned the

one protective office in the region into the accusing one)

a suspicion someone else has already decided; mbeko as knowledge rather than power

and no real practitioner is — the source's evidence rests on interviews with five living named

people, so none of their names, biographies, residences, or personal instruments carries into this

persona, and they stay in the citation trail as provenance. Whether atambeko and para pendoa are

one office across two strata or two practitioner classes is NOT settled by this source; the page

carries them as one benevolent counter-practitioner class and leaves the relationship open rather

than asserting a lineage. The detection method is played as the practitioner's own worldview while

the chemistry of what is buried stays real science, per the region's anti-fringe posture. The row

carries a dual registry route, so the school half FEEDS T0_School_Registry via Section 5 while the

persona half FEEDS T0_Character_Index here, and the two must not double-render the same figure;

a pre-colonial seat for the class at Ch 2 or Ch 3 is a FEED to the Erb/Allerton acquisition, not a

placement this pass makes

proposal-tier region dressing consumed from the audited deep-read harvest for this shelf: each row is

cited, each is opt-in and non-gating. Quest typing is owned by this step (schema v0.2.2 §11.1 moves

proposed_quest_type off the seed-queue gate and onto the §7.5 Section-13 seed-stub typing), and the

honest result of running it here is that none of these region-dressing seeds fits one of the five

attested values (canonical_hard_line, epilogue_resolution, prologue_baseline, main_story_per_chapter,

side_questline_stage), so every one stays untyped and carries the §7.5 category-mint flag rather than

a force-fit. The classes this harvest actually wanted — a minigame-or-contest type, a

festival-or-daily-immersion type, a trade-expression type, and the contract's folklore_combat — are

recorded here as mint-flag INPUT to the enum proposal §11.1 assigns to the first quest-writing pass;

nothing below declares a category as canon.

Main Story: the CH_02 origin beats (survive arrival, the polo's bargain, the Quiet Step stalk,

reach the village edge) and the CH_03 land-pressure resolution (lift the lingko land-grab, calm the

roused land, restore the untwisted proverb tradition, dance the caci clean). 22 Threads: Thread 1

(semangat vril-parallel), 2 (the naga tana / Komodo-python serpent), 3 (the pre-family corruption

escalation), 4 (Austronesian flood memory), 5/13 (the compang axis and lingko/mbaru-niang geometry),

14 (the caci blood-sacrifice), 17 (the first deliberate inscription read at Liang Bua), 18 (Kelimutu

and Mount Inerie), 21 (gong-waning). SQ1-12: SQ1 folklore (SEED→ADVANCE — the land-reconciliation

rite is the ADVANCE's human-scale face, and the ebu gogo testimony seats here, in the folklore lane,

as living Nage/Lio/Manggarai tradition), SQ9 cryptids (SEED — the deep-time hominin stratum and the

Orang Pendek discourse invoked comparatively, never as Flores-local tradition; it takes only a

cross-link to the folklore testimony, for the authorial discourse frame), SQ4 mystery (SEED, the

healer's child, with the unpaid buffalo and the hidden bundle as its region-scope investigations),

SQ2 military-history (SEED, the caci; the Keo twelve-year war is substrate for the lane, and any

stage beyond the ratified SEED is a Josh call). 10 Trades: Herbalism (Trade 4, Section 2), Tailoring

(Section 9 cloth), Engineering (Section 7). Folklore Combat: the polo, the Ebu Gogo, the naga tana,

and the ineweu (Section 3 / the folklore-combat lane below). Grimoire/School Curriculum: seeds only.

Cross-culture attribution discipline for everything below (the same rule Section 7 already states

for the lingko): the chapter_set is Manggarai at Ch 3 and the Lio/Nage/Ngada/Keo central highlands at

Ch 2, and a Keo or Nage institution stays Keo- or Nage-attributed even when it informs a Manggarai

situation. The Manggarai-side equivalents anchor on the pending MUST-ACQUIRE Erb and Allerton, never

on a neighbouring people's record.

Region-scope side-quest seeds (each with premise, NPC, integrity implication via the direction

vocabulary, reward):

the adat principle in play is that neither party may judge its own quarrel, and the documented form

of that principle on this island is Keo — a respected elder of a neutral third village called in as

the measurer (see the balance-judgment contest below), carried here Keo-attributed as a cross-region

analogue while the Manggarai form waits on its own source; integrity implication: mediate fairly

(generative) or exploit the split for a cut (corrosive); reward the lingko-tenure lore and a

standing shift

crossing; NPC Merchant Siti; integrity implication: honest carriage vs. skimmed leverage; reward

the trade-route map seed and the Ch-4 hook

NPC the healer's child (CHAR_0002); integrity implication: the mystery is held, not resolved, at

page grain (opens toward Ch 13); reward the SQ4 detective thread

naturalist's eye in the central highlands, the player collects eyewitness accounts of the ebu gogo

and finds that they openly contradict each other: the Nage hold that their ancestors ended the

wild-folk at the Lia Ula cave roughly two centuries ago, while Lio and Manggarai accounts hold the

creatures rare but possibly surviving in deep forest; the features that recur across accounts

(short stature, a hairy body, an imperfect speech laced with an "mmm" sound) are logged, and which

village holds which version is mapped [SRC: SRC_00193 — Palaeoanthropology and Local Legends: Homo

floresiensis and the Ebu Gogo; SRC: SRC_00457 — Human Beings and Other People: Classification in

Flores]; NPC Hunter Anselmus (CHAR_0011); integrity implication: the divergence itself is the

finding, recorded honestly or bent to whatever a listener wants to hear; reward the folklore

substrate depth. This is living tradition and it stays in the folklore lane; the modern Western

cryptozoology discourse (the Orang Pendek register, which SQ9 carries) is examined beside it as the

authorial frame, never credited as Indigenous testimony and never resolved into proof

the great monitors for the standing that spectacle brings; the fed animals have grown huge and

bold, crowd the bait unnaturally thick, and have begun taking village stock and injuring a herder

[SRC: SRC_00175 — Effects of Human Activities on Komodo Dragons]; NPC the bait-keeper and the

injured herder's household; integrity implication: kill the emboldened giant (corrosive — and the

spring is not fixed, another giant simply takes the bait) or end the feeding, carry the carcasses

far off and let the ground go wild again (generative), watching the monitors thin, lean out and

grow wary; reward the ecology read and a community standing shift. It rhymes deliberately with the

ngoéng-de-tana: use the potent land without the ritual restraint and the guardian is roused.

Staging constraint: manggarai_village_edge is protected and referenced-not-entered in the Zone

Catalog, so the stock-raid beat plays on the unprotected approach ground and on the lowland

dry-forest terrain the species actually occupies, never inside the village threshold and not on the

cloud-forest hub; which zone carries it is a Zone-Catalog call for the terrain pass

until the landowner promised the land a buffalo, someday; the buffalo was never given, the man

died, and the land is collecting — his descendants bitten raw by ticks, the ritual leaders

sickening, the harvest thinning [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]; NPC the

grieving heir, wholly invented with no biographical detail carried from the ethnography's named

informant (persona feeds the Character_Index lane); integrity implication: follow the signs back to

the forgotten promise and help the heir honour it (generative) or trade on a family's shame

(corrosive); reward the SQ4 case and convergence on the wae_water_spring renewal

a healer can name, ill only inside the house and well again away from it; trained in a benevolent

detection sense carried in the region's own idiom, the player sweeps the dwelling, feels the faint

heat rising at a door-jamb, under the floor-tiles, in a bolster pillow, and pries out a fist-sized

bundle wrapped in red cloth — broken glass, a coin, kitchen ash, a blade-sharpened splinter of

bamboo — then neutralizes its lingering heat at a water threshold and the household recovers [SRC:

SRC_00469 — Sorcery and Witchcraft in Flores, Indonesia]; NPC Mama Klara (CHAR_0006) mentors the

sense; integrity implication: the quest is find-and-cleanse, never accuse-and-punish — the bundle's

author is left abstract and is never routed to a named neighbour to be hunted; reward the

repeatable investigation loop and the Trade-4 cleansing craft. Chronology note: the substrate names

this sense for the para pendoa, a lay Catholic charism, and Catholicism reaches Manggarai only in

the late 1920s — the charism name and the sacramental register belong to the Section-18 mission

window, so the Ch-3 present carries the sense under the region's own naming

the south slope of Mt Koto by an inundation that answered a cancelled marriage between a girl of

Wondo and a whale [SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective]; NPC the Keo

elders who hold the account; integrity implication: honour the broken bond or let the water rise

again; reward the Thread-4 flood-memory anchor and the feed into LINK_0043 (which stays unnamed on

every player-facing surface — the convergence is design-layer). The coastal myth-site and its

fluctuation window sit outside the ratified CH_02/CH_03 zone set and are seeded here without

asserting a Zone Catalog row

Mini-arc situations (the L1-through-L3 lane — situations the region already holds, each playable,

each non-gating, several of them the human-scale face of beats the spine states structurally):

such a person is ata, the distancing term that covers outsiders, other people, and anything alien;

as conduct earns standing, the word used to the player's face shifts to hoga, one of us, a person

whose clan is known — first heard when a Nage elder says hoga instead of ata, which opens insider

lore, the invitation to a collective sacrifice, and warmer aid, while reading the community's need

as a tool holds the ata label and closes those doors [SRC: SRC_00457]. The culture's own logic is

inclusive, since anyone treated as kin can become an insider, so this reads as earned belonging and

never as a community grading a stranger's worth. The Nage pair drives the Ch-2 central-highland

surfaces only; the Ch-3 Manggarai surface runs the same mechanic on its own attested vocabulary

(the same source records the Manggarai analogue ite ata at p. 505 and tau at p. 496 n2), with the

wording confirmed against the pending MUST-ACQUIRE Manggarai sources before it reaches dialogue.

This is the felt surface of the community-read forks and the driver of ws.identity_hiding_status

and ws.community_state_per_region

elders read the cause as a broken bond with the water itself; the player gathers the ritual weight

the land is owed (the livestock, the rice, the field-spirits invited plot by plot toward the river),

then completes the renewal at the spring head in the correct sequence while the roused water

guardian tests them — success turns the water fertile again and calms the guardian, and a botched or

coerced sequence leaves the land hot and dry [SRC: SRC_00203]. Feeds BE_0003_S1 (ATTUNE/PERCEIVE)

at CH03_B05 and the SQ1 ADVANCE; the sacrifice is a reciprocal fertility act in the tradition's own

frame, carried with weight

kakartana or creatures of the land, and in answer a village child is taken and hidden alive in the

forest; no search finds them, and only the proper rite of reconciliation with the trespassed

land-spirits brings the child home [SRC: SRC_00469]. The player gathers the offering, learns the

ngoéng-de-tana form, and performs the reconciliation — the human-scale face of the Ch-3

land-pressure conflict and the ground of the appeased-not-slain resolution at BE_0003_S1. The child

is recovered unharmed in every branch. The darat are good spirits offended, not a nature-monster

collapses, its range shrinks, and it drifts toward village stock and people; glimpsed forward

through a fluctuation window, the same lingko-edge forest stands emptied of both deer and dragons

[SRC: SRC_00169 — Demographic Status of Komodo Dragons; SRC: SRC_00176 — Evaluating Environmental

and Demographic Factors]. It gives the Ch-3 ritual-less clearing its ecological echo beside its folk

one, and it is read again at the Ch-63 revisit

their ancestors ended the ebu gogo at the village of 'Ua perhaps two centuries ago, and they insist

the creatures were real animals and not spirits [SRC: SRC_00193]. The player sits with a living

people's own memory of a wild-folk population brought to its end, weight carried without indictment,

and that memory colours how the surviving-band question and the deep-time echo land afterwards. The

memory stays in the community's own voice and is never narrated as an authorial verdict; the

immigrant group the ethnography names stays unnamed here, since a named living clan cast as the

perpetrator would be the §17.1 collective failure

records it (about 1813 to 1825, reconstructed through genealogies rather than living witnesses) a

refused pig's-head portion at a garden-clearing feast escalated into a twelve-year war between the

Keo villages of 'Udi-Worowatu and Niondoa and Giriwawo, fought with guns and with kadha, drawing in

Lio and Ende war-allies, and ended only by a neutral peacekeeping team [SRC: SRC_00230]. Reached as

a fluctuation glimpse, the player can sit at the feast where it started, broker the peace that was

eventually forced, or watch a point of ritual honour become a generation of blood. No real named

ancestor is ported as a character, every party is held with weight, no still-existing village is

cast as the aggressor, and kadha is carried as the conflict's own attested register rather than as

a sorcery caricature; the row is SQ2 substrate, and any SQ2 stage beyond the ratified Ch-3 SEED is

a Josh call

elders hold that it cannot run through the village centres, since each nua, even an abandoned one,

is a working ritual site; before construction disturbs a protected stone, the ritual leader wets it

with chicken blood and asks the ancestral spirits' leave [SRC: SRC_00230]. The player mediates a

development-against-sacred-ground conflict — reroute, perform the permission, or drive through and

rouse the offended land — the modern rhyme of the Ch-3 land-pressure fork, read at the Ch-63

revisit; the situation is Keo-attributed and seats in the modern stratum, not on Manggarai ground

the dead pick their own successor and come to them in a dream [SRC: SRC_00483 — Traditional Healing

of the Lio People of Flores]. The player meets a Lio villager newly called (a grandmother, a father,

an aunt came to them) who is resisting a life they never asked for, and can help them accept the

calling, witness the first transmission, or watch the knowledge pass elsewhere. The dream comes

unbidden and at the dead's own choosing — no incubation rite is staged, because the tradition

performs none. It rhymes structurally with the healer's-child unsigned marks as a silent inherited

transmission, and it explains nothing about that mystery

valley, the young unwilling to take up an unpaid calling, and a Lio village's last healer afraid the

knowledge dies with them because no one has been dreamed to [SRC: SRC_00483]. The player can record

it, connect the old healer to a wavering successor, or simply witness the loss. Neither the clinics

nor the healers are villainized — the substrate shows a compromising, ambivalent reality — and the

loss is shown, never narrated as theme; feeds Sections 18 and 19

Skill-contest, craft, and investigation seeds (opt-in ladders and loops, all non-gating; the class

language is design description and mint-flag input, not a ratified quest type):

a neutral third village is called in as the tuka timba mata dasi, the measurer, whose title and

instrument are a long balance-bar with a counterweight slid back and forth to weigh the claims

[SRC: SRC_00230]. The player can seek out the measurer or serve as one: hear both oral histories,

slide the counterweight as each piece of evidence is set down, and deliver a ruling that shifts

standing with both parties. It informs the rival-village lingko negotiation above as a Keo

cross-region analogue, never as Manggarai adat

droppings and tracks of deer, wild pig and buffalo, to work out where the prey is dense and

therefore where the great lizards will range [SRC: SRC_00176]; individual animals are told apart by

their scars and the extent of a partial tail-loss, or by a mark the player leaves, and re-found

across visits until a valley's resident roster is complete [SRC: SRC_00175; SRC: SRC_00177 —

Mechanisms and Origins of Reduced Dispersal]. A finished valley fills the bestiary, opens

forage-safe routes, and pays out ecology lore, and it gates nothing — it rewards the patient,

science-minded player. Anachronism discipline: the cage-trap, transponder and tag-and-release

methodology behind the real studies stays authorial and modern-strata, and the era-present player

works by sign, scar-reading, and an ochre mark

making its people sick and applies the correct real neutralizer: slaked lime to cut an underground

gas-and-water seam, coconut-shell charcoal to adsorb iron, manganese or silver, tamarind seed dry-

fried and pounded so its tannin locks up copper, aluminium hydroxide to bind phosphine rising from

bone buried beneath a floor [SRC: SRC_00469]. Right reagent to right poison clears the site and the

wrong one wastes it — a think-with-real-chemistry puzzle serving the rewards-intelligence pillar,

its L3 twin in SCIENCE_GROUNDING. Attribution discipline: the chemistry is real and is shown as

chemistry, but this reagent kit is one contemporary practitioner's syncretic method (documented

from 2013), NOT an attested traditional Flores pharmacology — the page claims no civilizational

credit for it and the practitioner's bench rides the modern fluctuation window, while the era-present

bench carries only what the region's own record attests (the Section-2 ethnobotany). The

pendulum-and-cross method of finding the seam is shown as the practitioner's method, and the two

are never conflated on a player-facing artifact

ingredients, pelangi fruit, candlenut and raga root, must all be gathered from the one waterfall

site the oil is named for, Muru Esi; cooked in a clay pot, with a spoken step-marker at each stage,

and no person or animal may pass while it brews, so the player must find an isolated hour and place;

a fresh batch can be started only when the celestial sign shows, a star sitting above the moon, and

until then the old batch is stretched [SRC: SRC_00483]. Ingredient counts run odd — one, three,

five — and an even batch comes out weakened or failed. Potency scales with fidelity to the

procedure, and a share of every batch is carried back to the gather site as an offering.

Attribution discipline: the product name, the three-ingredient recipe and its constraint set are

one contemporary practitioner's, carried here at full specificity with the practitioner unnamed,

and the page claims no civilizational credit for a living healer's own remedy. The oil's curative

claims are the tradition's own belief, carried as belief, and the vril-altered world is where they

work

name carries what it cures: bubore from bu, stuffed, and bore, a runny nose, so it treats cough and

cold; para from pa, normal, and ra, blood, so it restores the circulation [SRC: SRC_00483]. Cracking

the name unlocks the use, turning botany into literacy and rewarding the player who listens to

words. It rhymes with Thread 17, the first deliberate inscription read at Liang Bua, as reading

meaning in the world — with no Grand-Sage register anywhere near it

L1 fun-beat seed (SEED — feeds the pending minigame/vehicle frameworks (Josh-pending); non-gating;

invents no named canon): the caci whip-duel contest circuit — the scored larik-and-nggiling

ceremonial rounds already documented at the Todo caci ground (Section 6) run as an opt-in ER1-ladder

rung, a recurring skill-contest the player may climb for community standing and reward, offered never

forced (the caci's blood-fertilizes-earth ceremonial meaning kept, never a brawl).

Folklore-combat lane (the rated-M bar: a tradition's own condemned being is a boss, staged, never

softened): beside the polo and the naga tana the region's record carries the ineweu, the Manggarai

malevolent long-breasted spirit-being who casts her reach as a snare to take the unwary — a

mythologically-stylized night-forest evasion-and-turn encounter at the lingko forest edge, read the

flung snares, break the grip at a warded threshold, drive her off [SRC: SRC_00469]. The snare motif

is staged as dread, never sexualized. Two further stageable night-beings sit ready in the same

harvest rather than idle on a roster line: the empo-dehong, the spirits who travel at night to take

heads, and the jing, the rock-dwelling dwarves blamed for ground that will not be cut until they are

placated — an obstruction-and-placation beat [SRC: SRC_00203]. The head-taking stays the spirit's

act; it is never a depiction of the living Manggarai.

Fauna encounter cluster: the deep-read harvest lands a large cited encounter set on this region, and

it belongs to the spine and combat lanes rather than to this page — it is carried here in aggregate.

Its content is the readable-behaviour layer under the CH02_B03 guardian-test and the Ch-2 stalk

(thermal limits as a pursuit cost rather than an absolute barrier, large water as a dispersal wall at

sea-channel scale, an age-structured territory rather than one monster, contests at a carcass, a bite

whose consequence is treated at a healer or gather node, a seasonal nest-guard window) together with

the folkloric encounter register beside it, which Sections 3 and 5 already hold. Each row types

through its own cited seed at the Boss_Encounter thin-index and the spine's §10b beats; enumerating

them here would duplicate the typed layer. Habitat-scope note for the terrain pass: the species'

documented ground is lowland deciduous monsoon forest and savannah, so encounters favour the lowland

and riparian approaches over the caldera rim and the cloud-forest bowl.

Guardian-test staging note (from the audited entity lane): the CH02_B03 guardian is designed as one

unnaturally large, unafraid monitor at the real extremes of the species — near three metres, near

ninety kilos, decades old — that holds ground where a wild animal would turn away, and that dominates

the baited spring by displacing and even preying on the smaller dragons crowded there; its bulk and

its boldness are the visible signature of the feeding that made it, which is why the fed-spring side

quest and the guardian-test read as one situation [SRC: SRC_00175]. The readable tell is the

reaction, not the distance: the habituated animal does not let the player come closer than a wild one

would, it simply stops reacting when the player arrives, and that is the finding the science layer

carries. The verbs stay the ratified EVADE/ATTUNE pair and the win opens the recharge source. The

animal is genuinely lethal and is not defanged, its size is authorial commentary on the feeding

rather than fantasy gigantism, no kill is required and none is forbidden, and the encounter is never

framed as a hunt of a protected species. Whether this persona enriches the existing BE_0002_S1 row or

earns a Boss_Encounter id of its own is a registry call flagged for ruling, not made here.

Held pending a ruling, recorded so nothing is silently dropped: the exacting-procedure oil's real

particulars (above); and the witch-accusation mini-arc — a death in a village curdling into certainty

against a poor, unpopular neighbour, with the player given a narrow window to find the true cause,

stand between the accused and the crowd, and steer the community to its own lawful, non-lethal repair

[SRC: SRC_00469]. It is care-correct in construction — the crowd acts from fear and grief and is

never staged as monstrous, no real case's victims are named, and the only sanctioned player win is

that no one is killed — but its documented record is contemporary, its whole citation range is

modern, and player inaction enabling a killing inside a living community is hard-line-shaped. It is

held for Josh with the recommendation on record: seat it in the colonial or modern fluctuation window

rather than the Ch-3 pre-colonial present, with wholly invented characters, and never stage the

killing as a watchable or rewarded beat. The community's own self-cleansing rite (the festival lane,

Sections 4 and 5) stands beside it as the people's own repair.

Convergence-node feed notes: FORK_CH02_A (the Kelimutu carved mark) and FORK_CH03_A (the Manggarai

community read) both feed the Ch-63 Austronesian continental-revisit; both are UNLOCKED

(path_bucket commits only at Ch 65); non-gating. The earned-inside-name standing shift is the played

surface of the community-read fork — what the villagers call the protagonist to their face is the

read that travels forward — and the emptied-forest and sacred-centre situations are its ecological and

territorial companions at the same revisit.

Section 14 — Trade Skills, Detailed Content

Home-base trade content: none roots here (the region is a two-chapter waypoint, not a returnable

home). The region seeds three trade substrates, each with a trade-master NPC and Book-of-Trades

entries:

Kelimutu villages [SRC: SRC_00483]; the Ch-3 teaching surface is Mama Klara's Manggarai practice,

held distinct from it (two peoples, each under its own name, never one island healer); the gather

node is the recharge-waterfall botanical reward

cotton-ikat and songket backstrap-weaving substrate; the ancient home roots later at Ch 21

echo-seeds; the home stays elsewhere in the arc

Trade-4 learning register — the dream-taught recipe. Herbalism in the Lio central highlands is not

bought from a trainer or read out of a book. The Lio record the transmission as knowledge received

in a dream, where the dream is the medium and a deceased healer, an atabhisa, is the source; the

dead choose their own successor and come unbidden, most often after a death in the family [SRC:

SRC_00483 — Traditional Healing of the Lio People of Flores]. Rendered as the record itself frames

it — a working system for preserving and passing on practice, held across generations — it becomes

this region's unlock path for the trade. The page-side affordance is earning a Lio healer's trust at

the Ch-2 central-highland villages; the in-fiction cause of the dream stays the ancestor's own

choosing and never a rite the player performs, because the record documents no incubation practice

and the page does not invent one for a living people. The dream walks the player to one living tree

and gives the recipe entire — the ingredient, its preparation, and the ritual constraint that

governs its use — and the player wakes holding a place rather than a skill point, then travels at

night to the marked tree to take what the dream showed. Learning is inheritance here, not

acquisition: what arrives is another healer's practice, handed on and owed the same care as any

other inherited thing. The sites are the Ch-2 pair the substrate already seats — the recharge

waterfall gather node and the Kelimutu crater-lake rim the Lio villages ring — and expressly not

Mama Klara's falls at Ch 3, which are Manggarai ground and a different people's. One crafting rule

carries across from the same record and states cleanly without any particular remedy attached:

ingredient counts in the medicinal and massage oils run odd, and an even batch comes out weak [SRC:

SRC_00483]. The unlock is region-scoped and additive — it opens entries the standard path does not,

and closes none.

Trade-4 forage line — the valley-floor tamarind. The deciduous monsoon forest of the valley floors,

along their permanent and ephemeral watercourses, is dominated by tamarind (Tamarindus indica), and

that same forest is the monitor's prime habitat [SRC: SRC_00169 — Demographic Status of Komodo

Dragons], which makes the tree line legible twice over: a gather route for the herbalism forage

round, and the same tell that reads good monitor country ahead. The node lands on the Ch-2 valley

corridor the substrate already uses for the stalk — the liang_bua_cave forest approach — and mints

no new zone. It does not extend to the Ch-3 lingko forest edge: that zone sits in the Wae Rebo

cloud-forest bowl, and the Section-3 roster stages the Komodo and the Flores monitor at Ch 2 only.

The culinary use of the fruit is a page-side design read for the forage table, carried on page

authority pending an ethnobotany anchor; the ecology source carries the habitat fact, not the

kitchen.

Trade-4 craft line — the protective kit. Manggarai highland practice arms a traveler before

spirit-dense ground, and the kit has two strata this page keeps apart rather than bundling. At the

chapters' pre-colonial present the adat half stands alone: ginger infused with a father's mbeko,

eaten before the forest journey [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]. The Catholic

half — a forehead marked with the sign of the cross, a bottle of water carried from the main village

spring after the priest has blessed it, a bible and rosario kept close against poti [SRC: SRC_00203]

— belongs to the mission stratum and is reachable only through the Section-18 time-fluctuation

windows, because the Church reached Manggarai in the late 1920s and cannot seat in the ~1000–1500 CE

surface the chapters live in. As trade content the ginger is gathered and prepared on the Ch-3 round

out of Wae Rebo and spent entering hostile ground; the blessed water and the sacramentals become

gatherable only inside the mission window. The care posture is exact in both strata: neither the

Church nor adat stands as the antagonist, because both are armouries the same people keep and

combine, and the mission layer reads as the community's own living faith, never as an imposition and

never as an antagonist axis.

The obligation economy — incorporation by service. Among the Keo of central Flores, a stranger

becomes a rightful land-holder not by purchase but by a named contract earned through service,

war-service above all (to'o jogho mbana daka); the community's grant is "a gift that is never taken

back" (ti'i mona wiki pati mona dai), and the incorporated newcomer owes additional contributions at

every ritual thereafter — tutu mbotu penu mbora, the image of adding to and overfilling a half-full

basket, which the Ma'unori and Nuamuri say instead as mbue kaju 'api 'ida, green beans and resin

torches [SRC: SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective]. The limit the page states

elsewhere binds here: SRC_00230 is a Keo source, so this obligation is carried on the Ch-2

central-highland surface under Keo attribution and is never transferred onto the Manggarai

institutions of Ch 3, whose own anchors wait on the MUST-ACQUIRE Erb and Allerton. Within that scope

it is the honest sink for trade output: what the player gathers, grows, and makes is what pays the

contributions that keep incorporation good, tying the Ch-2 forage round and field work to

ws.community_state_per_region, ws.identity_hiding_status, and the assimilation-integrity mechanic. A

lapse costs standing and membership in good standing; the grant itself is held as the source words

it, not taken back; and progression is never touched — the no-dead-end rule binds, and every route

onward from the region stays open. The land-tenure record this rests on is Section 4's and Section

7's; Section 14 carries only its trade face.

The ten-trade content is otherwise seed-level at the origin arc; the detailed home-base content

FEEDS the trade registries as the cascade reaches the trade-home chapters. The ritual vocabulary

this section introduces — atabhisa, mbeko, poti, to'o jogho mbana daka, ti'i mona wiki pati mona

dai, tutu mbotu penu mbora, mbue kaju 'api 'ida — takes Section-17 glossary entries alongside

lingko, compang, caci, semangat, darat, and naga tana, so localization does not flatten them. None

of the surfaces above is typed to a questline stage at page grain — proposed_quest_type is not

assigned here (schema v0.2.2 §11.1), and the service-quest and protective-kit surfaces are left

untyped for the owner lane.

Section 15 — Cross-Regional Connections

Connections to visited regions (with journal entries), serpent-thread continuity, and vital-force

parallels. Every connection names its Cross_Cultural_Link_Graph row where one exists; the bullets the

deep-read pass opened carry a substrate anchor as well, and the catalog rows that carry only a LINK_

id are marked as such. The four parallels the deep-read pass opened toward regions with no page here

are written as originating at Flores with their target ends still owed, so a claim is never made

without naming the machine tie it does not yet have.

polo → leyak parallel-independent link (LINK_0146 link_type, a shared cosmological category, never

a diffusion claim) [SRC: LINK_0146], plus the architecture-and-unity weaving (LINK_0119 proportion,

LINK_0137 unity). The Flores end now carries the mechanism in the Nage's own terms — the polo is a

person whose soul (mae) has been displaced by a harmful spiritual quality (wa) through an illicit

relationship with malevolent spirits, human on the outside and other within [SRC: SRC_00457 — Human

Beings and Other People: Classification in Flores]. That substitution is what rhymes with the

leyak's theft of vital force, and it is the shape the Ch-2 bargain plays out in the hollowed hunter

spider-trickster seed (LINK_0071, LINK id only). The Flores anchor is the Keo pala, the buffalo

slaughter whose shared meat and spilled blood wet the earth so the soil does not shake [SRC:

SRC_00230 — We Are Children of the Land: A Keo Perspective] — blood offered to steady a literally

seismic land, which gives the cross-cultural sacrifice weave a specific regional meaning rather

than a generic one and grounds the Thread-14 reading the Ch-3 caci carries

these): vril-parallel to the Azores (LINK_0014, Ch 38) and Atlantis (LINK_0016, Ch 66); serpent

synthesis (LINK_0034, Ch 47) and origin-recognition (LINK_0036, Ch 66); flood-memory convergence

(LINK_0043, Ch 38); the music-as-architecture gong-to-sistrum gate (LINK_0112, Ch 15)

community read, the Austronesian-expansion through-line binding Flores (Ch 2-5) to the peopling of

the Pacific — the region's primary forward connection. Two substrate anchors now carry it. Water is

not a feature of the Manggarai landscape but coterminous with it: tana names the earth and the

rivers and streams together, matching the wider Austronesian regard for water as fundamental to any

specification of a landscape [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]. And the Nage

term ata, other people, descends from an Austronesian protoform for outsiders, a word whose

documented history runs one way in eastern Sumbanese and Tetum, where it hardened into the term for

a slave against tau and ema for human being, and another in Manggarai ité ata and Lio kita ata,

which are cognates of the Nage term glossed as human being — one inheritance fanning out across

Flores, Sumba, and Timor, carried as shared descent of a WORD and never as a diffusion of story

[SRC: SRC_00457 — Human Beings and Other People: Classification in Flores]

who gathers under ritual conditions, sits beside archipelago neighbours the literature catalogs

with the same shape — Dayak harvest conditions in Borneo, the Tau Taa Wana healer drawing sanction

from Pu'e in Sulawesi, Tetun ethnomedicine in West Timor [SRC: SRC_00483 — Traditional Healing of

the Lio People of Flores]. This is a documented regional convergence the literature catalogs, and

it is held at exactly that strength: the only descent the source documents is linguistic (Lio with

Ngada and Palu'e in the CMP subgroup), never a claim that healing praxis travelled with the

Austronesian expansion, which stays the arc's own connective frame. So held, it makes the region

one node in a living regional web rather than an isolated island, and it is the forward edge of the

Trade-4 Herbalism substrate seeded in Section 2

reciprocal row owed: the Manggarai agentive landscape is engaged practically rather than

contemplatively, the land conversed with and given what it wants as a matter of daily work, and the

Andean relationship with an animate landscape is documented in the same pragmatic register [SRC:

SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working Spirits]. A parallel-independent agrarian rhyme across two

continents, both ends cited in the source, held as parallel only

owed: the Manggarai spirit-oriented agricultural ritual that secures the fertility of land and

water has its close relative in the ritual side of agriculture among the Gayo, a Muslim people

whose agricultural ritual Bowen analyses within Gayo Muslim practice, including the accommodations

that ritual makes with modern and technical framings [SRC: SRC_00203 — Static Crosses and Working

Spirits]. The Gayo end is paid off in its own Islamic frame when the arc moves west, never

flattened into highland animism to make the rhyme tidier — the parallel is the ritual seat of

agriculture, not a shared cosmology

Africa: the Flores witch's bound spirit that leaves the sleeping body at night to feed on a

victim's vital force, Manggarai wina wa and rona wa, Nage wa, the body waking only once the wa

returns, stands beside the Azande mangu, whose spirit likewise departs the sleeping witch to devour

the spirit of the victim's flesh [SRC: SRC_00469 — Sorcery and Witchcraft in Flores, Indonesia,

relaying Evans-Pritchard through Stewart and Strathern]. The Flores source draws the comparison at

length; the page carries it at the comparative-anthropology tier as a design-layer note only, never

a player-facing assertion that the two traditions are one thing, and the Azande end is a relayed

ethnographic authority rather than this source's own fieldwork. No target region page exists yet to

reciprocate it

rather than merely owed: among the Lio, dreams are the medium by which ancestors impart medicine,

and the Flores source relays Hirst 2005 for the same dream-received-medicine structure among Xhosa

diviners [SRC: SRC_00483 — Traditional Healing of the Lio People of Flores]. The Xhosa end rides on

that literature-review relay, not on this source's own documentation, so no Cross_Cultural_Link_Graph

row may be minted until the Xhosa end carries its own primary anchor. Both are living healing

traditions, both are rendered as their own peoples hold them, and the claim is parallel only, never

that one taught the other — which is what lets the dream-taught herbalism mechanic recur later in

the arc as a genuine echo

Manggarai one, yet the Manggarai and the Lio hold their own representations of hairy manlike

beings, and the traditions diverge on the point that matters — the Nage hold theirs ended, while

the Lio and the Manggarai hold theirs rare but possibly surviving [SRC: SRC_00193 —

Palaeoanthropology and Local Legends: Homo floresiensis and the Ebu Gogo]. That divergence is the

SQ9 puzzle, and it ties the Ch-2 central-highland folklore stratum to the Ch-3 Manggarai present.

In-world the being is real and staged as the region's own folklore-combat encounter (CR_0010,

Section 3); as a fact about three living traditions it is examined as such, and it is never run

forward into a claim that any hominin survived. The modern Western relict-cryptid discourse stays

where Section 5 puts it, authorial and never credited as Indigenous tradition

This is a subset of the links the spine originates here — also LINK_0152 (vital-force-predator

convergence, Ch 38) and the bull-sacrifice set LINK_0106–0110 (toward

Egypt/Mesopotamia/Greece/Rome/Mesoamerica) — listed as the target pages are cut. Reciprocation

discipline binds: each claimed link is reciprocated at its target (the LINK_ rows are the machine

tie; a page-side claim without a reciprocal target row is a defect), which is exactly why the four

outward parallels above are written as owed rather than as done — minting their

Cross_Cultural_Link_Graph rows is a registry action, the Andean, Gayo, Azande, and Xhosa ends have no

region page here to receive them, and the Xhosa row additionally waits on a primary anchor at its own

end. Serpent-thread continuity: the naga tana and the Komodo/python dual anchor carry Thread 2

forward. The arc's larger corruption pattern is held dark at page grain — Section 11 records its

absence, the polo's bargain is felt and never explained, and the design-layer resonances above stay

design-visible only.

Section 16 — Academic References and Books to Acquire

Every citation carries its use_class (SUBSTRATE · ESOTERIC-PRIMARY · AUTHORIAL-REBUTTAL · REFERENCE ·

TONE · DUPLICATE · FRINGE-SKIP). Book-substrate citations arrive via the query layer as (title, author, year,

page) with SRC_ ids; the retrieval-provenance trail (corpus_query_log) rides the page. These are

the region-FILTERED hits (query_substrate --region flores_island) — the filter matters: an

unfiltered semantic query for "Flores ikat weaving" returned the Oxford Encyclopedia of Ancient

Egypt, and "mbaru niang architecture" returned Kilwa on the Swahili coast, so region-scoping is a

correctness requirement here, not a convenience.

Priority books and processed substrate (SUBSTRATE unless noted):

MUST-ACQUIRE (specialist primary anchors not yet in the corpus, per BOOK_ACQUISITION_MINIMIZED):

Erb, The Manggaraians (the caci / mbaru niang / lingko / compang ethnography — the Ch-3 keystone,

currently deep-researched not owned); Allerton, Potent Landscapes (the darat / naga tana

potent-landscape study — the Section-5 keystone); Forth, Beneath the Volcano and Images of the

Wildman in Southeast Asia (the polo and Ebu Gogo grounding). Verify list: the caci martial detail and

the gong-waning musical theory are thin in the processed corpus — flagged as a Section-6/10

acquisition or deep-research gap (the ikat-weaving query scored only 0.32 region-filtered, an honest

"no strong textile substrate yet" rather than a false Egypt citation). Rabbit holes (minimum five):

the lodok field-geometry survey method; the Kelimutu mineral-chemistry vs. lake-of-the-dead

tradition; the Austronesian voyaging-and-settlement chronology; the Homo floresiensis excavation

record; the ngoéng-de-tana land-contract ritual.

Section 17 — Unreal Engine 5.8 Build Specifications

Environment areas, interiors, vegetation palette, NPC population and behavior, performance budget —

re-pointed to the researched UE-5.8 chain. Registry data lands as DataTables (one C++ USTRUCT per

registry: the Zone Catalog, the boss thin-index, the creature roster rows). PCG consumes the Zone

Catalog + DataTables (Load Data Table → attribute sets) to scatter the monsoon-forest, the lingko

fields, and the volcanic cone. The Landscape import runs the Python path (the C++ shim where stock

Python falls short) over the Section-1 DEM tiles. Scene rows (the Derived Indexes scene index) drive

Sequencer. The three-seam routing governs which agent surface executes which step (NeoStack =

judgment, UE-native Python/Remote-Control = bulk/CI, Epic MCP = PCG). MetaHuman batch generation

round-trips Epic's cloud for the named cast (throughput budgeted per region). ws.* worldstate keys

(Section-Derived-Indexes mark/state surface) bind to the save subsystem.

Localization-ready discipline binds from the first page: every player-facing string lands in string

tables (FText/String Table flow), never hard-coded — including the Manggarai/Lio ritual terms

(lingko, compang, caci, semangat, darat, naga tana), which carry glossary entries so the

ship-everywhere localization does not flatten them. The glossary also carries the Nage

person-terms ata, hoga and kita ata under that people's name (Section 5), and the Manggarai

place-name gloss liang bua, the cool cave — the meaning-carrying translation the Ch-2 player-string

sidecar surfaces on first introduction, held so the site reads as a named place and not an opaque

label [SRC: docs/spine/player_strings/CH_02.csv]. Performance budget: platform-tiered frame-rate

and triangle/draw-call budgets, LODs on the mbaru-niang and forest foliage, World Partition

streaming across the highland corridors; the protected type-sites (Liang Bua, Wae Rebo) are

referenced set-dressing, not high-poly hero reproductions. Environment look calls in this build

spec — band lighting, material vocabulary, silhouette grammar, the motion register — route through

the region's RATIFIED art bible (the picked A2 macro frame with mandated A1 threshold dressing),

which is the only artifact the asset factory reads [SRC: docs/art_bibles/flores_island.md].

Section 18 — Time Period and Fluctuation Design

Time display and fluctuation events: the region's composite era is its design engine. The deep-time

window at Liang Bua (~60,000+ BP) surfaces the Homo floresiensis stratum as geology and the deep

vril-trace the protagonist reads on purpose at Ch 3 (the first deliberate inscription read); the

pre-colonial highland surface (~1000–1500 CE) is the living-community present of both chapters; the

Portuguese (1500s) and Dutch (1800s–1900s) colonial strata are reached as time-fluctuation windows

carrying the arc's honest historical weight (routed through the colonial apparatus, never the

Florenese community). Era glimpses: the caldera and the cave hold the deep-time cues; the village

holds the pre-colonial present; the colonial strata glimpse through specific fluctuation events.

Switching mechanics: per the Geography §11 time-fluctuation model — the region is an early node, so

switching is site-cued (the cave, the caldera) rather than the free Vimana travel of the late arc.

Section 19 — World State Versions, Modern Revisit

After Vimana activation (Ch 55) the player revisits the world from the air and sees the

integrity-mapped world states. The region's revisit is the Ch-63 Pacific/Oceania continental-revisit

(the Austronesian-expansion node cross-linked to Ch 2-5) — the coherent modern consumer of the

Flores marks, re-targeted from the stale Ch-39 mis-link (Ch 39 is West Africa modern, not Flores).

The DERIVED texture bands are {Truly Good · Good Enough · Drifting · Evil · Pure Evil (terminal)};

the world-state NAMES are {Luminous · Restored · Neutral · Damaged · Corrupted} (Neutral exists only

as the WS3 world-state name, never a band or ending label); endings resolve by the Ch-65-locked

path_bucket {TRULY_GOOD, GOOD_ENOUGH, EVIL}. At Ch 2–3 the region initializes at integrity L3

Drifting / world-state WS3 Neutral with path_bucket UNLOCKED (the lock is far ahead at Ch 65).

Visual differences per state at the Ch-63 read: the Kelimutu carved mark and the Manggarai community

standing are read with reception varying by the Ch-2/Ch-3 path_state — trust earned reads as

recognition-and-aid, a coldness the community read reads as a colder reception; non-gating

throughout (recognition opens or alters aid and lore, never a wall). Modern Velheim presence per

state: none surfaced at this region (reveal-ladder-safe).

Section 20 — Session Planning and Source Guide

Per-region population plan (which staged SRC_ sources feed which sessions): the Section-2 herbalism

session draws SRC_00483; the Section-3 fauna/ecology session the Komodo cluster (SRC_00169/75/76/77)

and the deep-time SRC_00193; the Section-4/7 people-and-architecture session SRC_00230, SRC_00457,

SRC_00203; the Section-5 spiritual session SRC_00469 (with the MUST-ACQUIRE Allerton and Forth as

the keystones). Processing status against the book pipeline (inbox → processed → registry): all

cited sources are processed and query_ready in book_substrate with region_tags flores_indonesia; the

retrieval is region-filtered (the substrate-region ruling). Build-ready date: gated on the two

MUST-ACQUIRE keystones (Erb, Allerton) for the Section-5/6 depth and the caci/gong-waning

acquisition gap; the machine layer (Zone Catalog, Derived Indexes) is build-ready now against the

v3.1 spine. The v1.0 book-cost fields are superseded by the closed acquisition ledger.
